Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new universe, this new world, and give it purpose. (Our site is best viewed in Firefox or Chrome.)

Events

It's the most wonderful
time of the year- meaning, the time of Delibird gifts and of winter festivals! And as always, our plot events are still going strong.

Season

winter will be here until
March. Aside from the western Great Forest, which is too warm, and the Desert Strip, which is too dry, snow begins to fall across the region. The chill of the season has just about every area firmly in its grasp. Ice and Dark types become more common as the temperature drops and the daylight fades.

Lucine Ramos
41 - Female - Heterosexual
Appearance
Lucine is a waifish woman standing at five foot and five inches. Her expression is always clouded with a permanent, stern scowl that is keen on judging anyone that crosses her path. No matter what the situation is, be it positive or negative, her scowl remains which left deep wrinkles between her brows and her forehead. Her skin tone is a pale shade of light olive, and has a large, warped shoulder scar stretching from her midback to her collarbone that is visible from her time in the Suffering Universe whenever she wears lighter clothing during the warmer seasons. She tends to wear modest clothes because of this, wearing mostly buttoned-up blouses for her choice of tops unless the weather demands her to wear light to prevent overheating.

Her eyes are almond-shaped and dark as they come, often displaying that trademark stern glare upon individuals who she doesn't know. To those that are close to her, she softens them into a more warmer, gentler gaze but this has been rarely seen with most people for the woman just looks bitter most of the time. Coming down to her mid back, her dark brown hair shows off stunning natural highlights of lighter brown under the sun, but dims to a darker tone during night time. It is kept straight naturally, but it does curl into waves during humid weather or when it is drenched by water. She keeps her hair tied when she is working something that requires her hands, keeping it in a bun or a neat ponytail to keep her locks away from her face.

She has a round, heart-shaped face that she tries to keep well moisturized to retain her youth, despite the technologies that are lacking to develop makeup in Terrene. Sadly for her, Lucine has obvious wrinkles left from her early middle-aged life and but it does not bother her too much due to all the work she has to deal with. She has deeply set nasolabial folds around her mouth even when she isn't smiling, and other fine lines that are scattered around her facial frame to show proof of the stress and guilt that plagues her daily.

Due to being prone to possessing a colder body in comparison to the average person, Lucine wears many layers unless it is sweltering hot in the summer. Her outfit is reminiscent of the "Mori-Kei" fashion because of her color choices to wear are earthy in shade, and it makes her appear like some forest doll that have been abandoned under the sunlight for ages. She enjoys picking out pretty clothes, despite most of her clothes are second hand and picked up from disposals. They appear to be busy but really simple, mostly consisting of lace, knit, or gossamer types of fabric layered over each other to show a bit of each fabric. Her favorite accent of her outfit is a dark, earthy red-brown scarf that she was given as a present by a certain someone, keeping her slender neck warm and preventing her from catching the common cold.

Her body feels cold to the touch, especially her hands, so she keeps on knitted mittens or gloves to keep them warm. Her feet are covered by comfortable granny boots, fitted and kept bundled by knitted socks. They are her valuables, often gathering up some tokens aside to purchase them from the shepherds of Terrene when she isn't busy assisting with her job. Without these articles of clothing, her hands and feet will be surprisingly cold to the touch even in balmy summer weather.

Lucine's voice, whenever someone she met hears her speaking will note that she's frail. Her strengths lay in her resolve in her work and can sound apathetic to those that listens to her. Still, they are held sternly and coldly to strangers and acquaintances that work below her ranking. Rumor has it amongst her acquaintances that she can sound kind at times, but it's a rare occurrence with those that do not know her well enough. They say she reserves that kind of tone to only those who are absolutely close, which melts away her cold exterior.

Despite her thin figure, she does possess some muscle tone from her constant work around for certain projects and traveling with her group. They aren't very showy, but it is enough for the physical labor she has to put forward at times. She tries to keep this muscle mass by light exercise, like yoga or simple warm-ups before she starts a new day.

Personality
Her outlook on life is terribly negative, never giving a smile unless she's with her closest circle of friends that she'll rarely confirm that they are her friends. Mired in depression the plagues her mind on a daily basis, the guilt of her mostly unforgotten past twisted her mind into the person Lucine is today. This negative aspect of her still pushes her forward to do her best in her work, just so she has something to lean on to save and assist the people around her so they don't need to deal with the mental turmoil she has to deal with. Despite this, she's still a depressive mess internally, just filled with doubt and guilt with only one hope for the projects bringing some positive gains in the technology-lacking world of Terrene.

Harsh and quick to judge strangers, Lucine will see if someone will be helpful to the cause when she sees them. She is a "no-nonsense" kind of lady, mistakes will only disappoint her greatly and put her faith low to anyone who makes a grave slip-up in a project. If she feels that she can't work with the individual or feels them as more of a burden to continue placing her trust in, she will deem them as useless and pretend they don't exist to her in a cold manner. Many will find her unapproachable due to her extremely strict personality, but once an individual manages to impress her, they might just earn a hard-earned trust from this horribly stingy woman.

When down resting by herself, this woman is grieving on bitter memories and anger towards herself overwhelms her greatly by her Suffering Universe recollections. The only way she gains control of her overwhelming negative emotions is through her partner's powers to calm her down, and an exercise session to vent out her stress. The what ifs and the possibilities of if she tried any better in her past leaves her resentful of her life, leaving her mind in a state of shambles as she beats herself for being alive while the rest of her close companions have not survived.

Adding on top of her negativity is her crippling apathy for anything that isn't revolving around her work. She really doesn't care what people have to say about her or her horrible personality, she only cares about the results of the projects she works on and nothing more. Lucine feels that having a huge following amongst complete strangers is a waste of time, seeing that if she has enough time making friends outside of her work, then she has more time dedicated to her projects. Due to this horrible aspect to her personality, she sees no value in her life as it should only be spent for the greater good.

Additionally, Lucine can become easily irritated and has no patience for anything that may annoy her in the slightest, Lucine can easily become cold or angered, even at herself, but it's mostly towards incompetent assistants or immaturity. It's only luck that she managed to have a fairy pokemon to ease her nerves when she does get like this, or most of the time she represses it and vents out her irate feelings for a later time in the comfort of her own privacy.

In contrast to her heavily pessimistic personality, Lucine is highly determined as an individual. She enjoys keeping herself busy with her work, looking for any milestones reached and scouting out for any possible hints to find answers. If anything, she sees work as a way to continue on with her life, and if problems may arise at any occasion, she sees to rise up and look for more answers to solve to continue her duty to keep the world's development going. Some people say that whenever she is busy at a task, that is the only time she is truly happy because she is making progress, even in little increments, no matter what.

She can be a little solitary in her downtime or off work, keeping to herself whenever she doesn't need to interact with folks. Lucine prefers to have this time off from socializing, winding down and recharging her social exhaustion by strolling by herself or bird watching. (One of her favorite activities is bird pokemon watching, since she's always looking at how the birds appeared in the wild. Their feathers are absolutely gorgeous in the eyes of this woman, and she always looks forward to seeing them nest and go on about their daily lives at the comfort of their own flock.) Being unsociable, Lucine doesn't find the need to actively look for friends, or looking kind for anyone, so this woman prefers to keep to herself or hang around her closest companions. Avoiding strangers most of the time unless they are in need of help, she makes it her number one priority to keep her secrecy by remaining silent and hidden from the public eye.

Heavily responsible in her field of work to check any mistakes and taking fault when she's made some, it's not the only thing she actually holds that kind of thought over. She's quite thoughtful over her pokemon's well-being, even if she seems to have a cold exterior of uncaring. She takes it up to her own task to look after pokemon that she may come across that are injured, or any stranger that may have wandered off at a wrong path and found themselves in trouble. Sure, Lucine is awfully sour in personality, but it doesn't stop her from trying to help out a person in need out of sheer altruism. She simply thinks that just because she has to suffer for her work doesn't mean everyone else has to.

Despite her internal struggles to keep her stress levels in check, she's rather calm - or at least externally. She lacks trying to show emotions in front of strangers and people she just barely knows about, which gives the illusion that she isn't upset with you, even if she can be for any reason in particular. Actually, she can be acting a bit too calm - bordering on unemotional expressions that look too uninterested in others and what they have to say unless they can interest her greatly. Still, she takes upon herself to keep herself calm on the beliefs that if she fakes it, she'll actually feel calm about her daily strife and struggles. Not that it actually works, but the woman hopes that someday it'll work its charm.

Generous when time calls for it, Lucine can show this side when she sees someone in need or someone less fortunate than her. She doesn't feel too attached to the things she possessed and is willing to hand them over to aid strangers that need them more, except a few items, due to a fragment of a maternal attitude left from her time in the Suffering Universe. Not that she would show too much of her emotions when she is taking care of someone, unless it is someone she's quite familiar with. Despite the lack of positive or negative emotions shown when tending to another, the woman genuinely feels the need to be kind to others even when she has a difficult time displaying anything that proves it otherwise.

Lastly, Lucine is fully dedicated to anything she sets her mind on, nowadays it's to her work that she puts most of her time into. She's also devoted to the ones she had allied with all this time that she has resided in the lands of Terrene, willing to go to lengths to keep them well taken care of and safe. It's almost to the point that she'll nag often for their health and current state, even if she herself struggles to keep her body's condition in check. Some folks that know her well will think she is some odd mother hen with a steely exterior.

Aside from her work and projects she's involved in, Lucine enjoys a healthy helping of hobbies she partake in during her free time. Knitting and crocheting is one of the few activities she came to bring with her from the time of the Suffering Universe, when clothing grew scarce with the dwindling population and she had to rely on her own skills to make clothes. Sometimes she can use her crocheting skills to make a small doll if she has enough wool, but nowadays, wool seems so difficult to acquire in Terrene for her that this is a rare occurrence, since the material could be used in a clothing piece. She also enjoys a hand in cooking, home cooked meals were something Lucine always made due to being so starved in her past and this past time was the only way she can have some food. In her spare time, she'll also read a book that she have brought along from the other Universe, even if it's a little bedtime storybook she had ever since she was a child. If she manages to find any books by chance, it wouldn't take long for the woman to take it for a gleeful read. Lucine used to avidly hunt with a bow and arrow in her youth, but nowadays she dropped the activity to avoid the eyes in the woods. The less she looked noticeable in the public eye, the better. Due the lack of continuous practice, she's quite terrible at the sport from being so rusty. The other hobby that Lucine delved in was playing string instruments such as the lute, but having lost her instrument in her childhood left her without practice for a long time. If anything, if something similar was given to her, she might be able to play a very simple tune.

History
Orphaned at birth, Lucine was at first a nameless child in amidst of chaos and panic. The outside world was filled with thieves, radicals, and the insane. Her biological parents were never found, the only trace of them was a little note hastily written saying "I'm sorry," tagged on a blanket that she was wrapped in. She was left by few trash cans by an abandoned building, and was picked up by a woman who dropped her off at the nearest orphanage for abandoned and orphaned children. She was given the name Lucine, a random name assigned to her to merely identify her among the other children that lived in this run down establishment. She was also given the last name 'Ramos,' due to one of the adults there that had the same last name. The volunteers who ran the orphanage taught them whatever they knew, the necessities, including reading and writing, even with all the chaos and turmoil in the world.

As a child, Lucine was often bullied for her lack of social skills. She was a quiet introvert, who preferred to keep to herself after a long day of socializing, which made few of the kids believe that she was someone to pick on. To being bothered verbally, or beaten down physically, Lucine dealt with plenty of abuse of both ends and grew reclusive. She often shut herself in the rundown library, dark and secluded with the only light source being the sun and the moon. The old, intact books showed her plenty of stories to entertain herself by, which was scavenged by the workers that tried to stock something enjoyable in the orphanage from the numerous wreckage caused by the distortions. Some were damaged beyond saving, but sometimes with these unique pages, Lucine tried to imagine and fill in the blanks for her own enjoyment.

From these books, she grew her interest in various fields. From the stars, how the planets were, to biology and how pokemon survive in the wild and how their bodies function. No matter what the genre was, Lucine always felt the need to look up new topics whenever new books were brought into the library, just so she can hide away from the bullies that made her life in the orphanage depressing. To her, the books and the library became her sanctuary and she often found herself hiding under the wooden tables when the pack of children tried to look out for her, before giving up their hunt in trying to pick on a defenseless child. Most of her meals were also taken place here, sneaking to the kitchen when no one was aware to try getting a meal for the day.

Due to the dwindling supplies, food was scarce. Thin like a skeleton, her ribs poked against her skin that showed her starving body - staved of nutrients that a growing child needed. It damaged her, wrecking checks and balances in her physiology and made her cold to the touch - for she couldn't regulate her body temperature well in order to keep herself alive. Sacrifices had to be made after all, and from the lack of certain vitamins and minerals needed to develop, Lucine grew up a sickly child who often grew sick and bundled herself with wool blankets under some table in the library.

Another hobby to keep herself entertained was playing the lute one of the cooks had saved before their home was taken by the Suffering. Being starved and often seeking for food, Lucine found herself a growing interest in cooking and making her own food. The orphanage cooks were nice enough to teach her what they knew, from how to prepare fish, what goes well in what soup, and so on. In addition to that, she managed to entertain the adults with her attempts in playing music over stories that she have read to share in these grave times.

Most of their teenaged years were dedicated to study, developing on the skills she took interest on and often helped out in the kitchen to prepare new recipes to entice new additions that were saved from the outside. She grew more interested in the sciences and architecture, while taking up on crocheting and knitting to make some clothes for the babies at the nursery. She even managed to make several wool dolls for the easily frightened children, so they can have something to embrace whenever the horrible weather outside intimidated them to retreat under their blankets.

Day by day, the numbers of residents of this establishment dwindled. Some have perished from illness, or old age, and some simply have left to go on their own. Lucine also noticed the slowly diminishing numbers of rescued children that came into the orphanage, and the outside only grew more chaotic. Some children became more skittish, or even violent - and it took a long time for the young teen to get used to such a time. She often took a break from this, walking in the nearby forest that held a few pokemon that still remained living their life - or at least trying to. There, she found an injured Ralts that collapsed on the floor, unresponsive until she brought them back to the library in the orphanage. From the basic medical care that she read herself up on, she managed to patch up this poor pokemon and grew to become close friends.

This Ralts was her only friend in her time remaining in the orphanage, while Lucine was reading books, they simply lingered around in curiosity since they didn't know how to read the pages, but managed to sit by the young Lucine and picked up random books with pictures to appear to do the same activities the girl was interested in. Sometimes Lucine would knit some clothes for this little pokemon, and often perused in the old faded magazines that depicted different fashions. She mostly took interested in the fashion of collecting second-hand clothes and dressing up to appear like a forest doll left abandoned for years. Lucine felt happy to receive scavenged clothes after then, and tried to imitate the models that were depicted to have smiles in front of such beautiful backgrounds.

Lucine enjoyed making new recipes at this age in her time, making the occasional flour-less, egg-less cake when the supplies were plenty in a scavenging session for the children, to making soup out of the few vegetables and various other crops harvested from the garden. The Suffering made growing food difficult, but when they have managed to grow some crops, they tried to make full use of their gains. If she wasn't cooking in the kitchen and showing off new menus to the other cooks, Lucine sat in the library to crochet more dolls for her Ralts to play with. Some of these dolls appeared like miniature pokemon, so even the young children who couldn't go outside and see a real pokemon themselves can hold the stuffed pokemon she made out of the yarn she found.

After a time, Lucine wanted her Ralts to have an actual friend for a change, instead of a normal human that mostly kept to herself and her books. She headed out to the forest to see any potential candidates, until she caught sight of a weary Emolga who had their back against a tree, famished. When she tried to pick up this poor flying squirrel pokemon, all they could do is squirm a bit in protest but didn't have the energy to fly away. Lucine saw this as an opportunity to bring this creature home and feed them a few berries, and also managed to give her pokemon partner someone to relate to.

One unfortunate day did arise though during her teenaged years, where a bunch of fellow orphaned teenagers decided to find her during her outings to scavenge, using a captured bellsprout to use acid - planning to scar her face, but failed when Lucine tried turning away in time. Sadly, the attack still scattered to her back and over her collarbone, burning and searing the weak flesh stretched taut against her skeletal structure that she possessed. She only had the energy to flee to the orphanage, and before long, she collapsed from the shock of the pain that her body was succumb to at the doorstep.

For few days and nights, Lucine endured a fever that could have almost taken her life, the supervisors of the orphanage tried to help her by providing the medical treatment necessary to disinfect the wound she was given by her assailants. A deep seated distrust grew then, due to almost perishing from an infection from the residents of the establishment. From there and on, after she had fully recovered from the illness she had to deal with, Lucine decided to leave the orphanage at the age of 17 after shutting herself in the library just to take up the remaining pieces of knowledge she needed to be set on living by herself out in the cold, chaotic world.

At first, life was rough. She camped in numerous places, hiding from terrifying people who were beyond recovering to sanity. They pillaged and fought each other to the death, and all Lucine could do is witness in silence and coldly move on. The world made her colder, stricter, and stern to everything shown in front of her, judging carefully on what individuals could be before they even tried speaking. She didn't want to be taken advantage of, and often hid her existence until she needed to scour for anything to survive off on.

A few more years have passed then, Lucine managed to travel quite a bit then and grew to know places other than the orphanage that she spent her youth in. When rummaging though an abandoned building, she caught sight of a man. He was strange compared to the wild and deranged, and for that reason alone, she followed him out of curiosity until she was sighted. The man looked to be that the Suffering was taking a toll on him as well, but haven't gone under delirium and rage like the ones she was used to. One thing led to another, and Lucine decided to help this man who simply introduced himself as "Whitney" and the young woman just added the title "Mister" before it.

Time went on, and plans have been developed. The project to rip a portal through dimensions have been opened as planned, just as the man in charge thought it to be. Lucine simply believed in his words, and couldn't argue against him. Even if this plan had failed for them, it wasn't like they had anything to lose. The world was doomed to be destroyed and warped, and there was no hope for the future except to survive - but for how long?

The part after that was a blur. The portal was indeed successful, but they were on the opposite side with no portal to open back to their world. Lucine was lost, confused, and suddenly shock shook her. This was a completely different world than before. Since she didn't think she needed too much to test out the portal with the one in charge, Lucine was left with only the clothes on her back and a bag that held her pokemon and a few items along with a storybook. Still, her memories were intact in comparison to the other immigrants that may have been pushed through, which caused her more internal turmoil due to the crippling depression she still had.

She lived her Terrenian life in secrecy, while sticking close to the one now dubbed 'Omega' by the residents of these lands. Not many knew this woman and her role, except that she might look a bit whimsical and a tad bit stern for a lady. She even trained her pokemon here, mostly from defending herself from the wild pokemon that jumped at her during her travels. She also finds the man calling himself 'Beta' that lives his life on a throne in Crater City a complete buffoon, hence why she tries her best not to be seen by the lackeys they have under their thumb. The other stuff between the relationships between 'Omega' and his group is kept well hidden as well, and only the ones that know her well enough, which is a rare occurrence by gaining the bitter woman's trust, will know how she is with them.

Lucine found herself working most of her waking moments, trying to find a way to build such difficult technology in a world that barely has some. She also found that in her position, there was no such thing as family and having a home. Those were things she have sacrificed for the sake of giving some hope for the people living in these new lands, and to this day, the woman dedicates her life in the work put out by Omega's Research Team.
