Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Capture Attempt
A capture attempt on an injured pokemon with a status effect is 45% chance. Rng says 99...geez...
@Amissa @Aya

As the zigzagoon made it safely over to the Soren and the others, the Archen was fighting for his life. Mostly for revenge though and was so distracted that he didnt expect that one of the humans would attempt to toss one of their strange capturing objects at him.

The ball came flying at the bird and began sucking him into the round prison. Landing in the grass, the ball shook violently. The archen was fighting the capture attempt as hard as he could. It did not want to become anyone's slave. Eventually the ball burst open and the bird came flying out. "If you think I wasn't pissed before, you're about to feel my wrath now!"

He didn't care who he attacked now. He scanned the area, narrowing his eyes to pick a target and the first thing he locked eyes with, he dove for and attempted to injure them badly. The freakin' sheep who tried to paralyze him. Yeah, that punk was going to get it!

He charged right in, the static not affecting him badly enough to hold him back. The bird appeared to split into two, hoping to throw off his enemies so that if they decided to attack, they'd have a chance to hit the wrong target. Soon after he shot forward with a quick attack on the young mareep.

The attack on the bird seemed to go as planned, and Soren felt a surge of pride instead as even Nimbus managed to contribute to the battle. In fact, it appeared that it was the electricity that delivered the shock that set Zigzagoon free. "Yay!" Soren cheered, throwing his hands up at seeing his pokemon's attacks hit their mark. He was expecting the bird to fly off rather than fight the combined forces of his and Jillian's pokemon as well as Zigzagoon. He gave the raccoon pokemon a welcoming smile as it hurried to rejoin him.

However, Soren's celebration may have been too early. The brightly-colored bird became enraged, flying towards them and sinking its teeth into Genesis's neck. Teeth? Soren could only stare in surprise as the creature's sharp fangs left bleeding lacerations on his girafarig's elegant neck. It was agony for the psychic type, but she wasn't the sort to put on a show. She gave a pained grunt and twisted her neck to escape the jaws. Lucky for her, this bird had enough rage to go around. It left her to attack Mint instead.

Jillian remained cool and calm throughout the chaos, tossing a pokeball. Soren remained frozen, hoping that the ball would be enough to contain the threat. Unfortunately, it seemed to barely slow the predator down. It burst free and then sped up until its movements seemed only a blur. It came rushing at Nimbus, far faster than the little mareep could dodge. Nimbus was knocked backwards and gave a piteous bleat as the bird struck him painfully against the shoulder.

Soren edged in front of Nimbus, instinctually moving to protect the lamb from further attack. Genesis narrowed her eyes at Archen. He was letting his fury drive him to make poor decisions. She was hurt, but she was far from defeated. Genesis sniffed the air, inhaling the scent of the bird. She'd use this to identify which of the images was the correct target. Once that was done, she focused on Archen and charged. Having just attacked Nimbus, the bird wasn't too high in the air for her to tackle, and she doubted it could do much to dodge with the electrical energy still hindering its movements.

Soren furrowed his brow in determination and reached into his own bag until he found his one empty pokeball. He'd been meaning to catch a flying type pokemon anyway, but he hadn't considered trying to go after this monster until he saw Jillian try it first. The way he saw it, it would solve two problems. It would give him a flying type pokemon that he would hopefully be able to train, and it would stop Archen from hurting his friends. He backed up and waited for Genesis to finish her attack. He trusted her to know which of the images were real, but hopefully the bird would also be too stunned and distracted by her tackle attack to avoid the pokeball coming its way.

Capture Attempt
A capture attempt on an injured pokemon with a status effect is 45% chance. Rng says 56...okay...
@Amissa @Aya

The archen felt pride in landing his attack on the baby sheep. Age didn’t matter to him because a foe was a foe. If they were old enough to attack, they were old enough to take a beating. He didn’t even care about having one of them as a meal, he just wanted to teach them a lesson.

With the one human attempting to capture him he needed to kill quickly before they tried again. He wasn’t sure if they would but it was better to be safe than sorry. As much as he believed his tricks would work with using double team, the giraffe was able to see through his illusion and charge toward him with a tackle.

The bird was knocked back through the air as a pokeball came spinning at him. Being sucked into a second ball the bird was furious. He tried to resist the magnetic force pull him in but he was broken down into pure energy and swallowed by the orb. Once again it shook violently, only this time it burst open a lot faster. Flustering his wings as he flew into the sky, the archen realized this fight wasn’t worth it. He had taken too much damage and these humans were trying to enslave him.

Giving the zigzagoon one last look, the archen turned and flew off into the sky trying to push through the static and pain, hoping they would not pursue him. If they did, he’d likely attack once more and would not hold back. He’d used the last of his energy if it meant killing one of them.

Meanwhile the zigzagoon was relieved to see the bird go. The raccoon was pleased with the humans and their pokemon and how they chose to save him. Sure they played innocent enough to earn sympathy but he would surely be done for otherwise. He turned toward the group, facing the pokemon, knowing the human could not understand him. “Thanks all, you put up a good fight!” he said trying too hard to sound grateful.

Soren's heart was hammering in his chest as he waited to see if the pokeball captured the bird. He wasn't so much disappointed that his he couldn't capture the creature as he was terrified. He was sure by now the creature would be so furious that it would attack again, especially as it shot a look at Zigzagoon. It didn't, however. Instead, it began flying off. Soren exhaled deeply, realizing that he was trembling uncontrollably. He took a moment to cautiously retrieve his pokeball once it seemed clear Archen wasn't coming back.

Soren looked over at Genesis, and he could see the bleeding bite mark on her beautiful neck. She too was watching Archen fly off, her chest heaving as she caught her breath. She wanted to make sure it was gone and didn't appear to be coming back. Nimbus nudged the back of Soren's leg for comfort, and the boy knelt down and put his arms around the lamb. "You guys did such a good job! You were very brave," Soren said, his voice cracking as he stroked Nimbus's wool and examined the mareep for injuries. Nimbus felt very tender on the shoulder and side where he was quick attacked, and he was sure to bruise. Thankfully, he didn't seem to be seriously wounded. Genesis's injury seemed more severe.

Soren wasn't sure what Jillian wanted to do, but he wanted to stay near the relative safety of the campfire and tend to his pokemon. "I have a potion, and I'd like to use it on Genesis but how is Mint doing?" Soren didn't know if Jillian had potions of her own, but he didn't want to use his one potion on Genesis if Mint was critically injured. Since Soren was already kneeling, he also took a moment to examine Zigzagoon if the pokemon allowed it. "How about you? Are you hurt?" He asked the creature gently. Soren's hands were still shaking as he reached out for the tiny raccoon, hoping to pet its fur. This was often how he checked his own pokemon for injury, and what he'd just done with Nimbus. He didn't see any blood, but Zigzagoon had been carried and dropped by the bird's talons. Soren wanted to make sure the pokemon's bristly fur wasn't hiding some horrific injury.

Genesis was less friendly to the pokemon. "So it wasn't only food that you were originally after..." Genesis hummed, remembering how Zigzagoon originally started off trying to join the playing of the smaller herbivore pokemon. "You were using our group as cover this whole time, and you never bothered to even warn us that there was a predator about." Her gaze at Zigzagoon was intense, but it was difficult to tell if she was actually angry. Her tone was accusatory, but she also sounded almost impressed as though she approved of Zigzagoon's cunning. Even if he was a con artist, at least Zigzagoon wasn't stupid. Genesis could not tolerate fools.

Written in the stars
Jillian's piercing analytical gaze was focused on the pokeball she had tossed, waiting for the results. A flying Pokemon could have its uses, but most importantly, she wanted to get to know this curious creature better and she doubted it would come with her willingly. Of course, putting it inside a pokeball was also a way for them to prevent its attacks - Jillian felt responsible for protecting Mint and Primrose. The two were huddled together by Jillian's legs, similarly staring at the sphere intensely.

Archen broke free. The two Pokémon stepped backward, effectively hiding behind the woman. Primrose was barely visible, but Mint stood out, especially considering her curious peeking. Jillian, on the other hand, stood her ground firmly, taking note of where her item had landed, and running a hand toward another pokeball. She had two other Pokemon she could call for help if there was a need.

The bird went the other way, choosing poor Nimbus as its target. Genesis and Soren reacted, fighting back and trapping the wild Pokemon in another pokeball, but the result was the same. Jillian and her two partners froze as they watched the wild pokemon took flightly, but it quickly turned out that it was running off. Jillian watched its movements with a still face, regretting this outcome a little. It was a shame, but it appeared like the predator wasn't as stupid. Even though it had impatiently attacked a prey that was among a group, it at least knew when to escape. She waited for the colorful bird to be far enough before she shrugged and began walking toward the campfire.

Primrose got on all fours and ran after her swiftly, but Mint's sore leg was allowing her to hobble clumsily at most. Jillian stopped and look downed at the struggling goat. She was continuously trying to put some weight on the leg, so perhaps the injury wasn't all that bad, but it was definitely there. The woman offered up a pokeball to the goat, but the Skiddo shook her head energetically.

"No! I'm strong!" she insisted unnecessarily, as Jillian already got her point. The Skiddo glanced toward Nimbus. Although the trainer couldn't read her thoughts, she imagined Mint's pride wasn't letting her give up so easily. She sighed in defeat and reached down to pick the goat up.

"It's fine. Just for a little while," she said dismissively, carrying the goat over toward the campfire. She wasn't exactly light, but allowing her to push herself like this couldn't be good for her health. And if returning to her pokeball hurt her pride, the only solution that remained was giving her slight help. Mint pouted, as though trying to appear like this gesture was unwelcome, but she held her head against Jillian's arms.

The trainer set the goat down by the fire and sat down next to her, letting the Skiddo rest against her. Primrose climbed onto Mint's back.

"Are you sure you don't want to rest?" the Pachirisu whispered softly.

Mint shook her head, grinning widely to everyone gathered. "I am resting! But resting here with everyone is much better than resting in the orb."

Noticing the Skiddo's usual, cheerful mood coming back, Jillian turned to Soren. "Well, if she was hurt badly, she would be crying miserably. I imagine she just needs to take it easy for the rest of the night," she answered, glancing at the pest. It was still around. It either had good timing, coming to them right before being attacked or it was more than a mere coincidence... Jillian frowned. "So, this Zigzagoon is staying with us now, I imagine?"

@Amissa @Aya

Despite originally using the humans and their pokemon as protection, the zigzagoon was realizing how nice these people actually were. The pokemon weren’t so bad either. If they allowed him, sticking around could be great. He’d be fed and taken care of. At least by the younger human who seemed to have fallen for his lillipup eyes.

While Soren was checking on his pokemon for injuries he decided to also tend to the brown and creme con artist. Seeing the human reach out to him, the zigzagoon pressed himself into the hands of the boy to be pet. The idea was to continue seeming cute and friendly. The raccoon didn’t really have any injuries other than some soreness from falling to the ground, but he’d be okay.

He figured he had just about all of them fooled about how helpless he was until the giraffe approached him. She mentioned how it was apparent that he didn’t just join them for food. Crap...were they all this smart, or was it just her?Either way, the raccoon continued to play the part of a helpless fool.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I saw some fellow pokemon having some fun and thought I’d join in. The food was just a bonus,” he said slyly. “How was I supposed to know I was being hunted by a deadly predator when you guys didn’t even know it was lurking?” the zigzagoon went on. He turned his head and trying not to crack a smile. He’d only focus on the human for now.

While the humans were tending to their pokemon and all were conversing, something was floating above the grass. It was closing in on the group’s location but not very quickly. From where they were they could only see the silhouette of a round figure with feet dangling and two ears that seemed to be spinning on its head. Hanging from the round figure were two thin vines that attacked to another silhouette of something bell shaped. The bell seemed to have a stem with roots dangling from the bottom and two leaves branching from the stem.

It was unknown if they’d noticed the figures floating their way. If they chose to ignore them, the two would continue floating by. If approached, one could hear them speaking to one another.

Soren's heart warmed as the fat little raccoon pressed into him, welcoming his touch. It helped thaw the icy chill of fear Soren had lingering from their encounter with Archen. The bristly fur tickled his neck unexpectedly as he was petting Zigzagoon, and Soren gave a happy giggle as the pokemon looked up at him. "How about it? Do you want to stay with me?" Soren asked, still laughing and knowing full well that the pokemon couldn't speak back to him. "I'll be your friend if you want me to."

"You'd think by now he'd realize that we can't understand him," Genesis hummed, not bothering to argue with the raccoon or even dignify his answer with a response. Instead she just followed Soren as he got up and led them closer to the firelight so that he was on the opposite side of it to Jillian. He put a bit more grass and sticks in it to keep it burning before going into his bag and pulling out a clay container with a letter "P" engraved in it.

"He asked if you want to stay," Nimbus translated, being more fluent in human language than she was. He followed on Soren's opposite side, but headed over to Mint once they reached the fire. "He said the word 'friend' too. I think he wants you to stay and be our friend," Nimbus continued even as he attempted to give Mint a comforting nuzzle with his nose against hers.

Soren was dedicating his attention fully to Genesis now, and she folded her legs beneath her and laid down so that the boy could easily reach wherever he needed to reach. She'd spent enough time with him now and trusted him enough to know that whatever he was doing was at least well-intended and would probably help her feel better. Here, where the light was better, Soren took a cloth from his bag and used it to delicately dab at the bite marks on the girafarig's neck to clean them. Then, he uncovered the clay container and poured some of the blue gelatinous salve into his hand. This he spread generously over the bite marks. Genesis felt the effect of the potion immediately, the tingling numbing sensation replaced the throbbing pain from the wound.

"Good girl," Soren cooed, "You're being very good. This should help it heal and keep it from getting infected." He looked at Genesis with eyes brimming with affection. He sometimes felt guilty for loving Genesis so much. It wasn't that he didn't love Nimbus too, but Genesis was his first pokemon and his stalwart defender. She had a unique place in his heart, and he doubted that he'd ever love another pokemon as much as her. She was also in many cases the only protection he had against the dangers of the world. Nimbus could fight a little, but he was still very young and not too strong yet. Soren depended mostly on the psychic to defend him, so he considered it his duty to take especially good care of her.

While she was submitting to Soren's ministrations, Genesis was still looking out for danger. Her two heads allowed her to watch the area in front of her and in back of her at the same time. Thus, she was the first to see the movement above the tall grass. It was moving in their direction, but it didn't appear to have any kind of urgency. At first it seemed like just one pokemon, but after staring for a bit Genesis realized that it was two. It was difficult to tell exactly what pokemon they were. Maybe it was a grass type, maybe it was a flying type. Perhaps she should let her boy know. She snorted and leaned forward, taking a lock of his bangs between her teeth and giving it a yank. "Hey!" Soren cried, giving her an affronted look as his hands went up to protect his scalp from further abuse. She snorted again pointedly before looking directly at the floating pokemon.

"Look there," she said, and though Soren couldn't speak her language, he got the point.

He looked in the direction Genesis was staring and got to his feet nervously. After just being attacked, Soren was still a little jittery. "What do you think that is, Jillian?" Soren asked, worried that it might be another mean wild pokemon heading their way.
-----

Soren used a potion on Genesis.
Befriending attempt on Zigzagoon!
