Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

This battle takes place just within Crater's outside wall, on the southwest side. It is a simple dirt road, just wide enough for an average wagon to pass through. There are houses on one side, and the wall on the other. The wall is approximately seven feet high, and the houses just a bit taller. Feel free to use your environment to your advantage. Good luck, combatants! The deadline for this round is July 1st.

Ivan

@Kaien

Ivan was anxious for his next battle. It was entertaining winning match after match in front of all these Crater citizens. They likely hated him, especially with the brand on his head and the ghost he had been using for battle. Grimm was strong for this age group of younger pokemon and it was going well for him. Since the last battle when he recalled the duskull early, he seemed pretty upset. Ivan didn't know if he'd do another battle since the ghost seemed to hold grudges.

He wanted to use another of his pokemon for this match and it was one that wasn't particulary fond of him either but she was a bit of a scrapper. He'd only let her out when it was time to battle to avoid her growing impatient and running off. Besides, it was hot out and with no water around, she could dehydrate quickly if she was just waiting around for a long time.

Round Three
The woman walked along, one hand trailing on the wall as she analyzed the... sub-par craftsmanship of it. She supposed this was likely due to inexperience of those working on it, likely spawned from the order and way things were accomplished in Crater. Their 'branded' seemed to be workers of a general variety, though some seemed to be set in their specific jobs. Still, she'd noticed that there seemed to be a presence of the greater whole working together to accomplish a goal. Still, while admirable to organize such an effort, it led to those without the skill or expertise to do the best job handling tasks that they are inadequate at.

Still, the wall wasn't her purpose. She continued on her way, having taken the slight detour in an interest of inspecting the defense more thoroughly. Much as the woman had her judgements of this city, they were perhaps the best of the four human settlements. Their organization and sense of leadership was more than could be spoken of any other place she'd been to. And, despite stating she was from the village, she'd hadn't heard much good about how things run in Forest Beach either.

Arshia turned her head as the dirt road came to the point she'd been targeting. As the crowd was gathered, spotty but definitely present more than her previous matches, she looked for her opponent. The tall, angry looking man seemed to be waiting, as if ready to get the battle started already. She looked at him, the extreme height difference between them clear as the barely 5' tall woman approached. Though her stance and posture did not falter, and his height and appearance did nothing to change her confidence movements. She approached her side of the battlefield, her left hand reaching to pull a pokeball for her chosen pokemon.

Lancet and Trocar had already given their all in previous matches. While she wouldn't have considered using Trocar this late in the tournament due to his lack of loyalty and strategic moves, it was Caliper's turn to have the spotlight. Lancet had done an excellent job in the previous fight, but it had been a very close match. Thus, allowing him to rest today was likely in her best interest. Besides, the lunatone enjoyed battling and had immense power in comparison to either of the other two. Using him for this round made the most sense in the end. As such, she activated the ball and released the pokemon, while greeting her opponent.

"Hello. I am Gem, and this is Caliper. It appears we shall be your opponents today." The man didn't have his pokemon out, but she assumed he'd already chosen his own battle partner, given how ready he looked. Still, she would wait until he released the pokemon to act, wanting this to be a fair match. Her previous opponent's unruly pokemon launched into an attack without command, and she hoped this new trainer could be held to a higher caliber than Nox had been. Nonetheless, she would find out through the tides of this match. "Shall we begin? Would you prefer to start?"

Ivan

@Kaien

Ivan watched as the woman who would be his opponent approached slowly. She was so tiny yet she walked with such confidence. It was definitely intriguing as most people who saw Ivan had signs of intimidation of the tall man. If it wasn’t enough that he towered over her, he had burn warns going from his neck down his arm. The branding on his head that labeled him as lower class and the long black hair that would occasionally cover his face when the wind blew. She didn’t seem afraid one bit.

She introduced herself as Gem and her pokemon for battle as Caliper. It was an interesting looking pokemon she had. The crescent shaped rock floating beside her. What gave it the ability to levitate as such. Magnetism or was it psychic. It was obviously of a rock typing but did it also possess electric abilities or psychic? He looked at the pokemon who seemed to have a murderous look in its eye.

The tall man grinned at Caliper. “Such a beauty,” he cooed, referring to the lunatone. His gaze shifted to the small woman after. “So tiny,” he chuckled. He soon realized he didn’t introduce himself as she did. “Right, where are my...manners?” the man spoke, saying the last word as if it was some kind of joke. “My name is Ivan, I...wish you good luck, miss.” Even with what was supposed to be polite words, they left the man’s lips menacingly.

Ivan took out his ball to release the strange blue pokemon. It was slimy with no hands. It’s wide mouth looked as if it could swallow anything and the tail it had was pretty heavy to keep it balanced from the land of arms. “This is ...my creature,” Ivan said as the wooper looked around nervously.

She wondered what she was doing out of the ball. There was no water to escape into and the dirt road made her worry all the dust would dry up her slime. The wooper looked up at the lunatone with a scowl. This thing didn’t look friendly and she had enough of ugly pokemon looking down at her like she was some kind of play thing. The ghost, the human and now this rock. It wasn’t apparent if that what was actually happening but her paranoia made it seem that way.

Once the human had backed away far enough, she immediately start attacking the lunatone, trying to show it that she was no target or victim. She’d destroy it and make a break for it. Immediately she inhaled deeply so that she could spray out her defensive acid. The move didn’t do much damage wise but it helped in weakening defenses.

Round Three

It seemed this Ivan appreciated her pokemon, but seemed to make a verbal note on her stature as compared to his. It didn't bother her, much as many things people spoke didn't. After all, it wasn't incorrect. Comparatively, she was quite small to most, this man being rather tall for most she encountered. That would influence his judgment about her size accordingly. But the way he spoke after that was... curious. His mention on manners was spoken in an almost humorous inflection. Or rather, one that indicated a moment of humor. The woman did not understand what about it was a joke, so she simply let him continue. There was no need to comment after all.

He introduced himself and wished her luck, to which she simply nodded in regard. She didn't need luck, she had strategy. Though the sentiment of good sportsmanship was not lost on her, so she chose not to comment on the note. He released a pokemon. It was small, slimy, and blue. It didn't seem as though this environment was well suited for the pokemon, but it was here to fight, not live. It was a species she hadn't encountered as of yet, which only sparked her curiosity. The crowd did not react as if to indicate it being a ghost or a demon, which meant further opportunity for information. She took mental note of physical attribute, wanting to ask about it later. The man called it his creature, and she raised an eyebrow at the phrase, though chose not to ask questions at the moment. Perhaps there would be time after to gather clarification.

Caliper looked around as they were released from the device, viewing the surrounding area. This was not like that which they'd ever seen. The tall wall that didn't make a house. The houses that were made of strange materials they weren't familiar with. It was all pretty interesting, but they were more interested in seeing how durable they could be. Though as their gaze settled, another pokemon was released nearby. Based on the people watching and their trainer looking across at the one who'd released another pokemon, they guess this was a situation where they would be able to spar.

They were touched. All they wanted was to test their force and power against others, to be the best and show it. So the human constantly bringing them out in order to battle was already a positive. Now, it seemed she'd set up an orchestrated fight for them to participate in. A human after their own heart! The humans were speaking once again, and the man across had a strange gaze to him as he looked over at them. Weird. But they shook it off, instead preparing for the battle ahead. They supposed in this sort of arrangement, it was likely expected that they need to listen to commands. Which suited them fine. It made them hold back, which made them work even harder to earn the win.

Though he was wordless, he moved out of the way, and it seemed the pokemon took that as a sign to begin the battle. It sprayed acid from its body, covering the rock in the slightly burning liquid. It edged at their hard body, trying but failing to burn it away. Still, it certainly seemed to pick away as their hard body, so that was something to consider. But the lunatone was plased to get the battle underway. They focused their energy, psychic power manifesting into impressions in the air. They collected, slightly distoring the air around them before crashing in towards the wooper to strike.

@Kaien

The creature was glad to have landed her attack. The acid was her favorite move to use and she hoped it would take a toll on the rock monster. The lunatone didn't see all that affected by it. If it was then it surely didn't show it. It seemed to be readying itself for an attack but the blue fish had no idea what they were doing.

Suddenly there were odd formations materializing around the wooper like shards. She felt surrounded and saw no way to escape. Perhaps if she were in water, she could manuver out of the way but the shards all darted for her, impacting every inch of her body. Suddenly the shards were gone as if they never existed. It was some kind of psychic energy that was focused into an attack.

Not wanting to wait by for another psychic shock, the wooper sprang forward, shooting a jet of water at Caliper. If she knew anything it was that rocks hated water.

Round Three

The wooper seemed to be surprised by the unexpected attack. Caliper found that curious and somewhat enjoyable. It was pretty entertaining to catch an opponent off guard with a superior attack. The psychic strike hit its mark, and the pokemon seemed to take damage. Though the acid had burned at them, they got the feeling that their move had been more effective. Perhaps that was a bit overconfidence. They shouldn't underestimate this creature, but the psyshock was one of its most powerful moves after all. Not the absolute strongest, but they were saving that in their arsenal of attack. While it was a wonderful and flashy way to open, they didn't want to get too exhausted right off the bat. Not until they were more aware of just how difficult this opponent was. They hoped it was super difficult!!

Arshia saw the exchange, weighing what had happened. The acid seemed more tactical than pure power, so she chose to be wary. Though the lunatone didn't seem to be too bothered by the attack, she had a feeling there was more to it than that. Still, they needed to continue. The creature wasted no time in retaliating however, releasing an attack quickly. And one that they should certainly be worried. "Caliper, out of the way and follow with confusion." Though she spoke quickly, her voice was level and calm as ever. She was not panicked, nor scared, but immediate action was needed if the pokemon was to avoid the attack. Water was an element that worked against the floating creature, and thus a dangerous thing to be struck with. She watched to see if they would be successful.

The lunatone heard the command and, in the moment, decided to listen. There were some spare times when they chose their own course of action when it was disagreed on how to handle a battle. But, the meteorite had no interest in being knocked out of this battle so quickly. So, they rolled their body, arcing and moving out of the way from the powerful spray of water. It crashed into the wall of the building, and the strength of it made them feel glad they hadn't been the target. It already would have been powerful against them, but that force was even stronger than they'd normally seen unleashed from such a move. Wow. This was clearly a foe worthy of their time in battle. And that only increased their eagerness.

Following the next order as they studied the creature, they focused their psychic energies once more. The force was collected, and pressed in on the wooper's form. It attempted to crash and cause confusion within the pokemon's mind, but if it was careful then it could get out of the way from the attack altogether. The attack not having color or a physical form made it difficult however, a fact they took delight in. Gem on the other hand was pleased to see they'd avoided the attack, unknowingly coming to much the same conclusion as the pokemon. With the next attack being launched at their target, she kept a careful eye on the both of them to see how this would progress. Given the last match, she felt the need to monitor the opponent's battler for signs they might attack her directly instead of her chosen fighter.

@Kaien

The creature was furious as her water gun was dodged. How could she miss? She freaking out in her thought. The lunatone was too pig of a target to have missed. Either way she was going to have to continue the fight.

Suddenly woope felt a heavy force on her mind. Things were getting shaky and she couldn't really focus on the area around her. Colors were shifting and sounds were beginning to distort. The wooper was struggling to lock its focus onto the lunatone but she had to do something.

She began firing off her water gun frantically. The wooper needed to stop this moon rock from doing whatever it was doing to her mind. With the confusion, she couldn't tell if she had hit it or not. So she fired off another jet of water.

Round Three

The lunatone was pleased to see their attackk having such an effect on the pokemon. It was easy to see in her expression that she was feeling the effects of the confusion that sometimes accompanied that attack, which made the battle tougher for them. But the more they had to fight through their clouded mind, the more a pokemon would learn about battle and themselves. Though perhaps the meteorite was getting a little overconfident, simply watching as they waited to see what she would do next. They wanted this battle to last long.

Unfortunately neither they nor the woman would get their wish for this battle. The pokemon fired off two water gun attacks, the heavy jets of water shooting off and striking Caliper with considerable force. Arshia was slightly impressed that such a young pokemon was able to use that attack in such quick succession, though perhaps it could be credited to reckless. The creature didn't seem to be of a calm mind at the moment, so she may have just been flailing about hoping for the best. And the best came. Both strikes wailed into the moon pokemon, and their levitation stopped as the damage took hold, the pokemon falling towards the ground.

With a deft movement and quick reflexes, Arshia returned the pokemon to their ball, realizing that they were no longer able to fight. Disappointing really, though there was nothing to be done about it. The pokemon was naturally weak to water attacks, so this pokemon having a water attack already meant they hadn't been likely to win in the first place. Still, it was valuable experience, and she was pleased to have at least made it to this round in the tournament. Being in the final four had been her goal after all, to make sure her name would be remembered instead of lost from the 16 entrants in this lower tier alone.

Turning her gaze to the creature, and then the man, she spoke. "Well fought. It seems we must concede victory today." No matter his presence, no matter how uncomfortable others seemed to be from the man winning, or perhaps just being here, she stood straight and confident. The woman was willing to admit when she lost, and had no negative feelings about it. This just showed that Caliper still required much training if they were to become stronger, and able to overcome this unfortunate typing weakness. However that would wait for another time.

She paid closer attention to the man now, to make a point of remembering his features. They were definitely not like many she saw around, and he certainly didn't keep an approachable demeanor about him. Not that she was the type to care about such trivial things, but it was worth noting. There was also the brand upon his forhead, marking him as an immigrant who'd appeared here in Crater City. "I must ask, where did you find this creature?" She hadn't seen this kind before, but she would make a point to find information on it if possible. She was curious as to the pokemon that had beaten Caliper in one-on-one combat so easily, after all.

Ivan

@Kaien

Ivan couldn't help but grin as the lunatone was defeated. He didn't even have to do any commanding. He knew how much the wooper hated scary looking creatures. She was afraid of them but often fought till she could flee. It was fortunate for her this was one of those times. There was a sliver of doubt that she would make it.

The woman returned her pokemon, realizing it wouldn't survive another attack from the wooper. Ivan pulled out his pokeball and did the same for Creature. The blue fish was just relieved to be done with the fight. She was getting a headache from all the confusion.

Ivan watched as the woman approached him. He was sure she was going to give him a stern talking to but it appeared she only wanted to admit defeat, respectably. His grin faded as he watched with a curious brow. "The pleasure was all mine," he said nonchalantly. Not really meaning what he said but felt it was an appropriate response.

It was a bit disappointing that she didn't have much of a reaction to losing and quite honestly intriguing. People like this were interesting to Ivan. Those who didn't seem phased by much. It sort of became an instinct for him to push those kind of people into showing some kind of emotion. She didn't seem afraid of him at all.

Heading the tiny woman as him about the wooper, he rolled his eyes over. Not because he was annoyed, but because he was thinking back to when he had found the fish. Ivan cared so little such details but since it wasn't that long ago he could recall just fine. "Found her in a stream in the plains. She stole a kill. I stole her freedom," he chuckled lightly.

"You don't seem the type who battles for glory. What are you doing in a competition like this?" he asked.

Round Three

Listening as he informed her about where he'd found the creature, she took a mental note. Well, if it was one that tended to fresh in-land water, that would certainly explain why she'd never seen one out in Oasis before. It was dry with only the salted water of the sea to provide any sort of relief. And creatures that lived there were certainly separate from those who lived in the more fresh water, or so she'd read. She hadn't had the chance to experience a source of fresh water yet. Something she sought to correct very soon by starting to travel away from the village for her research.

That stated, the man continued to ask her a question which she found curious. His note on her not being the type to seek glory was rather correct. She was here for the sake of giving her pokemon valuable experience, as well as getting her name and features known to more around her. She wanted her presence to be known more, so that she could network and gain more allies towards her future goals. She needed to learn much more and find allies to her cause before any sort of real action could take place. The people of Terrene weren't known for their intelligence nor willingness to do what was orderly.

"I came for the opportunity and experience. The chance to push my pokemon against those of equal or higher experience so they could learn, and so that I could gain more knowledge on battling and creatures. I'm a doctor and scientist, so this was simply an opportunity I couldn't pass up." She gave her answer, curious as to what had drawn his attention. He didn't seem the type to be a fellow scholar, which simply made her more curious. "Were you drawn here for glory? Or perhaps you had another reason as well?" Some of those she'd seen simply seemed to be fighting for... rather simple, unconvincing reasons. She hoped someone who made it this far had more purpose than that.
