Welcome

Our old universe has fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

The biggest event of the season- of the year, even- is the Anniversary Fair, and it is here again! We have a scary story contest. Our plot events are still going strong.

Season

Autumn will be here until December. All of Terrene is cooling by degrees; those in Ashfield scarcely notice because it never truly gets cold there, though they will notice the decreased rains and humidity. Winds pick up, particularly in the southern areas. Ghost types are more common this season.

Luke and Arlene Shepherd

50 - Male - Heterosexual
40 - Female - Heterosexual
Mareep Herder and Clothmaker Of Crater City

Beginnings

Luke is a pretty simple man. He arrived in Terrene in his early twenties, and a Lillipup joined up with him. Inspired by his new herding dog, he decided he was going to raise livestock. He started out by building a Pidove coop not far from Ashfield City. However, as he grew wealthier off the sale of delicious eggs, meat, and soft downy feathers for stuffing bedding, he decided to purchase a Blitzle from the market and move a bit further North, away from the quickly-growing city. He settled right along the road between Ashfield and Crater City, just a few hours ride from Crater (or about 3/4 of a day of walking). With the help of his Blitzle, he was able to drag wood from the not-too-far-off Great Forest. The ample source of wood, combined with the easily-cleared land, allowed him to consider expanding his flock. He trained his Blitzle to pull a small wagon that allowed him to bring his goods to either city. The good exercise allowed his Blitzle to grow and evolve quickly, and he was soon a proud owner of a Zebstrika.

He was in the middle of building a large, industrial-sized aviary for his Pidove and Unfezant flock, when he was got an extreme stroke of good fortune. The hole between universes opened up less than half a mile away from his new structure, and dozens of Mareep poured into Lion's Plains. He was lucky enough to be outside, tending to his Pidove with the help of his Herdier, and he saw the flashes of light as Mareep frantically discharged their electricity in random directions as they tumbled and flailed into the new world.

Within minutes, he had saddled up his trusty electric steed, and he was galloping out to see the Mareep with his Herdier bounding alongside. The Mareep were dazed, confused, and milling about uncertainly. Between the noisy Herdier and the large Zebstrika, a bit over half of them were easily herded towards the aviary. Luke opened up the main entrance, letting out a decent number of Pidove in the process, and his Herdier yapped at the Mareeps until they bumbled into the shelter.

With the remainder of his savings, he hired extra hands on to help expedite the process of converting the aviary to a barn, as well as build a solid sturdy fence large enough to keep out even the Pyroar, surrounding a swath of the Lion's Plains.

Now he made trips to both Ashfield and Crater with heaps of wool every year, and still a fair number of eggs. He was about 35 when became quite well-known as a fair trader who dealt in the finest of wool and feathers, and occasionally mutton and poultry meat. One of the tradeswoman who sought out his wool to turn into cloth was an attractive 25 year old named Arlene.

Arlene

Arlene, a beautiful and talented craftswoman who has a fondness for growing things and Grass-Type Pokemon, started off making money in Ashfield City buying whatever materials she could off of hunters and farmers and turning it into cloth to sell or sew into clothes. She grew her own berries and vegetables in an effort to get enough to eat. She didn't make enough money to buy a proper house, so she lived about a mile out of Ashfield City, in a small shack built of large branches and mud, and covered with the remnants of a tent someone had thrown away. It wasn't an easy life, but she always had her Pokemon at her side to help her. When she arrived as an immigrant in her early teens, she had been granted a Numel. Without her, Arlene would likely have perished in the cold and the wild, or sunken into a deep depression at her situation.

Her stubborn but true Numel, whom she fondly called Paint, helped build her meager shelter, and was vital in tilling a small area where she could grow some plants. Paint also assisted her in capturing several Sewaddle, who, after many months of patient training and coddling, Arlene befriended them enough for them to evolve into Leavanny, and convinced them to assist her in making cloth.

Arlene lived like this for several years: growing berries and maintaining her stick-and-mud shelter with the help of Paint, buying cloth-making material from the market, and supervising the Leavanny team making cloth.

One day, she heard rumors that a new source of cloth was to be found. Apparently, out of nowhere, a man came to the market one day with bags and bags full of Mareep wool. Arlene needed to meet this man, and indeed she did. She was enchanted by the soft, fluffy wool, and she fell in love with his kindness and gentleness.

After a relatively brief courtship (Arlene wasn't one to deny a respectable, well-off, and kind man), they married. They had a child, and continued tending their farm and raising their Pokemon, living a good, honest life.

Today

Luke travels between the cities selling his goods: wool, high quality cloth, various qualities of wool clothes (courtesy of his wife and her Leavanny team), feathers, eggs, Pidove meat. About half the time, Arlene accompanies him, as she knows a lot more about the cloth and clothing that she is responsible for.

Their daughter is rather shy and doesn't interact with people much, but she loves the Pokemon and the farm, particularly the babies. She is usually in the barn, tending to the sick or youngest Pokemon. Very rarely, she might accompany her parents to the market in Crater or Ashfield.

He hires ranch hands, either short term or long term. He's more likely to take on temporary ranch hands during the hatching season (spring), the shearing season (early-mid summer), as he prefers more permanent ranch hands for the actual shepherding the Mareep to pasture and back. However, temporary hands may also do this job, as long as they're accompanied by him or one of his generic permanent ranch hands.

When he's sold all his wares in one city, he's willing to escort people between Ashfield and Crater City if you catch him before he leaves, but he charges extra premium for rude people as he'd rather avoid that kind of toxicity.

Summary: fairly well-off; happily married with a child (now almost 15); lives along the road between Ashfield and Crater City (closer to Crater); will escort people between the two cities; sells wool, cloth, clothes, feathers, eggs, meat at markets; known for his kindness and simple, go-with-the-flow attitude towards life; sometimes accompanied by his wife at market

Notes
Scruffy is Luke's starter Pokemon that arrived and followed him from the moment he entered Terrene. The Big-Hearted Pokemon would sacrifice anything for Luke or his family, and he is a hard-working farm dog as much as he is a part of the family. Scruffy goes nowhere unless it's with Luke or Luke's daughter. Whenever he doesn't have an active task at hand, he trains as hard as he can so that he can protect Luke from the roaming Pyroar, or possible burglars, or any other threat under the sun. He is a formidable foe if you endanger his family, but he is gentle and caring with youngsters in general.
Dasher
Male Zebstrika
Type:
Electric
Ability:
Lightningrod
Level:
55
Loyalty:
75%
Moves
Ion Deluge ◒ Quick Attack ◒ Tail Whip ◒ Charge ◒ Thunder Wave ◒ Shock Wave ◒ Flame Charge ◒ Pursuit ◒ Spark ◒ Stomp ◒ Discharge ◒ Agility ◒ Wild Charge ◒ Thrash
Notes
Dasher's Lightningrod ability has come in handy more than once when corralling unruly Mareep. He is an integral part of the team, not to mention a large, strong horse capable of pulling the cart that Luke rides in to bring his goods to the market. He gets plenty of strength and speed training, and he finds great satisfaction in serving the man who he once saw as a captor.
Ribbons
Female Herdier
Type:
Normal
Ability:
Scrappy
Level:
25
Loyalty:
35%
Moves
PURSUIT ◒ Leer ◒ Tackle ◒ Odor Sleuth ◒ Bite ◒ Helping Hand ◒ Take Down ◒ Work Up ◒ Crunch
Notes
Ribbons is Scruffy's apprentice, of sorts, and she has a big crush on the Stoutland. Luke sought her out as their Mareep herd continued to grow larger and larger, and he felt he needed to give Scruffy some help. Ribbons is quite smart, and catches on quickly to things. She is eager to please, and readily follows Luke's orders, but she honestly cares more for Scruffy than any of her humans. By extension, however, she is willing to put herself in danger to protect that which Scruffy cares most about.
Mareeps
(Both Genders)
Type:
Electric
Ability:

Level:

Loyalty:
varies, but mostly around 15%
Moves
EGG MOVES IN CAPS ◒ move ◒ move ◒ move ◒ TM/HM moves in italics
Notes
A herd of Mareep, all descendants of the original thirty two Mareep that Luke managed to coral together. They don't get much exercise other than just walking to and from their feeding grounds.

They don't particularly like Luke (or his family), but he treats them fairly well all things considered, so they're okay with him. Even though he takes their eggs away and sometimes doesn't come back with the resulting newborn Mareep...

Pidoves/Unfezants
(Both Genders)
Type:
Normal/Flying
Ability:

Level:
varies wildly, between 32 (breeders) and 2 (most of them)
Loyalty:
varies, but mostly around 10%
Moves
EGG MOVES IN CAPS ◒ move ◒ move ◒ move ◒ TM/HM moves in italics
Notes
A flock of Pidove line Pokemon. Their numbers fluctuate too much to really put any kind of good estimate here, but probably at least a dozen breeders at any given time, plus however many he's raising to send to the market.

His Pidove and Unfezants do not like him much. Given the opportunity, they'd probably try to escape. They are used largely for eggs and meat, and they are aware of that. Between Scruffy and that darn electric-type, Dasher, however, they are kept in line pretty well.

Paint
Female Camerupt
Type:

Ability:
Solid Rock, trained to have Magma Armor
Level:

DEFENSE CURL ◒ ROLLOUT ◒ Rock Slide ◒ Fissure ◒ Eruption ◒ Growl ◒ Tackle ◒ Ember ◒ Focus Energy ◒ Magnitude ◒ Flame Burst ◒ Amnesia ◒ Lava Plume ◒ Earth Power ◒ Curse ◒ Take Down ◒ Yawn
Notes
Paint is very stubborn and steadfast, but also devoted to her human Arlene. She tills areas for berry planting and helps build stuff that needs a good coat of mud insulation. She has little patience, and only occasionally is willing to allow Luke to touch her or help around the Mareep.
Carter, Spinnerette, Weaver, Sawyer
3 male, 1 female Leavanny
Type:
Bug/Grass
Ability:
varies
Level:
varies, but quite low
Loyalty:
varies, but around 50%
Moves
EGG MOVES IN CAPS ◒ move ◒ move ◒ move ◒ TM/HM moves in italics
Notes
She spends almost everyday with her team of sewing Leavannies, so it makes sense that they'd be rather attached to her, and she them. However, they are fairly low level and very unused to battle. They would be taken out quite easily if it came down to it.
