Welcome

Our old universe has fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

Summer is here! There are a whole bunch of Pokemon swarming, a whole bunch of quests that need doing. We also have two plot-related events: Professional Army and Alpha & Omega, and a slightly less plot-related but no less exciting event, a Tournament!

Season

Summer will be here until September. All of Terrene is heating up; Desert Strip gets more hot and dry, West Forest gets more hot and humid. Thunderstorms rage, particularly in the south. Bug, Electric, and Fire types are more common.

CW: Some mention of guts/gore, TW: Death of a child!pokemon

Their rush would continue on a bit longer, the silence of the leading bug weighing down as she urgently rushed towards her destination. That little detour hadn't taken much time, but those few minutes rushed in her head, causing anxiety about being late. There had been little the creature could do at the time, given her lack of medicinal capabilities, and hands. She was a failure, but she would never give up. Fiercely determined, she pressed on, relieved that the human was following and keeping up.

Then, they finally arrived to the site she was rushed to get to, though not in the state she like. She stopped dead in her tracks a moment, dread sinking in as she watched the horror in front of her. Another scyther lay on the ground, guts gushing out in various places and clearly not moving. From the injuries and lack of movement, it was easy to tell the creature was dead. However, that was hardly the worst of their problems here. Standing over the bug's body was bird, feasting on it's corpse.

The dark feathered bird that stood there, eating its claimed meal, was very awkwardly rounded. Or perhaps, the shape of its body was simply over-accented by the strange choice of clothing. Two legs stuck through the holes of a large skull, broken and rounded over the bottom half of its body. The empty space filled with feathers made its body look more plump than it actually was. Its head stuck out, being a ripe pink color with a plume of black feathers sticking out of the top. Its little angry face was accented with a sharp, grey beak, which was currently messy with the excrement from its meal.

Breaking out of her shock and into pure hatred, the bug shrieked out, her buzzing noise sounding distressed and louder than any sound she had made yet. She launched forward towards the bird, slashing a blade at the vullaby, who deftly hopped out of the way and a few feet from the corpse. Lurching herself over the body, she stared at the face of her son in disbelief. She was right - they'd been too late. The smaller child of a scyther had passed away, with no help from the vulture who dare try to feast on this precious carcass.

"YOU!" Her head shot up at the bird, who looked angry at being interrupted. "You will PAY for what you've done!" The vullaby cocked it's head to the side. "Eh? I'm just eatin' a meal. He was already going to die anyway." It's words were over the line of acceptable. This was her son, but this stupid young bird would never understand such a thing. They were the terrible creatures that simply feasted on the remains of those precious members lost to the world, no care or concern for the devastation of their loved ones.

"Those will be your final words!" She rose off the ground and launched her assault. Overlapping her blades in front of her, she pushed them out and returned them back repeatedly, whipping together the wind. Quickly, she put together the attack and sent the vacuum wave hurdling over towards the bird. The she shook her wings at an increasing speed, creating a loud buzzing noise to focus in on her opponent. The bird was knocked back by the attacks, but shot forward to retaliate.

The vullaby was precise, moving in and closing the distance quickly. Its beak pushed forward, the sharp end threatening to tear at her flesh. It cut into her body, creating an open wound causing her to buzz in pain. Then again - and again - until it had attack five times, each hit landing and creating more damage on the scyther. It had been a rather harrowing attack, taking most of her stamina to withstand. But there was no way she was giving up now. The odds were stacked against her against this flying-type, but she would kill it or die trying.

CW: Gore TW: Signs of a panic attack

Ridley spluttered and wheezed as he stumbled forward in an approximate description of running. Once or twice Free even started to drift upwards, clearly afraid of being trapped under his body if he fell. Yet somehow, possibly through complete desperation, he kept up.

He skidded to a halt as the Scyther suddenly stopped. "M-miss? What's wrong? D-did the girl come ba-" He shoved his hands up as an absolutely revolting scent invaded his senses, gummy and bloody, and the worst part was the familiarity. Free turned her face away, only cracking her eyes open to see Ridley's face, he looked as if death was coming for him, "Dear, what's wrong?"

He grasped at the Comfey around his neck and pushed her off, earning a surprised squeal from the little Pokemon as she caught herself and drifted back up, "If it scares you, I can help! You know I can do this and-are you listening, dear!?"

He...he couldn't breath.

Ridley hunched over himself, slowly lowering until he was on his hands and knees. He knew there was a terrible, blood-splattered beast over him, but where, where was this terror stalking him from!? Another breathless gasp, he had barely started breathing in before a hiccup expelled his air. Unconciously, he started clawing at his chest, he needed to breath. Otherwise he'd die...

It's right there

Quite suddenly, tears started to well up and spill down his cheeks, and he still couldn't breath. Right now, anything seemed less terrifying than the blood and gore and lost memories of fright.

Meanwhile, Free had discovered that in terms of emotions, she could still be completely baffled. She had never, never seen any creature just pour with terror at such rate such as this. No that she seen somebody shut down like this, no prodding emotionally was awakening him from his helpless panic and pity bubbled up in Free's heart, the poor boy.

She startled as sounds of battle erupted, spiralling upward to meet the Scyther in the air. "You have our assistance." She murmured out of the side of her mouth, she wasn't sure Ridley counted right now, but the Scyther deserved to know. Her flowers fluttered, and a golden pollen flowed out and toward the Scyther, a Helping Hand sure to energize any strike. Briefly, Free looked down and noted Ridley. The Potion was still clutched in his hands, his face was white and sweat glistened in the light but his back was moving, so he was at least breathing now. Good.

Free dropped in the air, power forming at her lips. Without any fanfare, she let the wins throw her toward the demon bird and aimed a little kiss on its head with deadly intent.

@Drakka

CW: It's pretty tragic. Plus execution/death of vullaby.

The scyther, in all her distress, hadn't even noticed the human's panic attack, nor the fairy's attempt at calming him. Her sole focus was this bird - the cause of her child's shortened life. He could have survived - could have lived on, if he'd been left alone until she returned with the magic liquid the humans used. But here they were, and she would have to live on without him. What sort of life was there, in such sorrow. She couldn't think clearly on that now - all that mattered was killing this bird.

She hesitated a moment though, the pain of those quick gashes from the vullaby's beak stepping in. It was nothing fatal - after all they had been rather quick pecks - but it was certainly enough damage to warrant a little caution, for a moment at least. She leered at the bird as it fluttered back a few feet away, taking stock before continuing the fight. Though even as it turned and faced her again, meeting her gaze, it didn't seem to have any affect on her. It started to flap its wings, seeming ready to attack again.

Until the comfey came rushing in, face meeting the vullaby with a...kiss? No, it was a fairy. This was much more than a kiss. She watched the life, the drive of the bird wash out as the attack took effect, pulling the energy and life from the pokemon and giving it to the little ring of flowers. The dark-type fell off it's feet, the sudden loss of energy causing it to lose its footing, and laid there for a second, stunned. And she knew this was her chance.

She rose and hovered over to the body, nodding at Free. "Thank you. I'm going to end this. Please look away." She waited a minute, allowing the fairy to turn and to have a chance to get the human to look away. After that, she raised both blades and brought them down in a swift motion. carefully executing the final blow on the bird. This vulture would not harm another's loved one ever again. She turned, the deed done, and returned to the scyther's body, sitting on the ground next to him.

After a couple minutes of observing in silence, she turned her body and lifted up, scraping at the ground with her blades. In the way she loosened the dirt before pulling it towards herself, it could be gleaned that she was digging, in her own way. She'd barely noticed that the others were still there, and wouldn't unless the spoke up.

TW: Mentions and deception of a panic attack

By now, Ridley had clasped his hands over his ears and silently endured his own unrelenting terror. He didn't dare speak or that thing might hear him, nor open his eyes, what if he saw it and then it saw him, or if he moved, it'd definitely kill him or...or...what if he as just being an idiot again? Even with his solid thought, his stomach still rolled, and opening his eyes just greeted him to the sight of a shadowy being towering over the man.

He shuddered as another wave of fear washed over him, but he didn't miss that it was less chocking, it seemed whatever this being only he was seeing didn't have enough of a hold on him after all.

The whole process took only the duration of the battle, and his senses clicked into place just in time to practically taste the metallic scent in the air, and he gagged as the (very familiar!) smell forced its way down his throat. Had he been like that for that long!?

Just embarrassing yourself all the time

Immediately, he sprang up, palms turned up to wipe away the stinging tears that still refused to fade. Free fluttered over and cooed, tilting her head and releasing a wave of flowery scent...it made his heart hammer a little less, but didn't really change how he felt, a detail that caused Free to tilt her head and wrap around his neck, still releasing the smell in an effort to calm the boy...but she couldn't do much against it, it was time for mourning after all, and who was she to prevent that?

Ridley blinked at the digging Scyther, once again noting that his own hands would make the task easier. Shuddering like a leaf, he stepped into her line of sight and tilted his head toward the dirt, "May I?" If given permission, he'd kneel down and start clawing away the dirt but would instead stand away and observe if she didn't want his assistance.

CW: Child Loss

If her kind was capable of such a thing, the green pokemon would likely be crying at this moment. Of course, being an insect, she did not have tear ducts, so the dead, hallowed expression set into her bug-like face would have to be enough to convey her depression. Not that she was specifically trying to push out her emotions, but the intensity of her loss, no longer being slightly distracted by hope or battle, was truly setting in.

She would never see him grow up.

It made her head pound, the sheer intensity of the idea her child would never grow up, never learn to hunt, never find a mate and have his own children. The depth of the darkness swirling in her mind threatened to consume her, the bleak options for the future practically pointless compared to the dreams and hopes she had with him. It was all encompassing, barely a thought given as her blades worked at tearing the dirt from the earth. They slashed thoughtlessly, tearing the rough dirt and grass slowly, loosening it up.

She was torn from her thoughts as her senses screamed at her. Body freezing first, it took her a few moments to collect herself enough to look up. The human, was standing near her. But there was no malice, no ill-will in his posture. In fact, he almost seemed scared, even as the fairy laid around his neck. There was something solemn about his expression, and she watched as he spoke, motioning his head towards her task in the dirt.

A task in which she hadn't made much good progress. It was beat up and torn, that was clear, but she hadn't done much in the way of actually digging. But the human had hands, fingers, thumbs. Was he offering to help her? Already practically defeated and not wanting to fight at the moment, she sat back, her blades falling limp at her sides as she allowed the human to do what he will. His assistance would help her bury her poor child much more quickly, preferably before the sun goes down.

But after that? She wasn't sure what she would do. As he worked, she simply sat there, face focused on the dead creature as the silence weighed heavily down in the air.

Ridley wasn't a strong person, nor was he very big, but he was completing the task far better as a creature with actual hands meant for such a thing. It didn't take very long before a sizable hole had formed in the dirt, and Ridley puffed as he widened it out slightly.

He risked a glance toward the dead Scyther, flinching his eyes away the moment he got a grasp on its size and making a valiant effort to widen out the hole...it wasn't going to be the most sophisticated or perfect...grave, he could barely remember the word...but it would serve for this Pokemon's burial.

As he finished, he backed away, wringing out his hands, "T-there miss, it-it's good." A little voice followed his words, Free's voice, "It's ready."

@Drakka

CW: Child Loss Pain

Time passed rapidly as hallowed eyes stared blankly at pale hands that reached, pushing, pulling, and grasping at the dirt as the man dug out the grave. Her mind simply swirled in the horror, the devastation of it all collapsing any coherent trail of thought. Without any tasks, anything absolutely demanding her attention, she simply sat there, unable to pull together a string of words to define her emotions, to define the situation going on. There was nothing that would do justice to the pure depression she felt at her loss.

The child, its soul and life passed on from the carcass near them, lied still and unmoving as it would for the rest of eternity. Until his body was broken down, piece by piece in the unforgiving earth that gave them home here. There was nothing she could do now, except accept it, but that seemed impossible. It felt as though all life simply had no more meaning - after all, what reason was there to go on, without the creature she'd already lovingly and willingly devoted herself to raising? Memories of a time before him were practically non-existent in the cloudy depths of her mind.

But then, there was a voice yet again. Lower in pitch, but not terribly deep. A strange mixture of tones and sounds, nothing like her kind. She knew this sound, but how? The mist covering her thoughts starting to dissipate as she struggled to regain control over her body, pulling herself out of the deepening state she was quickly spiraling into, clinging to the single voice, those few words that so gently called to her. And then, another voice, with a new, higher tone but comprehendible to the creature this time.

It was ready. What was ready? She half returned to her sight, turning her head over to look. Right, the grave. How had she so quickly forgotten her last task? It felt as though eons had passed, and yet no time at the same time. The feeling was certainly disorienting, but she had one last thing to do for her child. One final act to protect him, and bring her a little piece of mind. Those vultures would not have her baby.

Using the flats of both blades, she carefully lifted the body ever so slightly off the ground, trembling in emotional pain as she slowly pulled the scythe from its place of death to the hole the human had dug out for her. It took much longer than it should, her eyes still lingering on the face of the deceased a minute after he was peacefully resting in this space, worried blades fixing at his body to straighten him out. It was a pointless endeavor, but also one that hardly required any given thought.

Once the mother was satisfied - or as satisfied as she could be, given the circumstances - she would use the flats of her blades again, hesitating as they position on either side of the grave, ready to push the dirt in and over the body. Slowly, she began pushing the dirt in, watching as grain by grain it slowly started to fill and cover the green of the child's body, more and more until eventually there was nothing left. It required a little detail work, to make sure any points or parts trying to stick out were safely covered, but eventually it was done.

And with it complete, she simply stared at the dirt covering the body, unsure what to do now that it was over.

The sadness in the air was palpable, especially for Free, who floated down as if weighed down and wrapped around Ridley's neck before giving up entirely on flying. Ridley didn't absorb emotions in much the same way she did, but he did look considerably bogged down as the burial went on.

He didn't even want to watch, not being a Pokemon certainly didn't make him feel like he wasn't intruding. Instead, he stared down at the potion in his hands, they were supposed to use it to sabe the baby, weren't they? But now the mom monster was just hurt, in more ways than one. He wondered briefly if it'd scar up like him, they'd be quite the pair...but shook it off, he still had the potion, he was going to use it.

Before he could talk himself out of it, he started approaching the Scyther, hugging the potion to his chest and teeth chattering slightly. Would she even allow it? Free looked up in worry, sadness still clouded her eyes but she seemed aware enough that Ridley was going to try something dangerous with a wild Pokemon. "I-it's ok-ok!" He spluttered, "I'm-I'm just g-going to he-help her...that's what I'm going to d-do..." Alternatively, he could just run from this clearly emotionally damaged Pokemon and not get possibly stabbed, but that would defeat the purpose of him leaving town in the first place...

He felt like dirt just by the fact he still wanted to catch this creature...cause you are...

The pragmatic thing would be to have Free attack or even just throw a Pokeball at the heavily hurt Scyther, but Ridley felt too sorry, and his head swam too much just looking at her injuries. He was going to help, and unlike his attempt with Sunny, he was sure this was going to work. "M-miss?" He tried to ease into the conversation as he approached, hoping the Scyther would turn around while he was still a safe distance from her reach, "Y-you're hurt and-and...I j-just wanna...um...u-use this on-on your wounds?" He held out the potion, trembling fitfully and nearly sighing in relief as Free chirped out, she seemed to be his translator recently, "He wants to help you."

True to his word, Ridley would use the potion if he was allowed to.

@Drakka

The exchange between the man and the fairy had gone unnoticed as the scyther continued to spiral into her shock and depression from the loss. Her thoughts swirled and clouded her thoughts, her judgment, everything. It was terribly crippling, a terror and dread feeling she'd never felt before. It felt almost impossible, as if she couldn't move, even if she wanted to. Even if she tried. The pain was all-consuming, and it seemed like her purpose for living had been ripped away.

So when Ridley made to approach her, she did not respond. While she hadn't turned to him to acknowledge his approach, she also did not raise her blades in a way to threaten him either, his shaky steps towards her left unopposed. It wasn't until he started addressing her, his strange language making no sense as usual, that she started to pull herself from her mind yet again. Why was it they were still here? Their business had been concluded, hadn't it? It was over, so she thought they'd leave her to her own despair.

The comfey translated, summarizing his trembling words into a succinct few. "He wants to.. help me?" The stinging pain of the wounds that the bird had inflicted started bothering her again as she became more aware of her body once more. It was certainly not great wounds, would definitely take some time and rest to completely heal, but not the point of the potion she'd acquired. But then, it wasn't as if her child could get any use out of it anymore.

At that realization, she turned her body, careful of the positioning of her body to allow him a good vantage point while keeping her blades safely away from him. She couldn't inflict injury upon this pair, who had helped her so much this day, even if her efforts had been in vain. As the healing solution was applied to her thin skin, she sighed, the relief of her body causing her to relax slightly, even if her emotional pain couldn't be cured so easily as her physical wounds. Still, the slight numbing of her pain was something.

She looked up at them, the fairy hanging around the man's neck. "But, I don't understand. Why help? Why stick around, when he could have left long ago?" She knew the human wouldn't be able to understand, so her buzzing was directed towards the fairy, the decorative flowers pulling her eye slightly as her gaze trailed off into space, thoughts focusing on this little puzzle of a creature he was becoming. Their acts of kindness were uncharacteristic of strangers met in the wild. She sought to understand their true purpose, but didn't have much energy for anything past posing the question.

Ridley worked as quickly as humanly possible, feeling more and more threatened by some unknown presence the longer he stayed close to the wounds. He worked without much fanfare, paying attention long enough to make sure the potion wouldn't get into the wounds before just freezing.

He wasn't sure what to do anymore.

"Done." He mumbled, scooting back slightly and swallowing heavily as he realized that it was pretty much now or never...he had to catch this Pokemon now...and he never felt so horrible.

Free herself focused on the conversation at hand, flowers quivering in an approximate display of a shrug, "I cannot read his mind, but he is sad. I believe this human doesn't want to leave you alone. Not with your sort of pain." Ridley kept his hands behind his back, impossibly, it looked like he was waiting for some kind of sign or permission firstly.

@Drakka

There was a small silence between them as the comfey's words were processed, the scyther's mind pushing to sort through the clouds plaguing her thoughts to consider her statement. His purpose, his intentions, could not be truly deciphered by either of them, the fairy having no ability to read the mind of the human. So what mattered now, what needed to lead her next steps, were her judgments and gut feeling. Analyzing his character and deciding where to go from here, since he apparently wished not to leave her alone.

It was too much to think about, at the moment. Her head was pounding as she attempted to think through the situation she was in, and the duo that stood over her. Though he wanted to apparently help, no true solution had been presented to her, the pokemon not realizing he held a pokeball behind his back. She only had light experience with the devices, but would recognize them on sight. But for now, she had to stick to her own ideas.

Pokeball or not, was this human wanting her to accompany him? To where? A human civilization? And for how long? The questions assaulted her mind, though all eventually led her back to the same realization: There was nowhere for her to go now. She had no purpose, at least for the moment. Following the human and fairy, it would be easier for her. And having company while she goes through this loss... well, part of her mind would prefer to be alone, but part of her would appreciate the souls to lean on.

If she could truly trust them with such a thing.

"What do you propose? What do you have to say on his behalf, being his bound partner?" In truth, she needed more information before she could make a decision on staying with the human, for any amount of time. Though there was always a chance the arrangement was temporary, with those strange devices there was no telling if she would have the chance to escape. It was an important decision, one she certainly wished she could do later, after she grieved.
