ALFONSE "SUN" WALKER
26 - MALE - BISEXUAL
AppearanceAlfonse definitely doesn't have the metal arm and leg of the playby, strictly speaking for OOC purposes.
With long golden blonde hair and bright golden-brown (almost hazel) eyes, it's no wonder that Alfonse kind of freaked out as a kid. Despite his parents having dark hair and blue eyes, Alfonse gets his looks from his great-granddad on his mother's side in the Suffering Universe. It goes down to his mid-back, mostly because that he's fascinated with the color and that he actually likes his hair long.
Rather short at 5'0" (150 cm), Alfonse doesn't totally mind his short height unless someone intentionally mocks him about it due to how old he is. He isn't particularly well-built due to his shoddy childhood, but he does have some muscle on him from swinging around on trees and engaging in fights with other people his age. Not to mention his 'training' that he gives himself.
In spite of being raised as a child in a well-established family in Ashfield City, Alfonse generally prefers simple clothing and darker colors. He says it hides the dirt, but he honestly does like dark colors. He also makes his own clothes, no matter how shoddy his current sewing skill is. He's skilled enough that he can do it, but he stabs himself with the needle on accident almost constantly and is sort of only proficient in shoddy single-stitching.
His preferred clothing are articles that are easy to move around in. That's the explorer speaking inside of him. Alfonse walks around with no shoes on, mostly due to the fact that he has no shoes and that he proclaims to like the feeling of the dirt between his toes.
Playby: Edward Elric Fullmetal Alchemist
PersonalityStrong-willed and stubborn, Alfonse is the kind of person to make things difficult for people to like him and the decisions he makes. He's amoral in the sense that he doesn't see anything wrong with killing, whether it's Pokemon for food or it's a person who got in his way. Alfonse has a perpetual sense of amusement, curiosity, and confusion to what's going on currently. He certainly doesn't know how to navigate the politics of it, but he generally has an idea of what's going on.
Alfonse is also very sneaky and has a tongue of silver. The golden haired man can come off as incredibly naive and sometimes charming, but he knows how to lie in order to get his way. His cynic side is particularly pessimistic, even though he can sometimes come off as hesitantly optimistic. Alfonse can be incredibly blunt and daft, without an ounce of tact in his system. He doesn't understand that some people would prefer a sugar-coating of the truth, or be comforted in the sense that 'everything will be okay' when it clearly isn't going to be alright.
A loner at heart, Alfonse would prefer to be constantly traveling instead of settling down. Being raised shoddily by his always-gone parents is partly to blame for this, but even as a child he liked to be by himself and carve crappy figurines of wood. One of his favorite past-times was to lay back and stare at the sky. Wonder what was out there. He has a passion for adventure and exploration, and often forgets that he prefers to sit on the sidelines when presented with an opportunity to explain his theories and rants.
When he wants to be, Alfonse is talkative. However, he's not the person to open up and spill his life story in a few minutes. He's incredibly closed-off and is more of the type to chat about nonsense or the going-ons of the current lives in the village. His current 'home' is very simplistic in shape. Alfonse isn't materialistic, so he lives a very simple but rewarding life.
Alfonse also has a lot of insecurities left over from his parents shooing him away most of the time as a child. He received a lot of "That's nice, go play," and "Please be quiet; we're very tired and sore, so we would appreciate if you went outside." It led him to thinking that there was no way someone could love him. Despite his pessimism, strong will, stubbornness, sneakiness, and lies, Alfonse has many masks to cover his soft heart. He adores Pokemon, often wishing as a child that his parents would help him get one.
HistoryBorn to an older, well-established family in Ashfield City, Alfonse was certainly a surprise to his parents. A night of drunken debauchery between his father and mother drew the couple together. At first, his mother Jasmine hated Alfonse's father Edward. Edward was arrogant, cocky, and one of the biggest flirts in Ashfield. Upon learning that Jasmine was pregnant with his child, he sobered up and started his attempt to woo the pretty young woman with the strange hazel/golden brown eyes. (Admittedly, her shock of being pregnant was learned when she woke up one morning with a strange bump on her abdomen).
The two ultimately bonded over their lack of memories and that they had been found in the Portal outside of Ashfield around roughly the same time. That they were eighteen at the time. They were taken in by a couple of the eldest families until they were able to build their own homes. Jasmine and Edward knew each other since they were small in the Suffering Universe, but despite the faint tingle of familiarity, they hated each other until Jasmine herself got pregnant.
One of the biggest problems in Alfonse's childhood was his shock of golden-blonde hair and his mother's hazel-ish eyes. It was like he was a child born from the sun. This earned him his first nickname, although the knowledge that his parents weren't around much was old news. He was withdrawn as a child, often drawing in the dirt with a stick or attempting to carve a shoddy wooden block. A favorite past-time was to find shapes in clouds and observe the environment around him.
Alfonse swiftly learned that his parents didn't care what he did, because they were busy helping the elder community build their homes and trying to map out the area with regular patrols. With them often gone, his prominent features got him in trouble a lot due to easily being recognized. Alfonse was a charming kid, dimpling up at the shopkeeper's stalls in an expression of innocence to free him with whatever guilt they were layering him with at the time.
Was is so surprising that he learned to steal and pickpocket at age seven? To some people, yes. However, the people knew that the golden-haired brat had a tongue of silver and a very bright, quick mind. Despite him managing to get off the hook several times, not many people liked him and his strange humor. Many didn't realize that he was trying to get his parents attention in these acts of rebellion. Yes, they gave him a roof over his head, clothes, food, and whatever he wanted, but they didn't realize that he wanted them to sit down with him and just talk. The thing he wanted most of all was his parents to be around.
It was too bad that they didn't realize what was going on until he turned fifteen. Throughout his childhood, preteen years, and teenage years, Alfonse tried his best to get his parents attention. He lapped up any they did give him like an eager Lillipup, toning down his behavior just for them when they asked him to "Please be quiet, we're very tired and sore." Alfonse became very cynical and pessimistic, hiding his insecurities behind a mask of mischief or quiet contemplation.
Bitterness and loneliness seeped into his heart, and eventually he stopped approaching them by the time he turned eighteen. He desired to travel, so one night, he took the chance to pack his belongings and venture into the forest. He settled not far from the city, despite his shoddy childhood and lack of attention from his parents. Alfonse had no desire to leave what few friends he did have, so he merely set up his own establishment. Throughout the next few years saw Alfonse slowly relaxing and eventually learning to love his solitary life.
He had to admit that seeing his parents freak-out over his disappearance for a week sent a warm flush through his chest. Maybe they actually missed him? However, seeing Alfonse safe and not actually running away caused them to distance themselves once more. Alfonse swore to himself then and there that if he ever had a child or Pokemon, he would not treat them the way his parents treated him. They would get the love and attention they deserved, and not be ignored for something they can't control.
He threw himself into building his own settlement outside of Ashfield, his careful training and carrying stacks of wood eventually paying off in the end. Right before his 26th leaf-turn (the time-period when he was born), he finished his home. His parents sent him useful stuff, but their attempt to sneak into his life now was so very irritating. He didn't like that they had suddenly realized that what they did was wrong.
Alfonse isn't so sure he can forgive them, now. There's one thing for sure: he'll never forget.
