Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

This battle takes place just within Crater's outside wall, on the southwest side. It is a simple dirt road, just wide enough for an average wagon to pass through. There are houses on one side, and the wall on the other. The wall is approximately seven feet high, and the houses just a bit taller. Feel free to use your environment to your advantage. Good luck, combatants! The deadline for this round is June 13th.

So, here Ri was. She'd heard of a tournament taking place last year, but only thought to join up this year. Last year she'd scoffed at the idea of making pokemon fight for sport. But now... She figured it might be a good idea so perhaps Venom could... Well... Do his thing, and it was what he was supposed to do. Though, she hoped to not have a repeat of that close call at the Anniversary Fair joust with Sasha. Probably not, but still that little spark of worry lingered. Ri took a deep breath, shifting her foot in the dirt. The battlefield almost outside Crater, just barely within its walls. It wasn't the biggest sort of... "Arena", but she figured it would work. She thought about Venom would fare... And he'd probably be restricted to this area. So, if his opponent turned out to be a bird or a pokemon that could climb... Venom might experience some troubles. She was sure he'd be fine, though. Probably. Probably fine. The wall was way too high to be anything but a hindrance to Venom, since it was approaching as tall as Venom was long. Yeah, no. Venom was going to be restricted to this space. With a wall on one side and houses on the other... That was how things were going to go.

Ri reached up and pushed a lock of hair behind her ear, gazing forward, as Venom slithered past her and stopped a short distance in front of her. She imagined he was impatient and eager to get started, since he always seemed interested in a good fight. Even if the fight wasn't really good. Anyways.... All they were waiting on was their opponent to show up and then the fight would start. Honestly, while she was waiting, she couldn't help but speculate a little in her head. Would Venom win? Lose? Honestly, she'd seen different fights go different ways. Though, she wondered. As of late, in tough battles, Venom usually had Sai to assist. That wouldn't be the case, and he'd be on his own like he'd been since before Sai had grown to match him in terms of strength. She wondered if he'd notice, and if it'd be a hindrance at all. Possibly not, since he and Sai acted fairly independently, and didn't do much of anything in sync. Their strategy seemed to boil down to strike until it falls. Well, more like Venom's strategy. Sai tended to lean towards less aggressive tactics without Venom's pressing influence.

Ri wondered if it'd be rude to be sitting in the dirt by the time her opponent got here. Maybe? Did she want to be rude? She was still mulling it over.

Ri vs Shae
[Kira & I have decided to go Modless ~]

With the directions fresh in her mind to the place for the first battle, the woman walked forward. She was following the wall now, as she'd been told her first spot would be near the wall. It seemed easy enough to be able to find that way, but she needed to be sure she didn't miss her opponent. Though there would probably be spectators, she wasn't sure how many would stick around after the first round in the morning. Even more, she'd heard someone well known within Crater City was competing. He was big, strong, and very experienced.

And someone she'd went on a date with, if she remembered his name and description correctly! The name had rung a bell, and the tall stoic man was hard to forget. He left quite the sturdy impression on her. She wouldn't have been too concerned about it, if she hadn't heard that Cynth had been paired against him. She had full confidence in her friend of course, and told her just as much. But still, the rumors and gossip she heard around town weren't exactly very comforting. She dearly hoped that the woman would be able to pull a win out of the tough battle.

In her arms, the little yellow mouse wiggled, head turning to and fro. Her ears were whipping around as she did so, zipping her gaze at all of the things around them. She was a curious soul, and this place was so much different than anything she'd ever seen! She was just so excited, continuing to switch her focus repeatedly, not keeping her eye on anything for more than a couple seconds at a time. Despite her intense fascination, she lacked the concentration to sit on one thing. She simply had to see all of it, and she wouldn't rest until she did!

Shae shook her head, thick raven curls bouncing this way and that as she did so. She needed to get herself in the game and focused on her own battle. No amount of idle worrying would help Cynth now. Her own battle was coming up, and in the spirit of the first, she decided to follow the same first choice as last year. Unfortunately she hadn't heard anything about Elka joining the tournament again, but she had heard another name she was familiar with. Her first opponent was Ri, the name of the young woman who didn't seem to enjoy chatting, or dating much. They'd went on a date, and met prior to that as well, and neither encounter had been entirely positive.

Their date had actually not gone to badly. The start was rough, but as they got talking the woman had felt like she was warming up a bit. Her words seemed curt as ever, however not everything was an insult, and that was enough of an improvement for her. They'd gotten along well enough to get through, and she was excited to see her again and see how she was doing. Though, despite any friendliness she might show, she didn't intend to lose. She was reigning champion after all, and she wasn't about to let anyone take that title too easily. Not even a friend!

As she got closer to the battlefield, she eventually spotted the redhead. She was waiting with a pokemon in front of her, the one Shae assumed was likely who she was going to battle with. It was a large, dark colored snake with quite the fangs. She was suddenly glad that she hadn't decided to bring Seb into the battle. Much as the bug was tough, she didn't want him anywhere near those things. Neither did she want the ghost near them either, but she hadn't actually decided if she would ask her to battle in this tournament or not. She was still considering that or not, as the pokemon was terribly shy and wouldn't like the spotlight.

Mar would likely not have been intimidated at all, but neither would Kay. Mar was too egotistical to worry about it, and Kay was... well, Kay. It didn't seem to be bothered by much. Still, she'd decided on who to use before coming here. She raised a hand after adjusting the pichu carefully, waving towards the woman. The onlookers nearby started to focus in as the second participant appeared, preparing for the battle. They spoke in hushed whispers as she started her greeting to her opponent. "Hello Ri! It seems we've been paired up yet again. What a happy coincidence!" She smiled brightly as she moved towards her place on the battle field, her free hand falling to her belt to pull at one of her balls.

"Though it seems this time our pokemon will be doing most of the work. I wish you luck! I'm not going to let you win without a proper fight, after all." Her lips curled in a more fierce smile, the competitive woman ready to battle. Her pokemon trained all the time, and she was confident in their abilities. However, she knew better than to overestimate her opponent, so she was ready to tune in and build a strategy as they went, hoping that they could pull off a win and move on to the next round. She would do her best to try and pull another win for another year.

"Alright Kay, let's show them what we've got!" With a flourish, she lifted the ball in the air and activated the button. The red light flashed, earning a surprised squeak from the infant in her arms. It formed into the steel creature, the two gears turning into each other as a duo of blank expressions stared out, looking at Venom with half-hearted curiosity. Though it did not act, not wanting to move unless asked to. And hopefully, it wouldn't be asked to. "Would you like the first move, or shall I have the honor? Whichever you prefer is fine by me!" She waited for a response, ready to get this show on the road. After all, as an aspiring performer, every appearance was a performance in itself.

Ri had certain.... Feelings regarding her chosen opponent. Shae. Who apparently didn't have as vivid a memory as Ri, who remembered their encounters crystal clear, with minimal haziness edging their first encounter. Granted, that was only two encounters... But this made three. Honestly, she was mildly irritated that for some reason she kept running into Shae. Last season she'd been set up on a.... Ugh... Date with her, which... She guessed could've been worse, but she still didn't particularly like spending any time with Shae. She guessed she could count her blessings that this time... There was no expectation of socialization. It was a tournament, and the minimum was civility she was pretty sure. Alright. She could do that. Don't be too much of a dick. She could totally do that. Alright. Yes.

Looking at Shae today, she was carrying a Pichu... That looked like a baby. She guessed that Shae wanted to keep the kid close. Made sense to Ri, since she would never leave Arashi or Yuki alone. She left Arashi with Venom that one time, but that was because she knew that Venom would keep her safe. That, and it was in a camp.... Where hopefully no predators would come and eat said baby zebra. Anyways, as for right now.... Sai was watching from behind Ri, watching over Yuki in her basket, and Arashi who was thankfully sitting.... If squirming a lot, because Arashi had a hard time sitting still unless she was too exhausted to move. Ri was thankful, and hopefully Sai could keep Arashi back. She did not want Arashi rushing forward and getting killed by either Venom or one of Shae's pokemon. She wasn't sure if Shae's pokemon were as friendly as the woman herself, or if some ran completely counter to Shae, being aggressive and hostile pokemon. It was possible. She thought about Sasha... Who had a completely different personality to Blue, who she wasn't sure was capable of anger. She always seemed so conflict avoidant, meanwhile Sasha was.... Well... She was a bit gung ho, and seemed ready to fight, honestly. Not to the extent of Venom, but she was still surprisingly fight-y for a sheep.

Then Shae began speaking to Ri. Who just shrugged awkwardly in response. Fuck. ".... Uh... Yeah. Let's go with that." Ri said, trying not to be too antagonistic. That wasn't too bad of a reply, right? She could've gone with worse. She could've corrected Shae, and say that it was a shitty coincidence. But she didn't, so that totally counted as civil... At least by Ri's extremely low standards, since she had the social graces of a flaming trainwreck. Whatever a train was.

She didn't mention the fact that it was actually the pokemon that would be doing all of the work. She didn't really claim credit to any of Venom's victories... Because... Well... It was quite literally all Venom's initiative. She wondered if Shae was just... Not perfect, or if she assisted her pokemon somehow during fights. Ri figured it was probably the latter, since Shae was annoyingly.... Good. It got on Ri's nerves and kind of chafed for some reason. She couldn't really put her finger on why Shae bothered her so much.

Shae released her pokemon, a Klink... Apparently named Kay. Who... Was a steel-type. She was pretty sure poison didn't work on steel-types. Well, shit. She sighed. "Well, shit." She muttered under her breath, scratching the side of her head. She hoped Venom didn't waste time trying to poison the gear-like pokemon, or else he'd possibly lose... And Venom would probably be really upset if he lost because he'd been a dumbass. Which.... Was probably also dumb, but she also would rather if he wasn't upset. Now, Shae seemed to be thinking she was supposed to do something.... When really Venom was already rushing forward.

"Looks like Venom decided."

Venom's opponent had appeared in a flash of red light. Clearly a pokemon whose human chose to exert more control than his own red-haired human, who rarely ever withdrew him within the human devices known as pokeballs. Now.... Er.... This was a problem. He actually did know a little about type match-ups... Mostly, that pokemon this shiny and metal-looking were immune to his poison. Which was shitty. His poison should be able to infect and kill anything! It was a stupid rule that this thing should be able to escape being poisoned. Fucking irritating. So, he guessed he had another way to win this fight. He could still beat this thing up, even without his poison! He could totally do this. His human had stressed before the fight... This wasn't to the death. So.... He could totally just knock out this dumb hunk of metal and then he'd win. That was as good as a kill in a weird human thing like this. It was like that time he totally beat up that sheep. He rushed forward, slithering to the floating steel-type, bringing his tail blade forward to strike the well defended pokemon, tail surrounded with a dark, purplish aura.

Ri vs Shae

She listened intently with a smile at Ri's words. They seemed rather neutral, simply agreeing with her statement after the greeting. There wasn't a return of it, but she knw from previous encounters that it could certainly be worse. The woman seemed rather passive in this short conversation, but it was better than the defensive demeanor she usually seemed to keep. Shae could deal with neutral. Neutral was an improvement! She was happy to see that there was nothing inconsiderate or unkind about her words, after all.

Kay had barely been out of it's pokeball before the snake was moving, preparing to strike. Ri simply stated that her pokemon had made the decision, based on his movement. Well, it was a bit disappointing that she didn't seem to have control over her pokemon. Or, perhaps that was simply their strategy to catch the opponent off guard? If so, it had certainly worked. Her expression turned more neutral, if a bit raised in surprise, as she focused on the situation. She needed to concentrate if she wanted to win. And she was not planning to go down easily.

The tail seemed to resonate with some... dark power. Having had Mar for so long, she was keenly familiar with the deep presence the attack gave off. Was this pokemon considered a demon, as Mar was? Her eyes glanced to the crowd, seeking confirmation. They didn't seem put off by the creature, so she assumed that was not the case. Still, the power this move derived from was clearly of the same element. As the battle began, the pichu shifted in her arms, curiously staring on at the battle. She wasn't sure what to think, as she hadn't seen a real battle before.

The blade cut at the klink, scratching into the metal and slicing a bit into the gear it hit. The attack was clearly pretty effective, despite being physical. She assumed that was due to the dark power it harnessed. That was unfortunate to be sure, but she couldn't dwell on it. "Kay, vice grip!" The pokemon moved at the command, the two gears coming apart and flying separate. They kept turning as they closed in, attempting to clamp the seviper's body between the gears. But that tail needed to be avoided, so she needed to try and get the pokemon out of range.

"Get in the air and use charge!" She knew she was pushing the pokemon. It would be a lot of effort to attack and move in one, much less trying to gather energy. But she knew that Kay could handle it, and that the loyal creature would follow her command. She was doing what she thought was best for it to have the best chance at winning. There might be a chance for the opponent to get another slash in before Kay could get out of range, but they were too far in now to go back. Whether the gears hit their target or not, the klink would release and move up high, electricity starting to spark around the metal as they continued hovering up to get away from the seviper.

@Kaien

Venom taking the first opportunity to strike, never waiting for the human to give orders, because she never did. He always was on his own, though in the beginning... The human used to intervene a little bit more. He could think of a few instances where she'd intervened and it really just... She honestly was... Too stupid for Venom's tastes and comfort of mind... For maybe a few more reasons that he was willing to admit, beyond that she was getting in the way.... Anyways, here he was, in a fight. He needed to focus.

His tail blade struck the weird steel-type, cutting into the metal surface of his adversary, and Venom was glad to see that he'd done quite the amount of damage with a single strike. He was gearing up for another strike, when the human with stupider-looking hair barked out something and then his enemy was in motion. It.... Fucking separated and was suddenly flying at him. Venom wasn't sure where to strike, and then he was clamped in between the two gears. He wasn't exactly trapped, considering that the steel-type would have to be a lot bigger in order to properly entrap Venom.... But it hurt against his scales and he hissed out in pain from the attack. Then the human with dumb hair called out something else. Then suddenly the steel-type floated up away out of reach! Venom hissed petulantly. That wasn't fucking fair! He couldn't fly, and he couldn't hit it from here! Fuck, he'd have to force it back down somehow. Electricity was crackling around the teeth of the gears of the pokemon, though it wasn't discharged, so it didn't look like an attack.... Yet.

Venom did the only thing he thought he could. He hissed out angrily at the Klink, eyes flashing a dangerous red. Hopefully this would force the steel-type back down within striking distance, just in case, he gently waved his tail blade behind him in preparation.

Ri watched Shae's smile as she'd spoken. Honestly, she didn't like it that much. Ri knew she didn't sound friendly or warm in the slightest, so why was she smiling? It wasn't the redhead's own usual brand of smiling, which was full of shit. She could handle smirking or shitty grins, but not this bullshit. She kind of wished Shae would just grimace at her or something. It would make some more sense than this in full honesty.

She watched as Venom struck a hard blow against Kay, and she tilted her head thoughtfully. Hm. Perhaps Venom wasn't at that much of a disadvantage as she'd assumed. Despite his dark-type tail attack being a physical attack, it didn't appear that Kay's steel-typing stopped it from causing damage much. She assumed things would be over soon as soon as Venom got a second strike in.... Except... Well, first Shae ordered Kay to attack. She knew that some trainers ordered their pokemon around, and personally... Ri found it... Not really to be her thing. She... Supposed... Maybe... Some pokemon could benefit from it. Maybe. But personally, Ri trusted some of her pokemon to take care of themselves. The others, she'd grab herself and run for the fucking hills if things were going up shit creek. Anyway, after Kay attacked.... Shae ordered Kay to.... Well.... Fly.

Ri gently squinted her eyes, her gaze following the gear pokemon as it floated up towards the sky, sparks beginning to dance around it, though without being discharged. Her face steadily took on a soft expression of incredulity as she watched Kay fly upwards. Yes, she'd seen the steel-type float off the ground. She did not realize it was capable of.... This. "..... Huh." She said after several long moments of silence, as Kay seemed to be settling in the sky, firmly out of Venom's reach. Venom seemed to be trying something that... Didn't seem that aggressive as she expected. She guessed that Venom wasn't great at long-ranged, that being Sai's expertise instead. She wondered if Venom's attempts at getting the gear pokemon to come back down would bear fruit.

Ri vs Shae

Shae was relieved to see that Kay was able to get out of the way before Venom could attack once more. The gears moved quickly, having landed the attack and released before moving up into the air. There was a bit of hesitation, she thought, as it moved up from the opponent. She looked at Ri's reaction, seeing that she almost seem surprised by the klink's ability to float further into the air and out of range. She smirked at it, pleased to see they were able to possibly surprise their opponent. She had no ill will for Ri, but desired winning this match nonetheless. And that required employing her best strategies. She wouldn't insult her opponent by giving any less than their best.

The sparks were flying, literally, as Kay charged its bodies for the next attack. Though, the seviper was still up to something. It didn't seem to be attacking, not directly, anyway. But something about the way that it hissed and glared up at the klink threw her off. And, clearly, had thrown Kay off too. Her body hovered towards the ground a bit, moving a bit more slowly as if something had caused it mentally to falter. But before it got too low, the pokemon regained itself, getting ready to attack at her command. She smiled, not having realized her expression dropped from concentration, and gave the next order.

"Kay, Thunder Shock!" The electricity picked up as the words came out, as if the klink had already known what she was going to say. There wasn't any other move she would have the pokemon use after charge anyway, so it made sense. The shock gathered in energy, encompassing the two gears. Then, it shot forward and down at the snake, attempting to electrocute the seviper with overcharged power. When the attack left the klink, it almost seemed as if Kay was struggling somehow, likely a cause of whatever that stare had done to it. She remained confident that this wouldn't get Kay down, but prepared alternate strategies in her head just in case.

Venom could recognize the signs that his stare had achieved the desired effect, the hesitation and swaying showing him that it was working. Sadly, the steel-type was still in control of itself enough to keep it from plummeting and coming within reach. He hissed, annoyed that it still wasn't within reach. All he needed was one more good hit.... Then he could win. Except, the stupid steel-type was completely out of reach. Then the human with stupid hair barked out a command, and electricity was finally discharged. Venom had been mildly expecting it, and did his best to not just sit there while electricity struck from above. He hissed out in pain, as the electricity burned his scales. Despite having tried to slither away, he was still struck, but he was pretty sure he hadn't been struck dead on, so that was a silver lining. He glared mutinously up towards the sky. He couldn't do anything to the steel-type for now..... But.... Hm. He glanced to the human with the ridiculous hair.

Then he let out an earsplitting, horrible, screeching noise. Aimed at the human commanding the Klink, instead of the Klink itself. He hoped to provoke the apparently loyal steel-type to get back down here so he could land the final blow, waving his tail blade in anticipation to see if either the confusion would sway the Klink, or extreme distress imposed upon its trainer.

Ri sucked in air, sounding almost like she was hissing as her first pokemon so often did. The electricity that Kay had been building was released, and apparently the buildup had a purpose, increasing the power. It seemed to be an awfully powerful bolt, though it seemed off to the redhead that the little Klink could pull off that kind of strike without that buildup period. The Klink hadn't come back down to earth so that Venom could strike, and glancing at Shae, she doubted that Shae would give in to provocation. Well.... Uh... Then Venom started screeching at Shae, and she winced. Ri wasn't the target, but she could still hear the horrible, piercing noise. Well, she supposed that was another thing he could try, in lieu of Kay being untouchable.

Ri vs Shae

The cloudiness of the inflicted confusion was pressing on its mental state, trying to cause it to make mistakes. To fail its moves and fail to hit the opponent. Kay didn't really care much about it one way or the other, but it didn't super appreciate the lack of control either. The pokemon continued to fight, and was lucky enough to press through the effects still. There was no telling how long it would continue to be able to overcome the confusion in its movements, so it hoped the battle would end quick. It was rather bothersome that it had to fight in the first place. Couldn't the snake just... not fight? That sounded like a better plan, yes. Kay was ready for a long nap, but knew it wouldn't come until this fight was over - so it would push hard to end it quickly.

The seviper was clearly frustrated about the klink being too high up to hit. She could tell by the way his tail was flicking in anticipation, accompanied with the hisses at Kay. The pokemon didn't seem like the type to think of this as friendly sport. That was concerning, but she couldn't focus on that now. Kay was lowering as it fought off whatever the snake had done to it, and she knew it was only a matter of time before the steel-type would be in range to be hit by the dark attack once more. They needed to get as many hits off as possible before that happened if they wanted to assure their victory here. She looked down as the snake appeared to make a decision as to how to proceed--

And her arms flew up to her ears as the pokemon screeched at her. Not at the pokemon, at her. Was that... even fair? She couldn't focus on that right now. In fact, she couldn't focus on much anymore. The loud shriek filled her ears, her eardrums blocking out most of the sound from the damage and ringing of their own accord. That wasn't a good sign, but she wasn't deaf at the moment, so she figured it would likely fade. The klink stayed in the air as the screech attack his its trainer, curious how she would react. Despite all the times that she didn't appreciate Kay's lack of emotion, this was one time that she was glad it kept to logical thinking, not rushing to defend her from the attack. It wasn't anything that would actually physically harm her, so she didn't concern herself with whether it broke rules or not.

She would win this fight, the fair way.

Though she certainly didn't approve of the tactic, the woman couldn't blame Ri - after all, the woman wasn't giving commands. This was all her unruly pokemon, and there was no way she'd let a creature with such dirty tricks progress to the next round. Her resolve steeled, she stood straight as the screech toned down, and glared deeply at the seviper with dark brown eyes. Her expression was fixed with the determination she felt, and she took no hesitation in continuing, even as the ringing continued in her ears. "Kay, Vice grip!" She heard herself, but it was a bit muted. That would need to be addressed later, after the battle.

Kay moved, now having a command. It knew its trainer was tough, but wow. It thought it was the only thing that could shake off such an attack so easily. The gears came apart, as if to copy the strategy from before. They separated and stretched out as they rushed towards the seviper. But then, then changed path, cutting in and coming together. The two gears carved a straight line the final few feet and attempted to crash into the seviper, opening the jaws of their metal grip slightly at the last moment in order to clash his body in between its own. It would try to bite in, before moving to get away. But, in its confusion, it wasn't going to be able to get away quite as quickly as before.

Venom's screech, unfortunately, didn't incapacitate the Klink's trainer. It appeared she was more resilient than her hairdo suggested, and she was able to shake it off before the steel-type got within range... Meaning it could attack again before he could reach it to attack. So, he realized he needed to take a gamble. He began slithering as fast as possible to where the Klink was descending in its confusion, and he thought about how he should attack. He could sink his fangs or use his tail blade again. He didn't think it mattered, as he figured either would win him the fight. He just... Needed to avoid getting hit again. Despite being small, the steel-type hit hard and Venom was weaker than he'd like, and he wasn't sure he could power through another strike.

This would be the decisive strike.

The human barked out an order, and Venom kept an eye on the Klink. The gears separated... And ah.... So this attack. Shit. Inflicting confusion had that double-edged sword... And now he might have screwed himself over somewhat. Still, he kept surging forward. He didn't have another choice, though he readied his tail blade, the dark energy already beginning to collect. The gears were coming from two sides, and it was making him nervous. Then they came together and were coming straight at Venom. When Klink was only perhaps four feet in front of him, he brought his tail blade forward to slash the gears, coming from his right side and slashing horizontally in a wide slightly slanted angle, to hopefully knock them out, before they could separate and knock him out instead.

If Venom missed, or Klink survived Venom's final strike, when Klink's gears grinded against his scales, his vision began to go dark and he passed out from pain and damage, inflicted by bruises from the clamping and electrical burns.

Ri vs Shae

As the klink closed in, it hadn't expected the snake to be retaliating so quickly. Nonetheless, it persisted in its own attack, hoping this could be the last. All this energy it was using for such a trivial battle. This didn't seem like a deadly situation, after all. Even if its opponent was a predator. The tail came swinging around and slashed into the metal once more, though it hadn't hit a critical spot as it had last time. Still pushing through, albeit barely, the steel-type pokemon delivered the intended strike, the gears closing in harshly around the seviper's body. The snake started to go limp as the creature released it, the pokemon fainting from the damage.

The final attempt to get Kay before it could get him was admirable. However it had certainly made her anxious as the poison-type moved with such purpose to attack, quickly swinging around to try and win. She sucked in a quick breath as it happened. The blade cut into the gears once more, scratching across the metal. The woman would have been lying if she said she wasn't worried. The fight was certainly intense between the two very strong pokemon. But Kay persisted through the strike and landed a final blow on the seviper. The snake took the hit and seemed to lose consciousness. She waited a moment, ensuring the pokemon wouldn't get up again as Kay hovered close to the ground, clearly hurt and tired from the fight.

When it was clear the pokemon wasn't getting up again, her expression softened. She released a breath she didn't realize she was holding, her posture relaxing a bit with the battle over. She looked over at Kay, who turned to face her. She smiled softly at the creature. "Great job Kay. That was a strong opponent, but you managed to pull it off. I'm proud. You can rest now." She unhinged its pokeball from her belt and activated it. The device lit up and absorbed the pokemon, snapping shut. She looked at the ball with gentle pride before returning it to the spot on her belt.

Assuming Ri hadn't booked it out of the area before she did so, she'd look up at the woman, her expression still soft. She'd won, albeit barely, but she wasn't one to rub it in. "It was a good match. You've raised your pokemon to be quite formidable. I hope you have better luck next time." Her smile grew into a kindly expression, hoping the woman wouldn't take the loss personally. It wasn't exactly enjoyable to lose, but losing in a situation such as this was a valuable experience. And the closeness of the battle went to prove that they were equally strong, so the seviper certainly hadn't been lacking in skill. Once they'd said their farewells, or lack thereof, she would turn and head back the way she came. Shae wondered if any of the other matches were still going, and if she might be able to catch the tail end of one.

(( REST IN PASTA ))

Venom had managed to scratch the Klink before the steel-type knocked him out unconscious. As soon as Venom fell unconscious, Ri couldn't stand by any longer. Honestly, she was trying to ignore the nervousness and uneasiness dragging at her like heavy chains this whole time, with every attack Venom took on. But now that Venom was unconscious, it meant the fight was over and she could go over to him. Ri was pretty sure Shae was too nice to order Kay to attack again, and that.... Well... She was pretty sue that kind of thing was against the rules and would get your ass eliminated. Probably because the tournament's purpose isn't murder, or to weed out the weak or some shit like that.

Ri totally ignored whatever Shae and Kay were doing now, crouching down over where Venom had fallen. She lay a land on the side of his neck. She sighed. He was totally knocked out, but definitely.... Okay for the most part. He'd be okay. Once he got some rest, he'd be back up and in fighting shape.... Like usual. Yep. This was fine. It wasn't like it was terrifying watching a tiny Klink fucking shoot electricity at Venom, nope. Even if she knew the damn thing was an electric-type and totally expected. Yeah, no this was all fine. She sighed and lifted her hand. Okay. Since Venom was way too fucking heavy..... She pulled out his pokeball and withdrew him. He could recuperate inside the pokeball, and somewhere safe later.

Then Shae looked over at Ri, talking to the redhead, where she was on the ground where Venom had fallen to Kay's final attack. Ri looked over. Honestly, she didn't care about the loss. Mostly the fact that Venom was hurt... Though, when he woke up he was probably going to be cranky as shit. Oh, Arceus she really hoped Venom didn't try to get a rematch if he met Kay again. That would be a headache. She shrugged. ".... Yeah, sure." She said, not quite believing Shae's words. She... Didn't raise Venom to be anything. He got strong on his own, and Shae surely knew that, right? She didn't give a single command, so it was all Venom. Everything had been him, though.... Yeah... She guessed in a weird way she was sort of proud that Venom was strong. He'd come really fucking close to winning. If Kay had been damaged just a bit more by Venom's tail, she was sure that Venom would've won. But, this was how things shaked out. Venom lost, Kay won.

Ri stood up. She didn't wait for Shae to say anything else, and she walked away.... There was no reason for her to stick around at this time. The match was over, and she didn't care for a chat with Shae. Honestly, Ri was still annoyed she kept running into Shae.
