Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in tempers. Beta and Omega are finally in direct conflict, click here to keep up on it. If your character is part of either side, the expedition & pursuit thread has all the details. And don't forget, our Player Appreciation and the short stories lore contest both end at the end of August!

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Heeeeeyyyyyyyyy

It's me again 8,D

SO! In what will be the third and probably final trip for this project, I'll be heading to the Philadelphia area again for work. I'll be leaving midday on 8/26, and returning the evening of 8/31 - But since it will be evening, I'll probably be beat and not ready to post, so I'm pushing the hiatus to that Saturday 9/1 just to be safe.

I'm going to try to be getting on in the evenings, however with the season change coming up most of my efforts will likely be geared towards that. In addition, if I get news on something specific soon there might be a side-project I'll be dealing with in the evenings that week as well. More info to come... if I ever get more info myself lmao.

Anyway, it's early but I wanted to give everyone fair warning. It's only a week though, so I'm sure ya'll will be fine ~~

"Please, get rid of them! I can't handle another raid on my stores. It's just getting too costly!" The woman pleaded with Shae, dark-skinned arms caressing the woman's arms in a gesture of comfort. "Don't worry. My family and I will be sure to chase off those rodents for you to keep your food safe. If I can, I'll try to figure out how they are getting in as well, so we can block it off. The summer had come with a sudden population increase of pest-like pokemon. She didn't like the way people spat around the term 'Pest' in such a hurtful manner, but she could understand their frustrations that came with the rodents.

This woman specifically had her house raided by a group of them. They'd somehow managed to worm their way in and got into her stored food. Apparently a couple times, if the hysterical woman was able to get through her upset words. She seemed terrified that all of her food was going to be taken, and as such wasn't really able to think straight. Her words were a little garbled by her emotions, the infant in the other room seeming happy while not knowing his mother was crying. "Please, just relax and go spend time with your baby. I'll take care of the pests. I'm sure if I chase them off and seal up their way in, you won't have trouble ever again." She smiled brightly, the mother taking some comfort in her words and positivity.

The woman satisfied with the answer, she wiped her eyes and nodded at Shae. Then, she retreated to her other room, leaving the tall woman to prepare. She couldn't be sure they'd come right now, but the woman said they normally tried to get in around the same hour of the day. Which was just about here. She inspected the room a bit, looking for a clear opening but not finding anything at first. Well, it would be easier if she saw where exactly the pests were heading to. With that in mind, she headed to the door and went outside, closing it behind her. The openings needed to all be shut, so that they would only be able to go in whichever secret way they had managed to open into the woman's house. Whatever it was, stealing food was absolutely not allowed. She would do everything she could to stop the pokemon from stealing from this house ever again.

She set out around the old house, the framework sturdy enough but not exactly new. Well, that was to be expected, she supposed. Most houses in Ashfield were passed down or abandoned, and others would take them when they opened up. Sometimes reparations would be done to them, but most of the time people just appreciated getting into a solid shelter. There were quite a few people who lived around the city without a real home. She hoped to help them all someday. But for now, this was her task. She needed to focus on finding any holes. A quick pass of the house didn't show anything too concerning, though there was a spot in the dirt that seemed a little looser than the rest. Almost like it had been dug up recently.

This was where she decided to stake out, since the other spots didn't seem to need it. She could walk around and keep an eye out, but she would keep a couple pokemon stationed here, where she thought it was most likely they would come. Pulling out her pokeballs, she released the pokemon she felt might be good for this - and a couple who she didn't use too often. The two slugs weren't huge fans of fighting, but they were feisty when it came to where they deemed their territory was. If she kept them here and the pokemon approached, they'd likely be willing to protect this spot and not let them pass.

First, she released the mouse pokemon. She was still young and inexperienced, so Shae wanted to give her as much exposure to watching battles as she could. So that the pokemon would learn. The electric-type was released and looked around. On spotting Shae, she sipped over and wrapped her tiny hands on the woman's ankle. Giggling, the woman bent down and picked her up. Settling her into one arm so the creature could look out from a higher point, she used her free hand to get the others. First, she released the bigger of the two shellos. Some people liked to say fatter, but she didn't appreciate the term very much. It seemed a little insulting, and she had no interest in insulting the pokemon in any way.

The water type appeared on the ground, released right on the pile of dirt that seemed looser than the rest. She quickly moved to holster his pokeball, and grab the next. Within a few seconds, the second water type was released next to him. They looked around, apparently curious of their situation. "Alright you two. Something might be coming to this house. But this is yours, okay? We can't let them break through." She spoke the words, pointing to the soil beneath them and the wood behind them. The larger of the two, the one who was the self-proclaimed king, looked at the great wooden structure. So, this was to be their new home? Yes, a large castle such as this seemed worthy of him. The old place would remain a quarters for his servants, and he could stay here. Unless it wasn't as nice. Then perhaps this could become the servants' quarters.

But the woman got up and walked along the wall of the new building. Hmph. She didn't go out of sight, but looked around the corner and in all the other directions. She turned around and followed along the wall again, passing by them and repeating at the other corner. What was she doing? Perhaps this large servant of his was expecting something? Or, just keeping a careful eye out? Well, all the better. He wanted time to explore his new home after all. Though, it was odd that they were outside, rather than inside. Curious. Well, perhaps he would wait a minute, and the woman would carry him inside. Just as he expected of her to do. His loyal servant bowed her head to him, waiting for her orders as he decided what it was they should do next. He was silent for the moment, waiting to see what the human would do.

Not sure whether you want to do payment during this thread & on the way back, or if you want to just tally on the return trip, as he's coming to the island with her.

Setting Off

The woman pulled the bag off her shoulder, setting it down in the small cubby on the little boat. It wasn't much, a small sailboat that could fit maybe 3 people comfortable. As one position wasn't being used for a person, the two humans were using it mainly for gear. The fisherman had some of his supplies for his own purposes in it, and the woman set her compactly backed bag in as well, to try and prevent it from being at risk for falling out. In addition, the extra space seemed a good place for the young ones to sit, allowing them to be out and safe as well. It wouldn't do to have them fall out and be prey to the creatures of the sea.

The man accompanying her quietly opened and adjusted the large cloth tied up to the middle pole of the boat, which was lifted and fastened in place to hold. It was made to catch the wind and utilize it to propel the boat with minimal effort on their part, which was a good innovation that should allow them to make it to their destination rather easily - weather permitting, of course. There was no predicting whether they would get the winds they need, nor if they'd be in the right direction, but he assured they could simply bind the sail and row if needed. Two sets of paddles were strapped to the bottom of the boat if they needed them.

He grumbled something incoherently as he managed the knots in the sail, the woman looking down at the two pokemon she'd set down. The youngest of the two, a little mole that was called a 'Diglett', was still trying to get her bearings. She had just been born mere days ago, but the woman couldn't wait any longer on this trip. If push came to shove, she would simply recall the both of the to balls to keep them safe. But as long as she could, she would keep them out so she could study them, watching them grow and noting their habits and skills. It was important to keep proper research on the pokemon under her care, after all.

The ground-type creature seemed to feel almost lost when she wasn't in the dirt. It was the first trait she noticed about the mole, outside the obvious physical appearance of the creature. Even now, the creature squeaked lightly as she tapped at the bottom of the boat, as if trying to find the dirt that should be beneath it. Of course their wasn't, the boat on the water as it leisurely floated out, pulled by the waves as the man set up the boat to sail. She kept pushing around, slowly with small movements as the baby was still getting used to her own limbs. Digging, however, seemed to be innate. Even from the first moment her tiny claws met the ground, the creature was working on digging, apparently preferring to keep part of her body submerged in the earth whenever possible.

She continued to crawl with her short limbs around the small section of the boat she was allotted. The pokemon spent a few moments of exploring, small hands feeling the ground and sliding across it as if she was pushing it out of the way. She used this to feel around, as well as her way of moving forward. It was almost a digging motion, but without ground to actually dig through, it just became her style of walking. She wanted to find the ground, but her still fuzzy vision wasn't showing that their was any, and she checked anyway. She trusted her other senses more than sight.

She bumped into the thick yellow snake, the bright colors always showing well in the sunlight. Even when the clouds rolled in or it was dark, the snake was pretty easy to see with his coloration and size. Being pretty young himself, the creature bonded somewhat easily with the diglett. It was an interesting bond to see form. Of her pokemon, it seemed only the lunatone was avoiding the newborn, seeming easily bored by her presence. The others, for mixed reasons as far as the woman could tell, had all paid more positive attention to the creature and seemed to enjoy having her around.

She looked up as the man, Rob, cleared his throat. "I take it we are ready to set off?" She questioned, her tone even and calm as always. He raised a hand to scratch lightly at the non-existent scuff on his face. His shaggy dark hair got touched barely from it, reaching just past his ears in a dark, wavy mess of hairs. "Yeah. Just a few instructions before we go. I'll manage the sail, but if'n I need your help just pull on the rope here. Visually holding the part of the rope, he continued after releasing. Shouldn't happen, 'less the winds get bad. The oars on the bottom will be used if a storm is too much for the cloth, or if there's no wind at all. They just slide out, to keep the fastens intact. Just keep yourself and the 'mons in the boat and not making too much movement, and we should be fine. Hopefully the seas are calm, in creatures and weather."

He finished his little speech, the woman nodding dutifully as she took note of his instructions. Just as she expected him to listen to her on medicine, she was willing to listen to his wholesome advice on the boat. This was an unfamiliar concept to her, so she needed the information and guidance to ensure she was efficient in helping support their trip to the island in any way she could. The man was a regular in her clinic, often trying to trip further out from the village for his captures. Many thought he was crazy for doing so, but the man was passionate about the fact that only the small fish stay in the normal fishing zones. It made sense, his logic, because if the pokemon notice humans coming to the same spot, they'd be more like to avoid it. Plus, the deeper the water, the more likely he'd be able to fish up something bigger that could provide more food for him and his family.

And thus, his request for support in going to the island was easy to accept. She'd often seen it in the horizon, hoping to go out and see it for herself. Despite the rather short distance there, it seemed many of the locals had minimal knowledge on what was there, what it looked like, the creature that inhabited it, etc. And her curious mind was unable to simply let it go. So, when the opportunity presented itself, she willingly offered her help in getting to the island and back, with the note that she would be able to take some documented research while she was there. It would be a rather short trip likely, but any new information was a positive gain.

With the two on the same page, they set off towards the island.

These are titles that anyone can win, really, from the newest to the oldest, because they are mostly based around personalities. These will likely take a lot of discussion and voting to determine winners. I am willing to accept two-way ties, but no more than that, so for many of these there might be hearty debate! Prizes will be given out at the end of the month.
