Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Quirky Egg Stall

Last year, a breeder friend of Dentelle Bois had who had been conducting research in Pokemon mating and genetics fell into financial trouble. To help out, Dentelle offered to run a stall at the Anniversary Fair last year, selling a number of his eggs to raise money for him to allow him to continue his research. There was a mishap, however, and Dentelle was left with all the information on the eggs except for what Pokemon was within them, leaving it a mystery for whoever purchased them. It proved to be popular enough last year that Dentelle has returned again with eggs from many of her scientists friends- all proceeds go toward funding various research, of course.

The limits are, THREE eggs per Player, and only TWO eggs can be bought for the same character.

Ri had been interested in checking out the fair, that apparently took place in a meadow that was near the outskirts of Ashfield. She wasn't sure if she was going to buy anything or participate in anything, but she figured it was worth a look. She'd found herself wandering towards the vendors at the northern end of the clearing.

Then something caught her eye and earned her most powerful scowl. Venom and Sai were at her side, on either side, and appeared to be slightly confused by her sudden sour mood. Well, actually Venom was giving one of his incredulous looks. Sai was the one who looked confused.

Tch. Ri didn't like that it was basically the same as selling children. Oh wait, that's because it was. She was about to leave, but as she turned away she couldn't help that little nag of guilt. Well, it wasn't like she could get all the eggs away... Or help them... Maybe... Maybe just on. She picked a random egg from her line of sight, pale yellow egg with darker patches. She forced a more civil, polite smile on her face and approached the stall casually.

"Hey, can I get that one?" She asked, pointing with a finger at the egg she'd singled out before.

((YELLOW MOUNT EGGU. THERE'S A BUNCH OF EGGS THAT ARE YELLOW BUT VERY SPECIFIC MOUNT EGGU IS DESIRED.))

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
Beside the stall sat a turtle. A very large turtle, large enough to have two small bushes sprouting from her back. She sat still, so still she could easily be mistaken for a decoration; but as Ri approached, she raised her head and looked about expectantly. She was eager for a little bit of conversation- but it seemed as though this woman didn't have any Pokemon with her? What a shame. She loved this event for the opportunity it presented for her to meet so many new faces each year, but it seemed this particular human had no companions accompanying that she could gab with. A pity.

Dentelle, on the other hand, was all business as per usual. She met Ri's eyes and, in response to the other female's falsely polite front, kept her own face extremely neutral. She had no need for masks or social niceties. She had goals. A purpose. None of which included a popularity contest. Luckily for her, the vast majority Ashfielders- and other outsiders- accepted her just fine.

"Of course you may, provided you have the six hundred and seventy tokens to spare." She spoke in response to the redhead's inquiry.

She took the currency from the woman emotionlessly, and then gestured to give her permission for the young woman to take the yellow egg which sat near the info tag marked MOUNT POKEMON. "You may have the basket, too, if you wish."

//Thanks for coming by! Have a nice day!// Hatfield piped in at the last moment.

Samantha wasn't stupid, she knew Pokemon didn't come out of nothing, nor were they easy to raise. They came out of these odd cases with tiny, tiny Pokemon in them. Apparently warmth made the Pokemon want to come out and live more. It actually sounded quite tedious to Samantha.

So why was she staring these eggs down again?

Samantha perched upon a fence around most of the vendor stalls, tilting her head every which way to listen in upon the conversations about these "bred" Pokemon. Apparently they were "better"...somehow...she didn't ask questions about all this.

Her claws pawed at the useless tokens she had. Useless, useless. A Pokemon would help much more, but she didn't feel like breaking in a new wild Pokemon. Apparently babies followed their "parents" more, that loyalty could be useful. Her head tilted once more at the discussion about a blue and brown egg...the Pokemon inside was fast...good...and big, it could carry a human!

That was it. Without thinking too much, Samantha dismounted and crawled toward the vendor, pointing toward her selection. "T-th-that one."

(Taking the brown and blue mount egg for Samantha!)

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
The human-on-four-legs was quite a unique sight, one that drew a lot of stares. Hatfield the Grotle was quick to notice the human-on-four-legs, though her stare wasn't a nervous or judgmental stare, as surely most of the normal humans' stares were; rather, it was a curious, eager stare. She made a delighted noise of greeting as the human-on-four-legs decided to come forward, even though it wasn't her that the human-on-four-legs was coming over to see. It was Dentelle, of course, that the human-on-four-legs was after. So, the Grotle contended herself to watch as her two-leg human interacted with the four-leg human.

Dentelle's eyes were alight with hungry curiosity as the strange young girl walked up to her on four legs. The older woman had to lean clear over her counter in order to see her, and lean she did, staring intensely. A slight upturn crept onto the edges of her lips

"I am curious. Why do you walk that way, upon four limbs rather than two?" There were already theories forming in her mind, but she wanted to know what the source of this curiosity had to say. Though, it seemed she struggled to speak at all.

Of course, Dentelle had heard what the strange feral human had said, and had noted which egg had been pointed to. She took the appropriate amount of tokens from the girl, and then passed down the egg, basket and all, to her.

Why didn't the Desert Strip have more festivals? This was awesome! He couldn't even count whatever went on in Snake Eyes, you just celebrated for no reason! Sure, it was really fun, but there were no surprises!

...Unlike the eggs in front of him.

He saw eggs hatch once, Fleet was no stranger to the process, and he could never get over how cute they were! Unfortunately, he never got to keep the cuties, nor could he steal them or something because they got attached to their "parents" or whatever.

He was also no stranger to twins, siblings that looked exactly the same! It was amazing, and really goofy! Fleet could only imagine how much he'd laugh if he got to see Pokemon with the same exact face!

So of course he sauntered up to the stand and pointed eagerly at the green twins, "Hey, hey, hiya lady! I want the twins, green ones, they're cute!"

Naka, carrying a bucket, perused the egg selection. She was acutely aware of her team's weakness to fire and flying, and she figured that getting a water-type pokemon would help remedy that. She wasn't the kind of person who knew anything about baby pokemon, so she didn't take the pokemon's vulnerability after it hatched into consideration, not yet, anyway. The uncommon eggs were within her price range, and there were two blue eggs, likely to hatch into the type she wanted most. "Less weak pokemon" or "Bulky mount pokemon"? Well, if she wanted a battler, the decision was obvious. "I'd like a less weak pokemon. The blue egg."

Meanwhile, her pokemon were touring the fair for themselves. Each was easy to locate, whether by smell or size, and Shroomish was easy because he liked to stay with her. Right now, the mushroom was pondering, as well as admiring Hatfield's bushes. "((It feels weird giving eggs out to random humans,))" he commented.

(Blue less weak egg for Naka, please!)

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
The next man- boy?- to approach her was far to bouncy and energetic for Dentelle. She met all types out here in the festival, since it drew crowds from all across the continent, but there were some that she was... significantly less interested in interacting with. "They're four hundred and forty tokens each, so for the two of them, that'll be eight hundred and eighty tokens."

After receiving the appropriate amount of the currency, Dentelle would gesture for the energetic man to take the two eggs that he had just paid for. She'd then turn away, letting her mind distract her, though Hatfield would squint after the retreating form of the man, as if suspicious.

(440+440=880 -> green twin eggs! I will go edit Fleet's index now!)

The next visitor to her stall was much more Dentelle's speed. Not subdued, per se, but calm and direct and no-nonsense. She gave a single nod toward the girl, and then stated the price of the particular egg she was interested in. "Six hundred and seventy tokens, then." She'd take the tokens and then offer the egg to Naka- she could take just the egg if she wished, and put it into the bucket, or she could take the entire basket and cloth padding that the egg was currently sitting in.

Hatfield, meanwhile, was delighted at the conversational opportunity that the Shroomish was presenting her. //Indeed! Humans do a lot of strange things- and Pokemon will do a lot of strange things for humans.//

Brady leaned down slightly towards all the Pokemon eggs, tapping her fingers on the wood, and trying to negotiate to herself why it was a bad idea to buy what is basically a freaking baby. She didn't have much money, she already had the... Cutie... fly... thing that she watched constantly, she have just developed a fear that it's wings could get ripped off if it crashed, and she didn't know how to care for an egg!

"Seriously, are these things supposed to stay warm or whatever...?" She didn't know! Then again, what if someone took one of these eggs and broke it? She felt her eyes fall on an egg that was considered "not too exciting". Great, now she was worrying this egg would get crushed just because it wasn't anything special. It wasn't even hers and yet she already felt her teeth gritting at the thought of someone messing up the egg, or even just the baby Pokemon when it hatched.

She sighed, this was definitely going to nag her if she left right here and now. Against her better judgement, she emptied her pockets of any money she still had and gathered it all on the counter, pointing at the egg, "Uh, I'm just taking that blue and green one." She was definitely going to need to be careful with this thing.

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
Dentelle couldn't tell if the first sentence the young girl spoke was directed toward her or if she was just speaking to herself; nevertheless, given the nature of the question, she felt obligated to answer regardless. She had knowledge and wisdom and expertise to share, and particularly given that the question related to the future well-being of one of the eggs currently in her possession, there was no reason whatsoever to withhold any useful information from the girl that had asked.

"Yes, Pokemon eggs are supposed to be kept warm to keep them healthy and growing and to encourage them to hatch- unless the egg contains an ice type Pokemon. The one you are after, however, does not. So do keep it warm, and keep it padded whenever possible to protect against jostling and impacts."

Dentelle slide the padded basket that contained the egg across the counter so that it was positioned front and center between the two of them. "This one costs two hundred and fifty tokens." Once she had taken the money and had counted to ensure it was the correct amount, she would take the basket containing the egg in question and hand it over to the young woman who had just purchased it.

Andrew walked down the path of fair stalls, searching for a specific one that he had been hearing about. Before long he found the familiar sight of an egg, at one of the stalls, andagainst d the counter was his "teacher". Putting a reminder to talk her in the back of his mind, he walk up to her to search the collection.

Now this was the work of a true breeder in action, all these little improvement to pokemon of a good breed. Each and every egg had a greater chance of life, and they have a step up against anything that wish to hurt them. 'All except for one,' Andrew thought, his sight landed on a single egg that look out of place. 'Blind, the poor thing would be blind.'

He know how dark the world was, at best the breeder would take it back if no one buy it. Worst? A small heart would never beat outside the shell. With resolve eyes, Andrew turned to Dentelle and gesture to the blind egg while setting down the tokens.

"Hey there Proffeser, I wouldn't mind taking care of that one."

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
Dentelle recognized the blonde man who came to peruse her stall. She suppressed the need to question him on his progress toward the various projects they had discussed; she supposed this was not the time. It was an unfortunate notion, that it was unseemly to discuss work at social functions. Nothing was more important to her than her research. The only reason she was here, running this stand, was to fund her research and the research of those like-minded.

She couldn't (or more accurately, didn't) stop herself: "I hope you are making progress on our projects, Andrew Sol." She stated as the young man investigated her eggs, rather than simply saying 'hello' as perhaps most normal, socially aware folks would.

She was somewhat pleased that Andrew declared his intentions to buy an egg: of all the people she had sold to thus far, he at least would understand the purposes behind these and the work that went into creating them. She was curious about his particular choice, however. She knew of his intentions to travel across Terrene; would he really force a blind creature to travel alongside of him? It wasn't her business, of course, but the questions burned in her mind nonetheless.

"A thousand tokens, then. I hope you have the qualities it will take to raise the creature."

Quirky
Egg
The appeal of raising a Pokemon from birth- er, from hatch?- was strong. Cynth had passed this egg stall a number of times, but each time she had a different reason for walking away again. She needed to be saving her tokens rather than spending them, the woman behind the counter looked a bit too unfriendly, there were other people already at the stall and she assumed any of them could be just as good (if not better) of a Poke-parents as she could be.

But from all her times of passing by, convincing herself temporarily not to get one, she noticed a trend: there was a group of eggs that seemed to be almost entirely ignored, both by those who were just window shopping (she wasn't sure where that term came from, exactly, but it fit the idea in her head) and by those who had actually purchased an egg. Perhaps it was because they were duller colors- grays and other dark hues. She wasn't certain, but... it finally piqued her interest enough that she approached the stall.

She gave an uncertain smile to the dark-skinned woman who watched over the eggs, and then dawdled over to where the untouched eggs were displayed. She couldn't read the descriptions- reading was still a skill that evaded her, and she didn't like to dwell on it much, as it had a bit of a negative memory associated with it. But she could read the price, and it was a far cry cheaper than the other groups of eggs. Was that it, then? The Pokemon contained within were... less rare? Less powerful? Something along those lines, she assumed. They had less of something or more of something that made them less appealing to the general populace.

Cynth was not one to cast judgement on those purchasing or those selling. No accusatory or angry thoughts flitted through her mind. But she felt a bit sad. She wasn't even certain if her conclusions were correct, but she suddenly had an overwhelming need to raise at least one of the creatures that so many others turned away from.

There were three that were grouped together under one of the signs that declared the cheapest price; gray, greenish, and purple-ish. "I would like to purchase this one," she decided, impulsively and gingerly placing two fingers on the last one, the purple one.

(For transparency's sake: Cynth is purchasing the purple pest egg. In an attempt to keep things more fair, since I know what is contained within all the eggs, Kaien will be rerolling ability, gender, and egg move of the Pokemon in question so that there is no chance that I have created an OP Pokemon or crafted the exact Pokemon that I wanted.)

Dentelle Bois
Quirky Egg Stall
Of all those passerby's who were attending the fair and walking past her stand, there were few that truly drew her attention. Those that were different from the others, whose oddities and uniqueness drew her studious eye. There were many mysteries and curiosities in the world that she desired to crack, but many other things demanded her attention with more priority. It was simple fact that she couldn't know everything, so she was content to watch from a distance when there wasn't other business to attend to.

One of those oddities was the woman walking around on a crutch, missing two limbs - literally an arm and a leg. Many questions had filled her head the first time she'd hobbled by, and the line of internal questioning only continued when the woman passed by time and time again. She'd seen others do the same, eyes glancing over the eggs as they continued to circle past the stand, uncertain as to whether they would desire purchasing an egg to raise or not. It was a idle hope that she might come visit - for the sake of getting a closer look.

And it came true. The amputee made her way up to the stand when no other customers were around, eyes falling on the pest pokemon who hadn't received much attention compared to the rarer, more powerful creatures that rested in the more expensive of the experiments. "How resourceful and creative to come up with a crutch to make up for the missing limbs. Did you come up with the idea yourself?" It was an idle question that hardly required answering, one of many she wouldn't have a chance to ask. After all, she was here to do business.

"That one will be 250 tokens." Once the tokens were placed on the counter and accounted for, she would collect the egg and place it in front of the woman, allowing her to pick it up and carry it as she wished. It would be a challenge for her to carry the egg, but she would assume the woman would have thought of that already and prepared accordingly.

Anyone who really actually spent any substantial amount of time with Ri would quickly figure out that her impulse control... Didn't really exist. She tended to get an idea in her head and had a very hard time fighting the urge to leap before she thought, as it were. So, of course, when the thought to get an egg crossed her mind... Honestly, Ri wasn't surprised at herself for finding herself walking back to the stand again.

Her mind sifted through all the different possibilities she could be using her tokens on instead even as she walked up to the stand again.

She made zero attempt to come off as friendly this time, simply pointing at a blue egg in her line of sight. "Uh, that one."
