Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Lore

Their sons grow suicidally beautiful
At the beginning of October,
And gallop terribly against each other’s bodies.

- James Wright

Paul met the sight before him with disdain. The training grounds were rather quiet today, and he was hardly surprised. Who would want to be spending a lovely late-summer day here? Still, he had moved to Crater City in part because he heard of a gathering of people seeking to better themselves and their Pokemon. He figured he should at least visit the training grounds provided to that end. After all, moving here had given him a discount or something, hadn't it?

His gaze roamed idly across the field. The mud pit would simply not do at all. The targets and dummies... He could've sworn he saw some of those dummies move, and he didn't like that much. No, he suspected he'd do his best to keep his distance from them, unless he absolutely had to go over there.

Obstacles seemed like a much better way to train for the kind of thing that Paul was interested in anyways, like agility and dancing. Speaking of dancing... he reached into his pocket and pulled out the Pokeball, examining it for a second. The red, smooth sheen of the sphere gave him a brief pause. Like a gem in the rough, he felt the need to see it... improved. It had potential, and he would be loathe to allow it to go to waste.

"Can I be of assistance?" A light, silvery tone interrupted his thoughts, and his heart skipped a beat as he turned to see a beautiful woman with strikingly deep blue eyes. "I'm a Peace Officer working the training grounds. My job is to help people get the most out of training here," she explained, mistaking Paul's wide-eyed expression for one of confusion.

His breath was taken away. He had never seen someone so beautiful. He needed her. Finally he came to his senses and responded, "A Peace Officer? Oh my, I'm afraid I mistook you for an angel. Forgive my staring, miss...?"

The young woman blushed slightly, a rosy tinge gracing the porcelain of her pale face,
"Oh... Um... Thank you...? Sylvana. You can call me Sylvana. Please don't call me miss, though... I... It's a little strange."

"As you wish, Sylvana," Paul gave a dazzling smile as he turned up his bewitching charm. "It's my first time out on the training fields. I must say, I've been missing out, if you work here. I'll have to drop by more often."

Somewhat flustered, and unsure of what to do with this development, Sylvana hesitated, an awkward straining in the back of her throat as she struggled with how to respond with this intense attention. Sensing he was coming on too strongly, Paul looked away, returning to examining his Pokeball. After a moment of calculated pause, he spoke, "It's time to dance, Melete." He tossed the sphere before him in a graceful arc. It hit the ground and bounced back to his hand, where he deftly caught it out of the air with ease. Appearing in a flash of light, the Oricorio stretched his wings to the sky and let out a triumphant cry of its name.

He fluffed his feathers as he returned to a neutral stance, then looked out across the field. Mud as far as the eye could see. With a look of disdain, he turned to his trainer, "What in the name of... Why are we here?"

"Don't sound so offended, Melete. Sylvana, I'd like you to meet my partner, Melete. Melete, this is Sylvana. She'll be helping us out." Sylvana gave a small smile and a wave to the pale purple bird. She had to admit, he looked quite good. It was evident that the man took good care of his Pokemon, which she appreciated. Paul waved towards the wooden poles. "Show us how quick you are on your feet, won't you? Weave between those poles." Melete hesitated. This didn't sound like something he wanted to do, honestly. As the bird held still, Paul urged, "Come on. It'll be training to be stronger and more agile, too. You want that, don't you?"

Finally, Melete made up his mind. Choosing a line of poles that had about two feet of space between them, he dashed towards it. He came running at it straight on, but when he was a few feet away from the first pole, he veered to the left a little bit.

After veering off course just a few feet, Melete suddenly turned back towards the first wooden pole. He ran past it and abruptly turned, using his wings to steady himself by quickly slipping one out and into the air to promote a stronger stream to slip into. The tips of his wing feathers grazed the rough hewn poles uncomfortably, so Melete resolved to not allow his beautiful pink tipped feathers to get so close to the obstacles. If he wasn’t careful he could rub them against the poles and even wear them thin. He could never allow that. Melete quickly strutted around the next pole, much more precisely and carefully. Once again, he used his wings to give him a little extra push of speed and to quickly change direction, darting between the next two poles.

Even as he did so, he kept his movements fluid, elegant. His head was raised and his feet stepped in the dusty track lightly. Each pole was an opportunity to flash his elaborately fanned wing feathers out and flutter them quickly. He focused intensely on each agile movement, his eyes staring ahead at the next pole and his body settling into a rhythmic flow.

Paul and Sylvana watched, enraptured by the Oricorio’s display. With a triumphant coo, he completed his fluttering, dancing dash through the agility poles and strutted back to the humans with a self-important swagger.

Sylvana smiled and spoke excitedly, "Oh! That was... That was beautiful!" She looked at Paul in amazement, "I never... realized just how pretty a Pokemon could be while it's training."

Paul's heart pounded and he grinned, cooking up a plan on how to impress her, "Oh? You think that's beautiful? Wait until you see him dance!"

Melete returned proudly and pretended to be busy preening his already-pristine plumage. Paul’s skin erupted in goosebumps as he watched and felt every feather being nibbled and plied just so, a shockingly sublime sensation as each of his feathers was given a gentle massage.

”You know, I think there’s someone you two should meet,” Sylvana piped up, her eyes shining. She pulled out a pokeball and a Pidove suddenly appeared on the ground just a few feet from Melete.

Paul nearly choked on the breath caught in his throat at the sudden appearance of another bundle of feathers and nerve endings. The Pidove looked curiously from her trainer to the strange, golden-haired man that was gasping silently.

Confused, but flattered, by Paul’s enraptured expression at the appearance of her small bird, she nervously prompted, ”Do... do you like her?”

Wordlessly, Paul nodded and stretched out a hand towards the Pidove. She seemed startled. Was he trying to convince her to jump onto his hand...? He was a complete stranger! Why would she trust a complete stranger? She glanced at Sylvana, wishing for guidance on what to do.

The woman broke into a sweat of indecisiveness. She shrugged uselessly, and the Pidove stared disapprovingly at her. Finally, the Pidove made its own decision, and it fluttered up from the ground, onto Paul's hand. The little claws dug into and grasped tightly his fingers, sending a prickle of pain up his arm.

There was a sharp intake of cold, smoky air, and every muscle in Paul's body was suddenly frozen in time. The Pidove shrank and its feathers morphed from a dusty, cloudy gray to a beautiful green sheen.

"You have to get out of here. Move on. Save yourself." the bird spoke, but its eyes were glazed and lifeless and its beak didn't move. Paul was too shocked to even cry or shudder, and he simply stared in horrified wonder at the bird cradled against his chest.

"Melete? But... you're not green... And you've never been this small..." Paul murmured as he tried to reach out and brush off some of the ash that was settling on his feathers.

There was a dangerous fluttering of feathers as the bird suddenly took off from his hand, scratching the delicate skin of his palm. Paul gasped and his gaze was drawn away from his chest and towards the gray bird that flew back to the ground beside Melete, looking at him with some alarm.

"What was that you said?" the woman asked, appearing concerned as she leaned towards him.

"Ah... Nothing. I was merely surprised by the loveliness of your bird. She's quite a lovely creature," he spoke meekly. There was a second of silence, and he suddenly turned to look at Sylvana. Regaining some of his usual boisterousness, he sported a grin and winked, "Oh! Don't worry though; she's still not as lovely a creature as you."

Melete begged to differ, staring intensely at the Pidove and cocking his head from one side to the other. He flapped his wings once, fluffing the feathers out as much as he could and sweeping one wing in front of him and resting it by his face, the fan spreading open.

The Pidove looked at him in some alarm, unsure of why the larger bird had suddenly made such a movement. In response, Melete soothed, "No need to be alarmed, pretty hen. I would never hurt someone as... lovely as you." He danced, shifting his weight from one foot to the other and drawing his sky-colored wing across his front, letting it fold, then extend out and away from him. The fan at the tip of his wing fluttered alluringly. He fell into a practiced, lulling dance.

"O-Oh..." she cooed bemusedly, backing up a step, still uncertain of what to do. She examined his pristine feathers and superior form. He did seem quite healthy, and overall a beautiful specimen. He could easily be a fine mate, though he seemed young still, and possibly not exactly strong yet. She cocked her head and her eyes roved over his wings which still floated through the air effortlessly as he danced back and forth, creeping closer to her, then further away. Every single feather, every single muscle, was kept in perfect order and careful coordination.

Pressing his advantage, seeing how she was watching his every move carefully, Melete stretched his limbs gracefully and continued his dance as he took a few more careful steps towards her. "Do you like what you see?" he murmured.

"W-Well..." she hopped backwards another step, watching his intricate movements with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. "I... I don't know."

"Well, I suppose I must continue dancing then. And then you will know," responded Melete smoothly as he settled deeper into his trance-like movements, moving his focus from her reaction to his body. He kept his breathing deep and even, his eyes half-closed, as he danced the most seductive dance his species knew, a dance literally inviting a soul to come and share his body and his life.
