Even Aimess had to get away from city life once in a while. Dicey had shown them a pond once, and the clear water, lily pads, and pleasant hum of grass and bug pokemon that lived in the area going about their business made it an optimal spot to relax. All they really had to do at the moment was keep an eye on their pokemon, who were playfully splashing around among the plants. They yawned and adjusted their position leaning against a tree, content.

Naka felt her backpack shaking, and so she was running back to her little campsite as fast as her legs would carry her. Scyther reached the camp first, followed by Stunky, then Naka and Shroomish side by side. Naka took off her backpack so hastily she almost fumbled badly enough to drop it. Fortunately, she didn't actually drop it, even if her blood had gone cold for an instant there, and unzipped it, taking the egg, which was wobbling like crazy, and put it in front of her. Her pokemon, circled around the egg, were all staring just as intently as she was at it. The egg started to give off a glow, and they all gasped, bursting with anxiety and excitement about their new party member.

Aimess walked through the Ashfield marketplace, glancing around at different stands in search of pokeballs. They were pretty sure they saw a few vendors selling them, but decided to go to one with someone behind the counter who looked like the reasonable type.
They surveyed the selection of items. "How much would a pokeball cost?"

Gourdelia thought the human house was pretty cozy. Goodstuffs had a nice sleeping spot, a basket lined with little puffs of Mareep wool, and Gourdelia liked to rest on top of her fluffy friend. In the evening, there were sometimes still lights in the windows of other buildings, or even in a few rooms of this one. When she went to investigate, she found that humans used fire for light! Wow! Humans must be really brave to go near that stuff!
Most importantly, it was rarely, if ever, boring. In the day, she often went out with Aimess to buy things in the human marketplace, usually things that smelled yummy! Sometimes she would get to nibble on almond slices or have a little bit of sugar, or even chocolate! The chocolate wasn't quite as sweet as a sweet heart, but the taste was similar enough. Then, when they got home, the human would play games with her and Goodstuffs (Gourdelia was the best at hide and seek) and show the two of them shiny things! Coins were her favorite shiny thing. They made fun noises when they clinked together, and they were small enough for her to lift. Aimess and Goodstuffs even liked her jokes! She sometimes strayed from the human during errands to find plants, and she liked dropping leaves and petals on their heads. Sometimes, she would even blow a whole heap into someone's face. It warmed her heart a little every time she made someone laugh.
Nighttime was the time for mischief. All the humans would be asleep, and sometimes Goodstuffs got hungry. Often times, the door to the pantry wouldn't be closed securely enough to stop her, and she would headbutt it open without too much difficulty. One night, Gourdelia followed her.
"//Watch me! I know where the good food is,//" Goodstuffs instructed as she dug through a pile of dried berries and nuts. Gourdelia surreptitiously gobbled up a walnut. Not her favorite. "//I found the sweets!//" Goodstuffs said around something in her mouth. Her butt was sticking up in the air, and her back paws were flailing excitedly. Gourdelia pulled on one to help her friend out.
Goodstuffs, once extricated from the pile of food, smiled a triumphant smile around what appeared to be a simple roll. She bit into it, revealing its secret- the inside was filled with oran jelly!
"//Can I have some?//" Gourdelia spun excitedly, poking the remaining half of the roll, drawn to it by smell. "//I want it!//"
Goodstuffs gestured to the pile as she scarfed down the rest of her roll. "//There's lots!//" When Gourdelia looked, there were indeed many rolls. Some had bits of jelly visible on the side. She grabbed one and took a nibble, and her eyes lit up. So good! By the end of the night, the two Pokemon had eaten a little over half of the jelly roll stock. They went back to bed on full stomachs.

Soft flakes of white made their way through the canopy, melting against the earth when they landed. Aimess let out a breath, which puffed into a visible cloud of steam. Gourdelia found this fascinating, and she tried to poke the vapor, only to find that it simply wound around her edge. She was a little disappointed that nothing happened in particular, but it was still really cool that Aimess and Goodstuffs could make puffs of steam just by breathing! She spun around in a few different directions, chirping excitedly.
Aimess reached out to pet their tiny pumpkin friend, rubbing the fuzzy tufts on her side. They cursed their mittens for making their hands all awkward. "It's kinda fun out here, right?" A thump came from nearby, and Aimess looked a short ways away to see Goodstuffs lying flat on her belly, tongue sticking out.
"//Hey, hey! I caught a snowflake!//" Goodstuff's victorious barking was enough to assure Aimess that she wasn't hurt. "//I jumped for it and I got it! Look, look!//" She crossed her eyes in an attempt to look at the snowflake she'd caught, but it was gone! "//What happened to my snowflake!?//"
"//Um, um, I don't know! I'll try and see what happens!//" Gourdelia stuck out her own tongue and managed, after a few attempts, to catch a snowflake. Hers didn't melt, and she floated down to show Goodstuffs. "//Maybe you dropped it.//"
Aimess smiled at how childish their pokemon were, totally engrossed by a snowflake. Goodstuffs reached out to touch it, and Gourdelia shrieked and flinched a safe distance away. Goodstuffs inspected her paw, seemingly confused that the snowflake was gone. "Now, now. There will be plenty of time for playing after we get some sturdy sticks for Dad, okay?"
