A loud boom of thunder made Balto cringe, he had his hood up as the rain came down on him. Dixie was huddled behind his head in the hood as well, she poked her head out and looked at the sky. Dark. It was suppose to be day right now but with all this rain and storm clouds, it looked like night. Balto shuddered as the rain was quickly assualting his arcanine pelt coat. He held it closed as he walked, the wet ground squishing under his boots.
"It all looks the same..." Balto muttered, looking around. "I don't know the way back..."
Dixie looked out his hood but kept her head in the hood to try and stay dry. As much as she would hate to say it, she was in the same pickle. The darkness and rain was making things hard to see. The wet muddy ground made tracks disappear with ease, and now....now all the trees looked the same. She gave a sigh as she patted his head, though noticed a rouge leaf in the inside of the hood. Quickly she plucked it out and threw it away.
The loud boom made a chill go up his spine and Balto picked up his space, just wanting to find some form of shelter. As he walked, the ground had suffered too much water damage and it destabilized under his boot. A cry left the boy as he slid down the hill, tumbling to the ground, and landing with a hard thud; barely avoiding a decent sized rock that rested just inches from his head. Although pain went through his body from how he landed and he made a sound in pain as he pushed himself up. Mud all over his clothes now.
Dixie nearly fainted at this but what was more important? Cleaning or staying dry herself? The grey rodent made a sound in her debate, and while she was curious if he was okay, she didn't want to show it. Sitting on his knees, the hood slid slightly, showing his face but it still covered Dixie. Doing his best to look around with only one working eye, Balto knew that all he was doing was getting lost.

With the moon high up, Skids walked through the moonlite streets. Shiranui was sort of leading the way, quickly rushing off to get to a better spot but would wait for the older male. Skids gave a smile and quickened his pace a bit more. Shiranui responded merely with a wag of their tail and rushing ahead once more; at least they were keeping an eye on how far ahead they got and would wait. Skids could remember when they didn't do that though he knew that he'd have to get him to warm up more to Powder Sugar.
For now though, he didn't remove the other pokemon from their ball. They were probably sleeping or comfortable at least. Coming to a area with a broken wall, Shiranui jumped up and looked at the large moon high up in the sky. Taking a deep breathe, Shiranui let out a howl. He hadn't done that in a while and Skids saw no reason to stop em. They were away from the houses a nice bit, so they shouldn't be able to bother people. Arriving at the same wall, Skids smiled before he pulled himself up onto it; with a small struggle.
"Lovely night huh?" Skids asked, Shiranui gave a nod."Yes!"
Shiranui barked, tail wagging.
Skids gave a smile before glancing up at the moon, it was a lovely sight. How the moonlight helped to keep things bright here. Bright enough for him to see a good bit ahead. Knowing though that Shiranui would probably tire of just sitting here, he gave a smile before he took a deep breathe.
"Aaaroooo!" Skids howled, mimicking Shiranui to see if it would amuse them.
Shiranui was surprised but instead of amusement, glee went through em. It was like a pack! Skids howl sounded nice enough and the pup quickly joined in. Something with good hearing would hear this super well while a normal person would pick up on it too.@Sev

Skids is a kind old man, one who is rather fun loving. Currently he's in Ashfield but he plans to start making preparations to head out toward Crater City. This man is always willing to lend a hand.
This guy is his starter, Shiranui has his pup like tendancies still though he is coming around slowly. While not a fan of Powder Sugar, he is making a effort. Shiranui can be headstrong and stubborn, he's also easily angered to boot. The pup certainly has a lot of fire and they are coming to like Skids. The poochyena had gotten separated form his pack and ran into Skids
Powder Sugar- Sandygast
the second pokemon to be on his team, Skids befriended this strange pokemon in Ashfield on a rainy day. He even took a bite from Shiranui's fire fang during the incident. She's a nervous creature as she is younger than shiranui, often struggling to understand things. However she is in good hands at least.
Skids is open for anything, friends, foes, romance. You name it, I'm sure we can think of something. Skids' personality might annoy some people or people might think he can't due much due to age.

Balto had arrived within the town not that long ago, a few hours perhaps. The boy couldn't find a trace of his mother, no one knew her or had seen her. Much to his dismay, he wondered if she really had come this way. If she was even going to be found by him. She had gotten so sad when his father passed away and the death of their arcanine hadn't helped. Was he a bad son after all? He couldn't make her happy and she left him. He couldn't help her.
Sad thoughts were interrupted by the sensation of something on his shoulder, picking at the Arcanine pelt for any dirt. Dixie sat there, brushing through the strands of orange fur of the pelt. She pulled out a twig and gave a disquisted look at it before throwing it away. With nothing else in that spot, she smoothed the fur down on that spot and continued with her cleaning. Her tail raising and brushing that spot for a few moments before she altered her position to start work on a new spot.
How was this human so messy? It was like he was charging blindly around! While she had wanted to see more of this place, she figured that would have to wait. He was a mess, much like how she had seen youngsters in the car of a mother, the mother tasked with constantly cleaning their young to prevent em from getting hurt. THough she wasn't really sure on her doing the latter of that, making sure he didn't get hurt. The boy was certainly unique compared to the other humans here in looks alone, she would give him that.
Though the lad had found themselves arriving at the beach, the waves lapping against the shore. Quite a few people were already here though he started to take notice of a lot of...small things on the beach.
"What...are you?" Balto asked confused as he bent down, looking at the 'thing'.

They couldn't just head out yet, they needed to prepare and be stronger. So here he was, with Powder Sugar out of her ball and falling after him. She stared up at him, not sure why Shiranui was still in their pokeball. The forest lacked the nice sand she needed to make herself stronger, though she was curious on where the old human was leading her. Currently they were on the path and while she didn't see anything wrong with it, she was more curious on what was in the forest around them.
The sun was up and it was bright. It was a nice place to look at but she liked her beaches; maybe she should just go find a river? Her attention was pulled as she noticed Skids walking off the path without her even trying to get him to. She paused and stared at him, white dots turning to thin stripes as she blinked. Though she did her best to keep with him. Getting into the shade off the road, Skids paused and looked to her, giving a smile.
"Alright my dear, time to see if we can get better. I know you got some great skills and I'm sad to say but I do need to get you and Shiranui stronger. I don't like the thought all that much but if we leave this town, we'll all need to be strong." Skids told her in a kind voice as he bent down.
[Leaving this town? Oh they were going to be going on a journey soon? Hopefully I don't have to follow like this the whole time] Powder Sugar pondered as she sat there, though she slowly tried to descend from her spot.
Only to be met by Skids holding his arms out to her to try and pick her up. It certainly felt odd, like he was holding a bag of sand but without the sand. He did his best to keep a hold of her and to not let any of her sand fall to the ground. Powder Sugar was uneasy with this, she gave concerned looks around before using her stubby arms to hold onto Skids' arm. When he felt like he had a good grip on her, he started down the small hill and started to look around.
