Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Heeeeyy ~~~

I 100% forgot to put up a post earlier. Whoops.

After work [I'm only working half the day ahaha] I'll be driving to pickup a friend, and then heading up to Michigan for the weekend. I won't be back until late Sunday night, so this absence notice is until Monday.

Teeechnically it's going to all be down time, but I'm planning this to be some much needed R&R. So while there's a chance I'll be unable to resist logging in, I'm planning to disconnect and just relax this entire weekend to destress. Especially since my foot injury has been draining my energy, which has just made everything more difficult.

So! I'll be online in the morning, but after that I'll be out till Monday! Enjoy your weekend everyone ~

[OOC: Requesting a Dwebble from the swarm! Though negl I have no plans to catch it - I just want to play with the chances that something else might pop up instead 0v0]

Taking a deep breath, the woman stared back at the compilation of tents. Most were the same basic make and coloring, a few here and there having tents with a little more color or simply larger size with better make. But honestly the woman was fed up with staring at them. Omega and his group apparently didn't have work for her to do at the moment, and she couldn't just sit around waiting. Normally she'd go up to the tunnels to harvest metals, and would be able to hunt pokemon while there for food. But since there was no longer a need for metal apparently, she wasn't going up to that legendary forsaken place again.

Instead, she turned her head and looked to the rising hills. When she originally traveled here to the camp, the three of them had been mostly focused on the destination. Being in unknown territory meant that she needed to move quickly and find a home base. Somewhere for supplies and medical care if any of them needed it. In their rush, she'd even chosen not to stop through Crater City. It was an unnecessary detour, and so the trio pushed straight through the plains to the hills beyond. And then focused on finding their way here. She'd noticed some drastic changes to the environment in both areas though, much different than the forest she'd grown accustomed too.

It was certainly going to be tougher to sneak around and run, that was for sure. The constant slopes made progress slow, unless one chose to weave between them. But then, you have to deal with having very limited visibility. While the concept of not being able to see everything hadn't been too far off in the thick forest, these hills were something else. Unlike a tree that she could maneuver around easily, these hills required too much time and effort to track around or over. Not too mention they needed to be able to find their way back.

Nonetheless, with no other duties from Omega's group, this was her chance to explore it a bit at least. Dagger strapped to her hip, she looked down at the foxes. The smooth blue fox, who'd just joined them before coming to this place, and her faithful partner, with yellow fur sparking with electricity. They were quiet for the moment. Still, she nodded to them, and them to the hills, to let them know where she was headed. Jolteon barked enthusiastically, while Neptune stayed silent. He wasn't by any means over his suspicions or trusting of this woman, but their hunts together were actually enjoyable. Not that he'd ever admit it.

Truly, the only one the vaporeon seemed to somewhat bond with at this point was the jolteon - which the electric-type was sure was because the human was a human. She tried to tell him to give her a chance, but it was clearly an uncomfortable topic. Besides, she wasn't his mom! She wasn't about to tell him what to do. If he wanted to be stubborn, so be it. The lightning-fox shot ahead, the other immediately taking it as a challenge. He'd found quickly that the both of them ran a lot, and in truth he enjoyed the feeling. He'd never been able to stretch his legs and soar across the ground before. But he was the slowest, and that bothered him. So he felt challenged each time one of them took off to press forward and try to get faster than them.

The woman was right up with them, keeping within a few feet of them. Jolteon was more the used to keeping her pace down so she didn't lose the others, but she was always glad to see how much quicker the human had gotten since they met. The vaporeon was still pretty pokey, but he was more natural at it with his four legs than the human was. They jogged into the hills, curving around the first hill in the valley and keeping an eye out for any pokemon. Ideally she could take out her frustration on a kill or two, and get some nice fresh meat from something that wasn't living in a literal rock.

Max - NPC

The little boy who encouraged his adopted parents to take her in after she first arrived in Terrene, the fellow immigrant has grown on her. They used to get up to all sorts of childish trouble together, up until she finally learned the skills she needed to hunt. She visits him every time she returns to Ashfield, out of obligation and because she cares for the runt.

If any are interested, I would be willing to draft up a profile for potential adoption.

Victor - PC

Though Leona wouldn't call any human other than Max a 'friend' currently, Victor's earned a place of respect. About the closest any adult is to friendship after their excursion into the tunnels, and his offered kindness when she was injured - Even if she was too stuck in her head and flustered to accept it.

Nox - PC

Their speed date went reasonably well. She doesn't really see him as much in terms of friendship, but she has no reason to dislike him. Plus, his need to learn how to fight with a weapon resonates with her old self, so she feels like she wants to help him get on his feet after being dumped in Terrene.

Avery - PC

Much more complex than most of her relationships with people. They'd gotten off to a rough foot, through a misunderstanding. But, after reflection, she convinced herself that he'd meant no offense during their date, and his offer of knowledge was certainly tempting. Still not to a level of friendship, but she's somewhat interested in speaking with him again in the future.

No one is at this level yet. Honestly, until she gets through some required events/development first, there's not potential here.

Though, seeing as how spoiler alert that will be happening very soon, the door could open.

First, Leona will go through a small and very physical romance - That is to say, she will not be able to commit emotionally to her first relationship. I do not have a preference whether this ends up being a PC or NPC - the original plan was for this to be an NPC, but plans have changed, and it's open if someone is looking for a fling. The relationship would have to be a man, and someone who will be loyal to her even as she's not around much [because, you know, hunting].

If you are looking long term or something after that, she will be open from that break-up on.

Blanche - NPC

The teen who once hired Leona to bring back her abandoned Vaporeon. While the teen is currently unaware of what happened, or even if either Leona or Neptune are still alive, it certainly won't be a positive reunion if these two meet again. Blanche currently has the pokeball for Neptune, making her a danger to the water-type. And Leona is determined to protect Neptune from being forced into an unwanted life ever again.

Energy

'Energy' refers to the amount of energy that a pokemon expends during battle in order to perform their moves. This is the equivalent of PP, but this system is adapted to relate more to a realistic roleplay-centric system, rather than a video game limit. An individual pokemon's energy is tracked similar to health; however their max energy scales based on their level. This provides more grounds for higher level pokemon to be able to complete more powerful and a higher quantity of moves than lower level pokemon. This relates only to pokemon moves that are used - That is to say, creative actions that aren't from the pokemon's movepool (running, positioning, using an item, etc.) will not effect the pokemon's energy level for that battle.

When they're young, the energy increases very quickly. As they mature, but are still growing a little bit (around lvl 15-25), this increase slows down. Once they are fully adult, energy increase slows even further. Once a Pokemon is lvl 20, you can do a quick approximation of how much their maximum energy is by adding 100 to their level and rounding down to a multiple of 5. Note that this number will be wrong if you've used other methods to increase energy, as detailed below.

◒ PP Increasing Items

Each PP Up gives the pokemon +5%, and PP Max gives the pokemon +15%. You cannot gain more than 15% energy from any combination of PP Up's and PP Max on a single pokemon.

◒ Training

Training devs can be done to increase a pokemon's energy limit by 5%. You cannot gain more than 15% energy from training a single pokemon. This is similar to training a Pokemon to learn a new move, but slightly less specific since you should be focusing on training the Pokemon's endurance and overall strength up rather than any particular technique.

This means the maximum energy a Pokemon can have is 230%.

Energy Cost

In general, a move's energy cost relates to the power behind that move. For every 5 Power a move has, it costs 1 additional energy, so take the Power of a move and divide it by 5 to get the energy required. Moves that don't have a power or change based on certain circumstances will have special rules on energy calculation. Here are some examples of basic damaging moves:
Tackle (40 Power) costs 8% energy
Shockwave (60 Power) costs 12% energy
Flamethrower (90 Power) costs 18% energy

For variable power moves, it is usually right in the middle of the range.
Rollout costs 18% each time you use it.
Night Shade costs 9%.
Low Kick costs 14%.
Magnitude costs 14%

If the move has a condition that must be met in order to double the power, the cost will depend on whether or not you've met the condition. Using the lower power version of the move will cost energy the way a simple damaging move does. For example, Hex has 65 Power, so it will cost 13% energy. Using the higher power version of the move will cost 1.5x the amount of energy needed for the lower power version. We've included some examples below.

Weather Ball 50 power (costs 10% energy, or 15% energy)
Whirlpool 35 power (costs 7% energy, or 11% energy)

◒ Stat Modifiers

Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 1 cost 5% energy
Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 2 cost 7% energy
Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 3 cost 9% energy
Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 4 cost 11% energy
Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 5 cost 13% energy
Moves that change a Pokemon's status by +/- 6 cost 15% energy (This includes Belly Drum.)

◒ Healing and Draining

Healing moves cost energy equal to half the amount healed. Ex: Wish heals 50% of a Pokemon's health, so it would cost 25% to use. Healing moves that heal 1/16 damage every turn (Ingrain, Aqua Ring, Leech Seed) cost 13% energy.

Damaging moves that also heal cost the amount based on the power, plus half of what would normally be healed. Here's a handy-dandy list:
Draining Kiss: 50 Power, 22% energy
Giga Drain: 75 Power, 25% energy
Leech Life: 80 Power, 26% energy
Mega Drain: 40 Power, heals 50% damage done; 15% energy
Drain Punch: 75 Power, heals 50% damage done; 25% energy

Here's an example on calculating the energy:
Absorb: 20 Power, heals 50% of damage done
20 power = 4% energy cost
20 power = 18% damage dealt on average, so 9% health returned on average
healing 9% health costs 5% energy
Absorb's total energy cost = 9% energy

◒ Other

Moves that inflict a status effect (burn, paralyze, confusion) cost 13% Energy. (Ex: Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Wave)

Terrain moves, weather moves, and Gravity cost 20% Energy.

Moves that copy or use another move will spend the energy for the used move, as well as an additional 5% Energy. (Ex: Metronome, Copy Cat, Mimic)

Barrier moves like Light Screen, Reflect, and Magic Coat cost 10% energy

Similar-to-status-inducing moves (Psycho Shift, Encore, Disable) cost 13% energy

Moves that multi hit will cost energy equal to the average power of the move, rounded up to the nearest 5.

◒ Special Exceptions/Moves

Rest uses energy equal to half of what it healed, but your Pokemon will be comatose for 3 entire rounds (posts of yours). They can wake up on your 4th post.

Perish Song requires 50% Energy to use. (And will cause any Pokémon involved in the battle that hears it to lose a large amount of HP and most likely faint.)

Sketch does not cost any energy.

Helping Hand costs 10% energy.

Counter uses the base power from the moved being countered, and functions as a move that doubles power.

Bide will cost energy according on the base power of EACH move that it absorbs, multiplied by 1.5 like moves that double power.

Self-destruct & Explosion will drain the user of all energy in addition to using up all health to faint.

Flail should be calculated based on the current power. Reference Bulbapedia and the user's health to determine the base power when used.

◒ Repetitive Moves

Using the same exact move over and over again will get increasingly tiring. For each time you use a move consecutively, there is an increasing cost unless the Pokemon knows less than 5 moves. Specifically, the move costs extra energy equal to how many times it has been used consecutively. (+2% the second time, +3% the third time, and so on.)

This also applies to repetitively using the same two attacks over and over. For example: repeatedly alternating between Growth and Razor Leaf. Use your best judgement and, as always, feel free to ask if you are uncertain.

◒ Multiple Moves in a Single Turn

Using multiple moves in a single turn is difficult and will cost more energy, as well. Using a second move in a single turn will cost an additional 2% energy. Using a third move in a single turn will cost an additional 3% energy (this will stack for a total of 5% energy spent).

◒ Moves Which Lower Energy

Grudge - Costs 10% energy to use. This attack will take away energy equal to the amount of energy that was used up by the move that fainted the Pokemon (Will not lower it past 0%).
What if you use Grudge and then don't faint? Well, your opponent doesn't lose their energy. However, you still use 10% energy.
Note: Yes, this can be power-played. Yes, we are watching. Don't do that. If your character or Pokemon is experienced enough to recognize the move, then sure. Otherwise, you can't just be like "I'm gonna conveniently not attack this turn lol".

Spite - Costs the same amount of energy that it takes away from the target. Takes away energy equal to the cost of the move last used by the opponent.
Ex: If your opponent used Flamethrower (18% energy), using Spite will cost 18% energy and will take away 18% energy from your opponent.

Pressure - Takes away a fraction of whatever the move being used costs, with a minimum of 1%. The move being used will use the energy for said move, plus 20% of the total move cost. You can multiply the cost by .2 in a calculator to find out what the extra cost is.
Ex: If your opponent used a move that costs 30, they now must spend 36 because of your Pressure ability.

Running Out of Energy

There are a couple ways a pokemon could run out of energy - Mainly, by using it up in battle or by having it drained by another pokemon. Moves that would reduce PP in the games drain energy, so be sure to keep in mind that your pokemon could lose additional energy from certain attacks. Once you are out of energy, the assumption is your pokemon is exhausted from the battle.

But you can actually still attack! However, this comes at a price. Namely, your Pokémon will begin using their health points to execute the moves instead. This can be dangerous though, beyond just the danger of straining your Pokémon too hard.

Note: You cannot use health points to execute healing moves. Sorry, no loopholes here!

Each time your pokemon consumes health in place of energy to use a move, there will be a chance of your pokemon sustaining a major injury in addition to using up health. The roll for injury will occur before the move takes place and the health % is deducted.

If the pokemon at 100 to 90% health when they use a move without having enough energy: 8% chance of injury
If 89 to 80: 15% chance of injury
If 79 to 70: 23% chance injury
If 69 to 60: 30% chance injury
If 59 to 50: 38% chance injury
If 49 to 40: 45% chance injury
If 39 to 30: 53% chance injury
If 29 to 20: 60% chance injury
If 19 to 10: 68% chance injury
If 9 to 0: 75% chance injury

Regenerating Energy

There are two ways that your pokemon will regain spent energy: Resting or Elixirs. For simplicity, we've combined ether and elixir into one, and adjusted the calculations to the energy system to function similarly to how potions restore health. Elixirs work immediately for energy gain, while resting requires that the pokemon spend a certain amount of time out of battle. Depending on what activity they are doing in the interim (walking, running, sleeping, etc.) their energy regeneration will change accordingly.

Energy gained from elixirs is as follows:
Elixir: 30%
Super Elixir: 60%
Hyper Elixir: 90%
Max Elixir: 150%

For your Pokemon to regain energy naturally, particularly between battles, we will use the following table.

In a pokeball:
30 minutes after the battle: regains 25% max energy.
1 hour after battle: regained 45% max energy.
2 hours after battle: regained 60% max energy.
4 hours after battle: regained 85% max energy.
8 hours after battle: energy fully restored.

Being carried: (1.5x the time)
45 minutes after the battle: regains 25% max energy.
1.5 hour after battle: regained 45% max energy.
3 hours after battle: regained 60% max energy.
6 hours after battle: regained 85% max energy.
12 hours after battle: energy fully restored.

Walking along trainer: (2x time)
1 hour after battle: regained 25% max energy.
2 hour after battle: regained 45% max energy.
4 hours after battle: regained 60% max energy.
8 hours after battle: regained 85% max energy.
16 hours after battle: energy fully restored.

Carrying a load (mount or helping move stuff):
No Energy regain.
