Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

It's the most wonderful
time of the year- meaning, the time of Delibird gifts and of winter festivals! And as always, our plot events are still going strong.

Season

winter will be here until
March. Aside from the western Great Forest, which is too warm, and the Desert Strip, which is too dry, snow begins to fall across the region. The chill of the season has just about every area firmly in its grasp. Ice and Dark types become more common as the temperature drops and the daylight fades.

The word about the Winter Festival in Crater City spread fast even among rather newly arrived immigrants like Sonia. When she got to Crater, she hardly considered herself that much of a fresh arrival anymore, but she was sill longing for a cheerful occasion - the everyday struggle of trying to survive didn't quite put her in a jolly mood. She couldn't wait for the Winter Festival.

As the brunette stepped into the fair area, she took a deep breathe of the chilly air. A thin layer of snow had been cracking under her feet as she walked, most of it had been shoveled to the sides. It was still morning, the sun was still shining and people were gathering at the event area. A satisfied smile appeared on Sonia's face, below her rosy cheeks. She loved the peaceful atmosphere, away from the dangerous wilds of Terrene.

She couldn't help but notice her Pokémon's interest in the snow. Kaname was stepping lightly, grimacing at the cold carpet of white. He wasn't appreciating it and started to envy Sonia for having boots. Bebe, on the other hand, was in the merriest of moods. She had never seen snow before and she loved it. Sonia was letting her walk around freely and the Rattata went ahead to play, digging in the snow, brushing it with her tail and even drawing unreadable shapes in it.

"You two seem to be enjoying this. Isn't this place the prettiest?" Sonia asked cheerfully, patting Kaname's head. The Sylveon was standing uncomfortably, unwilling to sit down on the cold ground. Meanwhile, the Rattata was digging in a mound of snow. The trainer grinned, quietly approaching her. "It's funny, I don't remember much of my homeland, but I'm sure I've seen snow before. And you know what you can do with snow, Bebe?"

The Rattata stopped her important task to look up at Sonia as she heard her name. The woman grabbed a handful of snow, grateful for her woolen gloves, and carefully put together a ball. The rat's eyes sparkled with curiosity as the trainer aimed and tossed it at a tree a few meters away from them. Eager to try, Bebe scooped a tiny bit of snow with her paws, trying to mimic Sonia, and then tried to sweep her attempt at a snowball towards Kaname. But the tiny rat hands weren't the most skilled at building and the snowball felt apart immediately, only a piece of the snowy mess reaching the Sylveon's side. He jumped in surprise as his two companions giggled. Kaname shivered as he glared at Bebe, identifying her as the culprit.

"Oh, I see, so this is how you want it, Bebe," despite his discomfort, he put on a smile as he spoke with a playful tone. One couldn't stay mad at the tiny Pokémon. One of his ribbons dug into the snow mound, before he pushed it down towards the Rattata. Bebe squeaked and ran off, heading towards another gathering of snow. It was war time! She began kicking snow towards Kaname, who counterattacked immediately.

"Well, this isn't much of a snow ball fight," Sonia commented to herself, stepping back to let the two Pokémon play.

Kaname
Snowball...
Bebe
... fight!

Cecilia had finally made it to Crater City. She's hitched a ride with a group of other travelers from Forest Beach Village who were coming for the Winter Festival in order to save on travel time and supplies. As usual, the other villagers had kindly ensured that Cecilia had appropriate clothes for the occasion. She was gradually finding her own place in the village and learning to contribute in simple ways. She was proudly packing a cold-weather arsenal that consisted of a hat, scarf, and mitten set that she'd managed to knit herself. They looked abnormally lumpy, betraying the inexperience of the crafter, but they served their function perfectly well. The coat had been a hand-me-down and was a touch too small for the long-legged and broad-shouldered Cecilia, but she couldn't exactly complain about a free coat.

The city itself was beautiful. White snow glistened off the overlooking hills and the town was decorated with bells and merry red ribbons. It all felt strangely nostalgic, and she wondered if a place like this had existed once in her previous world and life. The city was much more cramped and crowded than Forest Beach Village was, however. Even though everyone seemed jolly enough, there was a coldness to the solid brick buildings.

Vendors all over were selling delicious bits of holiday food. Cecilia made a small meal of the free samples they were giving out, making an effort to try everything and sharing it all with her Mr. Mime. Of Cecilia's pokemon, Sugar was the only one who didn't mind the cold. If anything, Sugar was having the time of her life. The empathetic fairy side of her brain couldn't get enough of this joyous atmosphere. Cecilia led the little clown pokemon by the hand both to keep her from wandering off and to prevent her from getting over-excited and creating unwanted barriers everywhere. The last thing they wanted was to make a big scene here at the festival. Cecilia hadn't met the man yet, but she'd heard that the fellow who ran this place was a big stickler for law and order. He didn't sound like the sort to easily forgive naughty pokemon behavior at his carefully planned celebration.

Having no particular place to go, Cecilia allowed Sugar to lead the way. She smiled patiently at the pokemon's euphoric face as she practically skilled through the fair, following the feelings of fun and good cheer. Eventually, these feelings led Sugar to a young woman and her two pokemon. The seemed to be playing in the snow, and Sugar tugged insistently on Cecilia's hand to indicate that they should join as well.

Cecilia stopped for a moment as she recognized the girl. She's seen this girl and her pretty pink and white pokemon at the Anniversary Fair. It had been brief as they'd been attacked by some disruptive insects, and Cecilia had never learned the girl's name. Maybe this time they'd have more time to become acquainted. It would be polite to say "hello" but it seemed like this occasion called for a little less formality and a little more throwing snow.

Grinning mischievously to herself, Cecilia crouched down and formed a ball of snow with her mittened hands. "Sugar, come and help me. Do just like I do, okay?" Cecilia whispered to her pokemon. Sugar was the most intelligent of Cece's group and had a rather good grasp of human speech and behavior. Her telepathy and empathy were still developing and she was still quite young. Even so, it didn't take much to recognize what the playful glint in her trainer's eyes must mean. Obediently, Sugar bend and easily formed a ball of snow in her large hands.

Thus armed, Cecilia and her pokemon took aim. There wasn't much as far as cover in the open field of snow, but the other trainer looked distracted and would hopefully be surprised. "You go for the pokemon, okay?" Cecilia whispered, pointing out the Sylveon and the Rattata tossing snow about nearby. "Let's teach them how it's done!" Sugar snickered, feeling her trainer's eagerness as if it were her own. "Now, Sugar! Attack!"

And with this war-cry, snowballs flew through the air towards Sonia and Kaname.

Distracted by the endearing display of her own Pokémon, Sonia wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings. It was amusing to see that even Kaname, who was normally serious and sophisticated, allowed himself some jolly playtime. Surely, he was doing it for Bebe's sake. Still, neither of her Pokémon could actually form a decent snowball, so they just continued kicking snow at each other. Sonia decided not to join in and let them have their fun.

She was completely off guard. When an actual decent-quality snowball came flying her way, she didn't notice it, only it crushed into her white woolen jacket. The woman jumped in shock. She was under attack! She spun around and located her attackers - another woman and a humanoid Pokémon by her side, both smiling mischievously. Sonia returned the grin. Finally a worthy challenger has appeared!

The brunette retreated to find safety behind a snow mound. As she crouched down to avoid more shots, she found herself reunited with her Pokémon - the sudden snowball assault had caught them as well. Bebe was a harder target due to her size, but Kaname must had gotten hit - Sonia could see it both from the snow leftovers all over him, as well as his focused expression. Good. Just like her, he was determined to get revenge.

"This isn't over! Prepare yourselves!" Sonia called out dramatically, grabbing a handful of the omnipresent white ammunition. Kaname followed her example, trying hard to build a ball with the use of his ribbons... but the cold touch was getting to him. He groaned, building another messy shape. He stared at it with confusion. Building was one thing, but how was he supposed to throw it? His feelers weren't the most dexterous.

"I've got this! Kaname, you build more. I throw. Bebe..." Sonia turned to her small assistant, whose tail was swiping left and right in excitement. "Bebe... Go distract them!"

The Rattata waited no further. She jumped out of their hideout, landing in the open, vulnerable to more snowball hits. But she wasn't just going to stand there! She ran around, making the best use of her speed and size, hoping to confuse the opponents and have them throw snowballs at her - and that she could dodge whatever comes at her.

Following that, Sonia stood up and emerged from her safe haven, with snowballs in her hands. It was a time-sensitive strategy. She couldn't delay. Without much time to take proper aim, she began tossing them in the general direction of the other woman and her Mr. Mime, while Kaname continued working on the war supplies.

As she finally took a bit of a glance at the attackers, Sonia had a feeling that she had seen that other trainer somewhere... But this was not the time to worry about. This was war!

Hands would be really helpful here...

The younger woman took cover behind a large mound of snow, and Cecilia and Sugar took the opportunity to fire a few free shots at the wily little rattata. Still, Cece couldn't help feeling that this was a sort of trap. What was the girl and her sylveon doing while they were hiding?

The answer was soon made apparent as Sonia came out, fully loaded with ammunition and began relentlessly peppering them at Cecilia and her pokemon. "Ah!" Cecilia cried out, her yell muffled by a mouthful of snow. "Miiiime!" Sugar was similarly distressed as the snowballs rained down on them like a soft white fury attack.

It was really just instinct that made Cecilia hold up her hands palms out but Sugar saw and responded to the visual cue even without her trainer giving a verbal command. The psychic fairy furrowed her brow in concentration and did the same, but she made the tips of her fingers vibrate to solidify the air directly in front of herself and her trainer. She was using her Barrier attack to shield them from oncoming onslaught. The last of Sonia's snowballs smashed harmlessly against the invisible wall.

"Ha!" Cecilia said, spitting out snow and standing victoriously with her hands on her hips. "Do your worst! My Sugar loves doing this trick!" She was purposely trying to provoke them. The barrier would shield her and her pokemon for a bit. The barrier would eventually be overcome with enough force or when Sugar became distracted or tired of holding it. It would, however, buy Cecilia time to build and store up ammunition as Sonia had done. The downside was that the barrier worked both ways. Cecilia would need Sugar to drop it if she wanted to attack from where she was. Her hope was that Sonia and her team would waste time being confused and trying to find a way around the barrier, leaving them open and unaware whenever Cecilia and Sugar were ready to resume their attack.

Bebe was hoping to avoid any attacks, but even her tiny size and high speed, seemingly perfect for dodging, were not enough to keep her safe from the snowball rain. A few of the bullets tossed by the other woman and her Mr. Mime crashed into the Rattata, stunning her each time and even sending her rolling back once - she wasn't much bigger than an average snowball, after all. But she tried her best not to give up and continued zigzagging, even if the taken damage had slowed her down.

Regardless of how Bebe was doing, the distraction was successful. Sonia was more than happy to start her own snowball storm, quickly fixing each piece of ammunition that had been sloppily put together by Kaname. The Sylveon continued his thankless task, humming with frustration when the snowballs fell apart now and then, but not saying anything. He could sense that Sonia was having fun and that lifted his spirits up as well.

The brunette's expression froze in surprise when some of her last snowballs stopped and fell apart before reaching their targets. As if there was some invisible wall separating them. Was it the Pokémon's doing? According to the taunt, it was, but how did it work exactly? With a frown, she hesitantly threw another one, but it was met with the same fate. Her frown only deepened, but she was not giving up. Whatever that shield was, it had to have an end somewhere. The last three or four snowballs that she had, before she would have to wait to make more, weren't aimed at the other trainer and her Pokémon partner directly - instead, Sonia tossed it a little off to the sides and higher up, trying out this neat technique of theirs.

"Bebe, retreat! Regroup and prepare to strike!" Sonia commanded as she was tossing the last snowballs. The Rattata wasn't quite sure about the meaning of these words, they weren't ones her trainer usually used, but she could tell that it was time to hide back into safety. She jumped over the snow mound, which was unstable in the first place and was starting to fall apart, to meet with her trainer and Kaname.

Whether she had managed to successfully to test the barrier's limits or not, Sonia eventually ducked. Kaname used the moment of confusion to get a break from making ammunition. The trainer absentmindedly worked on reinforcing their fortress, sweeping the snow from their surroundings and stabilizing the snow mound, trying to turn in more into an actual wall. With a focus expression, she was thinking of a new strategy. A barrier... And it seemed like they stopped their attack too, for the time being...

It was time to make use of Bebe's size and agility again. She was not only a good distraction, but she could also do as a spy... Sonia smirked. "Bebe, this time we distract them! You go around and attack from the back! Um, try to go behind that tree," she pointed at one, a few feet away from them and on their side of the battlefield. Then she moved her finger in a circle, hoping the Rattata would know what she meant. "Then find another, closer to them. Then go from behind and... Uhh, get snow in their shoes! Something!"

Did that clown Pokémon have shoes? She wasn't sure. But at least the human would. It was a risky plan, but it was all in good fun. At the very least, they would be surprise to see Bebe on their side and maybe she could use the momentum to strike with full force! If the Rattata managed to get across undetected, of course.

Bebe's expression showed some hesitation, but Sonia assured her, "This is very important! I'm counting on you, Bebe!" Then the rat nodded, preparing to dash. Then the trainer stood up again, with a hastily put together snowball in hand. Regardless of the barrier, she tossed it right at the opponents, then proceeded to make another snowball, still in plain sight, hoping that they would be too focused on her reckless actions to notice the small rat sneaking out on the side and running for the tree.

Kaname
Finally a bit of rest...
