Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

It's the most wonderful
time of the year- meaning, the time of Delibird gifts and of winter festivals! And as always, our plot events are still going strong.

Season

winter will be here until
March. Aside from the western Great Forest, which is too warm, and the Desert Strip, which is too dry, snow begins to fall across the region. The chill of the season has just about every area firmly in its grasp. Ice and Dark types become more common as the temperature drops and the daylight fades.

"Is tha' so?! " The crab was listening closely to their words, their tone. While he was certainly impatient about it, which was clear by his little feet tapping into the ground and his claws moving around in anticipation, he still heard what they said. And what he gathered was that the duck was certainly not going to fight - it was much too calm and factual about the statement, clearly not interested in defending its honor with a good o' brawl. But the way that seviper glared, he could read the anger and aggressiveness of the pokemon. He was confident the pokemon wanted to fight, even if he spoke differently.

But there was also the psyduck's completely incorrect statement to discuss first. "Fight to the death? That's too extreme and not what fighting should be about! I'm talkin' about sport, my friend. You fight to grow stronger, to learn new things and test your might, not to kill. Its about glory, and honor, not killing. No need fer anybody to be dyin' from a little spar!" His words were sincere, the fighting type wholly believing what he was speaking to the duck. There was no need for killing to happen in every fight that happened in the world. Else everybody would already be dead.

The litleo was a little calmer, laying down on her paws and relaxing once more. She'd try to get a little rest and hope that the crab would stick around this group, since it was pretty clear it would actually attack them unless they agreed to a friendly battle. At least he was reasonable about it, if annoyingly persistent. Still, the battle of will between the snake and crab would be entertaining to see, at the least. She was curious how this would unfold, but she was more just happy to lay under the sun and relax, rather than wasting her breath on the crabrawler.

Whom was still not going to be moving. He started right back at Venom, refusing to get out of their way. "Out? Out of what? You gotta be a li'le more clear than tha'. I am not backing down! If you must cowardly refuse the fight, you can walk around and I'll know ya for what ya are. But I am not the one here who be turning down a good fight!" True to his word, if they simply walked past him, he would make no move to get in their way. However, he refused to damage his pride by getting out of their way, as the snake tried to turn down a fight while trying to be threatening. The contrast certainly wasn't working on him.

Venom's patience was wearing uncomfortably thin. This crab was incredibly annoying and tearing down his nerves, and it was wrecking what little self restrain the poison-type possessed. By nature, he did little to consider consequences and often leapt (or rather slithered) into sticky situations without a second thought. He wasn't even really considering the repercussions even now. He was mostly thinking that the red-haired human would probably be kind of pissed and well.... Ugh. He didn't really want to upset her. "(What's the purpose of sport?)" He impatiently shot back. "(The only kind of fight I care about is where my foe ends up dead.)" His final word being snarled more angrily than the rest of his statement. He was fairly sure his homicidal intentions were being aired loud and clear, and if this dumb ass crab couldn't understand that, then that wasn't Venom's problem. "(Oh, you're right, there is no need. But I want my enemy dead. I want to be their killer.)" He emphasized, barely noticing Sai back away a few steps from his intensity.

With the crab's last words, Venom's patience shattered like glass. Without warning, the poison-type lunged forward, jaw open wide ready to snap down on the crab should the crab not be able to dodge in time.

Sai sighed. She'd... Probably chip in. At some point. As for right now, she was probably fine sitting back. She sat back down on her rump.

Ri was watching Venom get angrier and angrier, and she slapped her palm against her forehead when Venom lunged for the crab. The Seviper was likely a little too angry right now to calm down or pull away from the fight. So instead of trying to intervene, since she had no reason to believe that Venom would lose, she backed up several steps and sat down on the ground, focusing her attention on the small Bitzle in the basket.

"Hey, Arashi...." Venom would be fine, she just needed to make sure no one tried to eat Arashi. She was peacefully dozing, since apparently... Babies couldn't stay awake for too long. Ri couldn't help the snort that escaped her. 'Rashi was fucking adorable. Well, she was reasonably sure it was decided now. Anyone tries to fucking touch this adorable zebra, she will punch them out no question. Remembering her knife, she added a stabbing to her mental promise.

The litleo sighed deeply as the snake fell for the crab's taunting. She couldn't say she approved of killing everyone you passed - which seemed to be the morals of this little group - but the crab pretty much had it coming. It was unfortunate that the pokemon who, despite wanting to fight, was actually more morally sound was probably going to die. And possibly from being outnumbered, if nothing else. She simply stood up and started padding away, having no interest in watching this or getting involved.

The crabrawler was surprised, not thinking that of all things those final comments would set him off. But, at least he would get his battle, yes! It didn't seem to bother him much that they wanted it to be to the death. In truth, he hadn't lingered on it - but a death while fighting was a good way to go, to him. So, even if this ended poorly for the little crab, he knew that he had no regrets about it. He would have peace of mind knowing that he died honorably.

As Venom lashed out, jaw wide open and ready to bite, the crab simply stood and waited, preparing his own attack. The physical attack would pull the snake in close to him, which was good for him. The snake bit down into the hard shell, cracking it in a couple places and drawing blood. The crabrawler retaliated as the snake was sinking his teeth in, letting go a burst of sharp bubbles from his mouth, moving to close the short distance and splatter against the snakes skin, packing more punch than bubbles even had a right to.

The only one who really took note of Litleo's departure was Ri, briefly lifting her gaze to see the fire-type leaving the scene. She shrugged. One less source of interference, and she returned to fussing over Arashi. She wondered what 'Rashi would eat when she was older and capable of digesting solid foods. She felt that it was probably.... Berries or something. Arashi seemed hardly able to stand up when awake, which was to be expected of the newborn, and honestly... The rounded basket probably didn't help too much. She briefly lifted her eyes to see Venom battling with the Crabrawler and narrowed her eyes, keeping as keen an eye as she could on the battle and the Seviper's condition.

Venom's fangs successfully sunk into the crab's shell, drawing blood from the crab. As he released his jaw, preparing to strike again, when suddenly bubbles of all things burst against his scales, causing pain to blossom in the struck areas. Why the hell were bubbles a valid attack?! Never mind that, with an angry and hurt hiss, he yanked his tail blade forward, moving to retaliate, his tail blade flashing violet. After his first strike, his tail would take on a darker shade, as he struck again, exerting effort to attack in quick succession. He was feeling a little more murderous than usual today.

Sai was continuing to hang back, not wishing to get in Venom's way. He hadn't requested her help, so she didn't think she'd try to strike the crab, lest she accidentally hit the poison-type and piss him off. Still... Venom might get pissed off if she remained idle. She opted for a more passive action. Taking a few steps forward, making sure to be in Crabrawler's line of sight, she waggled her tail. There. That should help.

Both of his opponents, who were apparently going to gang up on him, were simply flailing their tails at him. The little ducks seemed really off, with threw him off a little bit. Why would the duck do that? What would it accomplish? But the seviper's bladed tail made much more sense. The poison tail attack came crashing down even as another spray of bubble released from the crab to retaliate against the snake.

But with that hit, he was already feeling a little weary, and pretty much beaten. Before he could so much as skitter a few steps away, the dark attack him hit, which aided in putting a little more distance between the two of them. Which was good. Despite his borderline positive feelings about getting killed in battle, he didn't actually want to die today. There were too many fights in the future that he needed to fight, too many others to spar with and learn from.

So he spoke quickly as he moved further away. "I concede defeat. You are the victor. Carry on with your great travels. Without another word, he turned and skittered away as fast as his legs could carry him. He was moving perpendicular from the path they had been moving, so that they wouldn't be inclined to follow. Clearly their interests were in continuing the journey, not in hunting down pokemon. If they were to try and kill him, they'd have to take a detour first.

Venom's slashing attacks successfully both met their marks, tearing through the crab. He was completely ignorant of Sai's contributions to the short fight. Though, his fighting prowess proved to be superior, as the crab was fleeing. Though, the whole running away rather than staying still so the poison-type could kill him was annoying. With a hissed outrage of "(Where the fuck are you going?!)", he was about to follow when he felt a strong tug at his tail. He sharply turned his head around to glare at the duck, who to her credit, only sort of flinched under his mean stare.

She swallowed. "(You can't go after him. We're still traveling right now?)" When Venom huffed and turned his head to the side. Sai sighed. "(.... Okay, do you want to give him the satisfaction that you think he's important enough to hunt down and kill?)" She was beginning to understand that... You really had to poke Venom's pride to get him to do things. Such things left a slightly sour taste in the water-type's mouth, but it appeared to be necessary.

Venom grumbled, but finally acquiesced. "(... Fine. We'll keep going.)"

Ri looked up to see the crab run away, no doubt thanks to Venom's battling. She took a sharp intake of breath when it seemed like Venom was about to give chase, but thankfully Sai talked the poison-type out of it. She let out a deep sigh of relief. "Alright. Looks like we can head onward." She tilted her head and looked down at Arashi, who seemed to have slept on through the crab's escape. A ghost of smile passed Ri's lips for a mere instant. The redhead stood up, picking up 'Rashi's basket and holding it close to her chest.

Then she had a thought. She put down Arashi's basket again, and pulled out the map and compass again. Trying to juggle all three items in her arms would be a.... Task. In the end, she settled on trying to hold Arashi's basket with one arm, and trying to manage the map and compass one at a time with her other arm. She imagined the map would be incredibly crinkly from all the times she would keep shoving it into her pockets and yanking it back out to switch it out with the compass. Still! She was making an effort to not get lost....

She wasn't keen in trying to defend a very edible baby for longer than she had to. Mostly because she was afraid she was going to fuck up and 'Rashi would be eaten before she could even be called a day old.

With the awkward arrangement set in her arms, she began walking again. Venom seemed to be trailing behind a bit, tired out from the battle because bubbles are deadly apparently, while Sai walked perfectly at her side.

With the crab and lion out of their way, and no other pokemon in the immediate vicinity, the group was left to continue along their path peacefully. The mountains were still quite a ways off, as was the city that was nestled close to the mountain and waters edge, but the faint inklings of the one true mountian would appear on the horizon as they continued. Still quite a few days before she'd get there, but clear progress was being made.

As they continued through the tall grass, nothing else would appear to bother them for the day. The sun would start to set, sending an array of warm and gradually cooler hues across the sky as the light started to fade to dusk. They could try continuing their travels through the night, risking night predators and lack of sight, or choose to make camp and continue their journey in the morning.

Time passed, and not much transpired. Nothing had appeared since the aggressive crab, and Ri was pretty sure that was a good thing. Boring was safe. Even if it drove her a little crazy, she just needed to keep putting one foot in front of the other, amidst the tall grass. Well, that and keep checking the map and referencing the compass, to minimize her chance of getting lost. Even if this was her first time and she was going it alone... She should be able to get to her destination fine, right?

From time to time she chanced a glance at the horizon, towards her final destination. Well, she wouldn't be heading there quite yet. One leg of her journey at a time. Still... The sun slowly crawled across the sky as Ri made tracks through the grassy plain.

Eventually, the temperature lowered with the sun. She yawned, which shouldn't have been surprising. A restful night wasn't something she could recall. Every night she either skipped out on sleep, in a feeble attempt to run from her nightmares, or she faced her nightmares and lost every time. Regardless, even if she managed enough sleep to not drastically affect her physical performance, it surely wasn't doing her anxiety and paranoia any favors.

She stopped. She set down the map, compass, and Arashi, who had woken up only to doze off again eventually during the day's journey. She guessed babies needed more sleep... And with frequency. She almost envied the peaceful sleep of her companions. None of them seemed to be as disturbed at night as she did. She guessed they didn't have demons haunting their nights (real demons, not the crap the superstitions claimed).

She pulled out her tent from the bag, setting it up. It was still somewhat muddy and damp. She'd probably be able to clean it all off sometime. Hopefully. Still, it functioned as it should. After setting the tent up a few times, there was less fumbling and hesitancy in raising it. Once the tent was raised, Ri moved herself, her belongings, and her traveling companions inside. Well, she ushered her traveling companions inside. Aside from Arashi, whose basket she simply picked up and moved inside. As night was falling, it was time for sleep.

Venom curled up on one side of her, and Sai lay on her side on her other side. She held Arashi's basket close, curling around it best she could. The redhead fell asleep to the gentle sounds of breathing, sleeping bodies.

Her nightmares never took a vacation. Given Arashi's new existence, it seemed to only give her frightful mind more fuel for her nighttime demons. She woke up with a start, and her sudden response and panic had awoken Arashi. Who'd started crying and disturbed Venom and Sai. She did her best to comfort the young electric-type, holding her in her arms. She had no idea how to comfort a baby, but she did her best. She tried a lot of gentle soothing tones. It.... Took a while, but Arashi eventually calmed down. Venom had nearly immediately gone back to sleep when Arashi had begun crying. Sai had awoken, but seemed to have a great more interest in Arashi's state of mind. Arashi didn't seem to want to still sleep... And it occurred to Ri that 'Rashi was hungry again. So, she fed Arashi again... With another one of those heart-shaped pink berries and a strange curled purple and yellow berry that was sweet in taste as well. After that, Arashi settled down and.... Well... Eventually went back to sleep after suckling on the cloth.

So, Ri and company went back to sleep. Minus Ri. She didn't think she should sleep with.... Arashi and all. She didn't mind, since her nightmares sucked.

She felt guilty that her haywire emotions and inability to get a good night's rest had screwed with Arashi. She kind of wanted to slam her head against a wall, but there weren't really any walls to slam her head against in the open plains. Hours passed, with Ri checking outside every so often. And well... Having to use more and more berries to feed Arashi through the night. Eventually, she'd seen the light of day peek out from the horizon. So.... It was just time to go onward. She moved Arashi's basket outside again, Venom and Sai following her out. Ri collapsed the tent again, shoving the less damp tent back inside the bag. Making sure Arashi's food cloth (as she dubbed it in her mind) was soaked with food juices again... She took up the somewhat uncomfortable arrangement of holding Arashi's basket, the map, and the compass all at once (sort of). She took a deep breath, and checked the map, while verifying with the compass. Once she was.... Reasonably sure of which direction she was meant to head in, she began to walk again, Venom and Sai following behind as they always did.

As they packed up to get ready for another day, the group would be able to see the heavy clouds rolling in. They were dark and threatening, though spared the young woman as she wrapped up her camp. The grasses rustled with a bit of wind, the subtle sound of the blades beating against each other filling the air as it picked up. It was the early signs of a storm coming on, as the sky continued to darken above, looming high above.

They wouldn't make it very far before the rain would start to drizzle, quickly building up over the next half an hour. Soon enough, it would be pouring. In the open plains, there wouldn't be much cover unless she chose to camp out in her tent while the storm passes. To make things worse, the rumblings of thunder would start in the background. As time passed, it would grow louder and louder, the flashes of electrictiy lighting up the sky as the storm raged over the plains, making travel difficult and potentially dangerous.

As Ri glanced up as she walked through the plains, she could see the beginning of that dark plume of clouds approaching. The stormy clouds seemed to be a shady mass curled up in and around itself, making for a menacing sight. It was disturbing, but Ri had lived through rain... Even if Arashi hadn't. Besides, it wasn't raining yet. She was still moving on, even as the daylight was smothered by the clouds, dimming the redhead's surroundings.

Though, it didn't take too long for rain to begin to fall. As the misting rainfall began to thicken, Ri gave in. She stopped, and set up her tent again, as the drizzle thickened into downpour. Then she ushered Venom and Sai inside, carrying Arashi's basket inside along with herself. She was worried about Arashi, who seemed to be shaking from the cold rain. She removed her olive green jacket, and wrapped up the young electric-type in it. It... Struck Ri as an imperfect way to dry the Blitzle, due to the fabric type, but it was better than nothing.

She glanced out of the tent from time to time, and was able to see that her concern wasn't unfounded. Rolling thunder came pounding, closer and closer... Lightning rending the sky, appearing closer and closer. Yep, nope. It was better to wait out the storm, and hopefully not have the tent be struck by lightning and set on fire.

She didn't have much to do, other than babble to herself and Venom and Sai, and well... Fuss over Arashi and make sure her food cloth was filled with berry juice from the berries Ri carried.... Since little 'Rashi needed to be fed frequently, apparently.

The storm raged on through the day, minutes turning to hours as the lighting flashed across the sky while rain pelted the durable material of her tent. The sound was deafened against the suspended fabric, but at least they remained safe. It was said that getting hit by lightning is one of the rarest things to even happen to someone. Luckily for Ri, her tent would not become one of these chance instances.

Unfortunately the rain would keep on through the majority of the day, not allowing the group to get much of anywhere for the day. It would certainly delay their arrival, assuming the young woman decided to continue to hold their safety above that of getting moving. As evening set in, which would be difficult to tell with the constant darkness cast by the clouds, the storm would relent a bit, the thunder and lightning coming to an end and the rain getting a bit lighter, but still coming down into the night.

The storm didn't seem interested in allowing Ri to progress onward. That was annoying... But she guessed there was nothing to be done. Nothing to do but wait out the storm. Sai and Venom killed time by speaking to one another, Ri only being able to guess at the conversation via the tones they used. The amount of volume, the softness or snarling of their voices... Little signs of body language. It was only by putting together small pieces of the puzzle that the redhead could have a single inkling as to the intentions of the duck and snake.

The storm persisted for hours and hours. It was damn annoying. At some point, Ri held Arashi in her arms. Then the Blitzle had squirmed out. Then proceeded to stumble awkwardly and flop on the ground a bit, but getting the hang of walking fairly quickly. Alright, so apparently zebras can walk almost at birth. That was... Interesting. She guessed... Arashi might not need the basket unless she gets tired. Ri decided to keep carrying the basket around. For zebra-carrying purposes and all that.

Sai seemed to be gladdened by Arashi's apparent ability to walk. Venom... Seemed grudgingly satisfied. Ish. Ri felt that... Satisfied was a rather strong word. The poison-type seemed rather grumpy about Arashi's whole existence, actually.

The dumbass rain and lightning kept flashing and pouring forever. Ri didn't have a surefire way to measure time, but she was willing to bet that the storm had consumed the rest of the day. Ri groaned, and ended up taking up guard duty, she supposed it could be called, as Sai, Venom, and Arashi all went to sleep. The redhead wondered when she'd be able to get some semblance of sleep... Hopefully soon. She wondered how much trust she could place in Venom and Sai in terms of Arashi's safety.....

Nevertheless... Even if she didn't know it for sure, she was in that tent waiting for the storm to pass, even as night fell.

The rain continued as the hours passed by, but during a time she likely assumed was night, the lightning at least stopped. A few stubborn rumblings could be heard in the distance for a bit longer, before even that would fade away until nothing could be heard anymore but the constant rain dripping on the test. Water travelled along the ground, flash flooding a bit and pushing against the edges of her tent as it ran down the plains, flowing as it was inclined to do.

As the night dragged on, whether the young woman had manged to find some peace of sleep throughout her own distress and the demands of a newborn trapped in an enclosed space but free to it's own mind, she'd find that the rain started to pitter out, eventually going away completely as the moon hung in the sky, marking that it was still night out. It would only be a couple hours after that until the sun would start to rise, the weather cleared up enough to allow them to continue on their journey to the mountains.

But as she got out of the tent and looked around, she'd see something that definitely hadn't been there when she'd set up camp. Off to the side, no more than 30 feet away, was a large creature made of hard, jagged plates. The plates were grey and rocky, with a horn sticking out of the front of its snout. For the moment, it seemed to be sleeping, eyes closed and laying on the ground. But if the party wasn't careful, they could risk disturbing the creature from it's sleep.

The rain continued on and on and on. Fucking annoying. Still.... Ri didn't leave her tent, in spite of how it flowed with the forces against it. She stayed, and held Arashi close. She kind of... Kept trying to wander outside the tent and she was not allowing the young Blitzle outside. It was really rainy and horrible outside and she didn't want to accidentally lose the baby, all because she was being an irresponsible little shit. So, she held her tight, lest she squirm out of her grasp. Young Arashi seemed a bit... Energetic and unfazed by the unknown. Was this normal baby curiosity? Would this fade with age? She dreaded the possibility of Arashi remaining as curious, fearless, and energetic as she grew. What kind of trouble would she attract? She and Venom were already shitty enough at not stepping on toes!

Regardless.... Time went on. Ri did not sleep, even as Sai, Venom, and eventually Arashi as well all slept instead of she did. Well... Arashi kind of woke up in intervals, crying out for... Whatever. So, Ri did her best to feed and give Arashi something to drink. She actually ended up dumping a potion bottle and filling it with rain water from outside, soaking another strip of shirt she tore from her top, for Arashi to drink from. Dehydration was as big and important a danger as starvation, after all. Even when the rain stopped in the middle of the night, Ri didn't want to go out until it was light outside.

Luckily, it wasn't too long. Well, not excessively long. When the sun finally rose again, it seemed that the weather was fit to travel in once more. Though, when she peered outside of her tent, she noticed something wrong. A snoozing beast of rocks that she did not want to fucking disturb. So, she popped into the tent. Made sure that Arashi was suckling on cloth instead of making noises, and shushing Venom and Sai, who hopefully got the message. As quietly as she could, she ushered each of her group out of the tent, and gently lifting the basket up and out of the tent. Still doing her best to be as silent as possible, she put away the tent and got ready to get back on the move. She did her best to shuffle away as fast as possible in the correct direction (probably, according to map and compass.....) without disturbing the Rhyhorn and having it sped her way and kill them all.

Thankfully, Venom actually listened for once, if a tiny bit reluctantly, and didn't attack the rock-type. Small mercies, she guessed.

Luckily for Ri and her team, the quiet rustling as she put away her tent and shuffled her pokemon around didn't seem to disturb the sleeping predator. It's body rose and fell as it breathed deeply, encompassed in a slumber that would be safe from interruption today. Their efforts to go undetected would prove fruitful, and the four of them would start moving, stepping across the ground and away from the rhyhorn. It wasn't long before they were out of its range of sight completely.

The rest of the day would go rather uneventful, though the day was long. The hours stretched on as they walked, the sky above decorated with a spattering of clouds but none that seemed too fearsome or threatening. Any darker hued clouds stayed small and separate, keeping their journey forward moving today as opposed to the day before. The sun rose and fell in the sky, the light of sunset starting to gaze over the plains, the hills that marked the beginning of the Rolling Mountains coated in the warm orange light as dusk started to approach.
