Welcome

Our old universe has fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

The biggest event of the season- of the year, even- is the Anniversary Fair, and it is here again! We have a scary story contest. Our plot events are still going strong.

Season

Autumn will be here until December. All of Terrene is cooling by degrees; those in Ashfield scarcely notice because it never truly gets cold there, though they will notice the decreased rains and humidity. Winds pick up, particularly in the southern areas. Ghost types are more common this season.

Blue wasn't one to stay put for long, and she needed the fresh sense of adventure pumping through her blood. After a day of walking around and trying to get to know the village, the young woman set off into the sandy land. The sky was rather cloudy, and it was strangely cold. Thank the lords that Blue had a coat, and Sasha had fluffy fleece.

The two companions were walking around the land of a while, the stars shining through the clouds. Blue observed the land around her, smiling happily. Meanwhile, Sasha was on the lookout for danger, occasional jolts of electricity sparking up in her fleece. "You okay, Sasha?" Blue called over her shoulder, rather worried for the seemingly stressed pokemon. Her partner merely gave her a short nod and continued forwards. Blue began to whistle a bit to lighten the mood.

((May I request a houndour from the spawn? Thanks :U

The cool night air drifted on a calm breeze over the desert sands, grains moving here and there as the light material was lifted and brushed upon the ground. The clouds that hung over the desert drifted lightly, but the breaks and fluff didn't threaten the inhabitants with rain, as most were likely dust clouds more than rain clouds. It was peaceful and quiet for the moment, unknown dangers lurking beneath the sands stretching out as far as the eye could see.

And in this season, many others were prowling amidst the cold evenings as temperatures started to drop with the season change. It was getting closer and closer to the winter, which meant hunters were gearing up to start salvaging extra food to prepare for the cold season. In the midst of that, there were many competing packs and lone predators, fighting to the death over prey and land as they scouted areas for their kind to huddle in to outlast the worst season of the year for the warm species.

In a recent battle, or more so chase, one of the younger hunters in a pack got ran out and somehow separated from her pack. She'd searched all day, trying to reunite with those she belonged to, but alas hadn't been quite able to find where they'd went. Surely they'd been looking for her all afternoon as well, and with the night kicking in, her kind would only be re-energized in their fervent search of the missing pup. And she was as well, panic settling in as she worried about getting lost in the endless sands, to grow weak and fall prey to another, stronger hunter.

The houndour was a pack pokemon, and was much to young to independently hunt on her own. Many of her kind would never do such a thing, so she was ill-prepared to wander by herself in the desert. And so when in the distance she saw a human and sheep appear, her defensive instincts kicked in. Sparks flew from the sheep's wool, and she lowered her head and tail, growling at the new appearance. She wasn't sure what she was doing, or how to proceed, but hoped these two would simply leave her be.

As the two slowly made their way across the land, Blue noticed her companion start to tense up. "What's up, Sasha?" She hummed, and looked over towards where the sheep was glaring. Nearby in her line of vision was a small little black dog. It seemed a little confused.

"Um... Hello!" Blue called out, cupping her hands over her mouth. The pokemon seemed to be growling at the two, but it was shaking madly. She took out her little device to scan the pokemon. "Sasha, can you tell them we mean no harm? Do you even understand me?" The girl asked, searching through the list of names. She finally came upon one with a little picture that seemed close to what it was. Houndour. Cute name.

Sasha huffed, glaring at the houndour. Where the hell was the rest of her pack? Weren't these mutts supposed to stay together? As the human spoke, the mareep sighed. She slightly rolled her eyes. This human was stupid. Still, it was a valid thing to say to a scared stranger. "(Hey, kid! We're just here to walk around! You wanna join us?)"The pokemon decided that maybe the houndour could use some company, since it's the middle of the night and creepy things are kinda bound to spring up. Sasha glanced over at the human, who was fiddling around with some device in her hands. She let out a 'bahh' to it in slight annoyance. "(Hey! You going to actually look at this kid!?)"

The houndour's head lowered a bit more as she studied this human and sheep, the human calling out towards her. The voice rang out in that strange speech that humans used. It was clearly a word, but not one the young pup could possibly understand. And based on the continuous speech and expressions between the duo, she had a feeling the mareep didn't quite understand human speech either. The human brought out a strange device, which put her a little more on edge.

The sheep made a proposition, stating they wee simply just walking. Which seemed odd, because humans were always plotting. Or at least, that's what all the adults of the pack always said. Humans were no good, always looking to kill or capture their kind. They spat ugly words and attacked them on site and were not to be trusted. But this was already uncharacteristic of that expectation. The human seemed intrigued, and somewhat pleasant. Not aggressive in any regard.

"Uh, I guess?" What was she saying? Agreeing to travel with them? Well, she didn't say how close they'd have to walk, right? And even then, she had to begrudgingly admit being around others would be nice compared to the lone search she'd been on. She was still as shaky as a leaf, but her stance changed. The dog was standing properly, not getting closer but no longer growling or looking as if she'd pounce. She was extremely nervous, afraid she was making a hugely wrong decision, but let her loneliness lead her to walk near these two.

Blue glanced down at Sasha as she started bleating at the dog and then at her. What the hell was she even saying? Well, whatever it was, it managed to bring the houndour closer. She stared questionably at her partner. Blue then shrugged and smiled at the dog. She stuffed the device into her pack and searched through the bag more. Well, maybe it was hungry..? It seemed rather lost.

Blue sighed in relief as she picked up a small berry. It looked like a large round flower with yellow in the middle. Maybe the houndour would like it..? She set it down and rolled it over towards the pokemon, which lead to Sasha sending her a few confused looks. Blue stood up straighter and backed up, allowing the pokemon some space. From what she could tell, it seemed to not trust the two too much. Plus, she wasn't sure if it would attack Sasha and her or not. Blue stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket and shivered slightly at a cool breeze soaring by.

For offering for her to walk with them they sure didn't seem to be... actually walking. The human and sheep remianed standing, the human seeming to study the dog. It made her a little uneasy, wondering what was going on in the pale creature's mind and what sorts of plots she could be cooking up. It was all so uncertain, and she felt so alone out here, separated from the pack. The situation as a whole was just so unnerving to her.

Of course, the dark type tensed up as the woman proceeded to start ruffling in her bag. The woman's expression seemed friendly enough, at least at the moment, but who knew how long that would last. What if it was simply a ruse to get her to draw closer? Were they simply waiting on the proper opportunity to attack? The sheep wasn't an aggressive species in any way, shape, or form, but the electricity sparking from her wool was nothing to be underestimated. Humans had no special abilities, but seemed to have objects that helped them get over that hurdle.

When a berry was pulled out, the dog relaxed a bit, her expression turned to confusion. Why would she get a berry out, at a time like this? Even then, the strange looking berry didn't look like anything she'd ever seen before. It was a little curious, and definitely piqued her interest. She hadn't realized that she was hungry until the food had been brought out, practically dangled in front of her. No, not dangled, legitimately rolled in her direction. What was this human playing at?

The houndour sniffed the air cautiously, taking a mental note how moist the berry looked. It only amplified her hunger and desire to taste it. It could be a trap, poisoned or meant to weaken her. But as her mind and stomach battled, the feral need to food won over her paranoia. She slowly moved towards the berry, taking an experimental lick. Deciding she liked it, a small nip out of the berry. Deciding she really liked it, whether from pure hunger or actual taste, she bit into it and started eating away at it ravenously.

Sasha watched as the houndour sniffed the berry that the human had rolled over. She glanced up at Blue, what the hell..? Well, the kid did seem hungry. The dog nipped the the berry, and then started practically inhaling it. Sasha flinched at the sight and looked around. A nudge hit her side and the sheep stared up to see the human holding a small blue berry to her face. Sasha glanced to the devouring dog, then to the berry her partner was offering. She shook her head. Better save that thing for when the kid gets hungry again.

Blue sighed as she lifted the berry from Sasha's face and placed it in her bag. The young woman caught the sight of the houndour finishing the berry and smiled. "Okay, cool! We're gonna start walking!" She called, turning and skipping ahead.

Sasha blinked and stared at the dark pokemon. She heard the sounds of footsteps and noticed that the human had said something about walking before skipping off. She guessed that they were on their way now. "(Hey, kid. I think the human is going now. Come on, if you want.)" She bahhed, following at the human's feet. She glanced over her shoulder to see if the mutt was actually following them.

The human turned and started to walk off, which was a sign that they were going to move now. This would be her last chance to decline the offer, if she was going to. The sheep spoke up, inviting her indirectly once again to come with them. It still made her a little nervous, the idea of walking with these two. But the last thing she wanted was to be alone any longer. She really wanted the company. So as they started off, she padded at an equal speed to walk with them. At least for a little while.

It was getting a little colder, but that wasn't in the slightest bit odd. The oddity that came through was a duo of soft giggling, in both directions to either side. As the giggling started, two candles appeared from the sand, pushing up from the surface. They simply sat there on the sand for a moment, a face on each candle as a purple flame flickered above their heads, another giggle being released in unison from the two ghosts. They watched for a moment, following the trio if they continued on.

After a couple minutes of study, they moved closer, getting about 5 feet away on either side. "A few lost souls, have we found?" The litwick to their left spoke, and the right spoke immediately after. "Oh you poor things. Lost in the endless sands." They both hovered a couple inches above the ground, the houndour moving into a low bow and growling, shivering as if she was freezing. It was clear she was terrified by the situation currently, but didn't make any move to run away or attack. At least, not for the moment, as she looked back and forth between the two of them.

"Perhaps you could use some help. "We two know this desert well." "A poor, young pup separated from her pack." "A human and her lamb, so far from their home." They each giggled and spun in a circle, one clockwise while the other went counter-clockwise. "Our help comes at no cost, we are quite the generous type." "We ask you of no favors, except to be your guides." "We know our ways to both your kind, your homes." "The paths are easy, and we light the way."

And then simultaneously they spoke. "So what do you say?"

Blue glanced over her shoulder at Sasha and the houndour. Hopefully they could find the poor pup's pack soon, the little dog seemed terrified alone. Suddenly, two little white candles started to circle them. They were talking, but the human couldn't understand a word. Sasha seemed rather alert, as her fleece stood on end, sparking a bit of electricity. The human tilted her head. These candles looked quite cute, actually. But it only added to the creepiness as they floated lightly off the ground and circled the trio.

Sasha growled as she watched these... Whatever the crap they were, surround them. Weren't they litwick? She had heard some weird shit about these things. She felt uncomfortable, and the other kid seemed so as well. They were offering a way home, that was the first sign of bullshit. Next, they were literally creepy twins floating around them, since when was that good for anything? Last, these things just gave her a pit in her stomach. She backed up towards the houndour and muttered under her breath."(Look, kid. I'm gonna make a break for it, since that human is bound to follow. I suggest following us.)" She stood up, eyes narrowed. "(I'm afraid to burst your bubble, but we know the way back to our place. But who knows, we might be here tomorrow? See ya later.)" Sasha continued by calmly walking off. She had to force herself to keep a straight face.

Blue was simply staring at the little candles when she heard Sasha bleat something, probably at the new pokemon, and calmly walk off. Wait, something was wrong. Sasha never walks like that, she's always stomping and angry. "Crap..." She murmured. "I-I'm sorry, little guys! But it seems my little friend wants to go... Sorry!" She chirped an apology and wandered after the small sheep. She glanced over at the houndour, wondering if the dog will join them again or not.

Though the mareep's words were comforting, the houndour had pretty much been planning to run in the first place. She'd been taught at a very young age to never underestimate ghosts. You'd never know what tricks they had up their sleeves until it was too late. She needed to get out of here, but didn't want to draw too much attention or aggression to herself. Still somewhat shaking, she followed Sasha's calm lead, walking slowly and as normally as possible to move past the candles.

The male pursed his lips at the mareep walking away. The female's eyes started to water. "B-but we just want to help. W-why won't you let us help? " She broke into tears, little stubby wax hands moving to cover her eyes as she balled. "It seems our generous offer is going unappreciated." His expression trembled, the litwick attempting to keep his face neutral as he held back his own tears. They were taking the declination of help really hard.

"It's because we are ghosts, isn't it? ISN'T IT?" She shouted through the tears, tearing her arms from her face as she looked on at the mareep and houndour, both of whom had turned to try and leave."Of course it is. They think because we are ghosts we are going to do them harm. That's just the standard." He rubbed at his eyes, little tears dripping down his wax face. "Fine. Jus-just go. We'll just return to being alone and having NO FRIENDS!" "It's true. Our afterlives are just so lonely..." Their giggles, their joy, was all gone. Both of them floated back down to the sand and plopped down, both candles looking up towards the sky as their flames flickered low.

"We didn't ask to become ghosts, to live this life." She muttered, a whispered and exascerbated tone that didn't indicate she was actually directly speaking to anyone, just talking to herself as she stared into the stars above them. "We have to believe that one day, someone will see past our outsides. It's our only hope, and we should cling to hope all we can." They both sighed in unison, a trait of spending so much time together that likely freaked others out. But they didn't get up to follow, should the group choose to simply leave them behind.

Sasha sighed as she stared at the houndour, then at the crying twins. She felt bad for these pokemon at their words. The small sheep knew what it felt like to be lonely. Hell, before she met the small human, she was just wandering the streets for hell knows what reason. She took a deep breath, glanced at houndour and the human, and muttered casually. "(If this gets us hurt in any way, I take full blame.)" She turned her head to the crying candles and sighed. "(Okay guys, you guys can follow us. If you guys harm us in any way, I will literally bolt to that nearby city and yell as loud as I can.)" She growled, returning to her moderate walking pace. Those humans hated being woken up, and they'd honestly get their crosses and water at the sight of weird ghosts at night. She quietly apologized to the mutt and then glanced at the human.

Blue flinched as the candles suddenly starting crying and flew off. The human wanted to stay and help them through whatever had happened, but she didn't want to get lost accidentally. She watched as Sasha bleated something at the candles and kept moving. Blue lowered her gaze and stared at the scared dog. "Relax, it's okay.." She tried to smile and lifted her hand to lightly pet the pokemon. She would lift her hand back if the houndour chose to refuse or growl.

The mutterings of the mareep had almost gone uncaught. The pup had at first written off the statement as simple complaints about the candles moaning and whining, even if a pang of sympathy shot through her delicate, young heart. But as her words sunk in fully to understanding, her snout turned towards one of the litwicks as Sasha invited them to travel with them, albeit with a warning. She was much less on board with the idea, but the fierce confidence of the sheep was somewhat comforting in this situation, she felt.

The female ghost froze as her mind worked to process the words she'd just heard. It was a complete 360 from like, 2 seconds ago. And, definitely not anything either of them had ever expected to happen. Everyone always thought the two of them were up to no good, just as these had at the start. But no one ever got over that feeling, no matter how much they cried or whined. No one believed them. They just cursed and belittled the poor little ghosts, the young souls just wanting to find companionship, even if temporarily, with others aside from themselves.

The male was... much more openly emotional about his feelings on the situation. He started balling, more than the other had been moments ago before freezing up. Tears streaming down his wax face bubbled up and blurred his words ever so slightly. "WAH TH-TH-TH-THANK YOU SO MUCH!" He shook side to side in excitement and overjoy, his flame flaring up from the intense and happy emotion. The female hushed him and he stopped talking, calming a bit and wiping his tears. "Sorry, sorry. I'm just so excited." The other nodded in agreement, even though her expression was much more controlled, only letting a smile through.

They straightened themselves up and floated around and in front of the group, turning back and waiting for them to start walking. They truly knew where both of the homes were for these travelers, and they knew these desert sands extremely well. Plus, floating into the sky helps with seeing where everything is. "C'mon c'mon! Let's go!" She cheered, waving with a stubby wax hand. The boy hovered up and down as he waited, and both would fall in pace with the others as they continued, half-leading them towards the human settlement to make sure their new friends didn't get lost in the dangerous night sands.

Sasha took a deep breath and smiled at the houndour, trying to reassure her that everything was fine. "(Kid, try to relax and have fun. Your life will be better that way.)" Although she seemed confident in the statement, she didn't totally follow that mindset. She nodded, and watched as the candles floated around in glee. She smiled at them too, automatically feeling uplifted. She felt happy that these kids were happy. The small sheep secretly wouldn't bare it just leaving two kids to cry alone in this shithole of a scrubland. "(What do you guys wanna talk about while we walk? Humans? Life? Honestly, anything will freaking do. This human is no fun in conversation, since she can't even understand me.)" It was the first time the pokemon had ever referred to her partner as something rather than 'it' and it was strange to say.

Blue beamed as she saw the two candles burst out in happiness and join them. "Hey! Nice to see you could come along after all." She smiled brightly. She raised her hand from the former attempt to pet the houndour and started to shuffle. The girl started to look at the stars and looked at each shape the array of them could make. Her eyes widened as she realized what direction to go in and she bolted in the sand. She clutched the straps of her pack and skipped happily in the sand by the two litwicks. "So, you guys all okay? If you need something, just ask Sasha and she'll probably help." She explained over her shoulder before tripping on her feet and collapsing into the sand.

The girl started to laugh and she picked herself up. "Heh... Got a little ditzy. Anyways, yeah." Blue smiled. She fell back a bit to try and pet the houndour once again. Once it was either accepted or refused, she then ran towards the two candles and kneeled down to wave. She even held out her hand to each to see if they'd give her a handshake. She knew she couldn't provide them with conversation, but maybe she could at least give a few friendly gestures?

With an uncertain gaze towards the mareep, the pup soaked in her words, analyzing and trying to find comfort within them. They weren't really comforting in any way, but the sentiment was still there. The advice was sound, and it would likely be better for her to calm down and relax a bit. Nothing good could come out of feeling so afraid or ready to jolt at a moments notice. She took a deep breath, eyes turning towards the excited ghosts.

Who were both completely oblivious to the discomfort of the houndour. Never having made it this far with any creatures they'd come across in the desert, they were unfamiliar with reading expressions outside of fear or rage. The both of them had been legitimately truthful when they'd said no one had accepted them, and now they were going to be absolutely positively helpful and friendly to these first travelers to allow them to come with. They were bubbling with joy and appreciation.

"Humans are really such strange creatures." She giggled and looked over at Blue, who was blissfully ignorant of the words they spoke. The two of them had wondered if, in a previous life, they had been humans. But it was a pretty laughable concept in reality. "We've been to their weird place with those structures before, but don't know much about them. He turned upside down as he floated, as if to express his curiousity or confusion. "What are those things they build? Why do they block out the sky from themselves in the desert?"

Since the ghosts didn't quite understand the problem that temperature and sun exposure caused to the living, they couldn't fathom why any creature would want to box themselves away in something that seemed confining. They couldn't pass through solids as the litwicks could, so it seemed more like a trap than anything else. "Also, why are they so insistent on pouring water all over themselves? Are they part plant? Do they absorb it through their skin?" The questions likely seemed silly, but these young pokemon were naive to the world and other beings that lived there.

Which oddly enough, made the dark-type feel a little more comfortable. She was still paranoid that they were lulling her into a false sense of security, but their silly questions were hard to think bad about. To be honest, she knew even less about humans than these two. After all, she didn't know they dumped water on themselves. She looked up at the human, who'd just tripped and fallen in the sand, and chuckled, though was still visibly a little uncomfortable. But, she was starting to loosen up a bit.

The human then slowed as they continued, placing a gentle hand on her head. She flinched slightly, but calmed herself and let the woman pet her. It was... oddly comforting. It reminded her of her father grooming the top of her head, except the texture was completely different. She decided she liked it, her muscles soothing a bit as she started to walk a little more naturally. Though she wasn't with her pack, and still wasn't sure when or if she'd be reunited with them, she didn't feel lonely anymore at least.

The candles were acutely aware as the happy human jogged up to them, that beaming smile being something strange to them, but they understood it. They both smiled back, curious what she was going to to. When she reached up to one, to shake hands, they were a little confused. Unsure but willing to try, the female reached out a stubby hand towards her own, and they shook. The wax was smooth, and warm in the night air. She smiled, and the male turned right side up again and did the same. They were very pleased with the gesture, and followed up by shaking each others hands as well.

Sasha smiled as the mood seemed to lighten up. The pup seemed to relax and the candle twins seemed very happy to join them. It felt nice like this. As the two twins threw a buttload of questions at the sheep, Sasha nodded in approval to the houndour. She then glanced over at the two.

"(Well, humans like shelter from potential enemies and the extreme weather cases in the town. Plus, when I look inside the shelters, they seem to store some stuff in there, like food, tools, and materials. My human likes to stay outside though.)" She watched as the human went to pet the mutt and then give a... Handshake? Weird. She continued on with the question and answers. She felt more at ease now, the gem on her tail flickering in delight.

"(Well, humans need water to live, so there's that. They also have the need to bathe themselves, so that might be it. But in all honesty, they really need a big rainstorm in this place. You guys know anyone that knows rain dance?)" She chuckled.

Blue almost shot up with delight as all three of the pokemon accepted her friendly gestures. The girl smiled more and ran up ahead, doing a sloppy cartwheel in the sand. She sighed and looked in her bag for something, anything really. Blue blinked as she took out the device, but quickly put it back. Stale bread? Nah, that was for Fluffy when she returned to the alley. She finally found a two slices of what she was sure was fresh bread. Her stomach growled, so she made the choice of taking a bit of the bread off to eat.

The rest of the bread was lightly handed to the rest of the pokemon by her. They probably needed the food more than her. Besides, Sasha could find some more bread somewhere, right? She remembered the glares from some of the people in town and sighed. "Here you guys go, I don't need it." She smiled and watched as Sasha lightly nommed on the piece given to her.
