Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

This battle is taking place west of Crater, right on the edge of the Rolling Mountains. It is a small hill, with a gradual ascent. The ground isn't particularly flat or smooth anywhere, so watch your step. Feel free to use your environment to your advantage. Good luck, combatants! The deadline for this round is June 13th.

Paul hummed softly as he found his way to the small, grassy hill. It was a warm midsummer's day, and he sorely wished he was assigned to one of the battlefields near the sandy bay so he could sneak off to do some swimming. Hopefully, the battle wouldn't last too long and he'd have a chance to streak out to the sea once it was over.

The grass danced cheerfully in the breeze, but it was not a cooling, refreshing breeze; it was hot and oppressive. He sighed longingly and stepped daintily over another lump of fluffy grass. His eyes were glazed as he scrambled up the grassy mountain. Ropes of dense vegetation gripped his shoes and flickered around the jacket he carried folded in his arms, tasting the leather and trying to bite off the shiny brass buttons. With a mild panic, he hurried on, before finally reaching the top of the hill. He gave a sigh of relief, glancing behind him to see that the snakes had turned back into grass.

Paul readjusted the jacket, making sure there were no stray bits or bugs clinging to it. As he waited for his opponent, he smoothed out every crease fastidiously and breathed in another lungful of that scorching midsummer breeze.

Ivan

@Rixie

It was only Electrike and Makuhita who decided to race up the grassy hill. Rattata was in her ball and Grimm was casually floating behind. He saw no reason to reach the top so quickly. Ivan was somewhere in the middle of the pokemon in distance. He wasn’t sure if his opponent was going to be at the location first or not but he didn’t see a point in rushing. It wasn’t as if they’d battle themselves if he was late.

As the green pup made it to the top first, the yellow fighter seemed to be a bit upset that she fell behind. She was the one who trained the most so she didn’t understand how a little pup could beat her. Perhaps it was the fact that she had four legs and the fighter carried a lot of weight. It didn’t matter in the end. The makuhita could still knock out the pup in one punch if she wanted to. She did want to.

The pup watched gleefully as Ivan made his way up the hill to meet her. The makuhita rested at the top beside the electrike, wanting to do no more walking. If she was going to get up at this point it was going to be for a fight. Ivan had thought about who he was going to use for this and it really came down to the makuhita or the duskull. They were the strongest on his team and the others were likely incapable. He was mostly concerned that the pup would lose him the match due to her lack of abilities while rattata was likely too lazy.

Spotting a man nearby, Ivan narrowed his eyes. The man had long blonde hair wrapped in a ponytail and wore a brown jacket with brass buttons. It was a nice jacket. Perhaps Ivan would take it should the man lose the fight. It would be a good prize for him to fork over. If not then the man didn’t see anyone else around to stop him from ripping it off the blonde’s body. Ivan had a mental cackle to himself. No, he wasn’t going to kill the man for a jacket but it sure was fun to think about it.

Walking over to the stranger with his pokemon following behind, Ivan stood a few feet from the blonde. “Waiting for me?” he asked with a menacing smirk on his face.

Ivan vs Paul

The creepy grin sent a wave of chills through Paul's body and he gulped as he met the other man's green eyes. Something was wrong with him. Something was very wrong with him. Paul's eyes flickered along the immensely tall man's body, taking in the dark clothes, the burn on his neck, the black hair, the brand on his forehead.

"Seems so," he nodded, lowering his head somewhat in an instinctive motion, though his eyes still worked every inch of the man's form, memorizing, calculating, judging. It was hard to see much of it under the rather dark clothes, but it didn't matter too much. This was hopefully just going to be a quick battle, and then he'd never have to see the other, foreboding man again.

Paul let out a long, drawn-out breath and tossed Melete's shiny pokeball into the air and the bird fluttered into existence. Melete eyed the ghost that floated eerily in the air. "This is foreboding. You should forfeit," warned the spirit in his mind. Melete retorted out loud, "Shush. It's an experience, win or lose." The spirit was silent in response, and Melete nervously returned his attention to the Duskull.

Paul took a few even breaths to quell the darkness that was swallowing up the corners of his vision. "Very well. When you're ready then, Melete. Peck it until you can't!"

Feeling a tremor in his mind, but unsure of whether it came from his own consciousness or that of his ghost symbiont's, Melete launched towards the Duskull with a flapping of his wings, aiming to stab it in the red glowing eye with his long beak.

Ivan

@Rixie

After taking a moment to observe the man, it seemed his opponent was ready to battle. Ivan was prepared to battle immediately and get through with this. He didn’t know what pokemon to expect but whatever this blonde chose, the tall man was going to use his duskull. The ghost wasn’t invincible but he did well against most encounters he’d come across.

Putting some distance between himself and the man, Ivan stood by the duskull who was waiting to see what would happen. The man gestured for the ghost to enter the battlefield. Grimm didn’t like being commanded but he was not going to turn down a chance to harm another. Floating toward Paul, he watched as the man chose his pokemon.

It was a purple bird with strangely shaped wings. It looked silly in his opinion and he honestly wanted to rip those feathers that poked from the top of the bird’s head. Something else that was odd was that the oricorio wasn’t just a flying type, but it was a ghost. The duskull could sense that it was a spirit like him and hopefully that would make it a challenge.

Paul made the first move, commanding Melete to charge in for a peck barrage. Ghost was pretty slow and not expecting the bird to attack so quickly. Typically pokemon he encountered were scared of him and hesitated. Not this one, however. Taking a direct hit from the bird to the face, the spirit had bent backwards, still floating in the air.

There was a brief moment of stillness before the ghost slowly bent his form back into position to reveal the mask hanging slightly from position. The light was absent but one could still feel the duskull’s glare. “Oh, excuse me a moment,” Grimm, said nonchalantly as as he adjusted the mask back into place. Once corrected, the duskull’s light shined brightly again from behind his skull mask.

Flashing the red light at the oricorio, he used disable to prevent the bird from poking him again. He’d never admit it but that really did hurt and he could swear the bird left a permanent mark. Once the peck attack was disabled, Grimm gathered dark energy and released it in a pulse that shot toward Melete.

Ivan vs Paul

Melete stared, horrified, as the ghost righted his mask. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, to be honest, but it probably wasn't that. He was still wondering about the nature of the ghost under its cloak and mask when as harsh red light suddenly flashed before his eyes. He squawked in alarm and instinctively beat his wings, escaping a few feet away to try to assess what damage had been done.

He did not need to do worry about it for long though. A sudden rush of painful, dark energy washed over Melete and he winced in pain. It was horrific, as though his very soul was being shredded apart by an unknown, but decidedly demonic, creature.

H-He's strong for such a young ghost. You must retreat. I, or rather, we... can't take another hit like that.

Melete stared in disbelief at the ghost type Pokemon. Really? Was that it? I've got to try at least a bit... I want to grow stronger! He summoned up his resolve and moved to perform Peck once again, starting to run towards the ghost that floated eerily, only to stumble and falter when he realized with a shock that... he couldn't. For whatever reason, he simply... couldn't. What was this bizarre sensation? He couldn't even move, it seemed.

Paul's breath hitched and he knew immediately that Melete had lost. The attack had taken a lot of out his companion, and with whatever paralyzation was currently seizing hold of him, there was no way he could win. "Return, Melete!" he called out, straightening his arm and pointing the pokeball at his bird. Without a protest, Melete closed his eyes and vanished.

Paul stared at Ivan and spoke curtly, just two words, "Good match." He was still honestly a bit frightened of the man, and didn't particularly want to be around for long. He gripped his belongings tightly and headed down the slope.
