Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

((It's Magby tiiiiiiime rip Flash and Heather for the mandatory hot/dry day tho))

Summer was the polar opposite of Winter. Whereas Winter was liable to freeze your toes off, and kill you with ice running through your veins, Summer had the potential to be suffocating. Cold air you could practically feel in your lungs, while hot air was the kind you choked on. On particularly hot days, it was easy to feel like you couldn't breathe, especially if you added humidity on top of it. Fortunately, humidity was more a consistent plague of Great West Forest as opposed to Great East Forest. Still, the Summer heat spared no one across Terrene. Summer was one season that had its ways of touching every corner of the land, while Winter was repelled by the very nature of the land that Ashfield City and Oasis Village had been established upon.

Flash was not appreciating the searing heat that beat down upon him. With a borrowed fishing pole in hand, he was sitting down on a riverbank, that he could almost swear seemed lower than it had when he last came here. He was supposed to be doing his job and catching fish to give to his cousins' store to sell. Though, he wasn't getting even the slightest nibble. He was sitting on the side, so his shadow was cast away from the river, so he didn't think the fish would be scared away. So, he guessed all the fish were somewhere else. Flash lightly groaned. Heather was also staring intently at the river bank, knees bent and eyes determined, as if he planned to pluck any nearby fish straight out of the water. Though, Flash didn't think that Heather usually hunted fish, as he seemed to be more drawn to looking for food away from the water.

Flash wiped away with the back of his palm some sweat off his forehead. He absentmindedly licked at his dry lips. He absentmindedly if his skin could crack from the sheer heat and dryness of the day. He bet the fish were all hiding somewhere.... Lucky fish. Water was always cooler than the air. Still.... If there were no fish here, Flash had to go. Flash stood up with a grunt. "C'mon, Heather. Let's check another river."

Flash walked away from the riverbank with his borrowed fishing pole in hand, and Heather quickly speeding to walk at his side. The other river fishing spot that Flash liked to frequent that was nearest to his current location was still a ways away, he'd be walking through the dry, dry forest for at least fifteen minutes before he arrived at his destination.... That is, if he wasn't interrupted on the way.

Flash and Heather would be undisturbed as they made their way through the forest. Not many critters in the forest were interested in fighting a big bird with two heads. One head was enough, so with that they left the duo alone. It wouldn’t be until they arrived at the next river would they find a particularly interesting encounter.

By the water were two red creatures. One was ape like with a swirl of fur on its head that resembled a flame. It’s large ears would have likely heard the pair coming in his direction if he wasn’t so distracted. The second pokemon was a bit more odd than that. It had bulky sacs growing from its head and a duck like bill. It’s tail seemed that of a lizard and its belly was yellow with a shape that also looked like a flame.

The fire monkey was watching the duck-billed creature stand by the river bank, with his fist cocked backward. He was preparing to use some kind of attack on the surface of the water. The magby’s fist began crackling with electricity right before he thrust his fist forward to punch the water. The monkey that was watching cheered as he hopped up and down, rooting for his friend.

As the water splashed up, two small fish burst upward. Pansear and magby locked eyes with the two fish and before they could fall back into the water, the two snagged them out of the air and plopped them down on the ground in front of them.

“That was wicked!” the monkey cheered again.

The magby stood, proud of his achievement. Though he tried to seem like it was nothing. “I do what I do, ya know,” he replied with a smug look on his face.

Flopping on the ground, the two white and blue fish bounced in a panic. They needed to get back into the water or they were going to die of dehydration, if they weren’t eaten first. Their large eyes looking at one another as they nodded, agreeing to try and attack the fire type duo as a distraction to make it back to the water.

“Fire at will!” the male wishiwashi cried out. Both simultaneously shot a water gun each at the two fire boys, hoping to push them back, if not scare them off.

As Flash and Heather made it to Flash's other fishing spot, he could see that there was already some pokemon there... Instead of interrupting the scene, he held out an arm to stop Heather from advancing, and they watched from the bushes from a distance. There was a little monkey that reminded him of the one that had accosted him when he met Heather.... Though more red and fire-inspired, and Heather seemed to recognize it as well, appearing to be annoyed at the sight of it.... At least, Flash thought it looked like Heather was annoyed.

Beside the fire monkey was a weird lizard-like creature with a strangely shaped head. Flash gently shook his head. Pokemon came in a great many shapes and sizes.... Though some of those shapes had the capacity to be rather strange, Flash guessed that this lizard creature was one of the stranger pokemon. Though, glancing at Heather.... Flash supposed he was already well-acquainted with the potential for strangeness in pokemon. After all, Heather's species seemed to be one of a kind, with not many other pokemon sporting multiple heads. He'd heard there were a few, but generally pokemon kept to a single head.

Looking back at the display, it appeared the stranger looking Pokemon was able to strike the water with an electric-type attack. He thought that was an interesting way to catch fish, assuming they were after the fish in the river. Though, he admitted that if the first strike did not finish the fish, it alerted the fish to their presence. It could be difficult when the fish were difficult, and fish pokemon could sadly get the better of a fisherman who underestimated the fish.

His point was made unknowingly to the two pokemon on the riverbank when the fish they plucked out of the river attacked them. Flash sighed. He figured it was best to help the two pokemon.... Who seemingly did not make sure the fish were dead before chattering. At least, that's what it looked like to him. Holding his borrowed fishing pole in his fist tightly, he emerged from the bushes, trying to quickly make his way over to the fish. He slammed the handle-end of the fishing pole into one of the fish, hopefully to keep it from flopping away.

Heather joined in, and was trying to stab the other fish with his beak. "(Stop struggling.)" Heather grumbled at the fish who were seemingly trying to make their way back to the river to live.

Completely shocked by the retaliation of the fish pokemon, the magby and pansear were pushed back by the water guns. They did not like it one bit cause water hurt man! Especially in a jet or stream as such. Rain wasn’t so bad or a splash but hell, this was painful. It wasn’t clear if they could take another attack from the wishiwashi but they couldn’t let them get away. Charging in to land another attack from his electric fist, the Magby aimed to knock at least one of them out for good. The fire type halted as suddenly a human and his mutant bird appeared.

That thing had two freakin’ heads! What was even going on right now? The human came in with his long stick weapon and whacked one of the fish away from the water, keeping it from escaping. Sweet! The magby still had a chance to get the fish, but he only hoped the human wasn’t planning on stealing his meal. He had practiced this specific move to catch fish from his father and he didn’t want it to go to waste.

The pansear noticed the large bird pecking away at his fish. In his mind, the doduo was trying to steal his food for himself. Freaking out the monkey scream in a panic. “Thief! That’s mine!” he cried. The magby wasn’t really paying enough attention to the pansears fish to intervene, at least for now. But the pansear didn’t like what the bird was doing. He hopped over to give it a piece of his mind. “Hey you punk, get your own fish!”

Feeling like they were nearly done, the wishiwashi were in trouble. One was whacked by the human’s stick and now the magby had the opportunity to come snag her up. She prepared to attack once more in an effort to save herself. Firing off another water gun, she shot at the magby before he could land an attack or try to grab her. Meanwhile the male fish was jabbed in the tail by the doduo, getting caught in his beak. He still tried to flail desperately but chances were he was going to die.

Heather suddenly lifted his heads, and given that one of his beaks was stuck on the tail of the wishiwashi, he had to use his other head to turn to the offended Pansear who suddenly accused him. "(I wasn't going to take it, but you haven't killed it yet. A kill is only your's if you actually did it. You shouldn't have sat around talking about how wonderful your skills are when your prey wasn't even dead yet.)" He grumbled, before turning his second head around to peck at the wishwashi caught on his beak again. Given that the fish was in such a precarious position, Heather felt confident that he could easily kill this fish.... And he guessed hand it back to the fiery monkey so he wouldn't whine too much. Besides, Heather was perfectly capable of hunting his own meat. He actually.... Preferred meat from the dry forest than from the wet river in full honesty, even if it appeared that the human he partnered himself with was a fisher rather than a hunter.

Flash was hesitant to do anything further against the fish. Partially because it would make the kill rather sloppy and messy, and partially because it was more effective to use a weapon against a pokemon. However, he didn't have a knife or any of the sort of him. So he supposed... The only thing he could do was either watch or.... Shrugging, Flash slammed the fishing pole down on the fish again. There really was nothing else he could think of, not without a knife. Heather seemed to be handling the other fish fine.... If with what seemed to be protest from the monkey.

Hearing what the mutant bird had to say, the pansear calmed down a bit. He was right, he technically didn’t do anything but his friend had gotten the fish for him and in that moment he thought that Heather was trying to steal from him. As long as he was planning on giving it over, the pansear would allow the doduo to finish off the wishiwashi.

Magby was feeling pretty beat at this point. He didn’t know if he could take another water gun from the fish. He’d had to land one more attack to kill it for good and then he’d have a tasty fried fish for the day. Before he could prepare his fists for another attack on the wishiwashi, the human used its weapon to pin the fish to the ground. The magby halted his attack but continued over to it. He looked down at the wishiwashi who looked about done. The impact from the pole knocked it out and it was free to be killed and cooked.

Looking back up at the human, the magby waited for him to remove the poll from the fish. He wondered if the human was going to try to keep it for himself or hand it over to him. He noticed that the bird was pecking away at the fish that was meant for his buddy. Even if they agreed the wishiwashi was going to go to the monkey, he was too focused on almost dying to have heard the conversation.

“Um, are you going to move that thing?” the duck-billed fire type asked the human. Not that it was likely he could understand him but it couldn’t hurt to ask. Hopefully they were the sharing type. Magby wouldn’t mind getting more fish for them if they were willing to work together. He just kind wished they’d step back for a moment. Pansear rushed over to his buddy’s side. The two waited together to see what Flash and Heather would do.

Heather was glad that this monkey seemed.... More reasonable and less likely to get on and stay on Heather's nerves that that wretched monkey that he'd been forced to deal with when he met the blond human. He didn't necessarily have a high opinion of monkeys, considering that one had harassed the human before Heather was able to recapture the naughty primate. Regardless.... He found this one somewhat more tolerable. The fish was knocked out, so Heather took the liberty of finishing it off with a nip from his beak. He used his other beak to remove the fish from where it was caught, and then he tossed the wishiwashi at Pansear's feet. "(There.)" He said gruffly. "(I hope you'll remember to make sure your kill is dead next time.)"

Flash glanced down his fishing pole to see that the fish stopped squirming. It was either dead or unconscious. Though, it didn't make that much of a difference, since when the fish pokemon were knocked out, it was a simple manner of killing them. Then from there it was easy to prepare the fish for eating. Though, he didn't think pokemon in the forest took as much care to make sure the fish was tasteful before consuming it. He lifted the fishing pole, bent down and picked up the fish by its tail. It still felt slippery from the water, and the nature of its scales, but his grip was firm. Then he tossed the wishiwashi over to the strange red lizard-like creature. "It's your's." He said, though it was always the lizard creature's. He was not in the habit of stealing other people's kills, as everyone was trying to get food and he was sympathetic. Though, he would be rather stubborn and firm about those trying to steal his catches. Thankfully, that was not the case here, and thus he had no qualms returning the fish.

Magby and Pansear were relieved to find that the human and his bird were handing over the fish. For a moment they believed that they came to claim their catches but that wasn’t the case. “Thanks for all the help!” the lizard tailed pokemon, chirped at the human. He and the monkey were just about to grab their fish from the ground when suddenly a blue and white blur swooped down in front of them. The two fire types hopped back as the wishiwashi were gone.

Looking up quickly at the Flash and Heather, the monkey gave them a heated glare. “What trickery is this?!” he screeched.

The magby said nothing. He was too shocked by the feeling of betrayal. He knew humans could be horrible but this one seemed nice. At least that’s what he believed for a brief moment. Though it was odd that neither of them had the fish on them. Perhaps they quickly hid them? No...no one can move that fast.

“What did you do?” the pansear continued screeching as he hopped up and down.

Before Flash or Heather would have a chance to answer, a voice from behind them would call out. “Don’t be so hasty to judge,” it said. Hearing the slow voice speak, the fire types turned around to face where it came from. There, resting on a rock that was in the middle of the water with it’s tail in the water, was a pink blob of a pokemon. It’s face had a blank stare and curled ears. “The ones you seek are making their way down the river,” he continued.

Hearing what the slowpoke had to say, the magby and pansear looked down the river to see two birds flying down the bank with their wishiwashi. The little dish gripped tightly in their talons. One was two shades of blue while the other was mostly white with blue stripes on each wing. “We have to go after them!” Pansear demanded.

Magby turned to the human and his bird. “Please, you have to help us,” he pleaded.

The slowpoke spoke once more, giving the group something to think about. “You could chase them if you’d like. Or you could stick around and I’ll help you catch something better,” the blob offered. It was unclear if it was worth it but they had to make a decision before the birds were out of sight.

Flash didn't understand the words being said, but the chirping he assumed was appreciative. He merely nodded in response. He didn't think his words would reach them, but acknowledgement of their gratitude seemed reasonable. Heather simply grunted in response. He wasn't that impressed by either of them, given that they'd needed help to finish off two measly fish. Though, when the fish were suddenly swiped, Heather's gaze shot off, as both of his heads immediately began squawking indignantly in the direction that the fish had gone.

"(Hey!)" Came out in stereo from both of Heather's heads, and he didn't really notice the upset from the monkey. He was a little occupied, and was able to race after the fish, except when he glanced back the human's eyes were only following where the fish had gone. After all, they'd known they hadn't made the fish disappear, so they'd been stolen by wily and swift pokemon. Flash narrowed his eyes. He was not fond of anyone stealing prey.

At Pansear's secondary screeching, one of Heather's heads finally snapped its gaze at Pansear, with annoyance burning behind his eyes. "(We didn't do anything.)" He snapped, annoyed at the presumptions the monkey made. Heather was not fond of games like this, and he was insulted the monkey assumed that Heather would play with food like that.

Then both Flash and Heather's attention turned to the newest pokemon who arrived on the scene. Flash thought it looked a bit.... Absent-minded, though that could possibly just be how the pokemon appeared, and it was more intelligent than its appearance suggested. Perhaps it was allay suspicion, as often with dangerous predators, you could see the vicious intelligence glinting in their eyes sometimes.... Goodness knows he saw it in the eyes of some of his parents' pokemon.

Heather was able to hear what the Slowpoke had to say. He was glad that someone around was reasonable, though he could only hope that the hot-headed monkey would actually listen. Alright, so Heather didn't have a high opinion of monkeys, but in his opinion they didn't turn out to be very smart. Usually they seemed to get on his nerves. He had yet to meet one that broke that rule in his mind. Then Pansear wanted to go pursue the pokemon who had stolen the fish, and that had been Heather's instinct as well. Magby begged for their assistance in helping, except then Slowpoke said something else. Heather considered it. He looked to Magby and Pansear. "(You could pursue, but if you want me opinion.... Those fish are small and scrawny. Hardly worth the energy to get them back, besides they could already be consumed by the time we catch up to them. We could remain here, and even if....)" Heather cast a glance to Slowpoke with a single pair of his eyes. "(This one can't deliver, there are more fish in the river to be caught.)" Heather reasoned. "(We will help with that, but I am not willing to expend possibly unnecessary energy hunting down a pair of scavengers.)"

Looking frustrated at both the human and the doduo and then at the slowoke, the pansear couldn’t believe they were falling for this nonsense. He was a lazy blob that never caught anything. He just sat there all day with his tail in the water. The pansear turned to his friend who looked as if he was weighing his options. “I don’t know about you, but I’m going after our meals. You can waste time with this all you want.” With that the pansear sprinted off down the river bank after the water birds.

Magby remained behind. He was curious about what the slowpoke would do to help them. He wanted to know more about the human and the bird. The lizard tailed pokemon could tell they were only ever trying to help but it was his friend that was trying to lodge doubt in him. The magby wasn’t sure if the slowpoke could really catch anything but the Heather seemed to be confident they could.

“Alright, I’m up for whatever,” he said enthusiastically.

The slowpoke let out a calm expression of joy. “Excellent.” He gestured for them to come over with his paw. Whether they did or not, he’d begin speaking. “Now, there is something about my kind’s tail that is just delicious to fishies. I don’t know what it is but they’re always biting. I’ve learned to know if something is good based on the feeling of the bite,” he explained. He didn’t make any expressions as he stared at them with dead eyes. Just a smile on his face as he continued. “You can go ahead and try to fish on your own if you’d like, this is going to take a while. If you’re patient enough then you can have whatever I catch. If you decide you can’t wait then whatever you catch will have to do.”

Leaving them with a decision to make, Magby was likely going to go along with whatever they chose. He was there to learn which he enjoyed doing. The fire pokemon was patient and curious. Though he was honestly starving at the moment so he hoped this wouldn’t be too long.

Heather couldn't say that he was surprised by Pansear's decision, the impulsive monkey seemed to desire immediate results. Which was terrible impatient, and he didn't feel particularly optimistic about the monkey's chances of actually getting the fish back, especially not alone since Heather was not willing to help. He rolled both pairs of eyes as the fire monkey scampered off to go waste his time and quite possibly his life.

However, Magby seemed more open to it. That was good. Especially since he didn't simply go along with what Pansear had suggested. Heather nodded. He, alongside the Slowpoke, approved of Magby's open mindedness. It would likely suit him well, not only today but for days to come. At least, that was Heather's opinion. To Heather, a slowpoke didn't look super appetizing, though Heather would eat anything. He'd eat berries, lizards, rodents.... Honestly, whatever he could find. Though, he guessed what with his human partner he'd be forced to develop a taste for seafood... Even if it was really weird and slimy and wet. He guessed the tail of Slowpoke however was tasty to fish, though. They didn't look very intimidating, and if they ate seafood, he guessed there wasn't much else of a way to hunt.

Heather nodded, and walked over to the riverbank, though making sure that his shadow wasn't cast over the water. He intently stared at the water, to see if there were any fish he could force out of the water.... He didn't really have a better method, and he was not very experienced with hunting in the rivers for fish yet. Perhaps one day.

Flash sighed. "I suppose I'm here.... And this river seems to have more fish...." He murmured to himself. He had his fishing pole, though it was actually borrowed, and there was a river. He sat by the riverbank, and reached into his pocket for some bait. He always carried plenty of bait when he went out to fish. It was only a little bit of meat, enough to entice fish potentially. After attaching the bait to the end of the line, he cast the line. Now just to wait for a bite. Admittedly, there was a lot of patience needed for fishing. However, according to Adder, hunting required a lot of patience as well. Prey must be located, and then snuck up on. Even with a bow and arrow, the target must be within range to hit accurately. For Flash, it was simply a matter of waiting for a fish to bite. Then.... The fight with the fish would begin. Many fish could be rather..... Difficult. He was glad to have Heather nowadays.

Magby decided to sit by Flash and Heather as they fished together. It seemed that they were agreeing to the slowpokes terms. If they were patient enough to let him catch something, then they could have it. If not, then they’d have to take whatever they caught. The deal would end if they took their fish over his.

The duck-billed pokemon really wanted what slowpoke was attempting to fish up. He could just picture a big tasty fish, enough for all of them to chow down on. Mostly, him of course, they were doing this for him to make up for not following after the fish he had caught. The fire type even let his friend take off without him.

The slowpoke rested on his rock with his tail in the water as he stared blankly into space. Not a single muscle in his body moved unless it was to breathe. Not even his tail was being pulled by the river’s current. It just remained still as it sat there as bait.

After some time, Flash would feel a tug at his fishing rod. It wasn’t so strong but the fish was refusing to let go. If he wanted to reel it in he was free to though it would likely result in the slowpoke ending the deal right there. Magby noticed the tugging at the rod and seemed anxious. There was always the chance that slowpoke wouldn’t catch anything and if this fish got away, they may not get lucky later.

Flash got a little nibble on his line. He was going to pull it up, except Heather noticed, and approached. The approach caused Flash to stop. He wasn't sure why, but it seemed.... Important. Normally, he wouldn't stop, because it might mean the fish might escape with the bait. That was always a possibility. Though, Flash did his best to make sure it didn't happen very often, even if it did happen now and again still.... It was hard to eradicate undesirable outcomes, after all. Life was always a game of chance it seemed like.

Anyway Heather reached over with a beak, and it caused Flash's fishing pole to lean down a bit. The other head gently shook its head. Flash understood this to mean.... That Heather didn't want him to reel in this fish.... For whatever reason. He honestly wasn't sure why. He didn't think Heather was the type to squander a possible catch.... Still... He supposed he should take a leap of faith and just trust that Heather knew what he was doing. Flash sighed, and didn't reel in the potential fish. It would probably steal the bait and swim away instead. As soon as Flash was sure that there the fish had definitely stolen the bait, he pulled the fishing pole with no bait or fish at the end out of the water and set it down on the bank. It seemed that Heather didn't want him to fish right now. So, Flash sighed and laid down on his back. It was still hot and dry as shit, so he might as well rest a bit....

Heather had understood what the human wanted to do, though the human hadn't known about Slowpoke's deal, so he had to stop the human from reeling in any fish so.... Well.... The deal with Slowpoke would not be called off. Glancing over at Slowpoke, he really hoped that this would bear fruit. They had just passed up a fish in hopes that this lazy-looking blob would be able to net them something better.... He could only hope Heather hadn't made a mistake.

So, Heather sat back down on the riverbank, both pairs of eyes looking straight over at Slowpoke, waiting intently to see if Slowpoke would finally catch something.

@kira

Slowpoke watched to see if the human would reel in the fish. Though he attempted to his pokemon stopped him. The psychic type grew a grin on his face. He was proud of them for continuing to wait. He would deliver the fish promised and it was going to be good, he just knew it.

Magby was a bit disappointed that they let the fish go though. He knew why they had done so but he still partially expected them to reel it in anyway. At this point he would have just been happy with whatever they caught. The fire type would loved to have dived in to see what it was but water was not his element and he’d die before finding any good.

With the group giving up fishing, the first fish was able to get the bait off the line and eventually swim down the stream. It continued down the river never to be seen. Eventually a second fish could be seen splashing. This one was hard to see but if Heather had poked his head(s) in, he'd likely be able to snag it.

The magby hopped onto his feet and looked over the edge of the water. He couldn’t see what it was but based on the silhouette it was a good one. Oh man, at this point he didn’t even know if it was worth waiting for the slowpoke. Sure he promised a juicy one but the one that Flash could fish up here could be just enough.

It was up to the human and his bird. Slowpoke’s grin dropped, unsure if the doduo would ruin the agreement. It wouldn’t affect him really but he was just happy to have some company while fishing. He really wanted to reward this group for their patience. That is...if they were patient.

Heather was keeping an eye on things, and Slowpoke seemed happy that Heather stopped the scarred human from reeling on the fish, and convinced him to give up fishing for now. Heather cast a gaze up towards the sky. Hm.... Surely they could fish more after Slowpoke had left....? That was always an option.... Especially if Slowpoke disappointed them.

There was another fish that they could see disturbing the water's surface. Heather considered diving his heads in. He could potentially grab it if he really went for it.... Magby seemed similarly interested, jumping over to get a look at the silhouette. Heather tilted a head considering his options. Heather cast his gazes over to Slowpoke, before he sighed. He really, really hoped the fish that Slowpoke promised was going to be a good one.... Heather sat back on the riverbank, looking vaguely disappointed. What was the problem with catching as many fish as possible, plus the fish that Slowpoke promised? That would surely be more profitable, but instead Slowpoke insisted that they had to wait for what Slowpoke promised. Ugh.

Flash was still laying down in the grass, eyes closed because the sky was really bright and too bright to keep staring up towards the cloudless sky. He let out a deep sigh. He was beginning to grow a little bored.... Though, again it was nice to lay here for a bit. Despite the danger, Flash really liked sitting out in nature sometimes.
