Elliot hastily paced around his tent, a large grin plastered on his face. He ran a hand through his long hair and out of his wide eyes. This couldn't be real, right? It was too good to be real... Well, it had been a few days, and it still existed... A portal to the old world! He still couldn't believe it. Although the portal had been established for a good week or two, Elliot still couldn't help but feel extremely giddy about it. So giddy, the thought of sleep never crossed his mind.

A little chuckle escaped him as he looked over to Bernadette, who was quietly resting on his bed. The man smiled even more and crouched over to the multi-colored parrot. "I can't believe this, Bernadette... Can you!? I mean, all that hard work finally paid off!" He quietly cheered, lightly clapping his hands together.

The chatot opened an eye and looked up to her human in a questioning manner. She closed an eye, and nodded. "Yes, yes." She murmured, her voice subtly resembling that of her trainer. Elliot beamed, and lied down on his bed close to his partner. "It's still so amazing! I mean, think of all of the amazing technology and advancements we'll achieve! It's only a matter of time!" He laughed. He suddenly sat up, placing his chin on his hand.

"Hm, I do wonder what the old world is like... Do you think those immigrants would remember aspects of their life if they encounter certain areas? It'd be an interesting case, definitely... Do you think there might be different kinds of pokemon, ones that aren't found in Terrene? I mean, it could be a possiblity..."

The man's rambling would continue, but the chatot would pay no mind to it. She simply answered with a few mindless chirps. The bird let out a sigh along with a light laugh as her trainer suddenly burst to his feet. She could hear the rearranging of items and a thrilled laugh from him.

"It's kind of messing with the compasses, though, so I've noticed... Do you think it would mess up more in certain areas around the mountains? Hm... Or would it fix itself the further we went from camp... Bernadette, get up! We're going out!"

The chatot let out a sigh, but nodded. She couldn't leave him alone. There had to be someone to keep him in check, and Eurydice and Oswald were not the best beings to trust for that job. With a mockingly loud yawn, Bernadette ruffled her feathers and began to fly in the air. Elliot smiled to his partner before looking down at the compass in his hands. She let out yet another sigh before setting herself on the man's shoulder, her talons holding onto his poncho.

"Hey, don't rip that." Elliot commented with a brief squint before making his way out of his tent. The night sky was a common sight for him at this point, but he still was in awe at how pretty the stars were. He relaxed for a moment, taking a deep breath and making pictures with the stars. Bernadette lifted her head to stare at the man's freckled face. "Going?" She chirped, making Elliot snap out of his distracting thoughts. "Ah! Yeah, here we go!"

The man and his chatot would easily leave the camp, them having gone out many times before. Elliot was used to the terrain by now, and smiled as he walking cautiously, occasionally glancing down at the compass that he held in his hand. Bernadette simply stayed perched on his shoulder, but she held her head up high. She glared out into the night-covered wilderness, looking out for potential threats.

While Elliot made his way from the camp, he’d feel the cool breeze of the night time air. The winds were heavier in the mountains but it was nothing so bad as to blow one back. There would only be occasional winds that did such. He’d find that he’d be able to enjoy his walk for some time without an disturbances.

Eventually the young man would hear the footsteps of some kind of creature, sprinting from behind. The sound would draw closer and closer until the swift steps went passed him like a blur. Soon another would be following after the first blur. Together the swift creatures could be seen running ahead of Elliot as they appeared to be chasing an orb of some sort that was floating up above. The ball of energy crackled and glowed as it mysteriously floated down the path.

If Elliot cared to look up he’d notice the balled lightning as well. It was a strange phenomenon and it had managed to capture the attention of these two electrike. Both pups, aiming to catch it and see what it would do. They’d find themselves following the ball up a hill, trying to reach as high as they could. “I’m going to catch it first!” the young one barked.

Not feeling like the younger pup wasn’t competition enough, the older wolf chuckled. “You can’t even catch your breath!” she retorted, noticing how much the young pup was struggling to keep up. They continued up the hill together with things seeming close to a tie.

As Elliot made his way down the path, he would only take a brief note to the light wind that passed by him and Bernadette. The wind caused his long hair to fall into his eyes on multiple occasion, which annoyed him the more he had to brush it aside. He kept his gaze glancing down at the compass he held tightly in his palm, seeing if it would change at all.

But his small walk was soon put to a halt as he heard footsteps rumble from behind him. He squinted at nothing, and looked over his shoulder. The chatot on his shoulder squawked quietly as she was hit with his ponytail. "Sorry, Bernadette." Elliot murmured, although it was clear that he was more focused on the sound. "... You hear that?"

Suddenly, what seemed like a blur flew by his feet. The man let out a surprised yelp and staggered backwards as another blur soon followed after the other. He looked over to his partner for a brief moment with wide eyes. He shook his head, and began to chase after the blurs out of curiosity. A few glances towards his compass were still thrown, though.

As he chased after the electrikes, another sight would catch his attention. A ball of what seemed to be electricity... How was that possible? Well, maybe it was something the electricity specialists knew about. He noted that in the back of his mind as he watched the two dog pokemon try to catch up with it.

Bernadette grumbled as Elliot headed up the hill cautiously. Wasn't this whole thing meant to look at a stupid compass?.. Well, of course he'd get distracted by this. It was as strange as him, and everyone knew he liked the strange. The chatot rolled her eyes, but the subtle hint of a smile was held on her face.

As Elliot followed the electrike up the hill, he’d find the two canines prancing in a circle as the ball electricity was just hovering in a single place. Crackling and glowing, causing the dogs to be hypnotized by its curious existence. It was too high for either of them to reach so they just looked up and barked at it. They dashed around impatiently waiting for it to move or drop down for one of them to catch.

It wouldn’t be long before they noticed the human with his bird creeping up on them. The older electrike eyed Elliot with concern. Why was this human following them? Was it trying to steal the ball electricity for itself? The green wolf stood, prepared to attack if the human came any closer. She growled, warning Elliot to back off.

The other pup was too distracted. In fact, with the older electrike worried about the human, it meant there was a possibility of her getting the ball for herself. She would catch it and she would win. The younger wolf kept hoping into the air. It appeared the more she did so the ball electricity would begin pulling toward her. She spun in circles, excited about this realization. The younger electrike had always found that she was able to attract electricity better than the older one but this was unexpected.

While the pups were focused on the human and electric ball and Elliot stalking them, something else had been lurking in the shadows. The darkness of night was good for this creature to hide. It found it easier to sneak up on others or chase them when it could not be seen. As long as everyone was distracted, it could draw in closer to take a peek at the situation happening between the human and canines. It was just a bit curious and would not make its presence known till it wanted to.

Elliot watched the dogs in curiosity, though his attention was mainly drawn towards the ball of electricity that hovered in the air. He would take a step closer towards the duo, but the older canine was not pleased by his and the chatot's presence. The growling would cause him to stay back, although reluctantly. He instead began to gaze at the other electrike, who had been hopping at the sphere and managed to bring it down further doing so.

More questions began to creep into his mind. How exactly was the pokemon even doing that? Did all electric types have the power to draw electricity to themselves? Well, it would make sense, but he didn't know for sure, since he didn't have any electric types of his own to study that with... What would happen if the chance of the smaller wolf touching the electric energy arose? Would it simply make her more powerful, or something completely different? Elliot blinked, staring in interest at the wolves.

Bernadette sighed as she realized that her trainer was now interested in whatever was happening with the electrikes. To be fair, it was rather odd and intriguing. The chatot never recalled seeing anything of the sorts. Well, except for maybe a few electric types she had seen working with the human her trainer constantly seemed to talk about... She recalled an attack, what was the name of it? Well, great, now she had this bugging her brain for the rest of the night...

An uneasy feeling began to form in her chest. She let out a small hiss under her breath... She felt like they were being watched. Oh great, just great... She turned her head around, trying to look for anything out of the ordinary. But alas, her vision wasn't the greatest in the darkness of the night. Bernadette squinted for a few moments, turning her head back to the electrikes when she realized that she wasn't seeing anything.

... Maybe someone else can. Oh great, and to think she could go one day without having to deal with the misdreavus. It would probably help to have her out to deal with possible night dangers, though... Oh Arceus. She turned her head to Elliot, hesitating before she began to chirp. "Eurydice."

Elliot didn't hear her at first, too focused on the ball lightning to really focus on hearing. The chatot groaned before glancing behind her... Guess she'd have to try again in a bit. For now, she simply prepared herself for any creep that might pop out of the shadows that surrounded the pokemon and her trainer.

While the human remained at bay, the older wolf knew they’d be fine. She could tell the human wanted no trouble or he would have attacked by now. The electrike turned around to see the younger pup was luring the ball to her. The older one was aware of her ability to draw in and absorb electricity but this was unfair. She was using her natural gifts as an advantage.

“Hey that’s cheating!” the older wolf barked. The younger one flinched and began dashing ahead. The ball lightning moved forward as well, seeming to be attracted to the young pup. Not wanting to lose, the older electrike chased after the ball, ignoring the human.

With the human all alone with his bird, the creeper in the shadows saw an opportunity. No one else around would make it easier to frighten him. His bird would likely take off like a torchic. The ghost appeared before the human as nothing but a shadow in the ground. Slowly the shuppet would emerge from the ground as the shadow would begin to disappear.

There the ghost floated before him with a large sinister grin on her face. She looked deranged as she floated there with her head tilted to the side. Her eyes never blinked once as she glared at the human almost looking as if she was peering through him. She waited for a moment. Hoping to creep the human out with her presence alone. Once a brief moment passwd she flew toward him with her tongue hanging out and shrieking at a disturbing pitch. “Ahhhhhahahaha!”

Elliot tilted his head as he watched the two canines try and get to the electric orb, his thoughts swirling even more inside his head. He was tempted to approach the two pokemon in hopes of trying to study the sphere himself, but he recalled that the older of the two didn't seem too happy with them being near... And he wasn't sure how well Bernadette would handle herself against the chance of fighting two electric types.

Still, he stood there and debated the risk in silence. He set his elbow in his arm and then set his chin on his hand. As Bernadette chirped, he paused to blankly stare at her. The chatot perked up as she noticed she had gotten her trainer's attention. "Eurydice. Eurydice." She chirped, making Elliot raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Um, Bernadette? Is having her out her really needed right now? I don't think-"

The man stopped as something new caught his eye. An out of place shadow on the ground... Odd, what could that be about? Elliot was about to crouch down towards the shadow until he saw a figure arise from the ground. He raised his eyebrows as a shuppet made her appearance in front of him, more intrigued than creeped out. He had been around ghosts long enough to be used to their presence, and it was actually sort of amusing to see this ghost try and creep him out. Bernadette, on the other hand, was merely squinting at the ghost while her talons gripped tightly onto her trainer's poncho.

When the shuppet tilted her head, so did Elliot. He gave his own little smile and even waved towards her. The moment passed, and the little ghost flew towards him with her tongue sticking out and a shrill shriek. The man stumbled back slightly at the sudden movement towards him, but he didn't seem fazed at the sudden screech. He took a second to regain his composure, and straightened his posture as he stared at the shuppet with a small smile.

The chatot on his shoulder seemed already sick of the ghost, now glaring at her with annoyance. "(The hell are you doing here?)" She grumbled, ruffling her feathers.

The shuppet was confused. She had used her scariest face and shriek to try and frighten the human but he had only stumbled backward. What she wanted was for him to run in terror but things didn’t go as planned. Perhaps she’d have to to try something else.

Before she could think of anything the colorful bird asked what the ghost was doing. As if it was any of her business. The shuppet was busy trying to scare the human. They were a lot more reward to frighten than pokemon. Well there were a few that were fun to scare but only the big predators. She was working her way up to that but had to start small. “Trying to scare the pants off your human, what does it look like?” the shuppet hissed.

“Maybe if I take a different approach?” she questioned herself out loud. The ghost’s eyes lit up red as she began to force an illusion onto Elliot. Only from his perspective, the young man would find himself into a dark room. There was only enough light so that he could see his surroundings.

It was just a bed and four walls. The floor below was rotting wood and the ceiling appeared to be full of cracks and decay. There was no door, no windows...no way out. The shuppet cackled to herself as she did he best to get some kind of fear out of the man.

Meanwhile, the electrike up ahead were busy chasing the ball lightning. They were eventually out of sight as Elliot was distracted with the shuppet. Bernadette was of no importance to the ghost. Unless the chator tried something, the shuppet would just ignore her.

Bernadette resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the shuppet, instead deciding to glare in her general direction. Trying to scare the human? She mumbled under her breath as she arched forwards to glare at the shuppet even more. "(It looks like you're being a total dipshit.)" She retorted, raising an eyebrow.

The chatot squinted as the ghost said her thoughts out loud, mentioning taking a different approach... Oh Arceus, what the hell was she thinking? She opened her beak to comment on the shuppet's words, but it was interrupted as she noticed eyes glowing red and felt Elliot stumble back slightly. Bernadette lifted her talons off of her trainer's poncho, flapping her wings and beginning to hover around the man. "Okay?" She chirped. There came no response from her trainer as he shook his head and rubbed his eyes.

When Elliot opened his eyes, he was alone. He couldn't see much at all, but the things he did see made him start to feel cold. He stepped back, his eyes wide as he examined the room he seemed to be in. It felt... Familiar. Too familiar. He would begin to shake as he looked around the room. It seemed empty, but... It reminded him a little too much of his old home in Ashfield. He frantically turned around, trying to at least find a door, but came no avail. He stepped back more, his limbs shaking even more intensely. For a few moments, he had completely forgotten where he was just a minute ago.

He kept turning around, as if something would pop up soon enough. His eyes were wide and his hands were gripping his shoulders. "Mom!? Are you there?" He called, letting his nails dig into his skin. He swore he could of heard the sound of chirping, but there was no reply of his mother's voice. Panic made him shake even more, and his eyes were threatening to water.

"Please! Are you there!? Mom, let me out!" He screamed, turning his head from side to side as he stumbled back even further. He felt as if the closed space was getting smaller and smaller, and he stumbled into the center of the room. He kept turning around, as if looking for a way to escape. He... He wasn't going to be left in here, right!? His mind then drifted to some of the final months he spent with his mother, where his situation had been at it's worst.

"LET ME OUT!" He suddenly screeched before falling silent. There was still no response to his yelling. The shaking man then began to tear up before slowly letting himself drift to the ground and curl up into a ball.

Bernadette felt extremely uneasy watching her trainer pace around on the earth, soon starting to scream at seemingly nothing... What was happening to him? She wasn't used to him being so panicked.

The chatot suddenly rested her scowl on the shuppet, her wings flapping more rapidly. She didn't have any doubt in her thoughts. "(What did you do to him!?)" She cawed, suddenly taking her flight over towards the ghost. She wasted no time in attacking, as she assumed defeating the stupid ghost would make Elliot return to normal. She let out a few high-pitched screeches, some hints of humans words she knew echoing through.
