Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

This battle is taking place south of Crater, in the Lion's Plains. The grass is green and tall, a warm wind is blowing, and the wild Pokemon have been shooed away, leaving the area empty and ripe for a fair, uninterrupted battle. Feel free to use your environment to your advantage. Good luck, combatants! The deadline for this round is June 13th.

"Damn, this is a weird place. Where is the forest?"

A woman stood over the grass, looking out into the field. Her long hair was swaying in the light breeze, which she seemed to be a little ticked off by. She constantly was pulling her bangs from her eyes, the action increasingly getting more harsh as it continued. She kept looking over over the area with her working eye, as if waiting for several trees to pop out of the ground.

It was highly uncomfortable being right out in the open, being a hunter and overall antisocial person. She wanted a tree to hide in, damn it. Trees at least had shade for this stupid heat. Dawn growled and sighed as she paced around in the tall grass, waiting for her opponent to show up. Where the hell were they, anyways? Probably too busy sleeping to get off their lazy asses. The woman rolled her eye, and suddenly glanced down at her feet.

Where was Kid!? Dawn's eye widened and she briefly went into a moment of panic. She jumped up, and frantically looked around for the small bidoof. It only took the small squeak of the rodent to calm her down. When she looked down, she could see Kid brushing up against her ankles. He was hardly visible in the tall grass.

The woman took a deep breath, and reached down to pick up the runty rodent. Once Kid was safely in her arms, she finally seemed to look at peace. Dawn sighed, and looked around. Her opponent still wasn't here, goddamnit. The woman set her bidoof on her shoulder, and then her hand on her waist. She looked around with narrowed eyes, waiting for them to appear.

Nox
Nox was (and always had been, though he wouldn't remember) an early riser. And since he'd been up early, he'd taken some time to check out part of Crater City since this was his first time there. He hadn't had much time to explore fully because his tournament battle was supposed to start soon. He'd been hoping to use the tournament to work with Angel a little in a more controlled environment but, when he'd signed up and had his pokemon checked over to ensure they were eligible to participate, he'd been informed that she was too young. Which left him with Azura and the Drifloon he adamantly refused to give a name to. So unless he found himself with no choice but to use Drifloon, it looked like Azura would be his primary battler.

He'd been told his first battle would take place out on the plains and when the time was getting closer, he headed for the plains. The area where the battle was to take place was easy to find. There was an official looking person standing off to one side and several others patrolling the area with their pokemon to ensure that no wild ones would get in the way. A woman stood somewhere toward the middle of the perimeter. As he drew nearer, he could tell that she looked annoyed and he wondered why. He wasn't late or anything, as far as he was aware.

He was given a brief rundown of the rules before being directed to a position opposite the woman and told that the battle could commence whenever both participants were ready. He guessed that the brown pokmeon sitting on the woman's shoulder would be her choice. Unfortunately, he wasn't familiar with what type the pokemon was and had no idea if Azura would be at a disadvantage or not. Still, he couldn't back out and he honestly didn't want to. So he withdrew Azura's pokeball and released her into the grass. She sneezed and held herself up as high as she could to try and see over the gently waving blades to no avail. This was not going to be fun. if she couldn't see her opponent how was she supposed to fight it?

@Sev

While she was waiting, Dawn was spoken to by some official-looking dude and given a brief rundown of rules. Although the woman did not seem too thrilled with listening. Her expression was dull and up in the clouds as the rules were explained. Yeah, no killing, no attacking bystanders, no fun. Got it.

When Nox finally arrived, Dawn didn't really know what to think. He seemed like one of those emotionally deprived prick, ugh. Hopefully not, she was sick of those by now. She merely stared at him, and raised an eyebrow. She tried to smile, and although it seemed warm, her eyes told a different story.

The woman was taken to a spot opposite of her opponent, where she just eyed him with narrowed eyes. She watched as a pokeball was withdrawn and a pokemon was released. She couldn't exactly tell what it was, though, as the grass was hiding most of the popplio's visibility.

Well, the battle could start anytime. Before Dawn set down her pokemon, she gave the rodent a little scratch on the chin. "Okay, Kid. Go beat their asses." She murmured, a genuinely pleased expression on her face. Kid was then set into the grass, where he struggled to see over how tall it was.

The bidoof squeaked in confusion. He had honestly no idea of what was happening or what to do. He looked around in the grass. Wait, did Dawn want him to fight? Aw, what if he failed? The thought of letting his team down burned in his mind, and he started to shuffle through the grass.

He just had to find his opponent, right..? Discomfort settled in his stomach with each step. He didn't want to fight. He wasn't any good at it. Still, maybe this will please the human. She always said she wanted him to get stronger, anyways.

When the popplio came into the rodent's line of vision, he flinched up in panic. Um, what was he supposed to do now? Hesitantly, Kid rushed up to the seal, and tried to knock into her with his head.

Nox
His opponent didn't exactly seem overly friendly and Nox wondered if it was just because of the battle or simply the way she was. It probably didn't help that he hadn't introduced himself or anything of the sort. But given the frosty look he got before the attempt at a friendly smile he figured it wouldn't do any good to try and be friendly and polite now. As expected, the furry little creature on the woman's shoulder was going to be Azura's opponent. Both pokemon were nearly invisible in the long grass and Nox frowned. This was going to be a challenge for Azura. Not only was she unable to move well on land, she couldn't even see her opponent unless it was standing right in front of her.

Which, as it turned out, happened just a moment after that through crossed his mind. The rodent, whatever it was, emerged from the grass and flinched at seeing Azura. Was it young? Was this it's first battle? Or had it just not expected to see her there? Either way, it recovered quickly and rushed at her in an attempt to tackle the Popplio. Azura, unable to even try and get out of the way at such a short distance, braced herself for the impact and let the Bidoof slam into her. "Hang in there Azura. You got this. Hit it back with Water Gun." Nox spoke and, though Azura didn't understand everything, she knew what he was asking her to do. Once she'd recovered from the hit, she sent a blast of water in the rodent's direction.

Kid let out a soft cry of shock as his attempts at attacking were countered with a forceful shot of water. The little bidoof rolled backwards into the grass. He laid there for a second, and sneezed at the tall grass brushing his nose.

Dawn smiled in pride as she assumed that her prized child had managed an attack. She couldn't see well in the grass, but it sounded like it did. Her bright expression snapped a bit as she saw a shot of water run across the grass. Both the sight and Kid's cry made her shiver subtly.

No, no. Get over it. She'd ruin this for Kid if she fucked up now. Still, her bright expression didn't return. "Kid, you alright?"

A squeak from the rodent made her sigh in relief. Yes, if course he was alright. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be the only thing injured for long. She nodded, and called out to her bidoof again. "Okay, good! Try attacking again!"

At his trainer's command, Kid shook his head and bounced up again. He started charging over to where he had rolled from, although clearly hesitant. Once he found the seal again, he tried to not flinch up again and kept charging.

Nox
Azura's water gun knocked the furry rodent away from her and she lost sight of it again. It couldn't have gone far and she needed to be ready. A squeak and the rustle in the grasses gave her an idea of where it was and she considered trying to move to the side but her flippers and tail were not made for movement on land. She wouldn't get far and the more mobile creature would easily be able to catch up to her even if she did try to move. So she stayed put and braced herself for whatever attack the creature was going to make.

As soon as the rodent to appeared, Nox knew Azura was going to let herself be hit. But he also knew she felt confident being somewhat reckless because she knew she could heal herself. He'd seen her do it before but he still worried. "Be careful, Azura. Get ready to strike back when it's in range again.." Azura didn't respond though he knew she heard him. As the brown rodent crashed into her, she let loose a soft cry that, To Nox's eyes, seemed to appear as a shimmering wave directed at the attacking rodent. He wasn't familiar with the move, he'd never seen Azura use it before, and decided he needed to ask someone if they knew what she'd done.

Azura was sore after two hits and knew she wouldn't be able to take much more. Without being asked, she gathered up enough energy to form a shimmering ring of mist around herself. The mist helped her feel refreshed and less sore but she was getting awfully tired. Straining to see in the grass and battling in the warmth of the sun and breeze was taking a toll on the water type. But she wouldn't give up yet. Even Nox could tell she was getting worn out. "Hang in there, Azura. You're doing great. Just a bit longer and you'll get a good rest." He wasn't sure how much longer she could keep battling and he considered withdrawing her from the match. He decided against recalling her just then, deciding to let her continue, though he wasn't going to let her keep fighting for much longer.

Kid didn't exactly expect the cries from the popplio to take a toll on him. The small rodent took a sharp inhale as the cry rang through his ears. A few steps backwards were taken, and he shuddered.

A familiar call mixed in with the seal's. Dawn's voice, although distant, was clear. "Come on! You can do it!"

Kid winced, and opened his eyes. He gazed at the water pokemon, and noticed the faint mist. He had no idea what it was, but it probably wouldn't benefit him. The bidoof glanced to the ground, where the grass was painted dark in the water from the former attack. Maybe he could try... Mama always tried to teach him how to use the move properly, and he could probably use it even after all this time.

He took a deep breath, and tried to summon the water from the ground. Although it wasn't exactly a large wave, a good portion of water now floated lightly behind him. The small pokemon took a running start towards the popplio, and leapt. While he was in the air, he tried to hit Azura with the line of water trailing behind him.

Dawn was still shaking slightly, probably even less subtle now that she saw Kid followed by a bunch of water. Was the other pokemon attacking him again? The woman gritted her teeth against each other as she watched. Please for the love of Arceus let her Kid be okay.

Hopefully he could pull through. He was strong and capable, just like any other pokemon. He can win this.

Nox
Attacking a water type pokemon with a water type move was, perhaps, not the smartest thing the little brown rodent could have done. Still, Nox could see that the hit had taken a toll on Azura. Though the shimmering mist helped ease some of the soreness from being attacked he could tell she was getting tired. The brown pokemon looked equally as tired, however, and it didn't have the benefit of self-healing as far as he could tell. He didn't want Azura to hurt the other pokemon, but the battle was supposed to go until one of the pokemon could no longer fight. But how much more could the little guy take before Azura unintentionally hurt him?

"Alright, Azura. One more time. But remember we're not here to hurt anyone." He wasn't sure how much of his words Azura understood but he saw her tense and send another blast of water at the brown pokemon.
