Our old universe has fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

The biggest event of the season- of the year, even- is the Anniversary Fair, and it is here again! We have a scary story contest. Our plot events are still going strong.

Autumn will be here until December. All of Terrene is cooling by degrees; those in Ashfield scarcely notice because it never truly gets cold there, though they will notice the decreased rains and humidity. Winds pick up, particularly in the southern areas. Ghost types are more common this season.

Desk Lamp

Desk Lamp was lying in bed, a cat of unusual size curled up next to them, rather frustrated at how light it was getting in their room. The lights were off and it was most certainly nighttime, so something was definitely wrong, but they were just too lazy to do anything about it right now. Besides, what could possibly be worth disturbing the cat? They really hadn't been spending enough quality time with him. Maybe they'd call in their mom?

A few annoying wails of "Mooooom" later, Desk Lamp's mom was not present. Ugh. Still too lazy to move. It was a crime to be forced to get out of bed once it was later than 8:30 anyway, even if they couldn't sleep with how bright it was.

Eventually, their annoyance beat out everything else, and they rolled out of bed with a few melodramatic pterodactyl noises. They opened the window blinds and pressed their face to the glass, trying to see what was going on. It looked like the sun was in the sky, or something burning up, anyway. Was their house about to be hit by a meteor? Lit. That was always how they'd wanted to go. That would leave several things undone on their bucket list, but oh well. Dying dramatically was on their bucket list, and they didn't fancy the idea of going to school tomorrow anyway. They wiggled back next to their cat, listening to him purr as they scratched his cheek. "Hey, Beanie, are you okay with this?" they yawned. "Oh, you big bean. You are so cute."

"Is it just me, or is it darker in this tunnel?" Naka's lantern shed enough light to see a good distance, but the details of anything its light didn't reach were obscured by darkness. She hoped her pokemon were able to see better than she could. Stunky certainly could, but she wasn't sure about the others. On the plus side, there had been a smaller pickaxe for her to take this time, and she could carry it in one hand without too much difficulty. She didn't trust anyone but herself with the responsibility of watching her egg, so she'd brought her entire backpack with her.

"//What exactly are we doing in here?//" Scyther asked. There were a lot of rocks, but not much else to see. She assumed the presence of rocks meant the presence of rock-types, which was not optimal for her.

"//Looking for metal. Shiny stuff,//" Stunky answered. "//We also get to keep anything useful we happen to find, apparently.//" Exactly what the definition of "useful" was, she didn't know. She wasn't a human. Maybe Naka could trade a sparkly rock for something practical? Humans sure did like their sparkly things. She hadn't seen any particularly sparkly rocks yet, though.

Shroomish knew he was the first line of defense against the pokemon most often found in caves like this, so he patrolled the lantern-lit area, scouting around corners as best he could. Nobody antagonizing him yet. Nobody at all, actually. Well, he'd have an opportunity to prove he was strong soon, if this went anything like last time.

Naka and crew (sans Shroomish, who couldn't climb and was willing to act as a guard for Naka's stuff, the egg in particular) were out searching for food to supplement the supply they got at Omega's base. Scyther, whose injury had healed over so it was nothing more than a harmless light stripe over her chest, was having the time of her life slashing at anything soft enough to scratch. Every wicked scrape she left behind was a point of pride. Hah! Nothing could hold her back now! ...Except that persistent feeling from her stomach that it needed food. She dropped to the ground to avoid alerting prey with the buzzing of her wings, and walking was almost a new experience in itself. Soon enough, she heard the faintest squeak off in the distance. She smiled and zipped off to catch her meal.

Stunky had just taken something of a fall, bouncing and squeaking in protest a few times before landing flat on her back. This whole "rocky terrain" thing did not sit well with her. She groaned as she got back on her paws to plod along further. Her unpleasant odor was coming in handy in a brand new way- she'd be able to follow her own scent trail back to the base, or, rather, to an alcove near the base Naka had chosen after being hit on by one too many unsavory person. Stunky couldn't blame her, and probably would have done exactly the same thing. She sniffed the air, smelling something crisp and cool, almost minty. She headed in that direction, unaware of the predator lurking nearby.

Naka herself had just reached the tip of a rocky spire, a good vantage point for creatures reliant on their eyesight. Unfortunately, a lichen could easily be mistaken for a leaf, and the few shallow patches of soil she saw were annoyingly barren. She supposed she could eat more of the slop Omega was calling provisions, but that would mean she would have to fight off more ruffians apparently trying to be nice to her. Hmph. There were two pokemon walking together, one a pale blue thing looking pathetically weak, the other a hulking mass of white who would probably not appreciate their companion being used as food. Naka doubted she could take that one on.

There were all sorts of pokemon in the forest that only came out in the evening hours, Aimess had learned. They'd heard hushed rumors about ghost-type pokemon coming closer to Ashfield. That seemed to happen every fall, and they wondered what drove this behavioral pattern. They had a few half-formed explanations that didn't really hold any water, but they didn't care that much about it- nothing bad had ever happened to anyone who stayed inside the city limits, as far as they knew.

Of course, Aimess was not within the city limits. Nocturnal pokemon were interesting, and a buddy for Goodstuffs to play with instead of hapless inanimate objects would be nice, especially when she was up late with nobody to stop the carnage wreaked upon the lower parts of the furniture. If they were to take a pokemon home, they hoped it wouldn't be as rambunctious as their pink friend.

Goodstuffs, oblivious to any risk she might be taking, trotted along beside Aimess, occasionally stopping to sniff an interesting plant. One was pretty, but smelled really yucky! She wanted to take that one home! Aimess had to stop while Goodstuffs snuffled intently around the roots of a tree. They wondered what she smelled.

They looked up, and the moon was high in the sky, its pale gleam passing through the canopy and lighting the ground ahead fairly well. In another direction was faint torchlight telltale of a human settlement. With their poor sense of direction, Aimess decided to keep Ashfield in sight so they didn't get lost. They tapped their foot as they waited for Goodstuffs to finish up.

One of Aimess' life philosophies was that any sensible person always had to have tasty snacks in their pockets. Since they'd fed both of their backup sweet hearts to a wild Pumpkaboo (who they were still mourning the loss of- he seemed like a fun little fellow), they needed to replenish their candy supply. Just two more sweet hearts would be fine, they figured. One for giving out, one for emergency medicinal purposes.

They found a reasonable-looking vendor with a nice hat selling all sorts of sweets. They approached, having to reprimand Goodstuffs for trying to pilfer the lower-hanging fruit gumdrops. "You wouldn't happen to have sweet hearts, would you? I'm in need of a couple."
