fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

With the day going by and the pokemon and human waiting, the slowpoke had yet to feel a bit. The magby was patient but this was getting ridiculous. The day was going by and he hadn’t anything to eat. He wanted to just run off at this point and go find something for himself. The human and bird had been waiting patiently, but he was young and starving.

Just before he could get up and rant about how much time he had wasted, the slowpoke finally spoke up. “Oh!” he exclaimed. The magby perked up and listened. The water splashed at the surface for a moment and the fire type could see the psychic’s tail wiggling. “I got a bite!” he continued.

The magby gripped the sides of his head with anxiety as he watched to see what the slowpoke would fish up. “I hope it’s a big one!” he cheered.

Something was off though. The slowpoke appeared to be struggling. His face cringing in pain. This was just supposed to be a simple nibble and reel but for some reason, the fish was biting hard and was pulling with all its strength. Somehow the psychic was able to pull up his tail just enough to get the thing out of the water.

Clamped onto the end of the slowpoke’s tail was blue and red fish. It had yellow fins and big razor sharp fangs. The slowpoke looked like it was in excruciating pain. In a panic he swung his tail side to side until the fish went flying off onto the river bank. It was pretty big and would surely satisfy the magby’s hunger, along with Heather’s if he chose to dig in. This demon fish was flopping by the human and the two pokemon with a frustrated look on it’s face. It’s eyes glaring at the fire type.

“Hey you punk! Push me back into the water!” he demanded.

The carvanha thought it was going to enjoy a tasty snack floating in the water and soon realized it had been tricked. It couldn’t do much on land but if it had to fight, it would do what it could. Still on the rock, the slowpoke curled up his tail as the bite had left marks with blood dripping out. He was in too much pain to do anything further. The magby eyed the fish, not knowing what to do. He could attack it but if he got close he could risk taking a fin to the face, among other things.

The day went on, and it was pretty boring. Heather's eyes eventually glazed over at he was technically peering into the river, but he wasn't really looking at anything earlier. He wondered if the human was actually still awoke, or if he had done the sensible thing and finally dozed off to take a nap. It was a very long wait.... And honestly, Heather wouldn't blame the human if he'd passed out. This was boring. He was really close to just pushing Slowpoke into the water and ripping the next fish he saw out of the water.....

When Slowpoke finally said he caught something. Heather perked up, and watched to see Slowpoke's tail was indeed wiggling. Though.... He wondered if it hurt to use your own tail to capture fish.... Heather really had to question the wisdom of such a technique. Though, did fish have teeth? He didn't really pay attention to those kinds of things, like what pokemon had teeth and what didn't. Besides, fish were strange. Heather stood up, and watched intently, curious to see if Slowpoke caught up a worthy fish.

Flash was not actually asleep, but he did push himself up to a sitting position, at all the commotion that seemed to be happening. Heather seemed to be paying attention, and that pink pokemon and the lizard-like one both seemed to be saying things. Though.... The pink one seemed to be in pain. Flash suddenly leaned forward, narrowing his eyes in suspicion. He wasn't sure about the wisdom of using a tail as a fishing line, but fish didn't cause that much pain he was sure. Fish were soft, and their lips easily got caught upon a hook when they bit at the end.

Slowpoke yanked whatever fish was biting his tail out of the water, and Heather gaped. That was not like any fish that Heather had ever seen, and it looked a great deal meaner than the fish that Magby and Pansear had forced out of the river. "(I-I don't think that's what you were looking for....)" Heather muttered absentmindedly, mostly because he was focused on the angry looking fish in front of him. Though.... Now that he thought about it.... It did look big enough to be satisfying. Slowpoke managed to shake off the fish onto the riverbank, though his tail was bleeding now.

It was trying to order around Magby. So, Heather needed to take charge. Heather noted that the fish was glaring at the fire-type, so Heather was able to skirt around to behind the fish, standing in between Carvanha and the river. "(Don't listen. We can do this.)" Heather said defiantly. Heather decided to just go ahead and hit this fish with his strongest move.... Even if it tended to hurt... With what looked like vibrant bluish flames surrounding him, Heather surged forward quickly to hit the fish away from the riverbank, further onto land.

It was.... Admittedly rather unlikely that Heather would miss, but if he did somehow, the flames would simply dissipate. If the predictable outcome occurred, Heather would wince, and suddenly bend over trying to catch his breath, as it seemed Carvanha was a very unfriendly target in many ways.... He'd seem to have lost feathers, and the crackling leftover energy of his attack had burnt off a few feathers......

Flash by now, had gotten to his feet as quickly as he could, and in lieu of a weapon, grabbed the borrowed fishing pole. He gripped it tight, but a fishing pole wasn't exactly an optimum weapon.... Better for getting fish out of the water and onto land where they were less dangerous. He supposed he could whack the fish with the pole, but he wasn't sure..... He grimaced as he tried to figure out the best course of action. He couldn't hastily rush forward.....

The young magby was extremely nervous when the carvanha flopped in front of him demanding to be tossed back into the water. Heather implied that they could handle the fish together and as much as he wanted to believe this, he was already feeling weak from the fight prior. The fire type wasn’t so sure the bird could do this fight alone either. As long as they’d fight together, the magby figured he’d try to help out. The young one would just have to attack and avoid being hit.

The angry fish eyeballed the doduo as it talked about being able to do this. Were these two about to jump him? Did they think they could? Well...they possibly could. He had limited mobility and a lot of his attacks were close range so, unless they got really close, he couldn’t really bite. “Oh yeah, tough guy, why don’t you come over here and say that to my face!” he hissed at the bird.

The carvanha watched the doduo attempt his attack. The bird charged up its energy and rushed toward him, aiming to keeping the piranha from flopping back into the water. Feeling the extreme tackle from the bird, the colorful fish went flying backward. Holy hell that attack hurt despite his rough skin. He hoped the bird would have exhausted himself with that attack.

As heavy as that attack was, he wasn’t dead yet. The fish was ready to flop forward and attack but just when he was preparing to launch himself forward with his tail fin, the magby came rushing over with his fist crackling with lightning. Punching the carvanha on his side. Even if landing an attack on the fish kind of hurt, it felt worth it. The demon fish felt the electricity surging through his body, frying his brain right before he died.

Dropping to the ground the carvanha lied there with the magby dropping onto the ground next to it. The fire type sat down, exhausted. He just wanted to eat now but would wait for the human and his bird to join him first. The lizard tailed creature would gladly roast the fish with his flames like his momma taught him. He looked up at Heather and Flash, seeing what they’d do next.

Still curled up with his tail, the slowpoke remained on the rock that was in the river. He didn’t know if the humans would help him or not but if not, it would have at least been nice to get a thank you. Either way, if they had nothing to say to him then he’s just remain there to heal over time.

Magby didn't act immediately. Heather supposed he could forgive the fire-type for that. After all, he was not at full strength from fighting the other fish later, and Heather recognized his kind did not take kindly to water. So, at first he'd been the only one attacking. The irate and fish that looked as angry as it was taunted him. So, with nothing more than a narrowing of the eyes Heather had obliged. His aim struck true, though Heather felt the dangerous aftereffects of the powerful attack. Heather had to stop to catch her breath, and hissed at the pain afterwards. It took a lot of strength to pull off, and it always hurt quite a bit afterwards... But sometimes it was worth it. The immense power had its cost, and Heather could live with it.... Given that he was careful. Though, he thought he was hurting more than he should be.... Argh... That fish hurt to hit like that!

Though, finally Magby interceded with that electrical attack of his. With a fist to the Carvanha, the angry fish was dead. Heather huffed. "(Guess you weren't that tough after all....)" He murmured. Nevertheless, he was glad to have come out of it okay. He eyed Magby. "(You doing alright?)" He asked, before waiting for a response. After Magby confirmed or denied, Heather's attention would wander.

Flash had seen the exchange of blows, and it turned out the intimidating fish was quickly finished by the combination of Heather and that red lizard-like pokemon. Flash breathed a sigh of relief. He walked over to the fish, and knelt down. Experimentally, he placed a hand on the fish. He tried to feel it, but he quickly took his hand off. He looked at his palm to see scratches from the highly coarse skin of the fish. "Well that's one way to fend off predators..." Flash murmured.

Heather's mind had wandered over to Slowpoke. Because the fish that Slowpoke had caught seemed more pressing, he didn't think about Slowpoke.... But then he remembered the seemingly lazy pokemon. He walked over to the riverbank to talk to Slowpoke. He cleared his throat. "(So uh.... That was good. I'm glad I listened to you.)" Heather said, trying to figure out how to voice his.... Gratitude? Appreciation? Something. Heather eyed Slowpoke's tail. "(I'm guessing you don't normally fish up anything with that many fangs....)" He cleared his throat again. "(Do you uh.... Need anything....?)" Heather asked somewhat awkwardly.

The magby nodded his head as a response to the bird checking in on him. He was grateful for all the help and concern but now he was ready to chow down. He only wanted to know what the doduo planned to do. “Should I start cookin’?” he asked as the duck billed pokemon wagged his lizard tail.

With everything that happened, it seemed as if the bird was concerned for the slowpoke. The psychic type was still curled up with his tail on the same rock. Heather came closer to speak to him, hearing what sounded like the bird’s version of a thank you. He was asked about the carvanha. About how he wasn’t used to fishing anything up like that. The slowpoke surely never did so.

He would occasionally fish up things that would not really be a fish but never had he dealt with a fish that almost bite his tail off. They typically just snagged on and wouldn’t let go. He was unfortunate and embarrassed about the entire situation. “No, nothing of the sort,” he said, sounding like he was holding in the pain. “I appreciate the concern really, but I’ll be fine,” the slowpoke reassured the bird.

There was no real reason to keep them any longer. The pokemon would heal with time and he’d continue his fishing methods despite the incident. There would be nothing that could stop him from his routine, even if it was risky. It was only the magby that needed the bird and human. He awaited a response from them, seeing if they were ready to fry this fish.

As Heather's attention had wandered over to Slowpoke, he half-heard Magby's question. He automatically answered. "(Yes, sure.)" He had said, even as he'd walked over to Slowpoke. Heather didn't want to admit it, but trying to be.... Plain like that had his feathers ruffled a little. He wasn't great at this kind of thing. His relationships with his partners tended to not be.... Focused on emotional aspects. The important parts were always professional communication and similar levels of competence to create a functional and effective team. So.... Yeah... Heather was not great at swallowing his pride and speaking plainly while trying to express gratitude and the like.

Heather absentmindedly scratched lightly at the ground with a talon. "(.... If you say so.)" Heather said, before he slowly turned around, still gazing at Slowpoke, before he was finally heading over to sit next to Magby and the blonde human by the Carvanha. If Magby hadn't started cooking the fish because Heather had seemed uncertain, he'd simply look to Magby. "(.... You can go ahead and start cooking it now.)"

Flash remained sitting over by the fish. He glanced over his shoulder to see Heather talking over at the pink pokemon who had fished up the big piranha. Then he returned his gaze over towards the fish, but he was looking at the little red pokemon that had helped Heather finish off the fish. "Guess you're sharing, huh?" He commented quietly. It made sense. He supposed... Heather was just trying to finish business with the pink one, and perhaps check on him..... Flash didn't think fishing with your tail was a good idea, not when you had to deal with angry fish like the one sitting in front of him. Flash sighed. "I wish I had a knife...." He grumbled. He should probably try to get one of his own.... One that was good at slicing up meat. After all, he couldn't be borrowing forever. Not that he even had a borrowed knife at the time.....

With the doduo’s approval, the magby went on to begin cooking the fish. He puff small embers over it, heating up the area above the fish. He didn’t want to set it on fire directly. Just warm it up over time so that the insides would cook. Eventually the magby would flip over the carvanha and finish the other side.

Once the meal was cooked, the lizard tailed pokemon reached down to break a piece off the cooked fish. He didn’t need to cool it off because the hot temperature didn’t affect him. He placed the piece into his mouth and began chewing. It was so delicious and completely worth the wait. Sure the wishiwashi were what he was used to but had they gone after them, the meal wouldn’t have been this good.

It was a shame about his friend though. Perhaps when the pansear would return, he could share some of this fish. For now he had new friends to share with. The human and the bird were free to dig in. It was likely a good idea for them to be careful about the parts they ate though. It was best to avoid bones and teeth. The skin was easy enough to peel back and now that it was cooked it wasn’t so rough.

“Thanks again, you guys,” the magby said, expressing his gratitude. “Feel free to dig in, I don’t think I can eat all of this by myself. It really didn’t matter if they helped themselves or not. The magby would continue eating his portion. If they no longer had anything to say to him he’d be on his way.

When Heather had come back, Magby had already begun cooking the fish. Heather hadn't ever had cooked meat before joining the human, as he didn't really.... Need to, and Heather didn't have a means of cooking the meat himself. So, the first experience he had with cooked meat was some of the meat that Heather was given at the routine eating times of humans. It appeared to be one of many strange human quirks, cooking meat, and eating at specific times of the day. Heather didn't understand it entirely, but he overall accepted it. Heather wondered if other fire pokemon had to cook their meat.

Magby was the first to try the meat once he'd finished cooking it. Magby invited Heather and the human to join in. Heather nodded. "(.... It's not a problem.)" He replied. He gently touched the fish with one of his beaks, and winced as it was still rather hot. Unlike Magby, they'd have to wait for a little bit. So, he waited, with occasionally testing the fish to see if it had cooled down enough. Once it had, one of his beaks ripped off a piece of the fish meat, and he lifted it up so his other beak could pick at it, making sure to toss aside any bones they'd ripped off. Fish bones were more... Difficult than the bones found in the usual meat that Heather hunted.

After swallowing a few bites, Heather noticed that the human hadn't taken any yet. So, Heather pulled off a bigger piece, and held it up to the human. The human blinked, before he gingerly accepted the meat from Heather, and began nibbling on it little bit by bit. He nodded in appreciation. They kept eating in silence on the fish meat.

Flash thought the fish wasn't half bad. As he was chewing and swallowing on the still warm meat, having waited a bit awkwardly... Until Heather offered him some meat that had thankfully cooled down enough for him to eat without potentially burning his hands.... Seeing the fish smoke a little from the lizard-like pokemon's fire had suggested that touching it with his bare hands would be.... Unwise. As he was eating, he had a thought. He'd already been thinking sort of.... Of perhaps inviting the fire-type to come with them. He didn't think too much about amassing a team of pokemon before, but since Heather had joined him, and then Hoothoot and Pumpkaboo had come along as well.... It got Flash thinking perhaps he should be keeping a lookout for potential team members. He found.... The idea of forcing a pokemon to cooperate with him and his team to be a bit risky and too time-consuming. It'd be easier to get a creature to warm up to him.... Though, admittedly Hoothoot was still pretty uh.... Frosty towards him. Casting a glance at the fire-type, it did not appear to be the case here.

So, Flash made a decision and as they seemed to be slowing down as they filled their bellies with what they could of the fishy meat.... Flash reached over and offered a hand to the fire-type. "Do you want to come with us?" Flash asked. Vaguely, he wondered if the fire-type would understand the gesture. There were times when Heather would just.... Stop walking and stare. Flash assumed he was confused, and assumed that Heather found humans confusing. He guessed that they could assume that feral pokemon lived very differently from humans.

Heather was just swallowing some fish meat, when he noticed the human doing that weird.... Invitation thing again. Oh, this again? Heather swallowed the meat with an audible gulp. He looked over to Magby. "(The human wants to know if you want to come with us. For the record.... You'd be appreciated.)" He said.

Maaan, did you do all of the right options when it came to trying to befriend this guy :D. Helping the magby against the wishiwashi and catching it a new fish when it lost its previous catch. You even got the bonus points for being patient enough to wait for the third fish roll for a better meal! Chance set to 50! Rng says...74. Bruh?
@kira

The magby was glad to see that the human and the bird decided to share the fish with him. It made him feel honored to have another enjoy his cooking. He wasn’t sure what they were going to do after this to be honest. Perhaps the fire type would go out and look for his friend. Maybe he’d return to his parents who hadn’t really been worry about him lately. He was old enough to hunt on his own.

While the magby thought about it, the human has seemed to say something to him. He didn’t know what it was but the fire type would continue chomping down on the fish. It was only Heather approached him and translated that the lizard tailed creature understand. According to the bird, the human wanted the magby to come along with them.

But...where? He liked his home here in the forest. He liked his parents and his friend. Speaking of...he had to go find him. The pansear’s fate was unknown and he couldn’t just leave him behind. “I’m sorry, but that all sounds fun but I can’t just get up and walk away from my life here. I’m sure I can learn a lot by joining you guys but I should really get going,” he said standing from what was left over from the cooked carvanha’s corpse.

Turning around but having yet to walk away the magby considered staying. Did his friend really need him? Would his parents really care if he left? The human and bird were some he just met and just because they were nice now didn’t mean he really knew them. It would probably take some more convincing. Still, he hesitated to leave.

Magby only stopped eating to listen when Heather spoke. Presumably because he understood nothing. Heather didn't really understand the strange noises of humans much either, though he was steadily learning little bits and pieces to try and figure out their strange ways. Because in full honesty, humans were rather.... Weird.

Heather figured that Magby was likely considering what following the human and himself would entail. What he'd have to leave behind. Heather.... Didn't really have anything to leave behind. With the loss of his old hunting partner, Heather hadn't had anyone else. So for him, the choice had seem much simpler. He supposed he understood to a point though. There'd been a time when Heather was a young chick and still with his family, but that was a long time ago. Heather was independent now.... Even if he had some.... Partners now.

Flash saw the fire-type pokemon turn around, but had yet to start walking away. He was hesitating, even as he seemed to be... Hm... Well, Flash figured that he was reluctant to leave just yet. So, he probably had understood Flash's offer.... Or Heather was asking the same exact thing. Flash shifted around, so he was down on a single knee instead of sitting. "Are you sure?" He asked, though he was not positive the lizard-like pokemon would understand his words.

Heather similarly stood up, as Magby seemed almost ready o leave. "(There is a time when everyone must separate and begin to make their own way.)" Heather said. "(If you want that time to be now, you could come with us. We likely won't see each other again. Only walk away if you're sure that's what you want. So, I will ask again and I want to know what your deepest honest answer is. Do you want to come with us?)"

Great speech, Heather! Magby is still split down the middle, considering he's not exactly miserable here in the forest. Chance set to 50! Rng says...14. Success, the magby will join Flash and hopefully he can continue learning new things. Starting with 13% Loyalty.
@kira

Hearing what the doduo had to say the magby was pretty sure he made his mind up. His parents did stop checking in on him after all. He was growing up and even if he wasn’t able to catch a carvanha on his own, he still able to survive. He was patient and kind with allies before he even met the human and bird duo.

His so called friend even ditched him for a meal he had to catch himself. It was only these two that remained by his side to help him out. They spent the entire day with him just trying to catch him the best fish they could and they succeeded as far as the magby knew.

Turning around to face Heather, the little fire type looked up at him with. “Okay,” replied. “I’ll go with you.” There was nothing left for the pokemon to learn on his own. If he was going to continue to grow it was only with those who were stronger than him. He wouldn’t even mind learning to fish as the human did. The duck-billed creature could even get his own fishing stick and catch all the dinner he wanted.

“What now?”
