Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

It's the most wonderful
time of the year- meaning, the time of Delibird gifts and of winter festivals! And as always, our plot events are still going strong.

Season

winter will be here until
March. Aside from the western Great Forest, which is too warm, and the Desert Strip, which is too dry, snow begins to fall across the region. The chill of the season has just about every area firmly in its grasp. Ice and Dark types become more common as the temperature drops and the daylight fades.

Drama on Ice Opening Song: https://instaud.io/1MUL

"Fairy lights twinkle, up in the trees nearby.

Excited eyes sparkle, and spirits are high.

Across the rink, the skaters twist and twirl;

On the ice, their skates create ornate swirls."

-Angela Wybrow

His nerves quickly calmed as he moved from the staging area into the center of the ice with an alarming speed. He spun on his sharp skates to face the crowd and he gave a graceful bow, sending one leg out behind him to effortlessly maintain his balance. Even in the cold of winter, he had abandoned his thick jacket in a pile in the snow, in favor of the tightly fitted white tank top that complemented and revealed the sizable muscles rippling from his neck, along his shoulders, to his hands.

Paul’s blue eyes sparkled with all the brightness of the ice, but none of the coldness, as he removed a darkly colored Pokeball from his belt. A lovely tenor humming filled the air as he flourished it in front of him. Transitioning from the soft buzzing of a closed airway into the loud, mature tone of a widely opened mouth, he flung the ball into the air with a dramatic crescendo. There was a sudden silence as light burst across the frozen lake and a delicately lavender and sky colored Oricorio solidified in front of him. The ball seemed to sink back down to the earth through the air, landing in his hand with perfect silence as he carefully caught it with just the tips of his fingers, to avoid the ugly slap noise of a ball being caught.

In this silence, Melete appeared to be almost sleeping. His head was tucked downwards and his wings were splayed out as wide as they would go, sheltering and curtaining his form with carefully preened and arranged rays of feathers, hugging himself and hiding his head. Paul resumed his song, but not where he had ended it. Instead of the sudden powerful crash of noise, his voice lilted gently, just a few harmonic notes repeated, over the bird’s seemingly sleeping form.

The elaborately covered bird made sure his plumage was covering his feet, and started to slowly glide forward on the ice. The skirt of feathers here were critical for the illusion of graceful movement, for in reality Melete’s feet were shuffling back and forth. He took a step forward, then pushed back slowly, shifting his weight back and then allowing it to catch up with his steps to appear as though he were moving in a single continuous motion, even without skates.

By the time he had moved nearly a meter forward, Paul’s song was slowing and beginning to raise in volume and pitch once again. Matching the rising of his tone, Melete raised his wings, unfurling the intricate display with the gradual grace of a captivating dancer. Like petals of a flower opening up, his wings went from tightly curled in on himself to stretched out to his maximum wingspan, his head held proudly upright now like a pistil of a tropical blossom. Together they held the dramatic pose and the dramatic note for one second. Two seconds. Three.

Then Paul’s voice cut off as he drew in air, and Melete bowed his wings and dipped his head down as he scooted back to stand just in front of Paul. When he was just in front of him, he brought his stance back to his full height, raising one wing upwards towards Paul and letting the other tuck lightly against his body. Paul reached out and seemed to grasp one of Melete’s wingfeathers, his stance subtly changing to give him a solid grip on the ice. It became evident that he was actually grabbing a tip of a ribbon, well camouflaged and tucked carefully away (under the feathers as opposed to on top of them) when he suddenly but fluidly pulled his arm back like someone removing a tablecloth. The ribbon pulled away from Melete’s arm, causing the bird to spin like a top, nearly lifting off the ice as he spread his wings out horizontally to either side of him, looking for all the world like a winged seed twirling down through the air.

Paul crumpled the ribbon into his hand and spread his own arms, distributing his mass as best as he could before he dug the toe of one ice skate into the ice in front and across from the natural position of his foot. With all his might, he shoved himself into a spin to match Melete’s, pushing off his anchor point in the ice. The two of them spun, Melete faster than his more massive partner, before they began to lower their arms, decreasing the distribution of mass which allowed them to accelerate their spinning motion. By the time Paul had brought his arms in and crossed them before his chest, bending his knees to lower himself closer, he was matching the speed of the bird spinning beside him.

With a cry, Melete suddenly bent his knees and launched himself upwards, flapping his wings vigorously to get a few feet of air. Simultaneously, Paul’s arms swung outwards, away from his chest extending horizontally to either side of him. This slowed him down considerably, allowing Melete to land his frantic leap right on Paul’s sleeveless shoulders, one foot on each. The nails dig into his bare skin as Melete steadied himself with a final two, slowing flaps of his wings, ending with them spread-eagle to match Paul’s own outstretched arms. Once Melete had landed, Paul stretched himself back up to full height. An eight-foot-tall living totem pole, their spin slowed to a stop and the pair found themselves facing the judges.

They held their pose for a second before Paul bent his knees and his arms swung downwards towards his sides before flinging back up and past their former placement, reaching into the sky and shooting Melete up from his shoulders into the air. Melete’s wings fluttered to slow his descent, and a few seconds later he landed carefully on the ice.

“Shall we dance?” Paul spoke with a barely contained tremor of excitement in his voice, half to Melete and half to the crowd. His still-clenched fist suddenly opened and the lavender ribbon tumbled out of his grasp. He was left holding just one end of it, and he smoothly brought his hands together to take the ribbon in both hands, sliding it along until he was each hand was holding it roughly two feet away from the middle. He moved slowly as his hands reached the spots they were supposed to hold, taking care to keep both ends perfectly symmetrical. It would simply not do to have them out of order right now.

Meanwhile, Melete was also composing himself. He stood tall and lifted his wings in front of him, holding them loosely but precisely. He readied himself for the dance that he practiced for hours on end before even meeting Paul. Boosting his charm and allure, he snuck a Captivate in the direction of the judges, batting his eyelids at them softly and focusing his energy on his innate power.

Side by side, Paul and Melete were ready now. With a soft tink of his skate against the ice, Paul took a step forward at the same time as Melete, and they both moved into a graceful, swaying dance. Paul’s ribbon had pale sky blue tips that could be seen now that he was leaving the ribbon out for all to see. It matched the shade of Melete’s wings tips, and both matched the pale winter sky. In sync, the thick ribbon and a fan of feathers raised up into the blue sky before being flourished and brought back in front of their respective chests. The other wing and the other arm followed in a swifter, but similar movement. The ribbon fluttered slightly as it followed the arc of Paul’s moving hand.

Now the pair diverged. Melete splayed his fans out as wide as they would go and began waving them back and forth. One brushed his cheek, before disappearing behind his back shyly, while the other reached out and glided from one side of his body to the other, fanning feathers across his face in a demure manner. Paul flung out his ribbons as he took several swaying steps to send him flying forward on the ice, making a tight turn almost immediately such that he was skating in a circle around the dancing Oricorio while he continued to raise and lower the streaming ribbons that followed his circular path.

Melete shifted and pivoted with a mystical serenity as Paul’s ribbons fluttered and glided around him, but never touched him. The ribbons alluded to a mist or wave that rippled through the air as the bird continued to reach his fanned wings forward, to the side, and back, seeming to be chased by the trailing ribbons as Paul continued to trace his movements. With one last flourish of his wings, Melete stood still as Paul flicked the ribbons up, finally breaking from Melete’s hypnotic movements and sending them soaring over Melete’s form before they could fall or collide into the unmoving bird. Paul’s skates made a sharp skid noise as he used a quick turn to stop just beside Melete, who still had his wings raised just before his chest and bent slightly to give a prayer-like appearance to his arms. Paul’s own arms were already moving to match his Oricorio’s, and the pair ended with a deep bow with their hands in front of their breasts.

"Flygon whips up a sandstorm by flapping its wings. The wings create a series of notes that sound like singing. Because the "singing" is the only thing that can be heard in a sandstorm, this Pokémon is said to be the desert spirit."

For some odd reason, though, Flygon doesn't officially learn the move Sing... which I disapprove of. Let's say I'm a special Flygon then, shall we?

On Valentine's Day, my Russian professor had us recite (or do something more creative) a poem by Pushkin. I went and found a song made from said poem, and decided to sing it rather than just recite it like everyone else.

There was interest in hearing me sing it. After a little shuffling around in the interwebs I discovered a way to upload mp3 files. Here is a link to my mp3 file: https://instaud.io/1MTL

Edit/Addition: While we're talking about singing and songs, this is one of my favorite ever songs that I've taken part in. (Cloudburst, by Eric Whitacre) I'm in the soprano section here, though I kind of switched around between soprano and alto throughout my four years.

Pokemon that are useless in battle until they reach a fairly decent level (20+), evolve, or... just... forever. Feel free to add more, preferably with reasons for why you think they belong here! Note: They don't have to be water Pokemon. It's just that we started out talking about fish and Wishiwashi, so our search naturally began with Water-types.

Fish that evolve/school @ lvl 20:
Magikarp
Feebas
Wishiwashi

Other:
Luvdisc: pretty bad stats, but it does have Water Gun I guess, and can eventually learn decent moves if you power level it high enough... still.

Not technically fish:
Pyukumuku: not intelligent, zero damaging moves. possibly King of Useless Pokemon
Tynamo: only learns 4 moves, has abysmal stats, doesn't evolve until lvl THIRTY NINE

Honorable mention:
Finneon: in the same boat as Luvdisc, but it can evolve if it survives to lvl 31 so it's better
Clamperl: pretty helpless until evolved... could get a decent EM though, and doesn't take much to evolve, just an item
Wimpod: totally belongs in this category (little to no damaging moves, bad stats, and doesn't evolve for ages)... but I don't think it lives in the water so is it truly a water Pokemon?

1. Are children branded?
2. What about children of branded people?

3. Who does the branding?
Peace officers, deacons, sometimes bishops.

What if people got mad about being branded and took it out on the nobles children? =X?!
4. Would they ever do that (rise up and disobey in such a manner)?
5. If they managed to brand an upper class citizen, or one of their children, what would be the consequences?
6. Are the branded allowed to leave Crater freely?
I’ve heard they are given housing and food, so I can understand why they might not want to even if it’s allowed.
