Shae was not messing around. Sonia watched with eyes wide open, with lots of awe for the other woman's confident and decisive control over her Pokémon and a little fear for the life of the wild Pokémon. Mostly awe though. Seb seemed to have taken quite a hit, so she understood Shae's reaction, but when Zubat's lifeless body fell to the ground... She didn't want to think about it. The poor Pokémon didn't deserve it, she felt, but she couldn't judge Shae for this.

Back to more pressing matters, the other Pokémon jumped straight into the battle, as if enraged by Zubat's demise. She barely registered the fact that the smaller humanoid creature was heading for Kaname, as the rock was floating right at her, aiming a little higher where Bebe was... The rat squeaked and retreated into Sonia's hood and the girl followed her instinct: she tried to block the attack by putting her arms in a cross in front of her chest. She braced for impact, cringing as it happened, and pushed her back. She almost lost balance, but she planted one foot to the back, only sliding a few inches back. She felt a burning pain on her wrists. The Carbink's crystals damaged her sleeves and scratched her skin.

Kaname failed to react and protect Sonia as Tyrogue struck him with his arm, flinging him back a few steps. The Sylveon growled angrily, quickly getting back on his feet. He caught glimpse of the biggest of the opponents, who was giving them a frightening look. His body felt a little weaker.

"Kaname!" Sonia looked over her shoulder to check up on him. "Let's fight back! Use Disarming Voice, please! Tiro, Thunder Wave and Absorb on the rock!"

In the heat of the moment she couldn't find the right words to describe Tyrogue, but fortunately Kaname just went for the closest opponent. He stayed in his position as he sounded an angered cry and launched a pink blast of energy - his Disarming Voice was a fitting choice for this loud place.

The Joltik squeaked in dismay at the command. He was hoping to be excluded from this, he had been hiding to stay undetected and didn't even look at Throh enough to be affected by the Leer. But he was given a command and he had fallen victim to unpleasant turbulence as Sonia had been pushed back, so he did like the opportunity to strike back... Sonia put her arm to the front, as if opening a passage for him, so the bug hurriedly crawled down to her hand and shook his body, letting out an electric wave toward the rock. He followed up with opening his mandibles as he aimed at the same opponent, launching a red beam that would drain a little life energy if it hit its mark.

Treasure Hunt
Shae did feel a pang of guilt as the pokemon fell to the tunnel floor, un-moving and not making a sound. It hadn't been her intention to kill the poor thing, but she couldn't hold regret about it. While violence was not the best solution, she had to defend her family. While the loss of life in this world was unfortunate, she had to defend her family and the innocent. It was a hard lesson that she had to learn, after having ventured into the wilds multiple times and been attacked by creatures seeking only to kill others. She couldn't fix them all - and sometimes, death was unavoidable, no matter how she tried.

She turned her attention as Sonia started to get attacked again, the rock creature crashing into her. It wasn't too terrible though, the woman having withstood the attack and seeming ready to fight back, if needed. Sonia seemed much less willing to fight than others she'd encountered in her time in Terrene, and it was certainly a comforting sight to see someone who tries to handle situations without fighting whenever possible. It was a good way to look at the world, one that seemed to be used very sparingly by people.

Soon enough, Sonia and her team were striking back. The beautiful fox was shouting at the tyrogue in a focused attack, and a little spider skittered down her arm to attack the rock that had struck the human. She was glad to see that she was capable and could defend herself, but that didn't mean she was about to leave her to fight alone. They were partners in this expedition, and she was more than willing to help out in neutralizing these pokemon so they couldn't hurt them anymore. Though hopefully none of them died anymore - that was whole-heartedly not what she wanted to happen.

"Mar, peck on the little fighter. Barry, tackle the rock. Kay, use charge and stay back for now." She rolled out the three commands, deciding in the moment that perhaps her pokemon were strong enough that they didn't all need to be in the battle. Her head was a little more clear now that none of her pokemon outside their pokeballs were in bad shape. She'd attacked so much out of fear for Seb, and she still needed to tend to him once this battle was over. For now though, she would need to deal enough damage to try and scare off or at least disable these pokemon from fighting.

The bird moved first, clearly the most enthusiastic in this fight. She flapped her wings, ready and willing to use the super-effective attack on the fighting-type. Though it wasn't the strongest attack, it would be sufficient for dealing quite a bit of damage. She dived in, attempting to peck the tyrogue. Kay started to spark as it charged up power, Barry rushing in to attack next as fast as his little legs could move. He attempted to crash his body into the carbink, similar to how it had attacked the other human. He wished they could all just be friends! But Seb had been really hurt, and he wouldn't question his human's commands. He knew that she was always trying to be diplomatic, but was able to tell when diplomacy wouldn't work.

It appeared that the time for talking was over, and all there was left was to fight. In light of the aggressive attitudes of the wild pokemon, it appeared that Sonia and Shae were making the correct choice finally.

Kaname's attack hit all three adversaries, being a more broad-range attack. The loud cry rang out and wasn't as piercing as the shrieking from earlier, though it deeply affected the wild pokemon in a different way, feeling their strength drain anyways. Though, it had a greater effect on the pokemon other than the Carbink. Mostly, it appeared to irritate the Carbink without majorly substantial damage. Meanwhile, Tyrogue's knees buckled at the heavy damage he sustained from the fairy-type move, and Throh wasn't much better though he managed to avoid risking skinning his knees on the floor like Tyrogue did.

"(W-What the hell was that?!)" He was grumbling to himself, not able to dodge before Mar was diving at him, and striking beak-first. Mar would find himself drawing blood, having incurred more heavy damage. Tyrogue lost the energy to stay upright and was falling to the floor, a vague curse not even verbalized running through his mind. He assumed he'd be killed like Zubat was for passing out.

Carbink was shocked with electricity from a damned bug of all things! The rock began to scream again, but their screeching devolved into whimpering when Tiro drained them of their energy, incurring enough damage to even make this impulsive and foolish Carbink take pause. They were trying to move back, but the paralysis dulled their movements and attempts to retreat, wincing as the residual electricity danced on their stone surface.

Meanwhile, Throh was watching while loudly complaining to himself... Somewhat ruining the image he had of himself as thoughtful in comparison to the pokemon around him... Who happened to be falling before the might of the tamed pokemon. Not that it occurred to him that he was outmatched and he should leave, lest he be killed like the Zubat. Instead, he ignored Kay's charging preparation, and he surged forward towards that stupid ribbon dog, with full intentions of grabbing the dog and throwing him up into the roof of the tunnel.

Everything was working out in their favor. The rock that had attacked Sonia was floating back, visibly paralyzed, as shown by the bolts of electricity that ran over its body. The trainer was glad to see that, she was hoping there would be no more death this day - she would likely hesitate, but she saw that Shae wouldn't, so it was in the wild Pokémon's best interest to fall back. She let out a barely audible gasp as the smaller humanoid started to bleed after the bird's attack and soon fell down, losing consciousness. The sigh of blood was always worrying. Was it still alive or was it to late for it?... But Sonia couldn't pay enough attention to see if it was breathing, as the other fighter jumped in and attacked Kaname.

Before the Sylveon could react, the last of the wild Pokémon leaped into the battle and grabbed him. It was only a short instant as the Throh tossed him up in the air. The fox yelped as his back struck the tunnel's ceiling and he bounced down, falling on the ground. He blinked a few times in confusion, as the whole thing happened too fast for him to properly register what was being done to him. He finally processed that he was on the ground and hurting all over. He pressed his lips together as he slowly raised back up, glaring down the bipedal opponent.

"Kaname, use Tackle, please!" Sonia called out with a hint of worry in her tone. Her Sylveon was standing just fine, but the attack had looked painful - probably more than it really was. She didn't want her beloved fox to end up like that Zubat or Seb... But he also had more of a fighting chance than the rest of her Pokémon. She didn't want Bebe or Tiro coming near that thing, from the size difference alone it looked like they could be squished by being stepped on. "Ares? Poison Sting, please!"

Kaname shook his head as if to snap out of the effects of being tossed around. He then lowered the front of his body in focus before taking off toward Throh, planning to ram into him with a Tackle attack, empowered by his Fairy powers.

The Ekans, who had been safely staying on the sidelines, raised his head high, possibly only now becoming visible to most of the fighters. He opened his mouth and released a barrage of poisonous needles toward the only opponent that wasn't unconscious or retreating.

As these two of her Pokémon proceeded to attack, Sonia took a step backward, taking her other two partners with her, withdrawing them into safety. Tiro looked at her questioningly and she gave him a nod, urging the Joltik to run up her arm and find shelter on her shoulder. Bebe was watching the battle with eyes wide open, still hidden in Sonia's hood.

Treasure Hunt
Shae was relieved to see that the battle wasn't going poorly. It appeared that they were strong and experienced enough that these ones wouldn't provide any huge threat that they couldn't handle. The little fighter went down from the co-op attacks, but it appeared as if he was still breathing, despite the damage being enough to knock him out. She was grateful for that. If they could avoid death, that would be ideal. She would only kill something if it was needed. She didn't want all 4 of these pokemon to die today. Mar flapped back up in the air after the attack, eyeing the other fighting type and waiting for instruction.

As Barry flopped back from crashing into the tyrogue, barely keeping himself standing on his stubby little feet, the throh started to move. Luckily for him, it wasn't moving to attack the berry, but the fox instead. That wasn't ideal either though. "Oh please, can't you both just run away and let us complete whatever the humans came here for? I'm sure they don't want you to be hurt.". The berry trailed off, as the pokemon's hands wrapped on the sylveon, thrusting him in the air and earning and exclaimed squeak from the little cherubi. So violent and scary!

Shae gasped as well as Kaname hit the ceiling, ready to jump into action but trying to gauge how much would be enough to discourage the pokemon from continuing to fight without fatally injuring it. In the end, she wanted to protect Sonia and her pokemon. After all, they were partners and soon to be friends for sure! There was no way she'd leave her to have to handle a group of aggressive wild creatures on her own. She definitely needed to help, but she had to be careful not to overdo it like she did with the poor Zubat. She didn't regret it, but she still felt a touch sorry for the poor thing.

Sonia was quick to act as well, having Kaname push forward and her stealthy snake attack from afar. But would that be enough? She couldn't just stand by and hope it was - no, she was a woman of action. She couldn't just sit and watch. "Barry, use tackle on the big one. Mar, back to me." With as many on it as there were, it didn't seem like the murkrow would need to interfere any further. Kay could potentially attack, but as she stuck out her arm for the bird, she felt conflicted as to whether the charged attack would be needed or not. Mar flew over and gracefully landed on Shae's extended arm, feet grasping gently but firmly around her forearm.

Unless the pokemon immediately fell to the three attacks, or they were enough to get it to back off and stop attacking, she would ultimately decide to push forward with the additional attack. "Kay, Thundershock on the big red one!" The gears, now sparking from having charged up static around them, released the burst of electricity towards the throh, if and only if the pokemon was still looking like it wanted to fight. Of course, the steel type was indifferent to the fates of these pokemon, but would follow the human's command as always. Though it wasn't very passionate about much of anything, the bond between it and her was ever growing. It had spent so long with her, it didn't even know what it would do without her.

Throh successfully managed to throw Kaname, and he thought that he could make it out of this situation at top. Before he could loudly proclaim his superiority, however, Kaname tackled into him, knocking him to the ground. His muscles smarted from the strike, and he groaned. "(What the hell?! Argh... That hurt... A lot more than I thought it would...!)" The pain seemed to finally soften his voice, and he didn't have the strength to shout. Before he could try to get back to his feet and reassert himself, he was under fire from Ares' poison sting. The needles stuck into his body, and he began to start to feel ill... Then Barry crashed into him. It immediately sent him into unconscious darkness, the pain of his bruises and battered body unable to support consciousness.

By now, Carbink had managed to float off to the side of the tunnel, and was trying to hug the wall, it seemed like. Even as they winced at the electricity still wracking their body, they were now firmly out of the way. Shae and Sonia, having removed all obstacles, were now free to harvest the metal in the wall that the pokemon they'd fought had stood in the way of.

As the bigger fighter took blow after blow, Sonia and Kaname stood and watched intensely, ready to jump back into the battle if there would be a need... But just like they had done with the other opponents, they didn't give the red Pokémon much of a chance. It fell and Sonia held her breath... Only to see that just like the other humanoid, it was still moving and alive. It was a relieving sight. Sonia didn't want to hurt anyone in the slightest. The floating rock was slowly escaping, it seemed, and the woman had no intention of disturbing it. Any further than they already had, that is. All she wanted was to complete the task... And with all of the obstacles out of the way, the metal vein was ready for them.

The Sylveon scoffed at the fallen opponents and stepped back, staying next to Ares and Sonia. The woman glanced at Shae, then scanned the surroundings. "It looks like it's all clear now. Are you and your Pokémon okay, Shae?"

She stepped closer to her companion, looking over her and her Pokémon in search of injuries. She still remembered that poor bug who was resting in his pokeball, but she didn't note anything else that would worry her, so unless Shae revealed any issues, Sonia walked over toward the fallen fighters.

"We should probably move them out of the way and get to work before we disturb anyone else," the brunette suggested, grabbing her Rattata and setting her on the ground. Bebe groaned in complaint, but Sonia proceeded to attempt to grab the smaller humanoid first and slide it away from the metal vein.

As Sonia was working on making space for them to mine the metal, Kaname approached Shae's Pokémon. Assuming that the bird was the leader of the group because of her impressive display of skills, he was mostly looking the Murkrow's way when he spoke, "If any of you need some assistance, I will do my best to try and provide healing."

Treasure Hunt
Shae was relieved that she didn't need Kay to shock the pokemon after all. It's attack would likely have been overly strong, and she definitely preferred not killing the poor thing if needed. She signalled the pokemon that they were done, the electricity dispersing from the gear as they started turning into each other a little more slowly than before, no longer needing to be so active. She let out a breath, brightening herself a bit as she analyzed her pokemon and how they all, aside from Seb, seemed unharmed.

And Sonia started to talk as she looked over, looking at the other woman and her team as well. Shae smiled softly. "Yes, I think we're fine. I'll keep Seb in his ball until we get back to camp, and can take care of him there. Thank you. How is your poor fox? That was quite the attack..." The pokemon had literally thrown the sylveon up and into the ceiling, after all. That wasn't something you just shake off - he had to be in more pain then he was letting on, she felt. She shook her arm for Mar, who fluttered to the ground and began preening in victory.

Then the woman mentioned they should move the bodies. "Yes, I think that'd be for the best. Set them off to the side, and they can get up and go about their business once they are conscious again." Then her eyes glanced over to the bat that had fallen. "And I'll take this poor guy back to camp. He may have struck, but I think he deserves a little grave at least." Still, they needed to focus on the ore first, so she'd pick it up on the way out. She headed over to the larger humanoid and started to lift and carefully drag, Barry trying to be helpful and pushing from his side. But he quickly stumbled over and gave up, calling a light chuckle from his trainer. Once that was done, she'd grab her pick and get to work on the vein, leaving room for Sonia.

She'd had an easy victory over the two she'd attacked, and knew she could have taken down the third single-handedly had she been allowed to. Such was to be expected. After all, she was the best fighter in the group. Though she'd begrudgingly become more bonded with the trainer who'd captured her so long ago, that didn't mean she wasn't aware that she was better and could escape anytime. When the fairy asked if they needed help, looking towards her. She cawed lightly in laughter. "From that easy fight? No, we're too strong for the simpletons to provide any real damage. Or I suppose I should say I am too strong." Mar hadn't seen the bug get damaged, so she wasn't even aware that Seb had taken a dire hit. "Save your fairy magic for yourself, if you don't mind." The demon and the fairy were opposites, after all, one inflicting and encompassing negative emotions while the latter was positive. She didn't exactly have a high opinion of them.

Barry, after having stumbled over and giving up on helping Shae - after all, she seemed to be able to handle it - waddled over to the Sylveon, who was getting mean words from Mar. "Oh, don't mind her. She's like that with everyone." Which got him a look from the bird that would strike fear in a pokemon that wasn't used to her antics already. As it was, the berry knew that the bird would never attack her. "I think we are all set though! We'll, except poor Seb, but he's in his pokeball and I'm sure our trainer will get him all healed up later. She always does! How are you after that intense blow??"

Sonia smiled and nodded as Shae responded politely and stated that they all fine. This had gone better than most of the journeys Sonia had experienced so far. It could be because of this experienced partner beside her... She was glad for Shae's company, really. But as she mentioned Kaname... The woman glanced at her loyal companion, who seemed to be comfortably chatting with Shae's Pokémon. Admittedly, that blow did look painful, but considering that Kaname was walking around and talking just fine... She had somehow brushed it off, a lot like he seemed to do. She had seen him in pain and this wasn't it.

"That blow looked terrible, but I think Kaname's been through worse. He's tougher than he looks," the woman giggled, grabbing her pickaxe and preparing to work. Admittedly, she actually thought Kaname looked pretty strong, but she could be idealizing him. And he was still even stronger than that, she believed.

She glanced at Zubat's body sorrowfully. That was truly a shame and she wished it could have been avoided... But again, she couldn't blame Shae for taking such actions. Protecting one's Pokémon took priority over everything. She would have probably reacted in a similar manner if someone attacked Bebe as violently. "Good thinking. It's the least we can do, right?" Despite the melancholy in Sonia's voice, she gave a light smirk as she began working on the metal vein, one click of the pickaxe after another. "But you really are a good person, Shae. A lot of people would want to... Just eat him. In a sense, the death is not meaningless that way, but isn't that also disrespectful? We wouldn't want a person to be eaten."

It was a bit of a dark topic for their metal gathering task, Sonia realized, her thoughts running back to an earlier one. "So! About that ice skating competition you mentioned. Think they'll be doing another sometime?"

Kaname didn't respond to Mar's boastful reply, as he only sat there, blinking in confusion. This bird surely had skills, but she also had an attitude. He sensed some... strange aura around her, but she wasn't like those pesky Poison-types that he despised. Even if she was somehow different, he at least felt like he had things under control. And didn't risk getting nausea. Probably.

After being set on the ground, Bebe dashed toward Kaname and sat down next to him, immediately deciding to join the conversation. Ares kept to himself in the back.

"Bebe is as strong as that bird friend," she informed Shae's other Pokémon with a proud grin, straying a little bit from the truth. Kaname rolled his eyes, but he let her live in the fantasy.

"It is no problem. Even the nicest trainers have Pokémon companions with an attitude," he responded to Barry with a polite smile, glancing at Sonia. "I'm happy to hear you are in good hands, then. As for me... Please do not worry. I can take a few hits," he puffed his chest proudly.

Treasure Hunt
At the mention of the fox having been through worse, the woman spared a glance at the sylveon. He certainly seemed to be fine, and she was pleased to see that their pokemon were getting along. Mar seemed to have that tone she generally always had, but she was socializing. So, that was definitely a good sign! Normally she either wants to fight or flat out ignores others. It was amazing to see how far the bird had come since being captured. Their bond seemed to grow stronger everyday now, and she was glad for it. The woman couldn't imagine her life without the bird anymore.

And being strong despite not looking tough was a staple of her team. Aside from Kay and Mar, most of her pokemon looked rather unthreatening. Not that she minded in any way - she didn't particularly want them to be threatening. But they were all tough in their own right, and they trained hard to be able to defend themselves and each other. They were a strong family that seemed to be ever growing. Which was just how she wanted it. She loved getting new members to the family. Though, admittedly, she should consider putting new additions on hold until she figures out how to acquire higher quantities of food for them all.

Shae's soft smile lit up a bit at Sonia agreeing to her suggestion. Her attention was fully returned to the woman who'd traveled through this tunnel with her. It grew a bit more when she followed up with a compliment about her being a good person. "I would agree. Each creature's life is valuable and wonderful. And they should be respected as such." She winked as she continued. "You're a pretty great person yourself, I'm sure." Though they'd only been chatting a short time, it was clear that Sonia had common values and outlook to her. She was confident this woman was as kind and strong as herself.

Her expression brightened at the mention of the ice skating competition. She was glad to hear that the woman was interested in it, and even more joyful that she was going to be able to give such good news. "Yes! Actually, after last year I reached out to the person who created the skates, as well as a few other people, to help organize having the competition once again. It's happening again in Winter, about 8 weeks from now. You should definitely keep your ears open for more specifics to come." Shae was always happy to talk about the Ice Skating. "It will be at the same lake as last time - Isbrand Lake. If you've never been there, it's a beautiful place near the edge between the two great forests. If there's as much traffic as last year, I'm sure you could find some people to show you the way!" Unfortunately, she needed to go out a few days prior to make sure everything got setup and ready for the contestants. So she couldn't ask others to come out with her.

When Bebe joined them, the murkrow didn't even acknowledge the rat's presence. Such a creature was way beneath her in all regards. So when she stated that she was just as strong as her... the bird lost all composure. Her laughter came out in the form of caws, which pulled the attention of Shae. A glare and quick statement of her name made her calm down a bit, stifling her laughter. "You? As strong as me? In your dreams maybe." The bird stuck her beak up in the air in all her pride, turning away from them. They were all beneath her, and she didn't need to waste her time with them any longer.

Barry simply ignored Mar's words - something he was very used to doing - as the conversation continued. He hoped they would hold his previous words of not paying her any mind. She wasn't nice to people, so he tried to make up for her mean words. "I'm sure you're super strong! Just like you're big brother." He returned his attention to the sylveon, pretty amazing that he could shake off that attack so non-chalantly. "You must have amazing pain tolerance then! I can't imagine how that felt. You're so strong." He trailed off, still happy to be chatting with them. But deep down that bead of envy struck him as it normally did. Was he just doomed to be weaker than everyone else? Was there no one who was like him?
