Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

Ben Shepherd | Native | Age 15

Ben had always wanted to see the bay. His father had never taken him because there was never a reason to. The only bodies of water he ever saw were streams and ponds. To see an ocean or possibly the pokemon that live on the beach would only be something he could on his own.

The boy wasn't entirely on his own though. Before him was the young pig. She likely wouldn't be fond of the ocean but Ben was trying to break heart out of her fears. There would be nowhere to hide unless she dug a hole in the sand. Looking around the boy and his tepig wondered what they’d encounter. It was early so we wouldn’t be expecting people or pokemon to be awake yet, though he couldn't really know.

Ben removed his boots. He wanted to feel in sand between his toes. Tepig was already pressing her feet into it. It was strange but she liked it. She wanted to roll around in it but worried something could be lurking underneath. The boy went down closer to the water but just enough where the tide wouldn’t reach them.

Not wanting to get the pig wet, he sat scribbling in the wet sand. The tepig scraped at the sand, trying to make a hole so she could hide in. She wanted to avoid being seen by any lurking pokemon and didn’t want the water to get here.

A short distance away from Ben and Lucille, rested two different pokemon who seemed both quite unassuming and peaceful. A large pink-colored creature floated leisurely on the water's surface in the bay, with curled ears and pale tan mouth, looking like a rather goofy looking beast overall. On the bay's shore, half-buried in the sand was a gray bug with more brightly colored wings, and two brown front legs bearing claws. Similarly, the bug did not appear particularly threatening either. Neither pokemon seemed to have noticed Ben at all, and it seemed like they wouldn't unless the young boy approached them himself.

"(You sure that's he's coming....?)" The Nincada grumbled from her place in the sand. "(Kid seemed pretty... Jittery. He might just bail. It'd be the smart thing.)" She pointed out, to her apparent friend floating in the water.

Slowpoke slowly turned in the water to smile at her friend in the sand. "(Oh, don't worry. He's coming.)" She laughed. "(He's got no one else. No family. Not our fault, but we were gracious to take him in. Trust me, he's coming.)" The water-type said confidently. Then she tilted her head, looking past Nincada to smile. "(And.... Speak of the devil....)" She drawled.

Approaching the bay was a turtle-like pokemon. He appears to sport blue scales, with a cream and red-brown shell surroundings most of his body, and a curled tail poking out from behind. Though, he was dragging in tail on the ground, and his scales and shell showed evidence of damage and scratches. He appeared to be a bit banged up, but not too seriously damaged.... Yet. His dejected and mildly blank stare would be further cause for alarm, should Ben look in the direction of the Squirtle. Carried in his arms, were three blue berries, that all appeared rather ripe. The Squirtle approached the Nincada and Slowpoke pair, as the Slowpoke wore a nasty grin, soon matched by the Nincada as soon as she rose out of the sand to turn around and meet Squirtle's eyes.

The Squirtle flinched slightly and averted his gaze. "(... L-Look... I found... Y-Yeah...)" He said, apparently finding it hard to speak and say anything. Slowpoke dragged herself out of the water and onto the sand, making her way up to Squirtle, who suddenly became ramrod straight. Slowpoke smiled the whole way up to the younger water-type. "(.... Aw.... You really did do good, kiddo.)" She said in a cheery tone, but Squirtle still didn't meet her eyes.

"(Don't praise him.)" Nincada grunted. "(He took forever! He should've been here way earlier.)" She complained. Squirtle flinched at the unhappy tone.

"(Oh, don't be like that. He has plenty of time to.... Learn.)" Slowpoke insisted. "(Now, hand over those berries.)" She ordered. Squirtle dutifully handed them over to Slowpoke, who happily took them and carried them over to her Nincada friend. Squirtle seemed to hesitate for a few moments.

"(I-I can eat too.... R-Right?)" Squirtle asked, almost not sounding sure if he should ask the question. Slowpoke and Nincada exchanged looks. Nincada's looking a bit more surly, while Slowpoke's was as creepy a smile as ever.

"(Just a moment, now.)" Slowpoke said, still smiling. She glanced to Nincada. "(Why don't you cut up an appropriate share for our dear?)" She suggested. Nincada's mood seemed to abruptly brighten. Nincada used her claws to cut up.... A rather small portion of one of the berries, considering the berries were already rather small. Nincada kicked the portion over to Squirtle, who caught it awkwardly and stared a little at it.

"(T-That's it?)" His voice sounded weak.

"(It's what you deserve.)" Nincada said firmly. Slowpoke never stopped smiling. "(Now, don't complain.)" The older water-type said in a soothing voice that somehow grated like sandpaper. "(You're lucky you get to eat at all. Some pokemon go starving, you know. Don't be so spoiled.)" Squirtle just stared as he silently put his "portion" into his mouth and gently chewed and swallowed. It was such a small piece, it didn't take any time at all.

Ben Shepherd | Native | Age 15

While relaxing on the sand and Lucille in a hole a few inches away from him, the wingull was happily playing near the water. She was walking close to the tide and as it would rise toward her, she would run away quickly to avoid getting wet. When she felt like the water was too fast, she’d fly into the air. The bird felt great knowing the ocean couldn’t beat her. At least that was what she thought.

Lucille couldn’t understand why the wingull was playing near the water. Didn’t she know anything could come rushing out of the ocean to drag her in? What if a huge wave splashed down on her and drowned her. Did it not bother the wingull to be wet in general? The pig didn’t exactly live a waterless life. Of course she drank and would get caught in the rain but she at least tried to avoid being submerged. Also water attacks from pokemon hurt like hell.

Ben noticed that there were two other pokemon at the bay, relaxing as well. One was a bulky pink blob that was floating in the water. On the shore was an insect with claws that made the boy feel like approaching it would be dangerous. He figured he’d just watch the wild pokemon from a safe distance while his pokemon enjoyed themselves. At least the wingull was.

It was only a moment after noticing them that Ben noticing another pokemon making its way to the bay. The little shelled pokemon was blue with a rodent like tail. The creature didn’t look well as it dragged its tail through the sand. He appeared to have had been through some kind of battle or maybe just a rough time in general. The turtle was carrying berries in his arms as he made his way to what could have been his friends? The boy wanted to smile at the idea of the blue guy sharing some treats with his ‘friends’ but by how depressed the squirtle looked, he wasn’t so sure.

With Ben distracted, the wingull flew over and landed on his head. The boy was too focused on the wild pokemon that it didn’t bother him to have the bird’s sandy feet on his head. “What’s going on over there?” the bird squawked.

Lucille poked her head out of the hole she made for herself. “No idea, I was taking a nap,” she answered. The blonde kept his eyes on the wild pokemon, observing their next move. He had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. The wingull and tepig turned their attention to where he was looking to figure out themselves what their trainer was so distracted by.

As they watched nervously, the nincada appeared to have taken a small cut of a berry to give to the squirtle. That couldn’t be right, could it? He seemed to be the one that fetched the fruits and there were three of them! One for each seemed pretty fair. Lucille rolled her ears back, as the heartbreaking image in front of her.

“They’re using him,” she squealed softly.

The wingull on Ben’s head patted her feet in anger. “Oooooh, he doesn’t even get a fair portion? If they weren’t so fat, I’d teach them a lesson!” the bird screeched. Ben waved for the bird to get off his head as it continued patting its feet. The wingull floated off onto the sand next to him.

“I dunno know what’s going on over there but I don’t like it. I’ll jus’ go make sure everythang’s awright,” the boy said to his pokemon as if they could understand him. He stood from the sand and made his way to where the wild pokemon were, hoping that none would attack him on sight.

“What is he doing?!” the pig gasped.

Flying after her trainer, the wingull cawed happily. “What do you think? We’re gonna kick some tail!”

Lucille nervously picked up out of the hole and followed behind Ben. She didn’t like any of this and the pokemon honestly looked scary. There was a good chance that she was going to get whipped if they had to fight and she didn’t know if it was worth saving a pokemon they didn’t know.

Wingull landed on Ben’s shoulder, ready to go with whatever action he chose. Chances are they would probably destroy her in a heartbeat but if if came down to it, she’d just fly off and leave the trainer and his pig behind. She didn’t might getting into a scrap but she wasn’t going to lose her life over people she barely knew, even if they were nice to her.

Ben carefully approached the wild pokemon in a non-threatening manner. Staying kneeled so that he was low to the ground, hoping that he appeared less intimidating. “Howdy, y’all!” he blurted out. Crap, that may have been too loud.

Lucille poked her head out from behind the boy to speak. She was a coward but she was smart. Surely she could help communicate better than the human could. “Is that all you guys have to eat? Surely pokemon as strong as yourselves have worked up a bigger appetite than that?”

Hearing the pig speak, wingull couldn’t help but chuckle in her head. ‘Strong’? She meant fat, right?

Slowpoke and Nincada were chuckling to each other as Ben approached the group of pokemon. They only noticed Ben once he'd gotten close, being rather inattentive while they were snacking on a berry eat, with most of what should've been Squirtle's berry in between them. Nincada instantly became more alert as Ben approached, as opposed to Slowpoke whom merely began to show interest.

"(It's a human!)" Nincada hissed. "(We should book it.)" She suggested. Slowpoke waved her friend off, raising a paw.

"(Eh, it doesn't matter. This one looks young, and the human's pokemon would be going after us if they were aggressive. Besides, we can take them.)" Slowpoke eyed the Tepig and Wingull pair that accompanied Ben. "(I think if it came down to a fight, it'd be easy pickings.)" At this point, Nincada and Slowpoke were both ignoring Squirtle, who was just staring at the ground with a pensive look on his face.

Nincada tried to relax back into the sand, while Slowpoke did it far more easily. Though, when Ben declared himself loudly, all three pokemon winced at the unexpected loud tone, Squirtle especially. Then Lucille spoke. Nincada seemed like she was about to provide an impassioned response, when Slowpoke stopped her by simply raising a paw. "(Let me handle this.)" She said softly to her partner. Then she looked to Lucille and Wingull. "(Ah, this? This is just a nice snack for now. We can get a proper meal later.)" She assured.

Squirtle, from where he was sitting, seemed to be trying to make himself as small as possible. He could easily overhear the conversation, but he didn't want to get involved. Slowpoke was fairly.... Lenient, but Nincada didn't like him that much. He was mostly thinking about how.... Well... Nincada and Slowpoke did actually hunt for prey themselves, instead of making Squirtle do it. Squirtle wasn't that great at hunting, being rather young. They'd made him do it exactly once, and it didn't bear much fruit, so they had mostly scoffed at him and decided they'd wait for until he was older to impress that kind of responsibility on him.

Ben listened as the pokemon chattered. It was difficult to keep up with them and he had no idea what was being said. The boy was going to have to trust his pokemon to handle this conversation. His main concern was that the squirtle was alright. The blonde could only hope this was a misunderstanding and that they weren’t bullying the young turtle.

Wingull patted her feet Ben’s shoulder as she continued to speak. “Oh? What qualifies as a proper meal for you guys?” the bird asked sarcastically. “Sand?” she cackled.

Lucille gave the bird a narrow glare. Her obnoxious behavior was likely to get them in trouble but the pig was going to do her best to keep this situation neutral so that everyone would walk away safely. “Excuse my extremely rude ally here, she sustained a head injury recently,” the tepig explained, fabricating an excuse for the wingull.

“Hey!” the bird cried.

The tepig continued with the slowpoke and nincada. “I’m sure you guys manage just fine but have you ever had human baked goods? Cooked meals? Food make with fire and a mixture of ingredients?” Her tummy was rumbling just from talking about food. “I don’t know how they do it but it’s super delicious!”

The bird flapped her wings gleefully. “Oh, you have to try the bread!” This was the one food that the bird could live off of. She only discovered it while staying with Ben and she didn’t get to always eat it, just when there were leftovers. The wingull honestly felt like she could live off the stuff and that people should feed more bread to birds like her in general.

Lucille wagged her curly tail at the thought of bread. “Would you guys like some bread? My human has some!” The pig poked at the human, trying to get his attention.

Ben looked down at Lucille, trying to figure out what she wanted. She gave him the same look every time she wanted to be fed. He didn’t know if now was the best time to feed her, with wild pokemon in front of them. It couldn’t hurt so bad, right? The trainer reached into his bag and pulled out a roll of bread his mother had baked. Breaking off a piece, he handed it to the pig as she began munching down on it.

Wingull made sure to snag herself some for herself. One would think she would choke based on how fast she swallowed it. Ben broke off the remaining half into equal shares for the three wild pokemon. If they didn’t like it, they didn’t have to eat it but he didn’t like eating in front of others without offering them a portion.

“Here ya go fellas. Tell me what ya think?” he asked, placing the pieces of bread in front of each of them.

Nincada twitched from the insult, but was stopped once more by a silent gesture from Slowpoke. Slowpoke ignored Wingull's disrespect, believing that they would benefit from ignoring the bird pokemon. Slowpoke wasn't really fond of conflict or work in general, and ignoring the bird seemed like the best way to put off having to put down the Wingull themselves.

Slowpoke shifted a pleasant gaze towards Lucille. "(Ah, it's not any problem.)" She assured the Tepig, though she sensed that the head injury part was in jest, due to Wingull's severe defensive reaction. Then Lucille continued and explained about human food, and it piqued Slowpoke's interest. Admittedly, none of wild pokemon there had much contact with humans. Though, thinking about it.... Stealing from humans sounded like too much work. Slowpoke whispered to Nincada, too softly for Ben's pokemon to make out her words. "(Perhaps when the kid is bigger, we can get him to steal some for us.)" She suggested. Nincada seemed to think for a moment, before nodding. Nincada was less lazy than Slowpoke, but generally enjoyed the water-types shady tactics to get out of work.

"(Oh, yes. We'd very much like some.)" Slowpoke replied to Lucille, her voice gaining a note of interest, as opposed to the soft, mellow tones she used before. Nincada and Slowpoke watched intently as Lucille begged the human for food, and Ben granted Lucille a piece of human food. Then as Ben placed down pieces of bread for each of the wild pokemon, Squirtle had tried to dive for his given bread piece. It didn't work out as the turtle had hoped.

Before he was able to get his hands on it, Nincada had swiftly swiped it, sort of glaring at the younger water-type for his apparent audacity. "(Hey. Don't get greedy.)" She chastised.

"(H-Hey! I-It was supposed to be for me!)" Squirtle protested, summoning the courage for a brief moment to try and defend himself. His courage drained away and he flinched at Slowpoke's deep disappointed look.

"(Now, now. You should know that we decide the portions. You know what we say?)" Slowpoke asked, clearly checking to see if Squirtle remembered a specific "lesson" imparted from the two older pokemon.

Squirtle seemed downtrodden once more. "(... Big pokemon who aren't useless need more food for energy...)" He muttered quietly. Slowpoke smiled.

"(Good boy.)" Slowpoke and Nincada laughed to each other, leisurely nibbling on the three pieces of bread allotted, sharing the third bread piece between them.... Meanwhile, Squirtle was left without bread, and staring at the ground.

Glad to see that the pokemon were enjoying the bread, Ben was mostly concerned about the squirtle. He was hoping the pink blob and her bug friend would allow the turtle to take his portion. Unfortunately the nincada snatched the portion. Ben stepped forward lightly, appalled by what he just saw. The blonde was hoping the bullying was a misunderstanding but this confirmed it.

Lucille and Wingull were a bit heartbroken to have seen it up close. The pig more than the bird though. Feeling a her blood boil, the pig tried to calm down. She was frustrated but did not want to show it. A wrong move could result in the pokemon attacking the team. Wingull wanted to fly down and snatch the bred but she could tell as well that would be a bad idea.

Ben didn’t know what to do here. Without knowing how to communicate with the pokemon, this was going to become a difficult situation. It wasn’t enough that they had snatched the squirtle’s snack but also spoke very abusively toward him. He was so sad and she wished she could just scoop him up and run with him.

“So, I have to ask. What exactly is the nature of your relationship with this squirtle?” Lucille calmly asked the two stronger pokemon.

Wingull turned her head to the side. “Yeah, why isn’t he allowed to eat?” asked the bird.

Lucille narrowed her eyes at the wingull for blurting out such a question. “Ignore her, please? Is there anyway you’d let us bring you some more food?”

Wingull gave the pig a side eye. She didn’t want to go hunting for no one except herself. Was this pig crazy or was she up to something? Whatever it was she’d just play along and see where it went. “Yeah we don’t know this place very well but if we had a guide like your turtle friend here. I’m sure the four of us could carry a lot more than he could ever do alone!”

The tepig chuckled at the idea. “That’s actually a good idea! We’ll even leave you some extra bread to hold you off while you wait!” Lucille said joyfully. She nudged Ben once more to get his attention for some more food.

The boy looked down at the pig and wondered why she was asking for me when they had their fill. He looked in his bag and he had another roll left along with some berries. He could surely split this with them but he wanted to turtle to get a share. Whatever Lucille was doing he hoped she had the right idea. “I got one more roll girl buh that’s gotta be it, ya hear?”

Ben pulled the roll out of the bag and held it up to show it.

Slowpoke and Nincada noticed Ben's advance, but didn't understand what it meant. He'd given them bread, and thus both pokemon had figured that Ben was friendly... Or at least naive enough to not be a serious threat. That thought helped Nincada to relax, being the most negative of the bullying pair. Similarly, the two hardly seemed to register Lucille's and Wingull's reactions to their treatment of Squirtle. To them it was perfectly fine, and their new routine. Though, it could be also that they simply didn't care what others thought, since their.... "arrangement" soundly benefited them.

Then Lucille posed a question, and that was less easily ignored. Then Wingull butted in before they received a chance to answer. Nincada appeared mildly offended that a question was asked, but no space to answer was given. Slowpoke gave an easy smile, and seemed more mellow about the awkwardness of the conversation. Lucille then asked another question. Then she made a proposition, that even had more bread promised at the end. The partners looked to each other and smiled. Slowpoke looked back to Lucille. "(Oh, that would be lovely. That... Bread stuff of your's is wonderful....)" Slowpoke's mouth seemed to already be watering a little at the thought of more bread.

Nincada seemed only slightly less into the idea. "(Well... I do like the idea of getting more food.... The kid's supposed to pay his dues.)" She insisted. "(We took the br-kid in. He should pull his own weight, and he's too weak to hunt anything that could actually feed strong pokemon like us. So we make him go get snacks. S'all he's good for, really.)" Nincada explained casually.

Squirtle was watching longingly towards the group. He'd seen Lucille's and Wingull's reactions and despite his fear.... He dared hope. Their.... Their human.... He wasn't supposed to approach humans if he saw them, but.... He seemed nice? He wanted to give Squirtle bread, but it was Nincada and Slowpoke who took it away. He really wanted some of that bread.... But he couldn't approach.... Not with Slowpoke and Nincada always keeping him from eating. His eyes kept cycling through the faintest glimmer of hope and despair.

Hearing that the slowpoke was pleased with her idea, the tepig bounced happily. She was hoping this plan would work and that they could get the squirtle safely away from the two. It wouldn’t be enough to just get him away either. She would have to make sure that he felt like he could leave and that he wasn’t entirely manipulated into believing he owed them anything.

Ben wondered why Lucille seemed to joyful. Was she making friends with these bullies? Perhaps she was slowly convincing them to be kinder? Who knew but whatever she was doing, the boy hoped it didn’t result in a water gun to the face. He parted the bred so that both the nincada and slowpoke got a piece each. The third piece was placed back into his bag, wrapped safely so it wouldn’t be ruined by the other contents of his pack.

Wingull and Lucille listened as the bug explained their relation to the squirtle. It was important that they knew so they could figure out why he was doing slave work for them. Apparently he owed them because they took him in. Perhaps he felt like he had no other family so this was better than nothing? At his young age, he could be too weak to survive in the wild on his own. There were lost of predators in the ocean and his shell could only protect him but so much.

The bird narrowed her eyes but continued listening. She wished she was strong enough to kill these jerks on the spot but she needed to be patient. Saving the water type was priority over pride. While Lucille thought, Ben locked eyes with the young turtle. The more he looked at him, the more guilt ridden he felt. He couldn’t leave him. No matter what they had to do, he couldn’t just walk away.

“I see, well that’s understandable,” Lucille replied to the nincada. “Well if that idea sounds great to you, then should we be on our way to go find you guys some great food?” the pig continued.

Wingull patted her feet from Ben’s shoulder. “Yeah little shell boy, why don’t you lead the way and we’ll show you how real hunters get things done!” she cawed, playing along but still could have been a little less convincing.

Lucille squinted at the bird as she gave a convincing line but it still felt kind of mean. Ben placed the pieces of bread in front of slowpoke and nincada before Lucille could begin tugging at his pant leg. “Aw’right, aw’right girl. I’m coming,” he chuckled as she tried to lead him into the plains so that they could go 'hunt.' This would all be under the assumption, the squirtle would be allowed to lead the way.

Nincada and Slowpoke were both looking intently up towards Ben as he broke apart the bread. They noticed how he only kept two pieces out, one for the each of them. Pleasant expressions graced both of their faces. They didn't appear to be paying as much attention to Wingull and Lucille at the moment, missing Wingull's disapproving expression. Though, as Lucille addressed Nincada, her attention turned back to the pig.

"(Sounds good.)" She said, seeming rather amiable by now. Her claws twitched in anticipation, and she wondered exactly what kind of great food they'd be able to scrounge up. Heh. They would hardly have to exert any effort, and they'd be getting more food out of these suckers. They likely wouldn't be able to keep them around like they did with Squirtle, but Nincada was always the more skeptical one. Meanwhile, Slowpoke found that having Squirtle under their ah.... "tender care" was more than enough.

Squirtle winced and stared at the ground as Wingull started spouting things. Suddenly, the young turtle felt really dumb. It seemed like... Wingull probably didn't actually care, judging by how she was now seemingly joining Nincada and Slowpoke, with unkind words and ordering him around. That Tepig with her was probably on her side, even if they didn't seem to get along perfectly. "(E-Er.... Yeah... Su-sure... Okay... Kay...)" Squirtle said, his voice quiet and trailing off as he tried to squash that little spark of hope that emerged inside him. Squirtle did indeed lead the way, and Slowpoke and Nincada leisurely followed after, both with smug looks on their faces. Given by how Squirtle was dragging his feet and tail, it took hardly any effort for Nincada and Slowpoke to lazily follow.

Lucille was glad to see that everything was going according to plan. They'd get the squirtle away from the group and be able to have a one on one talk with him. The tepig wanted to hear his side of the story so she could help him figure something out. Surely this plan was golden and the lazy psychic and insect wouldn't be around to interrupt.

It turned out this wouldn't be the case however. Sure the blue turtle was going to lead the way but it seemed as if the slowpoke and nincada were coming along with them. This was not how it should have been. How would the pig and her team help him now? Would they even really be able to find anything for the two lazy pokemon?

Birdy was confused as to what Lucille was planning. She didn't understand how the two stronger pokemon coming along would make a difference. For now, she'd just have to play along and hope for the best.

As the squirtle began walking off toward the plains, the tepig followed closely beside him. She couldn't help but peak back once in a while to see how close the slowpoke and nincada were following. She wondered if they were far enough where she could whisper to the turtle and have some kind of conversation with him.

The wingull remained on Ben's shoulder, so that she could keep an eye on the two older pokemon as well. She was mostly concerned they'd try something. It would be a shame if they would suddenly attack the human or any of the pokemon while no one was paying attention.

Seeing that everyone was moving along, Ben started to follow after the squirtle and tepig. He didn't know where they were going or what they were up to but there was no way he was going to stay relaxed on the beach while his pokemon went on some kind of adventure. "What'r y'all up to?" he asked, looking at the bird on his shoulder.

Not knowing a word of what he said, the wingull just shrugged her wings. She didn't want to seem like she couldn't understand him even if it was obvious. Birdy was uncomfortable with this entire situation but she couldn't think of a time where the pig and human led her to absolute trouble they couldn't get themselves out of.

If it was possible to get a second with the squirtle without the slowpoke and nincada hearing, Lucille would lean in to whisper. "So, what's your story? What happened to your family?"

As the group were traveling off into the plains, Nincada and Slowpoke happened to be the ones walking in the far back. The two older and stronger pokemon were content to let the others lead the way, as they followed lazily, only keeping up enough to not lose them. They quietly conversed in the back, though unheard by Birdy and Lucille, who were up closer to Ben and Squirtle. Though, they could possibly guess at what they were talking about. Trying to take advantage of their kindness, talking badly about Squirtle, or stroking their own egos and apparent genius. They either didn't notice Birdy perching to keep an eye on them, or they simply didn't care, as they didn't point it out or draw their line of sight towards Birdy.

Since it seemed that Slowpoke and Nincada were barely paying attention, Lucille wouldn't find it too hard to lean in and try to whisper to Squirtle. Though, Squirtle seemed uncomfortable with the close proximity, and turned his head away. "(... I don't really want to talk about it....)" He replied quietly. It appeared that Squirtle would require some coaxing before he was willing to share personal stories with Lucille. He seemed nervous as a whole, as he looked around. The way he seemed to be leading the group didn't seem particularly certain. If anyone cared to notice, they might infer that Squirtle had no idea where he was going.

Lucille was a little let down that the squirtle had nothing to say. How did he not want to talk about it. She knew if she had a chance for a therapy session she'd take advantage of that. The tepig was afraid of a lot of things so she had a lot of get off her chest. Was the turtle abused so badly that he was really afraid to talk at all? Possibly he was just too tortured about the events of his past to be able to go into it without breaking down. She needed to respect his decision.

Still going along with the plan Ben, kept peeking behind him. The slowpoke and nincada was lazily following behind but not enough to ditch. It was difficult for the boy to do anything when he didn't have any means of communication with the wild pokemon. He could swear saving Lucille in the past was a lot easier than this. He wondered if every pokemon he rescued was going to be this difficult.

Birdy was honestly growing impatient. If they wanted to find food, she could easily fly on ahead and search around. She had a pretty easy time doing so before she met Ben and Lucille. It was just the pig who was holding her back. Lucille was trying to hard to be friends with this turtle that they were likely going to find themselves psychically crushed by this slowpoke.

The pig frowned as she thought of what she could say to the squirtle. "It's alright," she said reassuringly. "We don't have to talk about it if that's what you want." The pig kept walking along side him, though it they didn't seem to be going anywhere in particular. She was beginning to wonder if the young turtle was lost. Still, she would just have to trust him. "Hey I have to ask. If you could get away from these guys, would you? I mean like if you could go to a good home with plenty of snacks and a nice pool to swim in...bread?"

It was a good thing the slowpoke and nincada were so far back. She wouldn't want them listening in on this conversation. If they heard what she was saying, they'd catch on to what she was trying to do and it would be endgame. "You seem like a good guy who could use some good friends, just sayin."

Squirtle cast a glance to Lucille, like he hadn't actually been looking at her up until now. Whenever he didn't want to talk to Nincada or Slowpoke... Usually the former would squeeze the truth out of him. It was nice to have the choice to not talk... Though, he cast another glance warily at Birdy, feeling fairly wary of the seagull. He suddenly started staring at the ground, fiddling with his claws. He wasn't sure how to answer at first. He cast a glance over his shoulder, before subtly nodding at Lucille, all the while casting another suspicious glance at Birdy.

"(Hey! Eyes forward!)" Nincada called out harshly from behind, and Squirtle suddenly went ramrod straight, tensing up. The turtle's attention was now firmly on the walk in front of him, but there was clear panic and stress in his expression. He didn't know where he was going, and Nincada and Slowpoke would surely catch on soon. He seemed to chance one last helpless look at Lucille, before trying to look like he actually knew where he was going.

Lucille and Birdy couldn't help but flinch as the nincada's shout. The tepig was pretty sure it was going to attack at the point. It was a good thing that it didn't because she wouldn't have known what to do but tuck tail and run. Birdy would have surely flown off. Ben was oblivious as to why the bug made a buzzing sound but he hoped it wasn't getting impatient with whatever they were doing.

The tepig couldn't wait any longer for the squirtle to find something. She would have to use her snout to sniff something out. If they were going to keep playing this charade, then she had to at least continue to make it convincing. Finding some kind of berry for now would show that they were trying. She snuffed along the grass of the plains, swearing she could get a whiff of something coming from the north.

She only hoped it wasn't something that was being claimed by another. If it was, then they'd likely be in trouble and expected to deal with the situation. They were already dealing with one too many. Ben was beginning to pick up that the pokemon were looking for food. He didn't have much experience foraging but he swore he spotted a berry tree not too for from here. It was on their way to the bay that he saw it and didn't think he'd need anything from it when he had food packed.

Perhaps they could check out the tree and see if there was enough to share with the group. The boy marched forward, in an attempt to lead the way. "C'mon on now fellas. I think I know a spot," he said enthusiastically. He turned a smiled at the squirtle who looked desperate and nervous. "Don't worry lil' fella, we'll help ya out," the boy whispered to the turtle.

Lucille knew she'd have to translate but she only wished she knew what the human was saying. She could only tell by his actions that he was making trying to lead them. Perhaps he knew something they didn't. "I'm not sure how well a human's smell works but I think he's picked up on a scent," the tepig said to the young squirtle.
