fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Vex finally had his first pokemon. Though it was most certainly not what he'd expected to end up with when he'd imagined what his first partner would be, he was quite pleased with how things had turned out. After meeting a pair of Emolga in the early spring, Vex had decided he wanted to befriend one of them. It hadn't turned out like he'd planned, Vex hadn't been able to return to their nest to try and get them used to his presence and show that he wasn't a bad human. Instead, one of the Emolga had come to find him. He still didn't know what happened to the other one but since there was never any sign of it any time they went back to the nest and his Emolga had a small, though healed, injury to his ear, Vex could only guess that something had happened and that the other Emolga had died. If it was still alive, it no longer lived in the tree where he'd first met the pair and he was unlikely to see it again.

However, having a prey animal as a hunting partner was not exactly the most ideal situation. A prey animal was, by its very nature, not a hunter. Though the Emolga did catch and eat bugs, it did not hunt or eat Deerling. Vex was trying to teach it how to help him hunt birds and it seemed to understand that he wanted it to attack them but it simply didn't have the hunter's tenacity that something like a Growlithe or Delcatty might have. It lacked tracking abilities and was just as likely to scare off any birds than it was to successfully bring them down. Still, he would work on continuing to train the Emolga until they learned to work together as a team.

Today's hunting trip was going to serve two purposes. One was to work on the Emolga's stealth and fighting, the other was to see what other sorts of pokemon they might encounter and for Vex to, possibly, get a second pokemon that could help him hunt things like Deerling and Stantler instead of just Pidgey and Taillow. Armed with his knife, some supplies to get him through the day and accompanied by the Emolga, Vex set out into the forest to see what he could find.

In an attempt to teach the Emolga what he wanted, Vex made sure to move quickly but quietly, not dashing about and making noise. The Emolga had only recently begun to mimic him, moving along the ground and being careful about his movements or gliding soundlessly through the air above Vex's head. When he was moving in the trees, however, was when they had issues. The Emolga would scamper and glide from branch to branch, scattering leaves and bark and generally causing enough noise that other pokemon would hear them coming and hide before they get close. This time the Emolga was carefully perched on Vex's shoulder, draped in just the right way that he could ride without being in the way. "Okay, stay put for now, Donut." Vex instructed. The Emolga had easily picked up a handful of commands like 'stay' and 'come here' and it knew that the human wished for it to remain where it was. So it clung on a little tighter and kept a careful watch on their surroundings, giving a little squeak to alert Vex when it saw something.

"Bwaaaahhhp!"

The blue creature released the sound, as loud as it could handle. Which, to the small critter's credit, was pretty decently loud. Small, rounded feet plodded across the dirt, carrying it forward as a rounded mouth exaggerated the motion needed to make the sound, opening wide to release the noise. The two gills sticking out of either side of its head were still as they rejected the air, though it was of no issue for the pokemon to be out of water for a short time. Soon enough though, the water type would need to return to water.

"BWAAAAHHHHHP!" For now, however, she was content to continue with her fun. Despite the danger that it could incite, the wooper continued, trodding through the bushes and down the trail as she explored and called out to no one in particular. She stepped out of a paricularly thick bush and stumbled, falling on her head and rolling through the motion awkwardly. The pokemon turned and looked around, taking in everything that was now around her. She enjoyed seeing new things.

And she found something quite peculiar. A tall, fleshy thing that was wearing some weird material was standing there, all big and menacing. Well, in comparison to the half-foot tall creature that was looking up at him. In addition, there was a squirrel with him, the more nimble type with the flaps of skin used for gliding. They tended to zap when they were upset, but she didn't mind the zaps. In fact, despite always being covered in water, she hardly noticed the electricity. It felt more like a tickling sensation than anything that could be used to threaten or hurt other. She didn't understand how anyone could fear that, but maybe it was supposed to just be cute.

Now it was time to perform once again, and she wondered if the human would touch her. She liked it when things touched her, because they always got this funny look on their faces and tended to sign out loud in response to it. She wasn't sure why that was, but she certainly enjoyed it. Hopping on her feet once more, she walked closer to the two and sucked in a deep breathe. She needed to make this one good, ignorant of the fact that the duo was trying not to drag attention to themselves. This was a time to have fun and be mischievious, as she so often was. So with her breathe drawn and herself prepared, her mouth opened wide as the sound bellowed as loud as she could muster.

There was some creature nearby making a lot of noise. From the cry, Vex couldn't immediately identify it, though it sounded familiar. "If it's not one thing it's another. Whatever that is, it's annoying." It was also heading their way if the nearness of the second cry was anything to go off of. Both Vex and Donut noticed the rustle in the bushes at the same time and Vex stopped in his tracks, ready to run or fight if it became necessary. As it turned out, he shouldn't have worried too much. The rustle grew louder and a blue pokemon tumbled into the open and rolled a short distance before coming to a stop. Now that it wasn't moving about, Vex recognized it as a Wooper. They were pretty common, though he'd never seen one up close before and he had certainly never seen one this far from water.

The Wooper's gaze landed on him and it hopped back to it's feet with surprising ease considering it had no hands to help it steady itself. Though he supposed he shouldn't be surprised. Wooper lived their entire lives without arms, at least up until they became Quagsire, so they didn't need arms the same way a human did. Of course, as soon as it was back on its feet it started moving toward him. Donut huffed softly in Vex's ear and Vex frowned at the blue pokemon. What did it want? It didn't seem hostile so he wasn't worried about being attacked but why was it willingly coming toward him? Most wild pokemon weren't interested in approaching a human.

It stopped not too far away from him, opened its mouth, and made the most obnoxious sound Vex had ever heard. It still didn't seem like it was going to attack them or anything and Vex certainly wasn't giving it any food. "Go away. I haven't got time for messing with you." Vex told it, frowning as he moved to step around the Wooper. He wasn't about to spend time trying to figure out what the creature wanted when he had hunting and training to be doing. Since Wooper weren't exactly great for eating (or much else if he was honest) he wasn't interested in having Donut try to battle it. It would be a waste of energy that would be better spent on something more productive. Like getting a couple Pidgey or Starly to take home for dinner or trying to teach Donut to help him hunt land prey like Deerling. Hopefully the Wooper would just leave him alone and not try to follow him, making it's weird cries and being irritating. If it did, Vex comforted himself with the thought that he could definitely outrun a Wooper, though he'd feel ridiculous running from something so non-threatening.

The human seemed less than enthused about her appearance, but she wasn't deterred. She was still having fun! Her voice was fun to her, and always so different out of water than in. So she enjoyed calling out when she took a stroll on the land. The human called out in a more hushed tone, speaking sounds that she didn't quite understand. Her head bobbed to the side as he started moving, trying to decipher what was going on. He stepped over her, and seemed to continue on. The electric-type didn't even seem to take any notice of her, or bother to react to her call in any way.

Well that was lame.

"BWAAHP BWAHP BWAHP BWAAAAHPP!" The wooper continued to call out and make her noise. She liked it a lot, and she hoped these two would appreciate it. The human was walking away though, as if he wasn't even giving it a chance! Well, this little pokemon wouldn't be deterred so easily. As Vexel started to walk away, the little pokemon with its tiny feet plodded quickly after him as she called out to no one in particular. She wanted attention. And naive as she was, she didn't seem to care who that attention was from - certainly a detriment to a hunter who was trying to find prey to stalk.

The boy wouldn't have much time to respond before the ambush was triggered. Luckily for him, it wasn't for big humans. It was for small prey such as the little wobbling wooper. A green flash shot out from a nearby bush, jetting at the wooper. It crashed into her, causing her to yelp as the pokemon regained posture, standing over his target. He didn't seem to pay any mind to Vex or Donut, but did seem to be looking around. He focused on the now shivering in fear pokemon, his mouth starting to open. He was ready for this feast, and had been waiting for something to come by for him to attack. Luckily, this pokemon wasn't able to attack him willingly.

However, the attempt at chomping at the water-type pokemon was interrupted by a strong, fierce bark from the other side of the path. In a swift leap, a brown pup leaped through the grass and towards the pair. The snake managed to pull away, albeit just barely. The pup bounded and landed on the dirt, quickly whipping around. A growling noise erupted from her throat as she stared down the snake, a darting glance at the human and squirrel. If they moved any closer, his head would turn to growl loudly at them, but it appeared his main focus was the snivy. Who was about a foot away from the body at this point, staring back at the rockruff as he prepared to fight.

The wooper wailed in distress, her legs flailing around as her whole body rocked in fear. She was wobbling a lot but it didn't seem like the pokemon was making any progress towards actually standing up. Though the two hunters were interested in eating the little prey, neither of them budged at the noises she made. They were focused on each other, and ready to fight over who would take this creature as a meal.

"Stop it. Go away you nuisance. Can't you see I'm trying to hunt?" Whether the Wooper didn't her him over it's incessant noise-making, it didn't care to listen or it simply didn't understand him Vex had no way of knowing. You know you're going to attract predators carrying on like that. Donut chattered at her from Vex's shoulder, equally as displeased by their very vocal and very unwanted companion. He was pretty sure he could take care of himself if it came down to escaping from something that wanted to eat him but did he dare leave the human boy? The human was pretty good a defending himself, but what if he couldn't get away? Donut knew the human boy was no replacement for his lost sibling but he didn't want to lose his new human companion so soon after deciding to join him either.

Vex was just beginning to consider breaking into a run to leave the irritating noise behind when something shot out of a bush and toward the little blue pokemon. Vex spun around, causing Donut to nearly lose his grip on his shirt, to see a green, snake-like pokemon apparently ready to eat the Wooper. Donut was oh so tempted to call out 'I told you so' to the wooper but he was equally as unwilling to draw a predator's attention. Especially not when a bark and a growl indicated the arrival of a second predator and a Rockruff burst onto the scene, trying to tackle the Snivy away from it's prey. As the Rockruff's gaze darted to him and Donut, Vex froze. He wasn't afraid, exactly, but he knew a predator would be very possessive of its kill. One wrong move and he'd have to fend off both the Snivy and the Rockruff. One he was pretty sure he and Donut could handle, both he was less confident of. Donut refused to even make a sound as the two predators faced off against each other. Like Vex, he knew the chances of evading both predators and living to tell the tale was slim. So why wasn't his human boy fleeing while the predators were distracted by that foolish Wooper?

Despite Donut's silent desire to get away from there as soon as possible, Vex's mind was working a mile a minute. This was what he'd been looking for when he'd found Donut; A predator and a hunting partner. And here were two of them standing only a few feet away from him. But what did he do about it? If he made a wrong move, both of them could attack him and he'd end up severely injured...or worse. But if he walked away now, he might not get another chance like this. So how to proceed without getting mauled or scaring one, or both, predators away? Could he...get them to work together? But how? It wasn't as though he could get near enough to do anything. Not when even a slight movement toward the group earned him a growl and a show of teeth from the Rockruff.

Suddenly, an idea came to him and he carefully reached into his bag and pulling out the last cookie he had in his pack. Donut's ears perked a little as he caught sight of the treat. "Watch." Vex pointed at the cookie and then at the Wooper several times. Then he snapped the cookie in half and pointed at the two predators with each hald. The Emolga blinked in confusion. Did....his human want to feed that to the Snivy and Rockruff? Would the predators even want the treat? Vex held the two pieces of the cookie together and pointed at the Wooper again and then held the two pieces apart, pointing at the Rockruff and Snivy. Did...the human mean that he wanted to treat the Wooper like that snack? To...to share it between the predators? Like when Vex shared the treats with him? It made no sense to Donut and he really, really didn't want to draw attention to himself. Frowning at Donut's apparent lack of understanding, Vex did the only other thing he could think of: he tossed the two pieces of cookie toward the two predators. If nothing else, it might distract them from trying to kill each other (or him) long enough for him to figure something else out. "Hey, why don't you work together? If you fight you'll just both end up hurt and your prey might escape. If you work together you both get to eat and you're less likely to end up dead." He told them, though he knew it was quite unlikely that they'd understand his words. If he could keep them focused on not fighting for a moment that was a good thing.

Even as the emolga quietly voiced the warning about predators, the wooper continued her noises. She didn't really know of, nor care about, predators. She wasn't exactly the brightest in the pond, and thus didn't really understand the dangers of the world as she should. As it was, she was having fun, and figured if others heard her, they might join in the fun! Though as it was, it was distastefully dry in the air, so she figured it was time to get back for a dip in the water soon. She didn't like feeling dry when she stayed out too long.

But the warnings would have best been followed as the attacks started as it was, the pokemon were fighting, and the boy's thoughts were likely what was best. His show with the cookie fell on dull eyes, neither of the predators having been around humans much nor having any clue what the strange thing in his hands was. The pup thought it looked and smelled delicious, but the snake was less than interested in that garbage humans made. She was only interested in the meat, the real food. Not makeshift snacks made by those despicable humans.

The rockruff was fully entranced however, leaving her stand-off with the snivy to gobble up both halves of the cookie before anyone else could get to them. If she was grateful to the human for it, she certainly didn't show it. The snake took the opportunity and tackled the wooper once more, trying to knock her to the ground. She just needed to get her tail around it and get off while the pup was distracted. But the wooper was not so willing to go down. While she did fall to the ground, she released a water gun attack on the hunter, causing her to falter and stumble back a few steps.

She needed to secure the win. Which meant focusing on the competitor and lulling the prey into a false sense of hope. The problem, of course, was that the human and rodent were unpredictable. She wasn't sure just what they would do. So long as they stayed away from the wooper though, she had no business with them. Her distraction was over, and she moved to attack the snivy. She dashed and jumped, bringing a paw up. As she landed on the snake, she brought her paw down first to crush her with as much power as she could manage.

Well, his plan had worked somewhat. The Rockruff had left the Snivy alone long enough to gobble up both halves of the cookie. The Snivy had attempted to finish off the wooper but the Wooper was beginning to fight back. Things were going downhill pretty quickly and Vex either needed to let things go, or get involved. If he wanted any hope of catching either predator, he needed to act now. As soon as the Rockruff had finished off the last of the cookie, it had gone back to attacking and the Snivy was looking a bit battered. He considered trying to catch it but he wasn't sure it was weak enough to simply be caught if it didn't want to be. But since the Rockruff had not taken any attacks, the Snivy would be his first target.

Vex would not send Donut too close to the predators, not when they could easily turn on the Emolga for their meal, so he'd need to keep his distance. As long as they stayed where they were, the Snivy and Rockruff didn't seem to pay much attention to them. "Donut thunder shock." Vex pointed at the Snivy as he spoke and the Emolga hesitated a second. He didn't want to fight the things that could eat him. They were leaving him alone and he knew now would be the perfect time to escape. But did he dare leave the boy? "Come on Donut, please." Vex spoke again, making a motion toward the trees around them. The trees would mean safety from the Rockruff at least. The Snivy could follow him but it did look like it was getting weak. Maybe this wasn't so bad an idea after all.

With his mind made up not to abandon the boy, Donut leaped from Vex's shoulder to the nearest tree, climbing up into the branches and then leaping across so that he was perched above the predators and their prey. He was tempted to speak to the Wooper, to scold her for her foolishness in attracting the Snivy and Rockruff and her misfortune of now becoming dinner for one, or both, of them. But that would alert the Snivy to his presence, if she hadn't noticed him already. Rather than focus on the Wooper, Donut gathered electricity and sent a jolt down toward the Snivy from above, careful to try and avoid hitting the Rockruff. If the canine thought Donut was on her side, she might leave him alone. So he did his best to keep his attack from shocking the pup.

While Donut had been making his way over to the Snivy, Vex had pulled a pokeball from his bag. As soon as Donut attacked, Vex threw the ball, aiming to hit the Snivy and, with luck, catch it. If he was successful, then he could focus on trying to figure out what to do about the Rockruff. He could attack it, but if it knew any rock type attacks that would be troublesome for Donut. And he knew he wouldn't be able to count on the Snivy being willing to help him out so soon after being captured. He'd have to be creative and try to convince the Rockruff to join him willingly. Either that, or he'd have to weaken it as best he could and catch it like he was trying to do with the Snivy. And, of course, there was that irritating Wooper to consider. He did not want to catch it but if it attacked the Rockruff the poor canine might be in trouble and Donut's attacks wouldn't do much against the water and ground type. He would just have to deal with that when it happened. Right then, he needed to focus on the Snivy and hope it stayed securely within the pokeball.

The emolga jumped into action, the human calling out some incomprehensible commands. They couldn't fathom what it was he was saying, nor did either care to turn and look. The two pokemon stayed focused on each other and the target, until the flash of lightning struck. The snivy hissed in complaint, as the rockruff was conflicted. Would this rodent expect him to split his meal with this human? Surely the electric-type didn't eat meat, so this didn't add up that the creature was helping her. Nonetheless, the ball struck home and absorbed the snake, earning a yip from the rock-typ.e

capture attempt!
A capture is attempted on Snivy! Pokeball on an injured pokemon is a 40% chance. RNG says... 62! Oh no!!

The ball bursted open in light as the dog turned to focus her assault on the prey. This was perfect for her! While the snake was dealing with the human, she could finish off the wooper and be off with her meal. Yes, this was a favorable outcome for her after all. The pokemon moved in, crashing her body into the pokemon as the snivy reappeared. The wooper called out in complaint, and continued to fight back. She wobbled on the ground before spouting another water gun, this time aimed at the rockruff. She flailed as the water struck, not liking this attack at all.

The grass-type was wholly confused and extremely angry. She'd never come across anything so terrifying and mysterious as the object that struck her. One moment, it was pain from the impact. The next, she was... gone, almost. Except it almost felt like nothing had happened, and here she was on the ground again. She hissed at the human, and at the strange device on the ground. What had this human done? Why were he and the rodent attacking her? Did this emolga want to be lunch next? Though she was getting worn down, and a glance at the other two told her she was losing this battle for the food.

Vex watched as the ball hit it's mark and held his breath as Snivy disappeared within it. "Stay in the ball. Stay in the ball." He chanted as it rocked on the ground. Once, twice, a flash of light and the Snivy was standing back where it had started hissing at him. "No! Drat. Donut hit it again!" Vex wasted no time in calling upon his little Emolga to try and immobilize the Snivy. If they could knock it out he might have better luck catching it. And then he could focus on the Rockruff. He just had to hope that the SNivy would be easier to catch if they could knock it out or paralyze it.

Donut, while still not entirely thrilled with his human's attempts to capture the predatory grass type, decided that it certainly wouldn't be a terrible thing to show it that he wasn't easy prey. If the boy succeeded in catching the Snivy, it would be better for her to know now that he was not going to just let her eat him. He was capable of fighting back and would do so without hesitation. You should have just stayed in the ball, Snivy. The Emolga chattered before sending another jolt of electricity toward the grass snake. And then he turned to glance at the Rockruff who was doing battle with the Wooper. From the looks of things, the Wooper actually still had enough fight in it to try and escape. If it did, perhaps it will have learned its lesson about wandering the forest and not being careful about attracting predators. If not...well..something else was bound to eat it later.

Once Donut had attacked the Snivy, Vex waited to see if it had been knocked out. If it was still able to fight, he wasn't going to use a pokeball on it. He was already down one pokeball, since it was still sitting on the ground far too close to the Snivy, Rockruff and Wooper for him to grab it. And he wasn't about to 'lose' a second in the same way. So, for now, he would wait and see what happened, though he kept an eye on the rockruff and wooper as well. The canine was beginning to look rather tired and if it decided to give up on the food and run Vex would miss his chance to try and catch it. But what could he do while the Snivy was still a threat? He didn't have much other food to offer and he doubted he be able to get close enough to finish off the Wooper for the canine. His gaze flicked to the Snivy. If Donut had succeeded in knocking it out the Rockruff might see it as an easier meal that the Wooper. That was not the outcome he wanted, that was for sure. He wanted to bring both of these pokemon back home with him.

Donut, still perched in the relative safety of the tree, glanced from Vex to the three pokemon below him. The Emolga glanced at the Rockruff and noted how tired it looked. If you hadn't wasted time fighting you could be eating already. But now it looks like your dinner is going to get the best of you. He chattered, scratching at the scar in his ear as he watched the canine. My human is a better hunter than you are. He even killed a demon once. He could probably kill that wooper too. He added, hoping he was reading the situation right. If the boy was trying to help the rockruff, perhaps to make it see him as an ally and want to join them, then calling Vex a superior hunter might do...well...something. It could backfire and the pup might attack but it also looked like the thing was too tired to do much. Maybe they had a chance to get out of this alive, after all.

As the emolga leaped into action once more, preparing a burst of lightning, the snivy really started to rethink being here. When she'd leapt into the fray, it was under the assumption that it would be her and the dog alone fighting over the wooper. It was a simple battle, a test between hunters for the prize. But this human and his blasted rodent had to get involved and ruin everything. As it was, she was already feeling extremely damaged. She was capable to keep going, but she wasn't sure how to proceed. For the moment, she wasn't fighting, as the snake hadn't determined this was a battle worth having still. She needed to decide whether to flee, or if there was some way to get out of this with some food.

It didn't seem to matter that the pokemon hesitated to fight however. The lightning crashed down on the pokemon once more. Though she had a natural resistance to such attacks, it was still a lot to take. She stumbled a bit, the intense damage from this fight trying to kick in. She pushed out the dark feeling pressing into her consciousness, but it was clear now more than ever that she needed to escape if she wanted to survive. Staying meant death, and the hunter had no plans of dying today. If she was left alone, she would escape without issue, sprinting into the brush to put a series of thick plants between her and the enemies. There was no hope for this now, and she needed desperately to rest and recover before she could afford to hunt again. What a let-down.

While the dog was certainly pleased with the aid in removing that snake from the situation, the words coming out of the rodent's mouth were absolutely ridiculous. This little pathetic thing, get the best of her, a creature born to hunt? How insulting. And from such a tiny, fragile creature itself. She growled at Donut. "Shut up you dirty rodent! You're beneath me, and I am more than capable of taking out this meal. You'll see as I feast on it, and plan on you next." She turned back to see that the wooper was gathering water for another gun attack, but she wouldn't let that happen. Water was one of the things she hated most, aside from losing. She wasn't about to be done in but this creature right after having given apiece of her mind to the emolga.

She sniped in with an attack quickly, her sucker punch sure to get the better of the wooper before it could get the attack off. And, as she'd hoped, it was successful. The damage from the punching attack knocked the ground-type unconscious, the water bubbling out harmlessly before the creature returned to breathing. Though, as she struck, she felt a sharp pierce of pain in her arm. She grunted but kept through with the attack, holding her head proud from the strike. "See? I took care of this one just fine. Now, are you here to take my kill, or will you and your human leave me to my meal?" She kept on a brave face, but as she tried to stand normally, her leg tried to give out. She kept her gaze locked on the emolga though, not wanting to show how much it hurt. Her injured leg bent, keeping the paw just off the ground and removing all pressure from it. It hurt like hell, but this wasn't over yet.

As it turned out, Donut's attack had not caused the Snivy to fall unconscious and Vex only had seconds to decide what to do. As the Snivy turned to flee, Vex threw a second pokeball at it and hoped it would stay caught this time. If not, he knew it would escape and he wasn't about to chase it down, not when he still had the Rockruff that he could try and catch as well. If it managed to break free again, he could comfort himself with the thought that he might encounter another one in the future. Snivy weren't exactly a common sight but he'd seen a few of them before so he felt pretty okay about his chances to find another Snivy and try again to catch it.

Regardless of whether or not the Snivy stayed caught this time, Vex turned his focus to the Rockruff. He couldn't yet go to retrieve the two pokeballs he'd thrown in case the Rockruff saw it as a threat and attacked him. The Wooper was laying still and silent and the Rockruff was standing over it glaring up at Donut in the tree. Whatever Donut had done while he'd been focusing on the Snivy, apparently it had annoyed the Rockruff. And with the canine focused on Donut, Vex wasn't sure if he should call the Emolga back to him or let him return on his own. For now, he was going to wait and see what happened. If you plan on catching me you better learn to fly. I'm not coming down out of this tree and if you try to attack I'll just go up higher until you can't reach me. Donut pointed out, confident in his ability to remain out of the Rockruff's reach, especially since that last attack on the Wooper seemed to have injured her paw. An injured hunter was easy to avoid and she already had a meal so he doubted she'd waste the effort of trying to get to him anyway.

As for taking her kill, Donut only gave a chittering little laugh. I'm not interested in your food, pup. Pretty sure my human isn't either. If he was he'd have killed that annoying blob before you even had a chance to. It was following us for ages with it's stupid shouting. Maybe it hadn't actually been ages but still, if Vex had wanted to kill that thing for food Donut was sure he would have. So your kill is safe from us. But you saw him try and catch that Snivy, right? I think he's more interested in you. I think he's been looking for a hunting partner and what better partner than a great hunter like yourself? His original plan hadn't exactly worked out the way he'd intended but at least the Rockruff was talking to him, whether it would listen or not was debatable, especially considering it had injured itself to prove a point. Why don't you at least let him take a look at your paw? That last attack looked like it might have hurt. It would be better to let him look at it than make it worse by walking around on it right? He did not point out the fact the Rockruff was very obviously limping. If it had injured itself to prove it could knock out it's prey then he didn't doubt it would continue to do so if he implied that she couldn't do something because her paw was hurt. He could already tell she was too stubborn and proud to accept help if it didn't seem like it was her idea.

Vex was watching the exchange from where he stood, not sure if he should approach or not. The Rockruff was standing with one paw lifted off the ground, as if it hurt to stand on it, and he wanted to help. But he didn't have any potions and he wasn't sure a bandage would be much help. Still, he wanted to do something to make sure the Rockruff was okay. But what? He took a few hesitant steps closer before kneeling on the ground and looking through his bag. He had his lunch, the paralyze heal, some bandages, a pokemon treat and his pokeballs but little else. He glanced at his lunch and then at the Rockruff and the motionless Wooper behind it. Food probably wouldn't do much considering it had the Wooper to eat but it had seemed interested in the cookies. Maybe it would find the roasted Pidgey meat he had just as appealing. How often did a Rockruff get to eat birds anyway? They likely just flew away rather than stick around to get eaten. So he pulled out the carefully wrapped package and opened it, breaking pieces of the meat off and eating one before holding one out toward the Rockruff. "Hey, why don't you try some of this? It's good. My mom cooked it for me but I'll share it with you. Donut doesn't like it because he doesn't eat meat." He said before giving the piece a little toss so that it landed close to the canine. He wasn't sure what he's do from there but food seemed to be the best way to at least start trying to get closer to the Rockruff. Once that happened he could see about trying to convince it to come home with him.

capture attempt!
A capture is attempted on Snivy! Pokeball on an almost ded pokemon is a 50% chance. RNG says... 5! Snivy is captured! She will start with 5% loyalty. Congrats!

The snivy continued running, thinking that she could simply slink away without any further intervention. Unfortunately, it seemed the human had other plans. As she was faced away from him, darting to the bushes as fast as her body would take her, the device flew through the air. It crashed on her, and activated. Once again, the red light flashed out as the snake hissed, absorbing her into the pokeball. It closed shut and shook a couple times, before settling with a decisive click. It seemed this time, in her much more weakened state, she was unable to fight off the effects of the trapping device. They'd see no more of the snivy unless Vex elected to let her out.

The dog was hardly focused on the capture of the snivy, instead focusing on the words of this rodent. She climbed into the tree to escape, stating that the pup need to learn to fly to get to her. She growled, but knew the pokemon was right. Much as she might will it, flying wasn't an option. And climbing trees wasn't exaclty her forte either, especially with the pain in her paw currently. There was no way she was getting up there at the moment, in this state. Anyway, she was too exhausted to consider the idea of it anyway, and had the kill she wanted. And with the assurance that they weren't here to take her meat, she was content enough with the situation.

Though the human was moving now, seeming to get a bit closer. He started messing with the cloth contraption that humans tended to have with them, unsure what dangerous mysteries could be held within. She let a low warning growl out, even as she listened to the words of the emolga. He seemed interested in her, as a hunting partner? If this human was a hunter, he certainly had poor taste in his first partner. The flying rodent would be useless for such things. Sure, she'd seen human hunting with their pokemon, but she'd never even considered the concept of it as her future before. She thought they were just stolen from the wild and forced into labor, just like the grass-type was just now.

She did not reply at the moment to the words, heavily considering what had been stated. It was true that her paw had been hurt, but what could a human do about it? They did have those strange devices, but that certainly wasn't an option. She had no interest in being forcibly bound and restricted to doing whatever this brainwashing creature commanded. But then, he wasn't using any of the devices on her. How odd. As he pulled out something, she was able to smell it before she saw it. The meat was pulled out, mouth-watering as it was. it was odd, not like the fresh meat she was used to. But that didn't make it less appetizing.

The human's voice spoke out, the noises making no sense to her. How did he expect her to understand his garbled noises? Either way, she was further perplexed as the human threw a piece of the meat towards her. Was he... offering this to her? Why did this hunter throw things on the ground like this? Just like that weird treat from before. Though just as then, she was not one to turn down free food. She approached and sniffed the meat, but no amount of thoughts could possibly resist the tantilizing aroma it gave off. She quickly bit into it, savoring the flavor until she swallowed. It was certainly delicious, and she appreciated the human sharing but, what did he expect out of it?

Did he truly want this fish that badly? That he'd resort to bribery? Or perhaps, it was a trade. She was confused by what it could be but she supposed that giving him a piece in exchange was tolerable. She turned back to the wooper, and dug her teeth into the creature. She dragged it closer to the human, albeit moving with some difficulty in her limp, and stepped behind it, placing her good front paw on it's body. She scratched at a piece of it, creating a tear in the side and marking off a piece of the meat. She faced the tear at the human, keeping her paw on the rest. He could have this bit, but the rest was hers. She took down this kill, after all.

The Rockruff didn't seem to have much else to say to him so Donut simply stayed where he was, watching silently as Vex tried to approach the Rockruff and spoke to her. Vex tossed some meat on the ground and Donut blinked. Why toss food on the ground when the Rockruff clearly had a meal? He doubted Vex was trying to save the Wooper. If that was the case he'd have attacked the Rockruff earlier and helped the irritating water type escape. Maybe it was the only thing he could think of to do that might intrigue the Rockruff enough to stick around longer. That seemed like the sort of thing Vex would do. As the exchange continued, Donut headed back toward Vex, leaping from branch to branch until he was settled above the boy's position. He wasn't quite willing to come down just yet but he could watch from where he was.

As he had hoped, the Pidgey meat seemed to entice the Rockruff a bit and she quickly devoured the piece he'd toss to her. But then she did something he didn't expect. She dragged the unconscious Wooper closer and clawed at it until she had made a gash in it's skin with her claws. Then she stepped aside and placed a paw on the creature. He wasn't quite sure what it meant or what he should do about it. But his plan was starting to work. The Rockruff was closer to him now and not being visibly hostile. He doubted he could try and pet her without getting bit but he had managed to get a better look at her paw. It didn't appear to be broken and there were no cuts in the skin that would indicate a serious injury. With his, admittedly very limited, medical knowledge he guessed that the pup had just twisted her paw when she'd gone in for her last attack. Which meant she would probably heal just fine even without his help. Still, he wanted to be sure she was fine and he really wanted to get her to come with him. Rather than do anything with the Wooper, Vex pointed to the Rockruff's paw. "Are you hurt? Let me see, please. I can help...I think. If not my mom can. Please come with me. We'll even bring your Wooper and you can eat it when you feel better."

From his perched above the human and the pup, Donut was just about as confused as Vex was. What was the Rockruff doing? Was it...trying to share the way Vex did? I don't think he understands what you want. Just like we don't understand them, humans have a hard time understanding us too. The Emolga pointed out, reluctant to admit that he had no clue what was going on either. He was pretty sure he knew what Vex wanted and he'd told the Rockruff that. As Vex pointed to canine's paw and spoke, Donut had to pause for a second to try and figure out what he was saying. He was pointing at the injured paw, and Donut knew 'mom' was the older female human that Vex shared his human nest with. He also knew that the 'mom' human made medicines and took care of injuries. Which meant Vex was probably saying he could have the mom human fix up the canine's paw. He saw you limping and he wants to help. There's another human he shares his nest with that helps injured pokemon. I think he wants to take you to see her to make sure your paw is okay. He even said you can keep that Wooper you killed all for yourself. He wasn't certain on that last part but he really doubted Vex would steal the Rockruff's kill since he'd made no move to touch it thus far.

The human... pointed? She looked oddly at the finger that pointed out towards her paw. Not the creature, but her paw. Was he just not understanding what she was saying? How bothersome. Either way, she wanted to know what the human was thinking. He was rather confusing to her, but he had helped in removing that snake from the equation to allow her to go about her hunt. But why? If the human wasn't trying to get the wooper for meat, and wasn't trying to imprison her, then what interest did he have in her? This was just not adding up, but he was pointing to her injured paw. Perhaps he'd noticed her pain then? But what was this human to do about it?

Then the rodent started to translate. She still had fierce contention, albeit uncalled for, against the emolga. But still she listened as the electric type was explaining that they don't understand. Well duh, she already knew that. Which was why she was using gestures rather than barks. Still, the pup kept her mouth shut as the pokemon studied his human, and tried to puzzle out what his purpose was. It wasn't long before he was speaking up once again, mentioning that the human had one in his nest that healed others. And more specifically, that he wanted to heal her without taking her kill.

The canine was still extremely suspicious of the whole situation. But, as she thought for a moment, the human had ample opportunity to get between her and her kill. She certainly wasn't about to simply trust the boy, overly possessive of this meat she marked as her own. But then again, her paw was burning in pain, the muscle searing even as she kept it mostly relaxed. The idea of some medicine to help was rather appetizing, and she could always run if she felt there was any funny stuff going on. While she didn't really want to spend any further time with the rodent, she supposed the human wasn't all bad.

befriending attempt!
A befriending is attempted on Rockruff! Unlike Donut, Vex has made a pretty good impression, for the most parts. The shared snacks and meat, along with helping to keep the snivy off her stolen prey, adds up to some good acts. She's still stubborn, and doesn't like the snake nor rodent much, but the human seems to have some good views on not trying to interrupt or take her kill during a hunt. Donut's translation is pretty curious too, even if he doesn't totally trust the human. I'm setting the chance at 35%. RNG says... 30! Success! Rockruff will start with 11% loyalty - she's more of a lone ranger, so it will definitely take some adjusting to start working with Vex.

"Hm. Very well, I'll carry my kill and follow. But if I see any funny business that does add up into your story, you'll both regret it. Keep it peaceful and I will too." Not that her threat was entirely peaceful in itself, but she was at least willing to go with them for now. He didn't seem to be wanting to do anything terrible, based on his posture and scent. There wasn't anything besides previous experience and a bit of suspicion that told her this was a terrible idea. So, for the time being, she supposed it wouldn't be bad. Once they started off, she would follow a couple feet behind, carrying her kill in her mouth and occasionally growling softly as she pushed forward on her injured foot.

And so they would be able to start their journey back to town.

For a moment, Vex was worried that the lack of understanding between himself and the Rockruff would ultimately lead to the Rockruff leaving and returning to the forest. It didn't help that Donut seemed to have annoyed the canine earlier. But whatever was going on between the Emolga and the Rockruff seemed to be working in his favor at this point. But, for the moment, they seemed to have come to some understanding as Donut chattered and the Rockruff barked back at him. Though it was difficult to say for sure, their communication didn't seem to be aggressive. It also didn't seem overly friendly but they weren't attacking each other so he counted that a win. I have no interest in attacking you. But I'll defend myself and the boy if I have to. Having reached an understanding with the Rockruff, Donut glided down to land on the boy's shoulder. He wasn't keen on the idea of being so close to a predator and he definitely didn't want to share the human nest with these two but he didn't really have much choice. Perhaps the adult male human's companion would keep these two new ones in line.

Vex, unaware of the agreement between the two pokemon, knew he couldn't stand there all day. He had the Snivy that needed rest and treatment from his mother and he should return home before it started to get dark. "Well...okay then. Good luck out here. Enjoy that Wooper." Vex told the Rockruff, standing and moving over to collect the pokeballs he'd tossed earlier. He tucked the empty one back in his bag but the one containing the Snivy he held in his hand a moment. He knew the grass type was injured from the fight and it probably wouldn't be happy with him for catching it. He'd have his work cut out for him trying to earn it's loyalty but he would tackle the challenge head on. He tucked that ball away as well and started for home.

After a few steps, however, Vex noticed that he wasn't alone. Donut was, of course, on his shoulder, but the Rockruff had picked up the Wooper and was limping along after him. He wanted to try and carry the pup but he doubted it would let him. And he had no intention of trying to take its kill even if it was only temporary. In a effort to help the pup but not seem to be helping, Vex set a slower pace than he normally would have, allowing the Rockruff to not push herself too hard while injured and carrying the weight of her meal. He paused here and there, pretending to be listening to the sounds of the forest around them in order to let her rest. It would take him longer to get home this way, but at least he wasn't going to have to worry about the pup falling behind or hurting herself more by trying to run or something. He was't sure his plan would work the way he hoped but unless he wanted to risk getting bit so he could carry the Rockruf there wasn't much else he could do.
