Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

IC Topics

When creating a topic, please put the type of topic in the topic description, enclosed within brackets. For example, [Development] or [Social]. For example, your character's starter topic should have [Starter] in the description. This simply organizes things and helps prevent confusion. It should also be noted that to participate in a swarm, you do not need a specific Swarm thread. You can participate in a swarm in any adventure thread, as well as many quests and some events. Also, each time a topic needs a moderator's reply to advance further or when a topic needs to be closed, you will post here. Completed topics will earn your character 50 tokens, with a few exceptions; additionally, posts over 1k words will earn 10 tokens, and this can stack within a single post, meaning that a 2k post will earn 20 tokens. This bonus has a cap of +50 tokens per thread.

◒ adventure

This is the main type of topic, where most of the meat of your character's story will happen. This is also where they will catch most of their Pokemon. Travel topics and unmodded adventure topics are subsets of adventure threads. All adventures are done in a player-mod pattern, where the player controls their character and their character's Pokemon and the mod controls everything else. A character may be in up to TWO adventure topics at a time. 3/2/18 EDIT: Adventures cannot be counted as complete unless the mod gives the okay; work with the mod to wrap up the thread, rather than requesting it closed without consulting the mod.

◒ adventure - travel

A subset of adventure topics, travel topics are just what it says on the tin. They are used for traveling from one area to the next. They can only be modded by Admins or Mods. There is a higher chance of encountering NPCs or weather effects in these threads- there is also a higher chance of death if the character is unprepared, so travel wisely! Travel threads have the potential to earn more tokens- for every page past the first, an additional 15 tokens is added on to the total money earned upon completion. A character may be in only ONE travel topic at a time, and travel topics do count toward the adventure topic cap.

◒ adventure - unmodded

This type of topic is fairly self-explanatory- it is an adventure topic that isn't directed by a mod or an admin. Because of this, however, these topics have tighter restrictions and harsher gradings. Only one set of spawns will be generated per topic; spawned Pokemon cannot be higher in level than the character's highest leveled Pokemon; rare and endangered Pokemon cannot be spawned, and swarm Pokemon cannot be requested. For each Pokemon, you are only allowed two befriending/capture attempts, and as usual, staff will roll for success on these. Rather than earning a straight 50 tokens at the end, 10 tokens will be earned per 1k words, capping at 50. No bonuses for posts over 1k may be earned in unmodded adventures. A character may be in only ONE unmodded adventure at a time, and unmodded adventures do count toward the adventure topic cap.

◒ adventure - swarm

Technically this is not its own type of topic, as swarms can be requested in any modded adventure topic. At least one of the requested swarm Pokemon will appear during the course of the adventure- if it doesn't appear immediately after it is requested, don't worry, it will appear later. To request the swarm, simply state OOCly in the post that you are requesting said swarm Pokemon. Additionally, we feel the need to note that even if you create an adventure specifically for a swarm Pokemon, it is still a regular adventure thread and not a quick-and-easy, catch the target Pokemon and then you are done sort of topic. Requesting a swarm Pokemon simply guarantees that the certain Pokemon will be encountered, not that it will be successfully captured/befriended or even that it will be friendly.

◒ development

These are used to develop the trainer and/or their Pokemon. For example, it could be used to increase a Pokemon's loyalty to their trainer, or perhaps to increase the Pokemon's level. The purpose of the topic should be stated in the first post. These are typically solo topics, where the player controls not only their own character and their character's Pokemon, but the setting as well to a reasonable extent. A character may be in up to TWO development topics at a time. 8/18/17 EDIT: Token rewards will only be earned for the first six dev topics completed in a month; for any further topics, other rewards may still be earned but the usual 50 token reward for thread completion will not be earned. The exception is, if your character is working in the dev topic (ie that is a main purpose of the dev topic) they can still earn tokens from working, just not the completed topic tokens.

◒ event

Events are often plot-related and are available for most, if not all, characters. They are usually designed to keep the characters involved in the plot (and in other important, region-wide situations), and will often allow the characters to influence how the plot develops. Some event topics may be done in a player-mod pattern. Event topics vary widely, and the number that your character may be in may depend on the event itself. Before participating in an event, ensure you read the event details thoroughly!

◒ social

These are topics in which the sole goal or main goal is to interact and develop relationships with other characters. There are no limits to how many characters can be in a social topic. Social topics are typically written without mod interference. A character may be in up to FOUR social topics at a time.

◒ starter

You can begin your character's starter topic after your character has been approved. The purpose of this topic is to give your character their starter Pokemon and items, and if they are an immigrant, to pull them through the void Between Universes into Terrene. Starter topics are done in the player-mod pattern. The starter topic must be completed before you can roleplay elsewhere in Terrene. Each character will have only ONE starter topic throughout their stay here.

◒ quest

Occasionally, you may see quests posted within Terrene. Your character may take it upon themselves to complete these quests if they so desire; quests often have good rewards! Each quest will be different, so make sure you read the details thoroughly. Many, though not all, quests will be done in the player-mod pattern. A character may be in only ONE quest topic at a time.

Pokemon-Only Topics

If you ever want to write a topic without your human character- for example, an adventure topic where your character's Pokemon goes out and gets lost somewhere and has to find their way back, that is acceptable under certain conditions. There are also a number of rules and restrictions applied to Pokemon-only topics.

You can only have one Pokemon-only topic going at a time.

Pokemon-only topics DO still count toward your character's various topic caps.

Token gain cannot occur.

Limited loyalty gain can occur, but will be more difficult to obtain that usual.

Catching and befriending cannot occur.

All EXP gain decreased by 25%.

Only Pokemon over 35% loyalty can venture off on their own. The only exception to this rule is an immigrant's Starter Pokemon.

Challenges

A Challenge is a unique event where the Player takes charge of a certain situation to attempt to achieve a certain goal. For example, a mod might spawn a particularly difficult set of wild Pokemon in an unusual situation, and issue a challenge to the Player to take charge of the situation and figure out a way to solve it, giving the Player control of the wild Pokemon, NPCs, and so forth in order to accomplish the task. Challenges can also be used to make befriendings more drawn-out and realistic.

Challenges are sometimes done within an already active thread (usually a modded adventure), or the challenge could be completed in its own entire thread. This depends on what the challenge is. The mod will let you know all the details when they offer the challenge to you.

Challenges are usually proposed to the player via PM. The player does not have to accept the Challenge if they do not wish to.
