Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

It's the most wonderful
time of the year- meaning, the time of Delibird gifts and of winter festivals! And as always, our plot events are still going strong.

Season

winter will be here until
Aside from the western Great Forest, which is too warm, and the Desert Strip, which is too dry, snow begins to fall across the region. The chill of the season has just about every area firmly in its grasp. Ice and Dark types become more common as the temperature drops and the daylight fades.

Desert Strip

&

In a terrain that already varies drastically between hot and cold throughout the day, the desert pushes even more towards frigid as the seasons change to winter. Without precipitation, visibly and practically things are the same. But cooler air draws out those more suited to the environment, causing those to be spotted more often than the rest of the year.

Snow starts to fall, building up from the tops of the hills and falling to the bottom, which keeps a little warmer naturally. Thriving in the frosty environment, a couple thick creatures can be found moving around more actively than during other times in the year, enjoying the cold white sheet of snow covering the mountains.

Chilling Cliffs

The dangerous cliffs with whipping winds become icy and more hazardous than ever, but not to all creatures. A sure-footed soft pokemon with a love of the frigid surroundings is popping up and easily found in the cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Lion's Plains

With the change of seasons, the nights draw longer as days are cut short. With the darkness of night looming the longest it does each year, dark predators and prey take advantage of their natures, using the extended evenings to their advantage. New alolan dark types in particular are easier to find, coming out more but still not quite to used to this new world to stay perfectly hidden.

In addition, the plains are unable to avoid the snow that comes with the dropping temperatures. With this change, another species is brought out to enjoy it. Ice types can be found wandering more often when the snow is around.

The Vanillite swarm can only be activated when your character is out while it is snowing.

Though untouched by snow, temperatures are still dropping to a yearly low in the western half of the forest. As predators start to stalk away for the winter, finding the warmest places to sleep and coping with the change of season, the thicker furred creatures that are much more resistant to the cooler air can be found appearing more often.

Crying Plateau

Warmer than many other places in Terrene, the plateau is home to many creatures that prefer high temperatures year round. But still temperatures above water get the lowest they can for the area, causing most to stick to places that resist the cool air. One such creature is more naturally prepared for the chill, the puffy necked Buizels moving defiantly against the changes.

With winter coming in full, snow and ice start to decorate the forest, the trees becoming more barren and allowing the precipitation to fall to the ground. While many burrow for warmth and safety, Sneasels come out and bask in the cold, practically made to be in such weather, using the foragers and hibernating creatures abandoning common ground to their advantage.

And along the coast, waters chill to lethal temperatures, threatening people and pokemon alike. While many sea creatures push into the depths of the water, a duo with more well-padded and protected bodies stick to the surface. Seels and Shellder avoid the normal sway of migration and thrive in the cold, appearing along the coast much more often than ever.

Impressive, from my view

With an arm threaded through the hoop of the basket, the woman watched with studious eyes as the display of coordinated attacks and movements came to an end. It was intriguing, to say the least, seeing that this woman had taken the time and effort to not only train and learn the types of moves her many pokemon were able to perform, but also to think outside of the box in order to create a visual display such as this. Combined with the fact that she took effort to put this together for seemingly no compensation? She absolutely needed to know more.

But even as she waited patiently for the other spectators, many much louder and less patient than herself, to finish cheering and asking questions, she knew there was more to the inquiries lying in her head. She wanted to know how this woman was able to learn so intimately the patterns and abilities of her pokemon. Thus far, she only knew what her own two pokemon could do through them actually doing the moves - if there was more they could do, it wasn't known to her.

So a second opinion from someone clearly more educated in the matter seemed the proper course of action. But she wasn't interested in vying for the woma's attention against others. No, instead she'd simply wait out the others, allowing all else to chat with the performer before she herself could approach and ask the questions dwelling on her mind. Of course, she would use the extra time to finesse and fine tune the questions she did have, hoping to have an efficient conversation, so that they could both return to their own errands.

There were many things to see, to explore, to study at this fair just outside what seemed to be a much larger town. A city, it was called apparently, versus the village she was used to. It was a great experience, seeing this place in full with so many people from around Terrene. Not that this strange world seemed to have an overwhelming amount of people in it to begin with, but by comparison the expression still held value.

As the people started to go their own ways, the performer turning away from the final person who had approached to talk to her, she started to make her approach, watching as the woman set about her own business, thinking the questions were done. But, they'd only just begun. "Hello! You're show was absolutely splendid. Thank you so much for sharing your pokemon and their talents." She smiled warmly, calculated as she displayed the affection and joy people generally found as charming. This woman seemed the type to respond well to a more positive atmosphere.

For purposes of keeping this thread running, and so that people can come and go as they please, there is no posting order for this thread. Please be respectful of keeping the story with those you interact with, but Shae will be bouncing around from person to person as necessary, and coordinating her pokemon's moves and stuff while greeting people and answering questions!

If you have any questions about this thread or the order OOC, let me know~

Today was the day! The fair was on and she'd been preparing for this day the enitre year! Oh how excited the woman was about her idea. She'd always felt most comfortable as the center of attention, as someone who all eyes were trained on when she was talking. But this time, there would be so much more than just talking. Her pokemon had been training rigorously for this day, weaving their abilities in strange new ways that shaped the appearance of everything they did.

They'd focused not only on getting stronger, but of moving more gracefully. And using their abilities not just to harm others in order to protect themselves or others, but to make beautiful imagery around them, even if only for a moment. She was a performer at heart, and it was about time that she and her pokemon took on the spotlight, showing off their best skills and entertaining those around them. And this popular fair was the perfect debut, people from all over Terrene stopping in for the festivities.

She laid out her cloth off to the side, folding it up and placing it nearby, where she could get to it quickly, but out of the way so it wouldn't be in danger of getting her. She pulled off two pokeballs from her belt and activated them, the red lights pouring out at the same time on either side of the egg. Barry and Seb appeared, both looking around at their new environment. It was a little unused clearing at the edge of the fair. While traffic was normally a little slower here, she was confident their performance would grab the attention of many attending the festivities nearby.

If only she had a stage, or something to help her speak up. Alas, those were not things she had, so they'd have to make due without for the time being. She felt herself getting increasingly giddy as she moved around, placing a few makeshift balls to create a sort of line, to make sure people stayed back enough so as to not get in the way. Safety was, of course, the priority here, and there were going to be a lot of moves spreading around the area which could hurt anyone too close if they weren't careful.

Happily humming to herself, an upbeat tune to which she had no name, she kneeled down next to the two pokemon. "You two keep an eye on the egg, okay? At least until I call you. In which case I'll have one of the others trade you on duty." It would be great to have the slugs take care of the egg, but she wasn't entirely confident in them yet. They were still pretty new to the team, and there was more work to be done before they'd... well, listen to her for starters. They were aweful cute though, and she was happy to put in the work.

Nonetheless, it was time to get the grand debut started. Hopping back on her feet and placing the empty balls back in their places, Shae beamed a beautiful wide smile as she turned and took a few steps away from them, hand running along her belt to the next pokeball. Pulling it off her belt and activating it just the same. From it appeared the metal pokemon, the two gears turning into each other as it floated. "Kay, move into position. It's time for our opening combination!" Her voice rose out of excitement, Kay moving up and facing out to where others could see its flat faces.

"You know the drill. Charge!" The steel-type began collecting electricity, sparks developing around its form. The woman's hands pulled out two additional pokeballs, releasing the creatures inside on either equal side around the klink, aside from being on the ground of course. The blue turtle with the black shell came out, flopping her fins on the earth beneath her. She seemed to just really enjoy the feel of the dirt on her skin. And to her counter-side, the icy blue fox appeared, yawning and sitting on the ground gracefully, looking to Shae for instructions.

They were both still pretty young, the turtle a bit older than the fox, but they were both more than competent enough to complete the simple sequence. She was more worried about the glaceon over the tirtouga, but they'd been practicing this one combination with him, so she was confident it would go through perfectly. It was the one thing that the child needed to do for the day, but she felt like it was an amazing opening to grab some attention. It had to go brilliantly, and she had faith in her pokemon to make sure it did.

Kay was starting to shine, the sputtering sparks coalescing into a more even glow of electricity around the klink's body, floating above them in the air. The two other looked to her for guidance, and she decided it was time. "Okay you two, get together now!" She clapped as she started the commands, the turtle moving over to sit under yet just behind the klink. The glaceon padded over and hopped on the back of her shell, the air around him starting to cool intensely as he prepared his attack.

"Alright, you know what to do, and how to do it! Let's show everyone what we've got. Water Gun! Icy Wind! Thunder Shock!" She pointed to each of them as she issued their specific commands, the tirtouga moving first. Her head positioned straight up as the water collecting in her mouth. The stream came pouring out and up, shooting the distance just up above Kay's poisiton before fanning out in a fountain like pattern. Glaceon quickly followed up, summoning the cold winds around his body to swarm up and around the water, cooling it to the top.

As the water fanned from the top, the icy wind started to freeze the droplets spreading out, creating little shards of ice that glittered in the air around them, both the stream of water and the freezing continuing for a minute. While they did so, the electricity around Kay pushed out and curved, the shock of electricity swirling around the spray of icy shards in the air. The light was brilliant, and reflected off the shards beautifully, creating a myriad of reflected rays around them in a cacophony of light, splaying out and coloring the air around them.

Shae pivoted as they continued for a couple more minutes before cutting off their attacks, speaking before it ended. "Welcome one and all, to my wonderful pokemon show! We are here to dazzle and entertain, so feel free to stop by and watch these amazing creatures show off their great talents!" She projected her voice to no one in particular, expression beaming as she greeted those around her. The show was just getting started!

[OOC: Timeline - This takes place in Summer, before Leona left for Onix Peak. Dev Purpose: Terrene Appreciation ~ Also, Leona could use the tokens so 8,D]

Slender fingers rubbed at the buildup in the corners of narrow eyes as her feet plopped across the ground, no need to be graceful or sneaky. She was just going on a stroll to get out of the house for a while. It was... better, when the amount of time she was around the parents of the home was limited. It was clear they just wanted a family, and though they'd adopted the immigrant boy, adopting an adult likely around their age was not what they had ever considered. Well, there was no helping it.

Of course, they'd been cautiously exciting to hear about her decision to leave the house - and Ashfield entirely. Max was - still is - devastated, but she was taking the time to talk him through the decision. When she finally did leave, she had a feeling she'd be fighting to get that kid to stop clinging to her leg and trying to go with her. She rolled her eyes and smirked. Though she would never admit it, the kid was pretty cute, and definitely growing on her. It was more like a parasite, because she had no control over it and didn't want it there.

She recalled the night before. It had been a rather peaceful day. Jolteon, who was currently padding next to and around her, and herself had gone out on their run along the edge of the forest as usual. Well, their 4 runs for the day, anyway. Nonetheless, nothing happened. No pokemon, no people, nothing interrupted their exercises. Even the couple that seemed to loathe every time they had to look at her were in a strangely good mood. It had been a good day.

And at the end of the night, they tucked in their kids as usual. They always told stories to Max before he slept, but last night had really... stuck with her. It was apparently folklore of Terrene, supposedly not just limited to Ashfield. It sounded bogus to her, but she couldn't help thinking over it. It just, stuck for some reason. Maybe because deep down, she knew the surreal things that happened could be possible? No, of course not. That couldn't possibly be it.

The story was a tale about a humble, kind, yet poor man. He'd been struggling to make a living, and set out to the next town to get some jobs. But on the way, he ran into an older woman, who was having trouble getting around 'cause she was, well, old. He walked her home, and she gifted him with beans that made him rich with special berries, and therefore rich overall. And then some rich snob got jealous, tracked down the woman, and had his pokemon steal her cane so he could come to the rescue. But when he escorted her home and didn't receive a gift as thanks, he got angry. She lured him into his household, where he was apparently captured by ghosts and slowly drained for months before being let free, where he was much worse off in health and wealth.

Really puts things in perspective. Leona was more of the opinion generally that people should take care of themselves - but perhaps, sometimes, it was actually just her expectations for herself? Well, there was no real way to tell, but it didn't matter so she didn't dwell on it. However, it was certainly a curt reminder that she should at least offer help to someone in need. Having people be grateful to you was much more valuable than having them against you. Also like, don't be a jerk and attack people. For no reason, anyway.

The duo continued into the city, both still pretty tired but energy coming back quickly. It didn't take either of them too long to get up to full speed. Already, they were starting to pick up their pace, bystanders around who knew them, already diverting out of their way. Heh, they knew the routine, and what was coming. She flashed a smile to her fox, who returned the pleasant expression and took the hint. With a push of their legs, both human and pokemon took off full speed, sprinting forward and enjoying the breeze caused by their sudden increased pace.

They flew through the city, their path relatively straight as they pushed forward, moving quickly towards the trees. Kids scattered to get out of their way, or if they were more energetic and used to it, would join in the run for a minute before peeling off while giggling. They just couldn't keep up, and she liked it that way. It wasn't long until the silent pair were arriving at the edge of the forest, slowing down and coming to an eventual top just within the trees. She laughed with joy and continued jogging in place, not wanting to go in further at the moment, but definitely not wanting to stop moving. Jolteon ran around a tree a few times before zipping back.

She was just about to take off again before she froze. Was that... a voice? Her ear twitched as her expression turned to steel, listening in for any other indication of an abnormal sound. The voice called out again, sounding desperate. Oh, she really didn't want to, but she couldn't just ignore the plea. Huffing, she nodded towards where she thought it was coming from for the fox to see and turned to head towards it. She had to stop a couple times and listen for the voice to call out again, but after a bit of searching she tracked down the source.

A woman laid on the ground awkwardly, vines wrapped around a swollen and red ankle. Her dull lavender dress was stained with dirt and mud, and based on the marks on the ground and the bit of blood stained on her hands, she'd been here for a little bit. There was a roughly woven wooden basket a few feet away from her, a collection of berries rolled out all around it from where is presumably fell. When Leona crossed the bush, the leaves alerting the woman to her presence, tired, scared eyes looked up at her and waited, studying her. "I, uh..." She rubbed her arm awkwardly. "You need help?" She spoke curtly, eyes darting to the trapped ankle again.

"Oh please! My ankle got caught in this thorn vine, and my shaky hands can't get it untied. I tried to get it, but just went and got myself cut up. Last time I go berry-picking alone." her last complaint came as more of a grumbling than a statement. Shrugging, Ona moved forward, the electric-type looking curiously at the woman's predicament. Getting to the vine and squatting down, she studied it for a moment to find the best way. The blood from her struggling and it cutting her ankle as well made it tougher to see, but she got the gist.

The thorns definitely presented and issue. If she had a blade, she could just slice the side to make it loosen up and fall off. But unfortunately, finding one to buy proved to be tougher than she'd thought it would be. And getting the money to buy a decent one was even tougher. She pursed her lips, ignoring the elderly woman's expectant look as she thought. The thorns were small and sharp, which was worse. It meant there were more overall, and much tougher to avoid.

She dug through her nice backpack to see if she had anything that could be helpful, with no success. There was nothing that could buffer between her hands and the vine and still provide flexibility and control enough to untangle her, aside from the bag itself. And she was not dumping out the bag and risking tearing it for this when there was surely another solution. She turned to the jolteon and motioned towards the vine, making a scratching motion and then a biting motion. To which the jolteon promptly turned up her snout to show she refused.

"Some help you are." She grumbled, looking around the clearing. "Hang on just a second." She stood up and walked over to a fruitful bush with nice, luscious leaves. Feeling a leaf between her fingers, she felt the texture to see if it could work. It was just as it looked - tough and thick. That's what she needed. She plucked a bunch of the leaves and layered them on top of one another as she headed back over to the woman. With two stacks of leaves, she analyzed the vine and position the stacks on top of the vine in the two spots she needed. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed the stacks and rolled them over the vine to get her hopefully safe grip.

And as expected, it worked. They were flimsy enough that she could roll them all around the vine to have full control, if a little stiff. And they were thick enough and stacked enough that the thorns couldn't break through to her hands. It took a little getting used to with the thorns tugging at the bottom leaves and not the top, but she carefully got the hang of it and set to loosening and untying the knot that had formed. Aside from a few sharp noises of pain from the older woman, there was no commentary.

Soon enough, the woman was free. "Oh lord that feels better already. Would you mind grabbing my bag so I can wrap the wound?" The woman pointed over to a tree, where a small basic bag sat, fastened shut and tucked beneath the root. Leona fetched the back and brought it back. "Thank you so much for your help. I've got some extra cloth for emergencies in here to stop the bleeding." That was... smart, and something she should probably keep in mind. She watched at the woman wrapped her ankles, and then started to struggle with wrapping her hands.

Rolling her eyes, Leona wordlessly reached and took the cloth softly, not being too assertive but making her offer clear. The woman relented with a sigh of relief as she set to wrapping her hands, only speaking to ask if it was too tight. The first was fine, the second had to be loosened a bit. With that done, Leo stood back up and waited, wondering if this woman could walk. "Oh no, please, I don't want to impose any further." She huffed, walking about to pick up the basket and the berries for the woman. Well, she'd helped this much. Might as well continue.

With all her things collected, she hung the basket and bag on her arm and reached to help the woman up. This was already uncomfortably close to the story she couldn't get out of her head. "Here." The elder nodded and struggled up to her feet, even with her help. Once she was up, biting her lip to deal with the stinging from her wounds, she started to shuffle. "I can take you back. Not like I have anywhere else to be." She gave a faint smile, which was returned with a warmer, more grateful smile.

"You are such a kind woman. I'm blessed with luck to have it be you who found me." Ona turned her head to the path ahead and held her expression together, heat rising at her cheeks. What was this feeling? It was new. And annoying. And painful? No, not really. She was imagining pain. Maybe it was because she felt emotionally pained hearing the compliment? No, that was just weird. Whatever. It was new, and she hated new things she couldn't remember, but she tried to push down the anger. At least until she got this woman home. Then she could shout all she wanted.

It was a struggle, and took way too long, but eventually they manged to shuffle their way to the elderly woman's house. They arrived, and she idly wondered... based on the story, this is where she would receive a gift for providing help. She didn't really want to be rich... but something free to help her get to her destination once she decided to leave would be great. She got the woman inside and to her cruddy bed. It was clear the woman lived alone, and wasn't exactly well off. "Thank you again for all your help. You really didn't need to do so much.

The woman's gaze trailed off to the floor, as if she was... embarrassed? Ashamed? What was the emotion? "I'm sorry, but I can't give you anything for your help. I just can't afford to spare anything. I hope you understand. Well, that was disappointing. Though Leona's eyes glanced at the berries, she stopped herself. Think of the story, dummy. The greedy one did not get the happy ending. Was this woman likely a ghost? Of course not. She was bleeding, her heart was beating. This was not a ghost.

But after having her entire flipping memory wiped and left in the middle of a field of ash with nothing but a few berries and some other items not useful for survival? Yeah, she wasn't exactly about to tempt fate if she could avoid it.

"No worries at all. I understand. If I was in your situation, I'd say the same. I'm not exactly loaded either." She didn't smile, but the elder did. "Well, your always welcome if you need a place to stay. Otherwise, I think I'll get some rest, if you don't mind." eo nodded and stood straight. "Of course. We'll be on our way." She turned and headed out the door without another look back at the injured woman. Well, she hadn't gotten anything for her efforts, but it's not like it had hurt her in any way. So long as whatever ridiculous gods ruled (if any) didn't throw her a curve ball for her good deed, she wasn't complaining.

The ever so rare breeze rushed in, pushed in from the seas of the coast she walked by. The salt from the ocean water carried over through the air, the scent dusting beneath her nose as she took step after careful step. From high above in the sky, the sun beat down, the late afternoon heat still well in gear as a few beads of sweat trickled down the side of a pronounced, strong jaw line. There was no noise for the moment, aside from boots pressing into the sands and the gentle waves beating against the shore.

Since it was so hot out, Arshia kept her pokemon in their balls for now. Paras didn't do well in such a dry environment, the salt water not helping much to keep him hydrated. The rock didn't seem to mind much, though had a clear preference for the night. She usually kept to the nights as well, preferring to keep her pokemon out while she strolled, but she had picked up an off-job late at night tonight, so she got up earlier to accommodate. This way, she could do the job and still get her exercise and exploration in.

She'd walked many times up and down the water's edge, preferring to keep near something that could easily guide her back to the little town. It would be pretty hard to lose sight of the entire ocean, after all. Some people deigned to venture straight into the desert, but she wasn't willing to make such a reckless escapade without being thoroughly prepared first, and having a destination in mind. She knew that getting out of this town was ideal - She'd been able to pull off not revealing her status as an immigrant thus far, but it was clear how many in the town felt about those like her. And she wasn't keen on the extra trouble that came from such being revealed.

Her thoughts continued, as she analyzed her situation and the behaviors of those in the town, with other thoughts crossing her minds simultaneously. It took many things to busy her mind, but she was sure to keep completely aware of her surroundings as well. She was not a woman who took joy out of being surprised. No, she needed to be ready for anything. There could be dangers lurking near the water's edge, more so the further from the settlement that she got. But she was confident that anything this close to Oasis wouldn't be something she and her team couldn't handle.
