Knowing he had to head out for his weekly adventure into the forest, Victor decided to invite a stranger he had met in the city the other day. It was a man of similar height and age who had recently arrived in Ashfield. He was another immigrant like Victor was. The man known as Nox had been through the forest before, but with half the pokemon Victor had, he figured the man could use his help in case any dangerous pokemon arrived.

Victor stood at the edge of the forest as he usually did when waiting for an adventure partner. Beside him was his first pokemon, Ghost. The white vulpix waited patiently by the trainer. The young fox had grown a lot since they met and Victor was proud of how strong she had gotten. On this shoulder, Wisp sat as usual, positioned as lookout to make sure no one would sneak up on them. The seedling was also enjoying the morning sunlight and the warmth that came from the rainforest.

In the backpack of the trainer, Nereid sat, peaking her eyes out to see where they were. She was always excited whenever they ventured out into the forest. She only wished she was strong enough to help them in combat since they always seemed to be getting into trouble. Victor didn’t want to bind her to a ball just yet. She was young and he felt her being out was better for bonding, even if he didn’t give as much attention to her as he did the older pokemon.

As usual, Victor kept Spirit in the ball. The bug was just way to unpredictable, especially around a new trainer. He’d likely attack on sight if Victor didn’t say anything. Bre’r and Spectre didn’t really need to be out at the moment. Victor hated to admit it, but the black lizard was a bit of oddball. He’d get distracted by a leaf blowing in the wind and wander off. The rabbit, however, was a mischievous one. Since the forest was where the rodent spent most of his life, the trainer worried he’d con them into another personal matter.

When Victor had invited him to go exploring the forest outside the city together, Nox had hesitated briefly. His first venture into the forest hadn't gone exactly as planned. But he also knew that the best way to get stronger and be able to survive in the forest was to keep exploring. And since Victor had more pokemon than he did and knew quite a bit about them he'd eventually agreed. And Nox, hoping to prove he wasn't a weakling, had venture into the forest alone a second time and gotten into trouble again. He and Azura had escaped but not before Azura had been hurt by some angry ghost. He'd captured the ghost to protect her and now he was stuck with it and the Poochyena that hated him. He was tempted to get rid of both of them, by trading them or giving them away, but who would want them? Releasing them was a tempting option but what if Angel couldn't go back to her group? She seemed too young to be entirely on her own. And that ghost...he just didn't trust it not to come back to take revenge on him.

He was considering all of these things as he approached the place Victor had told him they'd meet. Victor was already there and Nox eyed the pokemon with him. He hadn't seen these ones before but they seemed calm and confident. He spotted the blue and white Nereid in the man's bag and smiled at the young Corsola. He stopped alongside the other man, though kept a polite distance so that he didn't crowd the man or his pokemon. "Morning. Hungry? My..." He paused briefly. What should he call the woman who'd taken him in and was letting him stay with her? He wasn't sure they were friends, exactly. Kyrie had simply been kind enough to take him in and help teach him about the world. "The person I've been staying with baked these this morning. She said I needed to bring some for you as well." He said, holding unwrapping a pair of sweet rolls glazed with honey and filled with a mixture of fresh berries. If Victor didn't want one, Nox was more than happy to eat both of the treats himself. They were delicious.

"So how deep into the forest were you thinking of going? I haven't gone very far from town alone since Azura's still so young and I don't want to get caught out here if she gets hurt." He added, gaze shifting to the forest they stood next to. He was still a little wary of heading in there again but he refused to back out now. He wouldn't let fear hold him back. And who knows, perhaps they'd run into that white beast again. Kyrie hadn't heard of anything like it so he still had no name for the beast. Perhaps, if they saw it again, Victor would know what it was.

The two men's journey through the forest wouldn't go undisturbed for long, although the first Pokémon they would come across weren't particularly willing to cause trouble. As the two and their Pokémon walked along the path, they would eventually be able to spot three shapes, lying on the ground seemingly unmoving and certainly unmotivated.

One of them was flat and brown shaped, partially blending in with the ground. This one was likely grateful to its companions, because one could easily fail to notice the fish and step into it. The only body parts that could stand out were its wide-opened eyes and a yellow tail. With that in mind, the flat Pokémon was relaxing in the chilly winter sunlight that was peeking through the leaves far above them, knowing that it had its hard skin to defend itself. The Pokémon next to it was a black blob with multiple dark pink spikes coming out of its back. Its pink beady eyes showed no expression. The last Pokémon was similarly a blob in shape, but it was larger and light green. It was definitely the most defined out of the three, as it even had hands: very short and chubby ones, but it was something that her companions couldn't brag about. A yellow feather decorated her head.

The three Pokémon were barely moving and on first look, they could as well be dead. However, as the wanderers drew closer, the green Pokémon, easily the most mobile out of them, twitched uncomfortably, opening one eye slightly, taking in the sight of new arrivals, then yawned lazily.

"Hey, you're blocking the sunlight. Don't bother us," Gulpin said sleepily, although the weak sunlight that there was, was still shining onto her.

"Yes, please don't move me and go, bye," agreed the Pyukumuku in a dismissive voice.

"If you don't, I'll let you taste my secret weapon! I promise I will! I've killed Pokémon before! You have 15 seconds!" the Stunfisk moved up and down with a flapping sound, his blank face giving the travelers an expressionless gaze. His goofy look and a monotone voice implied didn't seem to back his statements up.

"Relax, friend. Just relax... They'll be gone soon..." Gulpin was practically yawning.

Victor spotted Nox arriving to thee meeting place. He was beginning to think he wouldn’t show up but relieved that he did. The trainer didn’t like wasting time and for a moment he thought that this was the case. The other trainer didn’t have his pokemon out which even if it made sense, he wondered if her had trouble with them. Victor understood what it was like dealing with pokemon who didn’t obey but if Nox didn’t have Azura he’d be in trouble.

As Nox approached him, he greeted and offered Victor some berries. The trainer was typically weary of taking things from people he barely knew but this guy seemed pretty genuine even if there wasn’t a whole lot to base that trust on. Victor took three berries, giving one to each of his pokemon, but not himself. He wasn’t really hungry since he had eaten early. He just thought it would be nice to treat his team. Ghost, Wisp, and Nereid each consumed them happily. According to Nox, the berries came from a stranger he was staying with. “Well, you tell her I said thank you, I guess.”

Nox wanted to know how far they were going into the forest. Apparently the other man hadn’t been very far before and he was pretty limited since his most reliable pokemon was aquatic. “Not too far. I’ve been all the way through once, but we’ll likely just do about a half a days worth and be back by night,” Victor explained. He knew how dangerous things could get the deeper they went through the trees and he didn’t want to be the reason they got killed. “We should probably get going though.” The trainer motioned for Nox to follow him as he began marching through the trees. Ghost skipped along the trainers in a playful manner.

As they began their journey through the forest it didn’t take long to come across a strange encounter. Spotting the three unusual pokemon, Victor halted in his tracks not wanting to agitate the strange creatures. The flat fish like pokemon, a pink and black blob, and another commonly found green blob, stood together in the path. Victor considered going around them but worried that they could attack at any sudden movement. “Be ready in case of anything,” he warned Nox.

Victor was no stranger to unpredictable situations and he knew this was odd. The creatures muttered something from what he could only assume was their mouths. It was very hard to tell under all that slime. Ghost stepped in front of her trainer, attempting to neutralize the situation. “We’ll be out of your way soon, promise!” the fox said happily, as she wagged her tails. She looked up at her trainer hoping he’d catch on to what she was about to do. The fox carefully walked around the odd pokemon and gestured and barked for her trainer to follow her.

Victor wasn’t really sure if it was a good idea, but the fox seemed to have thought so. The trainer slowly stepped around the blobs, stepping out of their sunlight to let them be. Wisp looked down at them giggling to himself. As frightened as he typically was these things didn't seem so scary. Though that gulpin could probably swallow him whole. In fact he changed his mind, he was worried. Making it to the other side of the path, Victor motioned for Nox to catch up but carefully.

Nox
As Victor took one of the pastries and broke it up to feed his pokemon, Nox wondered why he wouldn't take any for himself. True, the snacks weren't very big but there was definitely enough there for Victor to have some as well. Whatever the reason, if Victor didn't want one of the snacks for himself, Nox wasn't going to force him to eat one. Besides, if Victor didn't take one, that left more for Nox to enjoy! And he was quite happy to eat the remaining snack as they walked. "Of course. She'll be glad to hear you enjoyed them. Or your pokemon did anyway." He replied with a small laugh. He was pretty sure she hadn't intended the pastries to be eatn by the man's companions but as long as they were eaten and enjoyed she'd be happy.

At the answer to his question of how far they were going, Nox felt a bit uneasy. He knew the deeper they got into the forest the more dangerous things would be. That was why he'd stuck close to town. If they got into trouble, Nox wasn't sure how much help he'd actually be with only Azura who'd be willing to listen to him. He could try seeing if Angel might help but he wasn't sure he trusted her not to make things worse. The same was true for the ghost he had, thus far, refused to name. But Victor's pokemon all seemed to like him so maybe they'd be okay. "Sounds good. By the way, since you've been all the way through the forest, did you see any sort of water sources big enough for Azura to swim in and near enough for me to get to and from without too much trouble?" No one seemed to know of anywhere nearby that he could take her but maybe Victor had seen something. If not, Nox would keep looking.

As they set off, Nox was tempted to let Azura out of her pokeball and to just carry her but if they were walking for half a day or so he wasn't sure he could carry her that far. She wasn't overly heavy but he knew the longer he carried her the more tired he'd get. And she simply wasn't made for trekking across land for long periods of time. For now, she would remain comfortably tucked away in her pokeball. Maybe if they stopped for a rest he could let her out for awhile. While he was lost in thought, he didn't realize they'd come across some strange new pokemon and nearly ran into Victor when the man stopped.

In the middle of the path were three strange creatures Nox wasn't entirely certain how to describe. They didn't look like much and they certainly weren't being particularly hostile. But he also had no idea what the things might be capable of. Victor seemed to, or he simply thought it was best to be prepared, because he warned Nox to be ready for anything. Nox nodded and dropped his hand to Azura's pokeball, ready to release the Popplio if he needed to. The little white creature with Victor stepped forward with a few yips and a wag of her many tails before making her way around the group. Once she was 'safely' on the other side she turned and barked again. This seemed to be a signal for them to follow because Victor did exactly that and moved around the odd looking trio.

And now it was Nox's turn. Despite his earlier thoughts that the creatures didn't look particularly dangerous, he also wasn't about to test his luck. Following the path that Victor and his pokemon had taken, Nox edged around the trio and joined his companions back on the path. "Any idea what those things are? Or why they're just sitting there like that?" He questioned, relaxing just a little bit now that they had bypassed the trio.

The two trainers and the Pokémon that accompanied them made their way around the trio, just like the wild Pokémon had wanted. Gulpin didn't seem to show much of a reaction, Pyukumuku breathed out with relief and Stunfisk huffed scoldingly. It was mostly thanks to the white fox that they would soon be able to enjoy their peace again. Everything was working out just fine.

"Heeey, guess what time it is!"

The cheerful voice coming from within the forest could barely be heard over the loud stomps of heavy footsteps that accompanied it. The three wild Pokémon jumped and their faces froze in fear - as much as their barely mobile bodies and barely expressive faces would allow. They knew what was coming. And before long, if the humans cared to look back, they would know too.

Another Pokémon came running and stopped a few steps away from the path. It reached up to a regular human's knees and walked on four short and chubby legs that worked perfectly with its heavy, clumsy body. The Pokémon was light blue in color and had red pads on its most distinctive body parts: a trunk and a pair of large, floppy ears.

Phanpy stopped his charge because he saw that his friends had company. Human company, at that. The small elephant stepped back, uncertain about his next steps. The humans didn't seem to be too bothered with the unmoving trio, so perhaps it was safe?...

"I-is it time for sleep, Phanpy?" Pyukumuku's shaking, shy voice helped the elephant snapped out of it and pay more attention to his original goal. He smirked at the innocent question.

"NOPE! It's attack time!" the elephant cried out excitedly, playfully and innocently.

A choir of groans sounded from the relaxing Pokémon as Phanpy charged again, as carefree as if he hadn't seen the humans at all. He wasn't going to let them ruin his fun, after all. Dust gathered around his tiny legs as he rammed into the resting Pokémon, who were lined up in a convenient line, scattering them to the side. Each made a dismayed cry as the elephant slammed into them, while Phanpy laughed heartily. It stopped on the other side of the path and turned around at the mess it left behind. The trio was groaning with pain, each on a different spot, having landed uncomfortably on their sides or back, in the case of Stunfisk.

"You guys are bad at guessing! Okay, okay, now who wants to go for a walk?!"

Phanpy seemed innocently unfazed by the hurt Pokémon as it was swinging to the side happily and waving its trunk around. The lazy trio shivered.

"D-do we have to, Phanpy? You only carried us here recently..."

Wisp used GRASS WHISTLE on Phanpy!

Victor could only recall one body of water big enough for Azura to enjoy. Unfortunately the one time he visited it, he and his friends almost died. Perhaps it was best not to mention it to avoid not giving the travelling companion any ideas. The trainer just shook his head to tell Nox “no.” As rude as it seemed it was for the best.

Catching back up to the strange encounter of odd pokemon that Victor had stepped around, Nox had asked another question. The trainer was too focused on trying not to disturb the squishy pokemon that he didn't really think about it. “I’m not sure, but let’s just hope we can get out of here before we find out,” Victor said as he looked down at them, hoping they didn't initiate as attack.

It was unfortunate that despite not disturbing them that Victor and his allies were going to find out immediately what they were dealing with. Wisp who was watching his trainers back spotted a young elephant rolling in their direction. The seedling panicked and shrieked as a warning to the party. Victor and ghost turned around immediately to spot the pokemon heading his way. The trainer and the fox moved away in time to not get rammed into.

The phanpy had blurted out some noises from its trunk at the blobby pokemon and Victor thought it was best to take this as an opportunity to go. Ghost seemed as if she wanted to jump in and help. Her trainer could tell by the sound of her whine and the concerned look on her face. The weird pokemon were grumpy but they didn't deserve to be trampled over. “Ghost, no girl,” her trainer commanded. The fox lowered her ears. She understood what “no” meant. She would not act if her trainer decided so.

Wisp, however, scared as usual could tell that despite it making sense to walk away, Ghost wanted to help even if she was told not to. The seedling thought that he could at least try and help as best he could. The budew let out a grass whistle at the blue mammal, hoping to put it to sleep. The strange pokemon could wiggle away. At least, that’s what he would want to do if he were them.

Nox
So Victor didn't know of any water sources near enough for Nox to take Azura. It was disappointing but he wasn't about to give up. There had to be something out there. At least they had the large basin that Kyrie used to wash clothes in. It wasn't really big enough for Azura to play in and they couldn't fill it for her every day, but when they could she enjoyed being able to lounge in the basin. Maybe he'd see about finding someone who could make something similar but on a larger scale, something Azura would have space to play around in. It was something he'd have to consider since no one seemed to have any idea where to find any significant bodies of water nearby.

He also didn't seem to know what the trio of odd looking pokemon were either. He simply suggested they keep moving and, with no particular reason to argue with, Nox nodded and moved to follow Victor further into the forest. They didn't get more than a few steps before the little green, plant-like pokemon on Victor's shoulder made a shrieking sound, causing Victor and the white fox at his feet to turn. Nox turned as well and frowned at the sight of the strange blue creature. What was it up to? It made some sounds at the three other pokemon before charging right at them and scattering the unfortunate group. "Hey! That wasn't nice." Nox stated at about the same time Victor was telling his pokemon not to attack. The little fox backed off but the green creature made an odd whistling sound. It was pleasant and oddly soothing and Nox had to blink and shake his head when he realized it was making him feel tired.

Uncertain of what the soothing sounds might accomplish against the blue thing, Nox reached for Azura's pokeball. If it came down to a fight, he trusted her to do as he said and not make things worse, at least not intentionally. He didn't call her out yet, however, opting to wait and see what happened before taking action. If the whistle had the same effect on the blue thing as it had on him, maybe they could just move on. Though, maybe they could at least move the strange trio of pokemon somewhere safer first. Somewhere they wouldn't get stepped on or trampled by more pokemon like that blue one. "Well what now? I don't want to just leave these guys where they are to be picked on by that blue one." He did want to help, but if Victor said it was too dangerous and walked away well...Nox wasn't about to stick around by himself. Not after the last times he'd tried to help something. It hadn't turned out very well in the end. He had, at least, done what he'd set out to do and helped save the little Wurmple but Azura had been hurt in the process. At least case he had backup in case things went south this time, though he couldn't help but wonder if Victor would actually help him if that happened. He really didn't know the man very well, after all.

The three small Pokémon stared at Phanpy’s body, that moved only with his deep inhales and exhales, letting the events sink in. Gulpin was the first to accept what had just happened.

”We won! It really is sleep time!”

The green blob bounced up and down a few times, her hands waving victoriously with each move. The other Pokémon wanted to join in, but they could only manage to barely lift the side of their bodies (in Stunfisk’s case) or wiggle their entire shape (in Pyukumuku’s case), all while their eyes shined in joy. Gulpin turned to the humans and her gaze caught a Pokémon that somewhat resembled her: small, green and mostly round. She identified Wisp as the reason for their victory.

”Thank you, green traveler! You have spared us the trouble of, uhm, playing with him…”

”Hip hip hooray!” squeaked Pyukumuku to back her up.

Gulpin made an effort to jump forward, toward Victor and his Budew, with a heavy pant. ”How could we pay you back for your efforts?”

The trio was mostly ignoring everyone aside from Wisp, their eyes focused on the seedling. Stunfisk was growing a little impatient with the celebrations, though, so he eventually looked away and continued sitting flat on the ground, waiting for his friends to also return to their planned relax. He even made an annoyed groan as one of the humans spoke. It was frustrating how they made all these weird, incomprehensible sounds.

With the successful knock out from Wisp, Victor saw this as the perfect time to keep going. The only thing that was keeping him was the fact that Nox seemed to want to stick around and help out the gooey looking pokemon. Victor didn’t really see a point but he wasn’t just going to leave Nox standing there when the point of this adventure was to travel together. The trainer looked down on the strange trio of pokemon who had seemed to be celebrating at the simple defeat of the blue creature. It didn’t seem really friendly and it was extremely weird that it would just be torturing these wild pokemon. Such actions were more familiar with demons or ghosts. W

isp looked down at the celebrating pokemon from Victor’s shoulder. He felt accomplished in his effort to help and the pokemon were thanking him. “Y-you’re welcome,” he squeaked. In the midst of the celebrating, the gulpin came forward suddenly, scaring Wisp. The seedling assumed the green blob was coming to inhale him into his belly. But there was only a slight flinch from the budew who tried to keep his cool. The blob asked for a way to pay back the seedling. “O-oh, it was nothing,” he said nervously.

Victor looked down at the gulpin who drew near. He gave a slight look of disgust with the squint of one of his eyes. Stepping back a foot, he didn’t want the blob to touch him and get its goop on his boots. There was also the fact that he wasn’t entirely sure what it was doing or groaning on about. The trainer looked over to his traveling companion, Nox and sighed. “Well, I guess we should go. The phanpy is out and the rest of these blobs are creeping me out.” Victor wondered what would happen if the elephant woke and the slimes were still around. Would it attack again? Would the slimes even try to move while it was asleep? Either way, it was none of his business and he wanted to get away from the scene as soon as possible.

Nox
The blue creature stumbled and dropped to the ground, apparently unconscious...or perhaps just asleep given that the sounds the little green creature had made seemed to have that effect. Either way the creature was no longer a threat and the other three seemed happy to have it out of commission. Two of the three hopped toward Victor, making odd sounds as they looked up at him. Nox had to hide his amusement at the way Victor backed away from them.

As Victor turned to him and spoke, Nox felt a little torn. He wanted to at least move the blobby little trio to safety but Victor clearly wanted to simply move on. Well, the Phanphy (Nox made a mental note of the term Victor had used for the blue thing) wasn't going to be causing any trouble for a moment. While it was asleep, the other three could do as they pleased and move off on their own since they seemed capable enough of doing so, albeit with difficulty. So he nodded and motioned for Victor to continue on. While they walked, Nox decided to try and fill the silence a little. "Have you ever had to deal with a pokemon that won't listen to you or tries to run away?" He questioned, thinking of the Poochyena he'd captured. Angel hated him. He couldn't really blame her either. If he could figure out how to get her to be more friendly that would be great.

((Sorry this is kinda short. Wasn't sure what more to do since they weren't battling anything, lol))

encounter results
Alright, so this encounter ended quickly and painlessly with Phanpy's unexpected nap time. It was a swift solution, although now Terrene will never know the backstory of how Pyukumuku got here! ;(

Anyway, Wisp is the only one gaining anything here: +1 exp for using Grass Whistle on Phanpy and +1 respect of woodland blobs.

As the two continued their journey, the forest would be quiet and calm, giving them plenty of time to chat. They would only be perhaps disturbed by the regular sounds of the woods in the distance: the rustling of leaves, some Pokémon cries or chirps, the blowing wind...

But eventually the two men would notice that a certain sound was repeating itself and growing louder. And it would be apparent why if they would look to their side to a small forest clearing. At first glance there wasn't anything of interest and the repeated high-pitched, distressed chirps could as well be coming from deeper in the forest. But the bird that was crying so insistently was actually perched on a tree branch, paying little attention to the travelers. It was small, with its back, wings and tail colored dark blue, a red spot on its face and white belly. The Taillow was intensely looking at a branch higher up, flapping his wings angrily.

Another bird-like Pokémon sat on the same tree. This one was larger and looked more like a child in a bird costume: with an overall humanoid shape, a regular mouth below its beak-like nose and hands at the ends of its wings. Its mouth expressed a light smirk and its legs that freely swung off the branch. There was a large, light-purple berry on Hawlucha's lap.

"I found it first! You can't just take it from me," Taillow whined, again flapping his wings to mark his words. Hawlucha seemed unfazed by the smaller Pokémon's complaints, shrugging dismissively.

"You weren't there when I found it, so now it's mine. Big deal."

"But, but, you're not even eating it! You could hunt yourself something bigger! And for me... This is all I have!"

Hawlucha glanced down at the berry without much interest. Taillow had a point, he didn't care for this berry as much... It definitely wasn't worth listening to all this whining. And silencing this Taillow could mean trouble, he likely had a flock somewhere in the forest... The humanoid sighed, picking up the berry. He shot the passing humans a mischievous gaze, having noticed them earlier but not minding much. Then he looked at Taillow again.

"Fine. You've convinced me," he paused for just enough time for Taillow to open its beak into what looked like a wide smile, then continued, "If you want it so much, go get it."

The only reaction Taillow had the time for was a change of expression: from a satisfied smile to surprised stare to a terrified grimace. Hawlucha grabbed the berry, swung his arm and tossed the fruit powerfully across the entire clearing, right at the humans. If the humanoid bird calculated correctly, it should fly right at Nox.

Taillow shrieked in dismay, flapping his wings to fly up from the tree, but he stopped midair, hesitating to come close to the humans. The two watched the berry fly and listened to its panicked screech, "Eeeek noooooo!"

Taillow had other worries, but Hawlucha blinked in surprise. Were berries supposed to scream as they were tossed?...

Nox
Having left the blob pokemon and the dozing Phanpy behind, their journey was back to being calm and quiet. The normal sounds of the jungle a pleasant backdrop to their conversation. If every trip into the forest was this peaceful, Nox wouldn't mind exploring more often. But, as his previous experiences had taught him, that was not usually the case. He wasn't quite willing to let himself relax completely, despite the fact things seemed to be going so well, and when he started to hear a consistent sound, something that seemed out of place in the general noise of the jungle, he frowned and glanced around them. "Do you hear that? I wonder where it's coming from and what it is." He commented, glancing briefly at Victor to see if he seemed concerned. The sounds were closer now and a bit more distinct, a chirping sound from somewhere off to the side. He didn't immediately see anything but he was sure whatever was making the sounds was nearby.

He paused, unsure if he was willing to go searching for the cries of distress or to just keep moving. On one hand, he didn't want to appear foolish in front of the only other person who'd taken any sort of time to interact with him. On the other, he didn't feel right leaving a creature that could be injured or in need of help. Except that pausing put him in a direct line of fire from something in the trees. A rustle and a screech made him turn and he saw something round and pink flying right toward him. Forgetting for a moment that he wasn't alone, he tried to step out of the way and, unless Victor moved, would back right into his traveling companion. Unfortunately, Nox wasn't quite quick enough and whatever had been thrown at him hit him square in the chest knocking him backward a few more steps since he was already off balance and unprepared for something of that size and weight to hit him.

As he recovered, he looked at the thing that had struck him. At first glance it looked like a berry and he considered picking it up since but promptly discarded that idea when he realized the 'berry' had been what was screeching. Glancing back to the tree he was pretty sure the berry-thing had come from, he spotted a bird in the lower branches. He recognized it as a Taillow, having seen them around the city, but he was pretty sure it had not thrown the berry at him. A bit more looking and he spotted a second figure higher up in the tree. I looked, at least from where he stood, more like a small child in brightly colored clothes than a pokemon. "Is that...some kid up there or is that a pokemon?" He questioned, motioning toward the brightly colored figure.

Moving passed the blobs and the playful creature, Victor listened as Nox continued asking questions. The man wanted to know about Victor’s struggles with a pokemon that wouldn’t listen. This was something that the trainer was all too familiar with. There were plenty of times where Ghost would just act on her own accord in her youth but the more time they spent together she began picking up on his authority. She wasn’t exactly disobedient but she had her moments of action.

Spirit was the real trouble. He has never once listened to Victor’s commands and honestly has no idea about what or cares about what the human says. “Yeah just one. I caught him against his will and it’s been a real struggle to earn any kind of trust. To be honest I’m still working on it and may be a long way off,” Victor looked up at the trees as he got lost in thought about how far he had come with the ledyba. “But, if you don’t put in the time, no bond will ever be formed. Even if it’s just a little one.”

No matter how Nox chose to respond or if he did not, the two adventurers would eventually come across a new encounter of wild pokemon that would surely be interesting. Victor had grown used to ignoring the sounds of the wild pokemon. Most of the time they were just calling to each other and it wasn’t like he understood what they were communicating. It was Nox that seemed curious to the sounds of the strange pokemon within the trees above.

Looking up to see what Nox was talking about, Victor was shocked to see the round pink object flying toward his traveling companion. Seeing that the other trainer was preparing to react to the flying berry looking object. Victor and his pokemon stepped out of the way, even if Ghost kind of stumbled a bit because she was far from aware of the situation at hand. She only reacted to her trainer’s movements. The auburn-haired trainer watched as Nox was hit directly in the chest by the pink object. The object hit the floor and immediately Victor and his team locked their sights onto it. Was that a giant berry?

Victor kneeled down to observe the berry, only to notice its breathing. It was a pokemon, but not one the trainer was familiar with. Ghost took a good whiff of the bounsweet. It smelled so sweet that she had to fight the urge to take a lick or bite of the pokemon. Wisp, who was sitting on Victor’s shoulders was intrigued. It was a sweet-smelling grass type pokemon like him. The grass part not the sweet smelling. Wisp wasn’t entirely sure what he smelled like anyway. The bounsweet was so interesting to him and he had no idea why, other than the very obvious reason that he just came flying through the air.

It was a complete mystery as to how this poor pokemon wound up being tossed through the air toward the trainers, but Nox’s observations of the area gave them a slight idea. After hearing him ask a question, Victor look up into the trees to see the strange colorful bird standing on a branch. It wasn’t the first time he and his team encountered this species and he knew how tough they could be. The hawlucha much have thrown the berry-like pokemon at Nox and perhaps it was a warning or merely for kicks. Either way, the trainer hoped they could get by with no trouble.

“It’s a pokemon. Seems pretty young so it shouldn’t be too much of a threat. Let’s hope it doesn’t attack,” Victor replied. “I’ll leave this one up to you. What do you think we should do?” the trainer asked, curious as to how Nox would handle such an encounter. Whatever the human decided to do, Wisp and Ghost hoped they didn’t harm the berry pokemon. Nereid was just oblivious to the entire situation. She was still in the backpack and could only take a scent of the bounsweet. This made the corsola think she was about to be fed soon.

As Bounsweet noticed that she was flying straight into a human, she was panicking even more. Who knew what was going to happen next? Humans were unpredictable. She couldn't do anything to change her fate, though, so she almost lifelessly struck one of the man's chest and bounced off, landing on the ground. She was breathing heavily, wheezing and making her true nature a little more obvious to those who still believed she was just a berry. The recent events had been both painful and mentally draining to her.

Taillow was watching the berry Pokémon from his high position, trying to ignore the humans. His tiny heart was pounding. The berry was his, he believed, noticing that the berry was moving and making sounds, but not really caring too much. It could be a Pokémon, but it was a delicious Pokémon that he had been planning to eat... Despite the various obstacles, such as Hawlucha, who was giggling victoriously from the tree, and now the humans.

Taillow frowned and took a deep inhale. In a sudden wave of courage, he decided to act. He swooped down, his eyes focused on Bounsweet in a tunnel vision. The berry cried out in panic as the possibility of being stuck in some bird's claws was becoming dangerously real. She squeaked and ran around the closest human, the one without any Pokémon out, to see safety behind his legs. She moved her stumpy legs fast enough to get in the position before it was too late. Taillow halted midair, a few steps away from the humans and around the level of their heads. He swallowed nervously.

"You, humans! Give me back my berry or... I'll peck you!"

He wasn't sure if the humans would understand his warning, but perhaps their Pokémon would translate somehow. The bird tried to make his normally squeaky and endearing voice sound intimidating, but all he got was a cute Growl attack, aimed at no one in particular.

The Bounsweet was shaking as she clung to the human's legs. At this point she felt like she was just choosing her own poison, as both the birds and the humans were potential danger, but... at least the humans hadn't actively tried to kill her. Yet.

"Please help me..." she wept almost inaudibly, praying for mercy.
