Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Cecilia took a deep breath as she entered the mouth of the tunnel. She felt grateful for the warmth of Sweet Pea, her little rowlet on her shoulder. The young owl pokemon wasn't terribly strong yet and she and Cecilia were still getting to know each other, but Cecilia had already seen how brave she could be in a pinch. Bouncing eagerly ahead of them was Grape the gligar, hopping up and down on his long tail and not phased at all by the creepy dark cave.

"Don't go too far ahead, Grape. We need to wait here for back up. Wait, Grape." Cecilia commanded firmly. The gligar was naturally adventurous and brazen. However, he'd grown to trust Cecilia enough to obey her commands even when he didn't like them. He settled himself on his feet and decided to just explore the immediate area. He'd never seen a place like this, so large and dark and deep. He couldn't wait to see what sort of pokemon lived in here.

Following a bit uneasily behind Cecilia was her Mr. Mime, Sugar. Sugar hadn't been with Cecilia long enough to develop the kind of trust that Grape had. She wasn't liking this place one bit. It didn't look fun at all. The only reason why she followed at this point was because she was more afraid of being left behind and alone.

"Hey, it's okay girls," Cecilia told Sweet Pea and Sugar, giving the Mr. Mime a squeeze on the shoulder for an extra bit of reassurance. "I'm sure it's not as scary as it looks, and someone should be joining us to help with the journey. Doesn't that sound fun? We might make some new friends."

This made Sugar brighten a little. Fun and friends were the best things ever, and they were totally worth checking out a spooky cave. It was good that she thought so, because Cecilia already knew she wouldn't be getting paid much for this work. They were here for the sake of science. Cecilia was interested in Omega's research and she was eager to see the results of his work. If all she needed to do to help out in a historic undertaking was doing a little digging for ore, then she would do her best. Plus, it was an opportunity for her team to train and grow. Friends and fun, Cecilia thought firmly on repeat as much for her own benefit as for Sugar's.

Diglett Egg Post 2

Down To Business
There had been many times since arriving in Terrene that Arshia was glad to have thick boots to walk with. It seemed that such durable footwear wasn't entirely common, as the amount of time and resources to make such were much more substantial than basic footwear. Given how new the world was, and how scarce resources could be, it made sense that many weren't willing to sell boots without the supplies being brought to them. The hard, rocky ground was easy for her though, since she was lucky enough to have appeared with boots. Or perhaps, she'd simply been prepared in a previous life.

She walked up the mountain path, towards the tunnel she'd been directed to meet another at. The pickaxe was fastened to her waist, and a large backpack hung off her shoulders, the two eggs safely nestled inside with cloth to keep them from getting damaged from any of the other items in there, or each other. She was admittedly hesitant to bring the eggs with her on this excursion, but there simply wasn't anyone she could trust to watch over them at camp while she was up here. So bringing them along was the only option.

Seeing the open face of the tunnel up ahead, her eyes caught on the human and the pokemon around her. It appeared that this woman had three, similar to herself if she didn't count the unhatched duo. There was a bird perched on her shoulder - a flying type, something she still needed on her team. She desired a large bird one day to use as a mount for quick travels to anywhere she needs to go. By her was a strange looking on, almost humanoid in shape but much stranger than a human. The coloration and shape made it clear it was another pokemon, and certainly one that piqued her interest. A bit further up, waiting to continue into the tunnel, was a purple pokemon with wings and a thick tail. Curious.

She waved as she approached, hoping to gain the attention of the taller woman. None of her pokemon were out, but her three pokeballs were sitting ready in a pocket on the side of the bag. It would be easy to grab them, and since this was about to begin, she went ahead and pulled the closest one, which held her first creature. "Hello! You can call me Gem. I'm from Oasis Village. May I ask your name?" She spoke clear and concisely as she activated the pokeball, the small orange insectoid appearing from the red light and looking around curiously, one of his mushrooms bigger than the other. He skittered a few steps forward, looking around before stopping and looking up at the Mr. Mime. Arshia tucked the ball back in it's pocket, awaiting an answer from the woman with a soft grin.

"Ready?" Once the introductions were over, it was time to get to business. They were here for a specific purpose after all. Once Cecelia indicated she was ready, she would start to head in, the paras rushing up to walk next to his trainer, curious what this place was and where they were going. It seemed like this woman always went to new sites that he'd never seen before. Heck, he didn't even know what the desert was until he traveled there to find her because he felt like it. He never quite understood the feeling, but never really questioned it either.

Cecilia hadn't waited too long before she was joined by another woman. She was beautiful, and she certainly seemed friendly enough. She introduced herself politely as she released her first pokemon. Cecilia could see that she had other pokeballs in her bag, so she seemed to be well prepared. "My name is Cecilia. I'm from Forest Beach Village. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Gem." The name seemed fitting. This woman had an inner glow about her. It was obvious enough that Cecilia could see it even though they'd just met.

"Mii-iime!" Sugar sang as she waved a big hands at the paras in greeting.

"I think we're ready," Cecilia said, reaching up with one hand to stroke Sweet Pea on her wing. Grape was bouncing up and down on his tail, tongue poking out of his mouth, ready to get on with things. He liked this new human. She didn't spend too much time yapping and got right to the action. Grape happily got down on his feet and led the way, glancing back over his shoulder now and again to make sure that the humans didn't fall far behind.

As the two women made their way into the tunnels it wouldn’t be long before they came across an odd pair of pokemon. Stumbling side-to-side was a strange spotted bear. The red spots were scattered all over his brown fur. Appearing to try to make his way deeper into the tunnels, the spinda couldn’t help but giggle as a tiny pink creature waddled in circles around him.

This tiny fairy was attempting to keep the bear from falling over or butting into a wall. Her large ears bending back with worry and her tiny arms reaching up in a panic. “Stay steady, my friend!” she yelped at the bear.

The spotted bear looked down at the little fairy who he could swear he saw two of. “Will both of you calm down, I’m walking just fine!” the spinda giggled.

Cleffa looked up with worry on her face. “This isn’t funny, you’re going to get us in trouble if you stumble into another scary rock monster!” she cried. The tiny fairy flashed back to the time they were almost crushed by a nosepass who wanted to press the pink creature into pixie dust.

Stopping in their tracks, the two(three?) pokemon listened carefully as they could swear they were either approaching something, or someone was sneaking up on them. The fairy looked around with her ears perking up. “Did you hear that?” she whispered to the spinda.

The bear turned around, almost falling over, checking to see if anything was behind him, but all he could see was a darkness stretching down the path they came. “I think we’re fine. Besides three against one? We’re fine!” the spinda attempted to reassure the cleffa but she knew better. Things weren’t safe in this tunnel for weaklings like them.

Just when the spinda and cleffa(s?) were going to continue down the path, there was a sudden rumbling. Squinting toward the dark, cleffa could see rock like creatures hovering ahead. “I knew it..” she whispered to the bear.

“Okay, let’s just wait and see what they do. We’ll run in the other direction if we have to,” the spinda suggested. Cleffa took shelter behind the spinda, who was rather difficult to use as a shield when he kept waddling.

Not too far up the two rock creatures hovered opposite enough other. One, being round with two arms with heavy fists protruding from his sides. “Come on, I’d make the best mate! Check out these guns, baby!” said the geodude attempting to flex his muscles. If he could kiss them he would, but he didn’t have a neck to stretch over.

The second rock formation was a gem like creature with rabbit like ears poking from its head. With glowing blue eyes, it squinted at the geodude trying to woo it. “Are you making fun of me because I don’t have any arms?” it groaned, completely missing the point of his gesture. The carbink was unimpressed with the geodudes advances and would honestly have liked to go back to looking for gems to eat.

Taking Suggestions
Arshia immediately noted the fact that this woman was from Forest Beach - After all, that being her cover story for her native persona, she needed to carefully consider that exposing such information could make a hole in her story. And of course, she had. She'd run through the scenario time and time again before, preparing herself for times when she might run into someone who was actually a resident of that village. Of course, she'd run into them a few times before, but always using her real name. That was how she collected information on the village and its surroundings, in order to make her story as Gem believable.

Still, there seemed to be no need at the moment to worry that Cecelia might pry for information. They were here for a purpose, and though the woman had given information, it was just the same as she had given herself. It was something to prepare for, of course, but she would not be the one to instigate such conversation. If it could simply be avoided, then all the better. And though she was prepared with a few questions herself for conversation to gather more information on her partner for the day, it seemed that this was not the time for it. They'd barely made it into the tunnel before a few pokemon made their appearance before the group.

She watched, studying patiently as she assessed the situation and possible actions to take. Being in the wilds, fighting was always a possibility that one had to be prepared for. She was ready to fight, hand brushing over the eggs and towards her pokeballs, but wouldn't jump to action unless it was absolutely necessary. After all, there was no telling how long it would take them to find the ore. It was best to preserve their strength and energy as long as possible, to ensure they achieved their goal and returned to camp safely with it in hand. And luckily, the pokemon didn't seem aggressive.

Of the 4, the cleffa pulled the most interest to her. Bears in caves wasn't a far-fetched idea, and the two rocks were literally in their element here. However, the little pink fluff was clearly the odd ball out of the bunch. Was it placed here, a happenstance, or was its kind naturally here in this type of place? It was intriguing to say the least to think about. She certainly had an interest in studying the creature. If it was adapted to thrive in a mountain, despite looking soft and fragile, then it was clearly a scientific curiosity. Was its species originally from these parts, or did it simply adapt to the area it was in after something caused it to migrate?

The thoughts were swarming, but the woman didn't lose sight of where they were, what they were doing. She had a strong interest in capturing this pokemon, glad she had brought some empty devices with her, but she didn't want to cause a scene and trigger the others to become aggressive. While she was willing to take the chance for the sake of her research, she couldn't simply disregard the thoughts and ideas of the woman next to her. So, perhaps this other would be interested in the same - or, she would want to continue past these. There was always a chance she could find it again on the way out, but either way she needed to figure out what it was the woman would want to do.

Gem's voice was low, practically a whisper but enough to deliver the message clearly to Cecelia. "While I would welcome the chance to capture the pink one, it could cause aggression in the others. We could likely cross past them without any backlash, if we are careful about it. How would you like to proceed?" While Arshia was not a woman to commonly allow others to decide what she does, she was interested in her thoughts. After all, she could still do as she wished, but Cecelia's words could help break the tie between her curiosity in the cleffa and her desire to avoid a needless fight. She thought the chances were very low that she could capture the pokemon and the others would simply stand by or run away rather than attacking. Paras simply stopped next to her leg, curiously looking on but waiting on instruction to move - from either the mushrooms or the human.

"It is cute, isn't it?" Cecilia whispered back, mistakenly believing that Gem's interest in this pokemon had more to do with its looks than scientific curiosity. "Maybe you can coax it into coming along without upsetting anyone. I have an idea. These pokemon live in these tunnels, so if we describe to them what we're looking for, maybe they can help us find it. I'll send an ambassador."

Cecilia motioned Sugar to come close to her, and then she bent to whisper to the psychic type. "Would you like to make some friends? There are some pokemon up ahead here, and we want them to be friends with us. Please ask them if they have seen any red streaks in the cave walls anyplace. Ask them to tell us where they've seen it." Cecilia instructed the pokemon, making a motion with her hand against the cave wall to indicate what a streak was. Sugar gave a wide smile and nodded in agreement. Before they'd started, Omega's worker had explained that red streaks in the rock were a sign of an iron ore deposit. If they could find that, they'd know where to dig.

The mr. mime eagerly complied, heading over to the group of pokemon while Cecilia and the others hung back. It didn't occur to her that the other pokemon might not cooperate. Despite her negative experiences with trying to befriend strangers, Sugar remained obstinately optimistic. Cecilia called Grape closer to her and watched Sugar. "If they're mean to Sugar, we may have a fight. Wait," She told the gligar beside her and the rowlet on her shoulder, holding one hand up with her fingers spread to add a visual cue to back up the verbal command. Cecilia often needed Sugar's help to translate more complicated orders, but simple instructions like "wait" were easily understood at this point. Grape growled softly and crouched at Cecilia's feet. He wasn't necessarily hoping for a fight, but he hated to be bored. He hoped they wouldn't be waiting long either way.

"Heeyoo!" Sugar sang out in her pokespeak as she approached the group of pokemon. She smiled happily and waved her big hands at everyone. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. Would you mind helping me? I'm new here in the cave, and I'm looking for a place with red streaks on the walls. Have any of you seen a place like that?"

From the fairy and bears observation, the geodude was appearing to try and woo the carbink. The cleffa thought it was sweet but kind of strange. Especially since the bunny-eared rock had no gender. Geodude would have an odd time trying to breed with the fairy rock. Perhaps it was possible? The cleffa wasn’t entirely sure.

Spinda wanted to burst with laughter and he probably would have but he remembered they were supposed to be quiet. He couldn’t wait for the geodude to find out. Perhaps the two rock creatures would be on their way. Cleffa and spinda could continue down the tunnels and go on about their business. It didn’t seem like this was going to happen anytime soon though. The geodude was persistent.

Distracted with the situation at hand, the fairy and bear duo almost didn’t notice the creepy creature sneaking up behind them. Cleffa’s ears perked up as she heard the mime approached. She panicked and scooted around the other side of her panda friend. “We’re surrounded on all sides!” she cried.

The spinda turned around to take a look as to what she was talking about, only to stumble slightly. As much as he frequently almost fell over, he never seemed to face plant as much as one would think. The bear took a gaze at the mime, wondering what the psychic was up to. Was she here to attack?

Sugar had waved at the two pokemon and immediately they flinched. “Ah! She’s going to smack us!” the cleffa shrieked as she tucked herself lower behind the spinda. The bear was giggling out loud. Sure he wasn’t sure what the mime was up to but he honestly thought the fairy was overreacting.

“Hey there!” The spinda responded. “Red streaks on the walls? Sure!” he continued. The bear had remembered seeing a few red streaks further up passed the rock creatures. Maybe it was one streak? Either way the bear didn’t see a reason not to help the strange pokemon other than the fact she could have bad intentions.

Cleffa listened in despite her fear of unknown pokemon. She could hear that her fellow fairy was seeking help finding the unique minerals of this cave that humans often came in search for. The fairy remembered a particular human who had come looking for minerals before. She remember being punted by one as well. If this mime was looking for it for her own purposes then she’d gladly lead the way. If it was for a human she wanted no part in assisting.

“We’ll help you out, if you’re willing to help us out first!” the dizzy bear blurted out. “Get those stupid rock monsters to move and we’ll show you the way,” he smiled. Spinda was not about doing for others for the fun of it. He was a favor for a favor kind of ‘mon. Besides, psychic types are pretty strong from what he’s witnessed in his past.

“Yeah that sounds like a plan,” the cleffa added. “Please help us!?”

Diglett Egg Post 7

Appreciating The Strategy
The woman mentioned that the pokemon in question was 'cute', in a context that made it seem as if Arshia was the one suggesting it was in the first place. Of course, that certainly hadn't been what she'd intended. Cute was generally a word used as an emotional reaction to something that was pleasant to the eye and inspired certain emotions in a person - and to certain people, the definition of the feeling would change, which made the concept of 'Cute' something to be considered abstract, rather than direct. And though abstract thought certainly served its purpose in many situations, the word 'Cute' was certainly not something she found to be useful.

However, as the woman continued on, her plan to deal with these pokemon diplomatically was a good idea. Having one of her pokemon to try and gain the aid of those who lived in these tunnels, in tracking down the ore that they were seeking, was a solid plan. Of course there was no telling how the pokemon would react, but if her strategy worked positively, getting the metal would be a breeze. Her lips curled up into a soft smile as the woman wrapped up her sentence explaining the idea, moving into gesturing one of her pokemon to approach her. The odd, humanoid-like one.

What she would give for one of those devices referred to as a pokedex at the moment. The information they stored provided immeasurable information that she wished she could study everywhere she went. Surely having such a database at her disposal would provide priceless assistance in many areas of her life. In this instance, she was curious of all the new pokemon around her that she hadn't yet come across in her very few travels. Perhaps there would be time for more questions later, especially on the odd one she was asking help from.

She nodded as the Mr.Mime went off in approval, still whispering. "A very solid plan. It's admirable that your pokemon is able to understand and follow such instruction. Have you had that creature for long, or is it just naturally adept to interpreting the human language?" She was honestly curious. Her own main partner was certainly not bright enough to understand anything outside simple commands. And with those parasitic mushrooms on its back, sometimes it had no ability to follow the order, since the mushrooms would pull control over its small body. She had yet to find a way to neutralize that effect and allow the pokemon to function independently from the parasites.

Cecelia was preparing just in case they would need to fight, and just the same Arshia's hand snaked into her bag, pulling out one, and then another pokeball, holding them in either hand. She didn't think it would be necessary, but she also wasn't sold on which she would bring out. One was very strong, and more likely to follow orders, while the other could use the experience in more fighs, but certainly was more of a wild card. She hadn't quite gotten its respect in the pokemon-trainer relationship with it yet, so anything too dangerous for them would require the more reliable source to be used.

She watched carefully, Paras resting at her foot, as the Mr. Mime started to talk to the pokemon, keeping an even closer eye on the little pink pokemon. It was clear that this pokemon had to had some sort of hidden strength, or else it and its kind would have been chased out of these tunnels long ago. And given its body shape and lack of claws, she figured that it was likely not a creature that could dig to escape predators. Either way, whether this stayed peaceful or turned hostile, she was ready to act as needed.

Sugar ignored the cleffa's panic as she approached. She was used to the sort of reaction. Most of the villagers in Forest Beach greeted her with similar enthusiasm until she became part of Cecilia's team. She listened to the pokemon's demands, tilting her head thoughtfully as she listened. It sounded reasonable, even easy. "Oh, you just need them to move? Have you tried just asking?" Sugar asked gesturing to the rock pokemon just a bit further ahead. She looked from the face of the cleffa to the face of the spinda, extending one hand nervously to catch Spinda if it toppled over. Then she shrugged and cheerfully marched on towards the two rock type pokemon.

"Excuse me," Sugar greeted the rock type pokemon with her usual sing-song cheerfulness. "Would you two mind moving aside just a bit? My friends and I need to pass through. Please and thank you!" Sugar had every expectation that they would simply move at her request. Why wouldn't they? What pokemon would choose to risk their lives in a fight instead of just scooting over? Because despite her sweet behavior, Sugar was more than capable of defending herself if it came right down to it.

Meanwhile, Cecilia waited with Arshia and the rest of their pokemon. A lot of time hadn't passed, but Cecilia was already growing a bit anxious. She couldn't see much from where they stood as they were so far back, but she was sure that if the pokemon were fighting they would hear it. "I've only had her for a few months. I found her in the village where I live shortly after I arrived." Cecilia carefully left out that Sugar had been harassing the villagers. The entire village had been terrified of her, and her attention-seeking displays of power only convinced them that she was a kind of ghost or monster. In fact, now that she thought about it, maybe Sugar wasn't the best ambassador..."I think she understands so well because she spent so much time among the people of the village. She's also very smart. She's a fairy and a psychic type, so her powers are a little mysterious."

"My other pokemon don't understand as well, but I find they're both learning quickly. Grape has grown a lot bigger too. He might be nearly full-grown." Cecilia continued. Grape straightened at the sound of his name, looking expectantly up into his trainer's face. Cecilia shifted from foot to foot, fighting the urge to just go towards the pokemon and check the situation out herself. She didn't know how they'd react to the sudden appearance of humans. She had a bad feeling, like something was just bound to go horribly wrong. "I try to teach with hand signals as well as words. I don't know if it helps necessarily, but I feel like it would be useful to give my pokemon instructions non-verbally."

Sugar was moving further into the cave, away from the two pokemon she 'd been speaking with. Cecilia could no longer see her at all, which gave the trainer a terrible sinking sensation in her stomach. They weren't fighting, but she felt certain that this wasn't good. Cecilia looked quickly between her two waiting pokemon, Grape and Sweet Pea. "Sweet Pea, go check on Sugar please." Cecilia said, using her hand signals to reinforce the order. She gave the rowlet a gentle pat on her belly and then pointed down the tunnel in the direction that Sugar had gone. Cecilia then indicated to her eyes and Sweet Pea's eyes to express that this was a reconnaissance mission.

Sweet Pea brightened and extended her wings for a moment, pausing to put together what she was being ordered to do. Then, she took off and fluttered down the tunnel towards the pokemon, carefully looking about. She wasn't sure what her trainer had her looking for, but she was pleased to be given a task she knew she could accomplish. Grape was less pleased, and he chittered argumentatively at his trainer. He was the strongest. If there was any fighting to be done, he should be involved. However, Cecilia just reached down and rubbed him between his ears placatingly. She'd calculated this decision carefully and decided that Sweet Pea looked the least threatening. Sweet Pea was the least likely to be interpreted as a threat by the pokemon they wanted to win over.

Cleffa looked up at the fellow fairy type in silence. The question from the mime confused her. Ask? There was no way she was going to stroll up to any creature with big fists and just ask them to do anything. She shivered at the idea of the geodude punching her into another universe. She didn’t have anything to say in this situation, so she just stayed hiding behind the spinda. There was also something off about this mime, at least to her anyway.

Spinda was surprised by the suggestion as well. It wasn’t that he was scared to ask himself. The bear was just mostly lazy. Why should he ask them to move when he could just wait for them to be finished with their business? The panda turned around almost falling over and watched as the mime made her way over to the carbink and geodude. “This should be interesting,” he whispered to his tiny fairy friend. The cleffa folded her ears back as she watched.

Still flexing his arms, the geodude was failing to impress the carbink who honestly just wanted to keep eating its rubble. It found a tasty pile of rocks and this geodude was seriously in its way. Seeing the strange clown approach, the rock fairy’s ears perked up in alert. It wasn’t prepared to see this strange creature walking up to them so friendly.

The geodude eyed the clown up and down. At first he thought it was some kind of predator but taking a good look he could easily see that it was just an oddly shaped human. Probably a child. They were the ugliest of humans. With all those colors and strangely thin limbs, it was definitely a human offspring. How did they ever make it to adulthood? They didn’t even have a solid body like the geodude did.

“Bruh, you’re seriously throwing off my game,” he replied to Sugar’s request for the two rock types to move. “Besides, we don’t like squishy humans in our home!” he groaned.

Carbink rolled its eyes at the geodude. He was an idiot. “It’s not a human! She’s obviously a fairy,” the other fairy said correcting the legless boulder. It took a whiff from where it was floating. “A sort of…”

Geodude just chuckled lightly. “Okay honey, whatever you say,” mocking the carbink as he gave the mime a wink. “Listen nerd, why don’t you return to your mommy and daddy while the big kids get to know each other a little better,” he said, patronizing the psychic fairy.

Giving the geodude an impatient glare, the carbink scoffed. Before it could say anything else it noticed a bird like creature arriving to the scene. This was odd. What would an owl be doing in these tunnels? Speaking of which, it was strange for the mime to be here as well. Something was fishy here and carbink didn’t like what it was sensing come from these two. There was some kind of aura they gave off. It eyed the rowlett and mime curiously. “You two are giving off human vibes…” it growled.

Geodude looked back at the carbink and chuckled once more. “Yeah, I told you this thing was a human, duh,” he replied.

“No you fool! They’re human tamed pokemon!” carbink hissed. “Humans don’t belong here!”

Glaring at the mime and owl, geodude scoffed. “Bruh! You’ve offended m’lady. Now I’m gonna have to show you what I’m made of!” he said flexing one more. The geodude slammed his fists into the ground in front of him, cracking the earth trying to intimidate the two tamed pokemon. He lunged forward using his fists to launch himself toward the rowlett, tackling it.

Carbink couldn’t stand the idea of working with the geodude but it really didn’t want to deal with these human tamed alone. If geodude was going to help then so be it but it wasn’t going to look out for him. The fairy picked up some of the rocks that had been lying around and spat one at the Sugar.

Supressing Threats
The strange pokemon moved forward to interact with the pokemon, and was chatting with them soon enough. It seemed the tone of the conversation was pleasant enough, at least as far as she could tell. Not being able to understand their strange noises that somehow allowed them to communicate with other pokemon was certainly a hindrance, but not something she could fix at the moment. So she turned to tones and expressions to read a situation. The Mr.Mime seemed to have gotten something though, as it continued a bit further into the tunnel.

And the women continued their hushed conversation as they awaited the result of this act of diplomacy. She was surprised to hear that Cecelia had only been partnered with the pokemon for a few months. Though her explanation on the subject was satisfactory in creating a bit more understanding on it. She had learned that psychic type pokemon tended to be highly intelligent, so this creature being one and being more tuned to the human language in a shorter amount of time made some sense. She was more curious about this pokemon's dual powers, but would save that for later.

The other piece of that to note was her used of 'arrived'. It would follow that she was likely an immigrant, which was positive for Gem. After all, if she hadn't been in Forest Beach very long, then it stood that she wouldn't be able to invalidate her story about originally being from Forest Beach herself, since she would have left before she had appeared in Terrene. That was positive, and meant she wouldn't need to be too careful if asked about her history. Either way, it didn't appear the conversatin was going that way, so nothing to worry on for the moment.

At the mention of the purple creature, her gaze drifted over to the scorpion-like pokemon. It seemed rather impatient, ready to move on and continuing exploring. Or perhaps to fight. It was hard to tell which, especially with the ever-dimming light as they proceeded into the tunnel. The woman mentioned that she sometimes used hand gestures in commanding her pokemon. "Yes, that's a good strategy. They would be more likely to understand a motion they can see over a word they cannot comprehend." Of course, such a method came with the risk of misinterpretation, but given the lack of alternatives, it seemed a good method to test.

The small owl was sent off to check on the other pokemon, of which they couldn't see very well anymore, since it progressed a bit further into the tunnel. At the gesture, Arshia took a couple quiet steps forward, the paras right next to her as she did so. She was intrigued by what could be happening, so she stopped talking for the moment and turned her left ear towards the group. She waited a moment, listening carefully and hearing what didn't sound like great sounds from where the Mr. Mime had headed off to.

The upset hiss was the last piece she needed to know that it was best to get closer. She straightened out, no longer worried about keeping unseen, and moved towards the pokemon, pokeball in hand and Lancet at her feet. She did not motion or wait on Cecelia - she was confident the woman would come of her own accord, if her pokemon were in danger. She didn't seem the sort to abandon her pokemon. Just the opposite, she seemed kind and ready to run to them if they needed her. Though to what degree was still unclear.

The fight broke loose, a rock being chucked at the Mr. Mime. Whether it hit or not, it would clamor to the floor, the noises echoing in the small space. "Lancet, stun spore on that one." She pointed in the direction of the carbink, as the geodude had launched its body at the owl. Her finger moved to activate the ball, the red light illuminating the tunnel for a moment and forming into the crescent shaped pokemon, floating in mid-air and trying to take in the situation. This was certainly a new place.

"Caliper, moonblast on the rock." Her words were unspecific, but her pointing moved to the geodude, which was all the pokemon needed. "Oh, are you going to provide a challenge? Can you prove yourself as a worthy opponent? Let's find out!" Their voice was excited as they readied themselves, channeling their energy into the strong attack. The beam of intense light provided a clear view of the tunnel once more, the sheer force crashing towards the geodude to try to start this battle the right way. Oh how they hoped it would make this a fun match! They loved a good fight.

Cecilia's feeling of dread was soon justified by sounds of combat coming from the direction that Sugar and Sweet Pea had headed. A cold feeling of terror went through her body as she feared the worst for her pokemon. Perhaps she'd been too reckless, but there was no time to take back her actions now. Now all she could do was enter the fray herself. She took off at a run, moving ahead of Gem as the woman released her own pokemon. Cecilia began to prepare her bow as she ran, but put it away again as she cursed the darkness. It was too hard to see, quarters were too tight and there were too many pokemon involved. She wasn't confident that she wouldn't hit her own or Gem's.

There was, however, one light in this darkness. Cecilia could see the glowing of the pokemon's eyes and the blinding glare of the bright powder around Sweet Pea's neck. The bright powder made it difficult to look directly at Sweet Pea, which was intended but it also created enough light for even human eyes to see that the attacking pokemon appeared to be two rock types. "Sugar, magical leaf! Sweet Pea, use leafage! Both of you, focus on that one!" Cecilia shouted, pointing to carbink. It was the one spitting rocks, so Cecilia deemed it to be the more significant threat. She wanted that threat to be dealt with immediately. "Then defense on the other one," Cecilia moved her finger to point at geodude. "Sweet Pea use growl! Sugar, use hypnosis!"

A chitter from Grape brought Cecilia's attention to the gligar at her feet. He'd kept pace with her and now he was watching the wobbly bear and its tiny pink friend. There was no way that those pokemon couldn't see her and Gem now, and she couldn't risk them joining on the side with the rocks. "Wait," Cecilia commanded Grape, holding her hand up flat. She spoke more softly to him since he was nearer, and he was listening intently. "Watch them." She gestured to her eyes and then to the two noncombatant pokemon.

There was enough pokemon already fighting the rocks. Sending Grape into battle probably wouldn't help. The pokemon would just end up getting in each other's way at that point. Besides, he was content enough as long as he had a job to do. He gave the spinda and the cleffa a not-entirely-friendly smile, showing his fangs. "Don't run, and don't fight. All you need to do is stay still and quiet, and you won't get hurt." Grape told them as his barbed tail swung back and forth behind him.

In the heat of combat, Sweet Pea and Sugar were both injured. Poor Sweet Pea hadn't even done anything except fly over for a quick look, and she'd suddenly been tackled by an angry rock monster. "Ow! What was that even for?" Sweet Pea chirped after the geodude's heavy body slammed into her and knocked her to the ground. She righted herself and flapped her wings frantically to get back into the air.

Meanwhile, Sugar suffered a direct hit from the carbink's rock throw. She gave a cry as it struck her chest. First she gave the two rocks a hurt expression, not just for their actions but for their cruel words. However, Sugar was not a being of infinite patience. This was the limit to the amount of foolishness she would tolerate and she was more than happy to obey the orders Cecilia shouted to her. "Come on, Sweet Pea! These pokemon are mean!" Sugar shouted to her ally as she extended her large hands to either side of her body. She focused her power until it formed spinning green leaves of pure energy. Then she thrust her arms towards Carbink and sent to magical leaves flying at the genderless rock.

No sooner was that done than she turned to face the geodude that had tackled her friend. She put her hands up beside her face with fingers spread, puffing out her cheeks in concentration. She was summoning her psychic energy again, but not to do harm. This time she sent out soothing energy towards Geodude in the hopes that her hypnosis would put it to sleep.

Sweet Pea flew up high and then swooped down, releasing leaves from her wings down onto the carbink. She was honestly a bit afraid of rocks, and she wished Grape was flying with her. However, at least she had Sugar so she wasn't fighting all alone. She angled her wings to pull her up before she got too close to the carbink and headed instead towards Geodude. She tried to summon all the ferocity from the depths of her soul and focus into a hoot that would chill the bones. What came out though, was an adorable little "coocoo" sound that was more likely to warm those bones until one lost the will to fight.

Geodude and Carbink thought they had the advantage in this battle. The strong armed rock typed didn’t fear a tiny bird. He’d crush it using his entire body as a weapon. Carbink preferred not to get close range so she tried to stay back and attack from a distance. It had confidence in its strength and couldn’t imagine the two opponents having any attacks that could majorly harm it.

What they didn’t account for were the humans who showed up with their pokemon at their sides. A strange tiny bug with pincers and another was a bat-like scorpion. One creature had mushrooms growing out of its back and the other had claws and sharp teeth with a sharp tail. Whatever they were, they came to attack and they figured that these humans were the ones who owned all these strange pokemon. One human pointed forward at them and it appeared to be giving a command.

Immediately after the mushroom bug had released a strange powder that puffed toward the carbink. “What are you even trying to do?” it asked as the spores covered their body. They felt a strange tingling feeling but the powder failed to take effect. Before it could retaliate, they were shocked by the entrance of a new opponent. The human had summoned a crescent shaped rock that floated before her.

It was beautiful to the geodude and he just had to let it know. “What’s a pretty rock like yourself doing in a dark tunnel like this?” he spoke, smoothly. Carbink narrowed their eyes at the geodude. They weren’t jealous or interested in the geodude at all but it just had a really annoying personality.

Carbink just wanted the human and her tamed pokemon to leave so they would do what they could to wipe them out. Before she could do anything, however, the round bird had fired off sharp leaf like feathers at the carbink. They cut into the rock-fairy, despite its solid body. It hurt but it wasn’t enough to take them down.

The geodude didn’t like that his ‘lady’ was being attacked by the tiny bird but he was impressed that they were able to take the hit so well. He prepared to strike the bird once more but blast of pink energy shot right into him. He rolled back, dazed by what had just happened. Where did the attack come from. He looked up to see the beautiful moon pokemon before him. The geodude couldn’t believe that they would do this to him.

“Why must women keep hurting me?” he whined. The rock with large arms was in too much pain to retaliate. Though he tried to get himself up he couldn’t defend himself against the attack that followed. From the mime, colorful energy shaped leaves fired away at him. The rock was taken out from the amount of damage that was taken all together. His body lied there before the carbink reaching a hand up. “I’m sorry, I failed you, my precious fairy,”

The carbink rolled their eyes once more, not really feeling affected by the defeat of the geodude. Though now, they’d have to fight all on their own. The rabbit-eared rock type, hoped they could survive. Geodude was finally down for the count when the hypnosis from the mime reached him. Falling asleep was probably best for everyone. Not knowing who to fight at this point, the carbink realized it was outnumbered. It was probably best for them to flee, though if they did, it could be pursued.

“Alright, just let me go!” the carbink cried out.

Coax
The lunatone ignored the compliment and question, only interested in the battle between them. The blast of fairy power shot off towards the geodude, gleaming light amongst a dark tunnel, and hit its target. The Mr. Mime followed up with her own attack, and the geodude was down on the ground. He was struggling to even lift his hand it seemed. The comment on women hurting him was credited to the female Mr. Mime nearby. "Well, it seems you are not a worthy opponent after all. Shame." The rock started to move, as if gearing up for another attack. However, their trainer was quick to call out. "Caliper, stand down."

The pokemon halted, turning to look at the human. "For what purpose must I stand down? This is a battle, no? Though I suppose I wasn't eliminated when we fought." They turned back to the geodude, who seemed to be faltering in consciousness. "It seems you are to be spared mercy today. Perhaps use the opportunity to get stronger. At least, that's what I would advise. Being taken down so quickly is quite embarrasing after all." They weren't exactly please the fellow psychic type had interrupted their battle, but they chose to focus on the carbink's plea. "You surrender? Smart. I suppose I don't want to battle something that so easily backs down before I've even struck it. Perhaps intimidation from my assault on the geodude? Either way, I won't stop you."

Arshia was glad to see Caliper listening. Their loyalty to her was still young and low, so she wouldn't have been surprised had it chosen to ignore her command. It was something she was working on, and needed to build up. But, loyalty takes time, and she was willing to be patient with it. She'd earned their respect in order to join her, so surely she could build up their loyalty to her. She focused instead on the other enemy, who seemed to be backing down. For a few more moments, she would stand at attention, waiting to see if the pokemon would strike again.

Once it was clear the rock creature was not intending to fight any further, and its ally was in no condition to continue fighting, her muscles relaxed, a sly smile growing in her expression. She half-turned her head towards Cecelia. "It seems our pokemon were the more experienced party. I'm glad we were able to end this so efficiently." Cecelia had been quick to act, and that was a positive. She was glad to see her partner for this excavation was capable and not afraid to hurt pokemon.

And with that taken care of, she could turn her attention to the others. The paras seemed interested in them, while the lunatone looked around the tunnel, as if studying it. The little bear cub and other creature were still piquing her interest, the latter much more than the stumbling pokemon. She slid one arm out of her backpack strap, so the pack could shift on her arm. Opening the top of the bag, she dug throug for a moment, pulling out the cream and red colored berry. A peace offering, to make sure the duo understood they didn't have ill intentions. She closed the bag and realigned it on her back, and strapped to both arms.

She slowly, carefully approached the two pokemon, keeping low and sitting on her heels once she was just about within arms length of them. Paras followed closely behind, though didn't stop when she did. Instead, he continued skittering closer to the spinda and cleffa. "Oh hi. Do you guys live here? It's nice. I used to live in a cave once. Now I don't." He curiously looked at them both, but seemed a little more interested in the stumbling of the bear. "Is it fun to do tha-" The paras stopped mid-sentence, turned, and started to skitter in another direction. It was sudden and unprompted, but Arshia was used to such behavior.

Gem didn't blink an eye as Lancet wandered off, knowing that he would be back soon enough. These spells tended not to last very long, and the pokemon was extremely loyal to her. She was confident it would not simply leave her. So she focused instead on these two pokemon, whom Caliper seemed to basically ignore for the moment. Either they didn't think the two were worthy of a fight, or they were too focused on something else. Either way, it was beneficial that the pokemon wasn't trying to start another fight right now.

Carefully, she split the berry into two almost equal pieces. It wasn't perfect, but without a knife it couldn't have been perfect. She gently handed a piece to each pokemon, handing the slightly bigger piece to the Cleffa. "Though you likely can't understand my words, I wanted to extend my apologies if we spooked you. We don't intend to harm you so long as you don't want to harm us." She kept her voice low and calm, hoping her tone would soothe the pokemon who seemed to just want to go about their business. If they accepted her offering, she would stand and take a step back. She didn't want to spook the creature. No, to ensure she could coax it into allowing her to take it out of this place with her for study, she needed to be patient and careful.

For the moment, the woman turned her attention back to Cecelia. "I don't suppose your psychic is experienced enough to convey what happened, is it? It ended well, though I am curious as to where these two came from and why they were hostile. Your pokemon seemed to be friendly, after all." She watched and waited. Her tone was not unkind, as her inquisitive nature sought the theories that Cece had on the situation. She knew her pokemon best, after all, and may be able to come up with a more specific theory than herself, seeing as how she was not familiar with the pokemon who'd been sent in for diplomacy - her strategies, her mannerisms, nothing. Whether she knew or not, she was curious what suggestions she had - and to the current capabilities of this psychic type's power.

Sugar and Sweet Pea weren't bloodthirsty pokemon, and they had no desire to kill a foe that had surrendered. That didn't mean they still weren't a bit angry. "We wouldn't have had to fight at all if you could've just moved aside like I asked!" Sugar yelled, clenching her fists angrily. Behind her, Sweet Pea flapped her wings over the geodude, assessing his condition. He was hurt badly, but he might recover with rest. He'd probably be unconscious long enough for everyone to pass by safely at least. Sugar listened to what the crescent shaped rock said and crossed her own arms, puffing her cheeks in annoyance. "I won't stop you either. Move along then so that my friends and I can pass through here." Sugar grumbled. She waved back at Cecilia to show that everything was all right.

Cecilia had been watching apprehensively, unsure if the battle was over or not. Gem had already ordered her pokemon to stop, but Cecilia waited for this signal from Sugar before she nodded and waved back, motioning for Sugar and Sweet Pea to return to her. Sugar walked until she stood before her trainer, and Sweet Pea landed on Cecilia's shoulder. When they came close, Cecilia dug in her pockets and pulled out a few small bits of dried berries and offered them to each pokemon as treats.

"Good girls. Are you hurt?" While they enjoyed their treat, Cecilia inspected them for damage. Sweet Pea had an abrasion and some bruising on her front where the geodude had struck her. Droplets of red blood marred her cream colored feathers, but it didn't seem too severe. She wasn't holding her wings in any way that indicated they might be broken. Sugar's injury was even less noticeable, but Cecilia could tell that Sugar seemed to be favoring one arm and trying not to strain the shoulder that had been hit by the rock throw. Cecilia estimated that they might be good for another battle if necessary, but it might be best avoided if possible. She did have medicine in case of an emergency, but the best tactic was to try and prevent damage all together.

"Sugar, what happened?" Cecilia asked her mr. mime softly upon hearing Gem's question. "What went wrong?" Sugar seemed to understand the question, and she pointed at the sleeping geodude and pointed to the injuries on herself and Sweet Pea.

"Yes, I know they attacked you, but why did they do it?"

Sugar frowned at this question and folded her arms angrily as if offended. She tried to use her telepathy with Cecilia to help explain but putting thoughts into the human's head was much more difficult than sensing what Cecilia was thinking. Cecilia closed her eyes and opened herself to the still unfamiliar feeling of Sugar trying to communicate telepathically. She could feel the vague emotion of Sugar's hurt and anger, and she could see a fuzzy image of a human child. Through it all, just one word came through. Mean!

"Ugh," Cecilia opened her eyes and looked at Gem. "No, sorry. She's not giving me anything that makes much sense."

Grape whined when he saw Sugar and Sweet Pea getting treats. Even the wild cleffa and spinda were getting treats. Where was his? He went up to Cecilia and chittered at her, extending his claws up to her pleadingly as he gazed at her with sad eyes. However, Cecilia only rubbed him between the ears. "You did good too, Grape. Sit tight for now. We might need you if there's another battle. You'll get a treat later."

Grape couldn't understand all of Cecilia's words but he'd never heard the word "later" used in an answer that he'd wanted to hear. He crossed his claws and growled, looking grumpy. He'd wait. He had enough experience with Cecilia by now to know that she'd never leave him to go hungry. She was probably just favoring the girls because they were so much weaker than he was. His trainer knew that he could be relied on without the need for excessive praise or bribes. At least, that's what he told himself to try and dampen his jealousy.

Sugar then wandered over to where Gem was offering the two wild pokemon food. "This human likes you two," Sugar told the Spinda and Cleffa pair. "She talks a little funny though. Basically I think she's saying that we don't want to hurt you and we want to be your friends!" Sugar tried to help translate for Gem. "Don't forget that you said you'd show us where you've seen those red streaks on the walls." Sugar hadn't forgotten their deal, and she watched the two pokemon expectantly.
