Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

[May I encounter a Rowlet from the swarm please?]

“We may actually be in a little bit of trouble, Grape.” Cecilia grumbled, knowing that even if her Pokemon could hear her from where he was up in the branches, he wouldn't comprehend her frustration. Grape was enjoying their little outing, and he liked it even more now that the sun had set. He was a nocturnal type. He was at his best beneath the cloak of darkness.

Cecilia was having much less fun. She'd volunteered to go out into the forest to do some hunting and gathering for the village. She'd been feeling confident since she'd finally acquired a weapon and she'd managed to teach her Pokemon a few basic commands. She'd hoped to catch another Pokemon or at least forage a few herbs and berries, but she'd been out all day with no success at all. Cecilia had tried to head back to the village once the sun began to set, but she'd misjudged how far out she was and hadn't made it back in time. Now it was completely dark, and she'd lost the path. She feared that she was now hopelessly lost.

Grape had better night vision, and he could probably find the path and lead them back to the village. However, Cecilia certainly hadn't trained him to track and she didn't know how to command him to head home. Right now, Grape had no reason to want to head back of his own will, so Cecilia was stuck following her Pokemon hoping they either stumbled back upon the path by accident or Grape grew bored and led them to the village again.

Cecilia listened carefully for the forest around her, hoping to hear footsteps or a familiar voice. Philippa had warned her before she came out that there had been an increased number of sightings when it came to demon pokemon, but Cecilia hadn't worried much about it after she'd been told they mostly come out at night. Cecilia had even hoped that she might find a grass, electric, fire, or fighting type pokemon to capture. She'd figured out that the greatest threats to Grape were water and ice types, so she was hoping to build a more balanced team of pokemon before leaving Forest Beach Village. Funny how she'd started with such optimism, and now she'd be happy just to make it safely back to the village.

Without even so much as a single beam of moonlight to guide Cecilia's path, she'd find herself stumbling in the dark, unless she could learn to navigate without the important sense of sight. It would all depend on her, on whether she would cling to the crutch of sight that mercilessly abandoned those to the frightening dark. There were many dangers in the dark after all, that would not hesitate to prey on those stumbling about like a wayward newborn.

If Cecilia took the time to listen, she would be able to hear faint cries from a direction somewhere to her left. Though, even if she didn't hear the cries, she would most certainly hear the periodic and sharp thumping noise, from something crashing into a hard surface. It was up to her if the woman would take the time and try to deviate from her path, to investigate the odd noises or whether she'd stray away.

It was lucky that Cecilia had been listening to the forest so closely. She heard the thumping sound and froze to listen closer. She heard the noise again along with some softer cries that made her think of a wounded animal. What if it was an injured person? Even if it was actually an injured pokemon, Cecilia couldn't bring herself to ignore it. She'd intended to do some hunting, after all. Maybe whatever it was would make the whole trip worth it.

Cecilia didn't get much time to ponder her choices before she heard the light scratching in the branches above that meant that Grape was on the move. He'd heard the noise as well, and his predatory instincts were quick to home in on potentially trapped or injured prey. Cecilia cussed quietly, knowing Grape would be nearly invisible and silent as he flew through the night. If she lost track of him, she'd be in much greater trouble than she was now. She hurried towards the thumping noise, tripping over thorny shrubs and fallen branches. She didn't want to shout out for him and alert every aggressive pokemon in the area to her presence (though her bumbling wasn't exactly quiet). Instead, she hoped to meet up with him once they both reached their intended location.

As Ceclia and Grape would pursue the mysterious noises in the dark, the thumping would stop abruptly. It would still be difficult for Cecilia to see in the dark, however perhaps she would be able to make out the motions in the dark and use her hearing to paint a picture of the situation at hand. As Cecilia would trip and stumble towards the source of the noises, if she could see, she would be able to see an orange otter, with a split tail and blue fins on his arms, and something resembling an inflatable tube around his neck. The pokemon was glaring up into a tree, where a small owl with light brown and white feathers and a bowtie of leaves huddled. By process of elimination, it would be easy to deduce the Buizel as having made the noises, likely to get at Rowlet in the tree.

Rowlet let out a weak cry, somewhat injured, her wing being damaged enough to prevent flight for a bird pokemon as inexperienced as she. "(L-Leave me alone!)" She weakly let out a pathetic growl, resounding through the area. The Buizel winced at the weak display.

Though, given Ceclia's lack of stealth, perhaps it would not come as to a surprise when the otter turned his attentions on the human. Given that Rowlet would not appear to be going anywhere, the water-type felt confident in turning his attention on what he perceived to be a threat to his late night dinner. Whipping around, his split tail flashing white, a streak of white would be sent Cecila's way.

While Cecilia worried about losing her pokemon, Grape had no such worry about her. Even if he couldn't easily see or hear her with his superior hearing and night vision, he had a natural instinct that told him whereabouts she was at all times. It didn't apply to other humans, only to this one that he'd chosen to follow. It only made sense to him that she'd follow him as best she could. He'd trained her carefully, after all.

And it wasn't her fault that she was so clumsy and noisy. Grape worried she would frighten off any prey in the area, but she couldn't be blamed for her big human feet and awkward limbs. And so it was completely unfair, utterly uncalled for, when an ugly water weasel sent a white wall of air at her with enough force to knock her powerfully into a tree. Grape landed on the upper trunk of a nearby tree and watched the scene. The pitiful owl pokemon whimpered in the tree, cornered and hurt. Below, the culprit water rat had turned his attention over to the now injured human.

Grape bared his fangs in anticipation and prepared his strike. He leapt into the air and extended his wings, intending to glide down and deliver a night slash with his front claws directly to the buizel’s back. He moved silently through the air, barely even stirring up wind as he passed. His colors blended in with the night, but Cecilia could see the glimmer of his eyes as he approached. If his attack succeeded, he would pull up immediately and make for the safety of the upper branches to hide and possibly plan a second attack.

~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, back on the ground, Cecilia was in pain. That pokemon (she didn't know what it was called) had just hit her with a powerful strike. She hadn't gotten much of a look at it, but she could clearly see the glow of its eyes in the night. The smooth sac around its neck reflected some light as well. Cecilia could see the rowlet’s eyes too, but only that. She concluded from the sounds it made that it was some sort of injured bird. She would have left it to its fate if the pokemon on the ground hadn't attacked her. Now she was in the fight if she wanted to be or not.
The sonic boom attack slammed her backwards and her back and head hit a tree that was behind her. For a moment, she saw stars. Then she saw red. Her ears rang, but besides that,
she couldn't hear any other sounds. Oh no you didn't! She thought, gritting her teeth and forcing her body to move through the pain. She felt the trunk of the tree behind her and eased around it so that its truck was between her and her attacker. Once she had cover, she crouched and pulled an arrow from her quiver. She only had six, and she hated to waste one by losing it in the dark. However, if there was ever a time to use her weapon, now would be it. She wished she had practiced more. She barely knew what she was doing.
Cecilia peeked around the tree and took aim, looking for the glow of the buizel's eyes in the dark. Her hands shook with the effort of trying to hold the bow and it was hard to get a good shot. Just then she saw Grape swoop down from the high branches. Whether his attack hit or not, Cecilia thought he was bound to get the aggressive pokemon's attention. This was her opening! She loosed her arrow and fired before dipping quickly behind the trunk of the tree again.
Cecilia couldn't help thinking back to when she and Grape had been training on the beach. Hadn't she promised him then that she would fight beside him in his next battle? He was still so young, and she didn't want him to be badly hurt. She pulled a second arrow from her quiver and fitted it against her bowstring, preparing her next strike. She still couldn't hear anything. It was like the world was on mute. Hopefully her hearing wasn't permanently damaged.
((I set Cecilia's chance to hit Buizel at 45%, due to Cecilia's inexperience with the bow and given the fact that it's very dark. Though, there is Grape's interference and Cecilia's assumed proximity to Buizel that keeps the % from being too low. The RNG says 74 sadly, so Ceclia misses. Maybe her next shot will be better?))
Rowlet hooted softly, nervous at the close proximity of Grape, a flying hunter that might eventually pose a threat to her as well. She stiffened, hugging herself tight when the Gligar landed in her tree that served as her shelter. Though, she doubted this situation would end out well for her any which way. If Grape one this scuffle, he could decide to kill and eat her. If Buizel won, he could simply outlast Rowlet, since she couldn't stay in this tree forever. Perhaps she could seek shelter with the human that had recently come onto the scene, since she appeared to be at odds with the Buizel, despite the almost absolute certainty Cecilia and Grape were a pair. However, Rowlet would wait to see if there was an opportunity for her to reach and hide behind the human safely.
Buizel settled after his strike had struck the human, causing her to fall to the ground, hitting a tree as well. His tail waved passively behind him, he would've thought the human would've recognized his strength and fled. However, Cecilia's determination appeared to be stronger than the water-type had initially anticipated. He dropped onto all fours, prepared to attack again. He was too busy focusing on Cecilia and failed to notice Grape descending from Rowlet's tree, and striking along the width of his back with darkness imbued claws. He let out a shriek of pain from the attack, his cry softened into whimpering growling. When he looked back, Cecilia appeared to be in hiding. Good. He decided now was the most opportune time to get rid of the biggest threat to his meal: That Gligar. He couldn't see exactly where Grape had fled to, but unleashed another sonic boom, released from the lashing of his tail, towards where he was fairly sure his enemy was hiding.
Cecilia peeked around the tree she was hiding behind just in time to see the buizel use his tail to send a white wave of energy up into the tree branches. She prayed for buizel to miss and gazed up into the branches for any sign of Grape. With her hearing impaired, she couldn't hear buizel's growl or her own pokemon's cry of pain from the treetops. The extent of the damage became apparent, however, when Cecilia saw her poor pokemon tumble from the tree, crashing into branches on the way down. He landed on a lower branch and appeared to be trying to recover.
No! Cecilia thought as a cold fear crept through her. This buizel was too powerful for them. Another hit could probably kill Grape. They needed a better plan, and they needed one now! Maybe she could recall Grape back into his pokeball and just run for it. Cecilia looked up to the lighter figure trapped up in the tree. Logic told her that there was no sense risking herself and her pokemon for a little injured bird. Still, it seemed so tiny and pathetic. It was probably young like Grape.
Cecilia made a quick decision and prayed it would succeed. First, she let her arrow fly while Buizel's focus was on Grape. She once again used the light reflecting from the pokemon's eyes and yellow collar to aim. Hopefully it would hit the target, but even if it didn't maybe it would get Buizel's attention away from the injured pokemon. Next she needed to instruct her companion.
"Grape!" She called, never minding that she was out in the open. She needed Grape to see her. He needed to learn a new command in a hurry. "Grape, grab the bird and run!" As she spoke, she opened her arms wide and brought them together as if she were embracing an invisible person in a hug. Then, she waved her arms off to the side to signal that she wanted Grape and the bird to go away. Maybe if they stayed in the trees they could stay out of buizel's range.
Next she needed to keep buizel away from the pokemon so they could get away. She got up and ran at the pokemon, bow drawn and yelling loudly. "Go away! Get away from them or I'll kill you and make you into a hat!" She didn't think she could win a fight against buizel alone but maybe she could scare it away. "You'd better run before the other hunters get here and make you a meal." If she managed to get close enough without being hit, maybe she could manage another attack.
------
Grape's ears were ringing. The sheer force of the sonic boom had knocked him for a loop and before he knew it, he was falling. He bounced painfully against one branch and then another before finally landing on a branch with one of his claws on either side. He wrapped his tail around it to remain stable. He shook his head and got back up on his feet, gazing around and below to look for his human on the ground.
He saw Cecilia bravely firing her weapon at Buizel before looking up at him. Her mouth was moving, she was speaking, but he couldn't hear a thing. He watched her movements as she pointed at the rowlet, made a motion like giving a embrace, and then waved off at the woods to one side. Grab Rowlet? Why? It couldn't even fly, and it wasn't helping in the fight. When understanding dawned on him, he almost groaned. She was trying to save that stupid bird! That was a terrible idea!
Grape glared up at the injured bird pokemon. He thought he had a better idea. Sure his human thought she was the brains of this operation, but Grape had his own ideas of what should be done. He bounced up to the bird using his tail. "I got no time to argue or repeat myself so you'd best give me no trouble, understand? I'm going to help you get out of this tree, but you have to help my human. My girl is down there trying to save your tail so the least you can do is give her some support. I'll handle the flying. You just attack. You do know some attacks don't you? And if you don't cooperate, my girl and I will leave you here to die." The bird was much smaller than Grape, and he would have no trouble carrying it with his back feet if it agreed to cooperate. He needed his front claws free for flying and his tail for attacking.
If Rowlet agreed, he would swoop down at the buizel with his new charge held firmly with his back legs. He'd drag his long barbed tail along the dirt on the ground to kick up sand and hopefully blind buizel. Maybe the sand attack would give them the cover they needed to avoid any more strikes. Hopefully Rowlet would attack as well. Together, maybe they would all be able to push their attacker back.
If Rowlet refused, Grape would still attempt his sand attack. Instead, he would fly solo and end it by swooping at Cecilia to try and convince the stupid human that they needed to escape together and the dumb bird wasn't worth the trouble.
((I kept Cecilia's chance to hit Buizel at 45%, since the circumstances are more or less the same as the last time she tried to shoot Buizel. RNG says.... 53. Wow. The RNG seems to hate Cecilia's bow. Sorry.))
When Cecilia let her arrow fly, it unfortunately did not meet it's mark once again. Though, it came close. It nearly grazed Buizel's tail, landing in a spot dangerously close to him, startling him. In that moment of shock, he forgot about Grape and Rowlet.... Again.... In favor of focusing on Cecilia. He shrieked out his rage, "(I'm not some dumb pokemon whose going to end up as your dinner!)" He more or less assumed he was being hunted by a human who barely knew how to hold her bow, much less hit anything. He was bracing himself to jump and attack....
Meanwhile in the treetops, as Grape set his terms with Rowlet, with no room for negotiation, the young bird pokemon didn't have a choice. "(If it'll get me out of here, yes I'll help.)" She chirped. She didn't really hate humans, so much as indifferent. She was unopposed to these terms. Besides, she would die here if she didn't help since she couldn't fly. She allowed Grape to hold her in his talons. As Grape dived towards Buizel, Rowlet let loose a flurry of shining leaves, shredding into Buizel, who let out a cry of shock.
"(A-Ack...! Y-You!)" The Buizel hissed out. Just in time for Grape to shovel sand into his face. He screamed, spinning around wildly. He couldn't seem to decide who he wanted to attack first.... Giving an opening to attack again.
Grape was feeling pretty good about their first successful pass. He hadn't actually been able to hear Rowlet's assent, but the pokemon had come through and managed to land an attack. He was honestly impressed. It was such a little bird and injured too, and it took some guts to stand up and fight against a foe that was as strong as Buizel. "Great job!" He praised her as they flew along. He didn't land like he had done after his first attack. He'd decided that the best way to stay alive was actually to keep moving. Grape slid easily along the currents of night air, maintaining his momentum for another pass. "Here we go again. Be ready. I've got you."
On the ground, Cecilia didn't have time to even worry that Grape hadn't obeyed her like she'd wanted. Part of it was a relief. She didn't really want to be left alone to face Buizel. She'd figured that the bird pokemon had been too injured to fight, but now that it had entered the fray maybe the three of them stood a chance. "Good work you two!" She yelled to the pokemon with what little breath she had. Her heart was racing and her breaths were quick and ragged. By now she'd made it right up to Buizel. She could see it more clearly now. It was a pity it was such a bully. It was actually a really cute pokemon.
And there was the tail that it kept using to attack them with. It was split, and the pokemon used it like a propeller when it sent waves of energy at them. It was really a clever trick. Cecilia tried to stomp on the tails with all her might. Then she drew her third arrow back and tried to fire it directly at the beast in front of her, preferably with one foot on Buizel's tails to pin it in place.
By this time she could see the glint of Grape's eyes as he brought Rowlet around for another attack. Immediately, she backed away from Buizel to give the two pokemon space to attack without hitting her.
Grape folded his wings slightly for a dive, lifting his back talons higher and arching his tail forward. He meant to hit Buizel tail first and bounce off of him back into the air. Grape unconsciously drew his lips back to reveal his fangs. He still hurt all over from the attack he'd taken earlier, but he refused to focus on that. The truth was, he was afraid of Buizel but the fear also made him angry. He hated being frightened.
((Okay since it's point blank range and it'd be really really dumb if she missed AGAIN... I'm saying 50% chance to run Buizel through with an arrow, and 50% chance to graze him. It'd be really hard to miss him at this point, really. The RNG claims 70. Okay, so it grazes Buizel.))
Rowlet couldn't help but feel a feeling of warmth at the praise from the slightly older pokemon. Despite the situation, she was still rather young and receptive to praise. "(A-Alright...)" She said. She was able to fire off another flurry of leaves, shredding into Buizel, beginning to wear down the water-type, who was still screaming out in rage, and in full honesty... Really hurting Rowlet's ears. After firing her attack, she did her best to retreat into a smaller shape, huddling within her feathers. "(T-Too l-loud...)" She hooted softly.
Meanwhile, Buizel, before he could attack or retaliate he was struck by another leafage. Then he promptly stabbed by Gligar's barbed tail. Then his tail was stomped on! Ow! That really hurt! Whipping around, he suddenly was treated to the extremely painful sensation of an arrow ripping open a cut in his face and down his thigh. Screeching louder than ever, he lunged for Cecilia, as she was easier to reach, flashing white and moving faster than surely Cecilia would be able to dodge from.
"What? I can't hear a thing! I don't know what you're saying!" Grape chattered back at his feathered companion. His hearing still wasn't the same since he was struck by Sonic Boom a while back. He looked down at buizel to gauge how much strength it had left and was a bit disappointed to find the nasty water weasel still alive. Grape was tired and feeling his injuries more and more. Still, they had to keep fighting, and he had to acknowledge that the only way to win was with the help of this little owl pokemon. Funny how he thought of her as nothing more than prey when he'd first seen her.
Even in the darkness, Cecilia was able to see the thick blood come oozing from the great cut she'd left on the buizel's cheek and thigh. A direct hit may have ended the fight, but she was still too clumsy with her bow. Even so, Cecilia thought for a moment that the pokemon was dead. It was in this moment of hesitation that Buizel struck her. She never saw the pokemon move. She didn't even feel the pain of the attack until seconds after it happened. Buizel was so quick that all she felt was heat running up her right leg nearly to her hip as its claws sliced through her clothes and flesh.
Cecilia stumbled backwards and fell. She scrambled, using her hands and left leg to spider-walk into some brush. She could feel herself bleeding, but she couldn't take the time to assess the wound further. "Grape! Attack now! It's here in front of me!" Cece called to her pokemon. He was as deaf as she was at this point, so he didn't hear her. Luckily, he was preparing an attack anyway. She also fumbled with her bow, knowing there was nothing she could do for her injury until the buizel's threat was dealt with. She'd never tried to shoot from a sitting position before, but she got her arrow notched and tried to line up her shot. She forced herself to take slow deep breaths.
Grape dove back down for another pass at buizel. "Here we go! Give it everything you've got! We can beat this guy!" He encouraged Rowlet and tried not to let on how worried he was. With his superior night vision, he could clearly see the struggle below between Cecilia and Buizel. He really didn't want his human to die, but she didn't seem to be doing well. This time he attacked with his claws, attempting to land a powerful Night Slash on buizel's back.
As Grape pulled up after his attack, Cecilia let her arrow fly. Even if she missed every time, she wouldn't stop trying. She was determined to fight her her life and for the life of her pokemon until there was no strength left in her.
((Since Buizel is standing right in front of Cecelia, and I'm going to keep it at 50% to hit and 50% to graze again. The RNG says... 31! Finally, Cecelia hits the Buizel. That took a while... Anyways... For damage, it will deal 20%-40%. The RNG gods say.... 35%. Jeez... Well, this water weasel is dead as heck.))
Rowlet, however, was not deaf. She'd never borne the brunt of Buizel's sonic boom and her hearing was still fine. So, she remained quiet, and only softly hooted to herself in an attempt to calm her shaky nerves. This whole ordeal had been a bit stressful, and she was still a bit nervous, as the Buizel was still alive and spitting venom in their general direction. Still, she did her best to send one last flurry of leaves at the Buizel, to accompany Grape's claws, tearing through Buizel's back.
The last desperate attack from Grape and Rowlet combined, seemed to have done the job, as he crumpled to the ground, still cursing out Grape, Cecilia, and Rowlet. Though, it was unintelligible as his voice weakened. Cecilia's last fire of her arrow finally struck true, though it was a bit redundant. Regardless of who had truly nailed the water-type's coffin, Grape or Cecelia, the Buizel was now well and truly dead. His body was limp and his mouth snarled no longer.
Rowlet let out a breath she'd been holding. The danger had passed. Though... She had to hold onto her hopes that her contribution to the fight would convince Grape to spare her life.
Cecilia fired her arrow and it seemed as if she finally hit her mark. There was no further rustling in the brush that would indicate that the buizel was coming towards her or firing a counterattack. Cecilia used a nearby tree to pull herself to her feet, allowing herself to feel the pain in her right leg. She was still able to walk, but not very quickly and she limped. Hopefully someone would be able to look at it once she reached the village.
The village! Even if they had defeated Buizel, she was still lost in this forest. She pushed this thought aside and reminded herself to focus on one problem at at time. For now, she needed to see how badly Grape was hurt. She also needed to see if she could collect the arrows that she'd fired off and make sure that Buizel was dead.
Cecilia stumbled over to the place where she'd seen the water pokemon and fall and inspected the body as well as she could in the darkness. He seemed so much smaller now that he wasn't menacing her and her pokemon. She felt a twinge of sadness as she collected the lifeless body, wrapping it in a spare cloth and packing it in her bag. The pelt was ruined from multiple cuts but maybe the meat would be good for something.
Grape glided silently down from the trees and gently dropped the little rowlet in a soft patch of grass. He landed beside her, and Cecilia limped over to get a better look at him. "You poor guys, you both took a bit of a beating by the looks of things. But you did such a good job!" Cecilia praised them both and carefully crouched down to get a better look at them both. She reached out and rubbed Grape's ears. Grape stuck his tongue out, trying not to look like he enjoyed her affection. Still, he couldn't help being pleased with himself and being pleased that his human was giving him the credit he believed he had earned. Stupid human, she'd be dead if he wasn't looking after her. And yet, her willingness to try and let him and Rowlet escape even if it meant putting her own life at risk was very respectable. It was certainly not something he ever expected any human to do.
"And you," Cecilia stopped petting Grape and got lower to take a better look at Rowlet. "You're a pretty little bird pokemon, and strong too by the looks of things. Why was Grape carrying you? Can't you fly?" She looked between the two flying types as if they would speak up an tell her the answer. "Buizel hurt your wing didn't he? I'm afraid there's not a whole lot I can do for it. I only have one potion and Grape and I still need to get home. If you were to come with us though, we could give you some rest and food. Maybe someone in the village will know better how to handle a broken bird wing."
Grape's ears were still ringing from the Sonic Boom, but his hearing was starting to return at last. Even without fully understanding what Cecilia was saying, Grape felt that he knew enough of her body language and nature to figure out what she meant and translate it all for Rowlet. "She says you did good, kid. I think she wants to keep you around. She's probably trying to get you to come with us back home so she can feed you. She likes to do things like that, it seems. It might be a good idea to play along with her. As you've seen, she's almost dead weight in a fight, but she's kind. She shares her food with me and plays with me. We have a lot of fun. Besides, you'd have me to look after you too, if you came along. It would be nice to have someone to fly with me."
He paused before continuing, watching Rowlet's reaction. "Besides, you're basically bait with that busted wing. I can glide you back up to your nest if you want, but if I really hope you decide to stick with us." Then he looked away and tried to pretend that he wasn't emotionally invested in Rowlet's decision at all. It was hard not to become attached to a pokemon that had helped you defeat your greatest foe. In what was perhaps Grape's greatest offer of friendship, he did not immediately pounce on the berry that Cecilia then produced and offered to the rowlet. He ignored it, trusting that Cecilia would give him food later on and dearly hoping that the token would be enough to persuade Rowlet to come along.
Cecilia held the razz berry in her open hand and extended it out to the injured little bird. "Come on, cutie. Do you want to be our friend? We'll take you home and get you all fixed up."
Rowlet was gently let down into a patch of grass by Grape, she gently turned around and looked over at Grape, before looking to Cecilia. The female human was making some sort of noise from her mouth, however she couldn't understand it. Rowlet wasn't that familiar with humans, and she couldn't figure out what Cecilia could be trying to say. Though, she assumed it couldn't be too bad, as her voice had an upward intonation. Grape seemed to be almost insulting the human however, and it did not help Rowlet's confusion. She hooted softly and uncertainly in questioning.
Rowlet suddenly was the center of attention by Cecelia. She hooted again in questioning. "(Huh?)" She asked softly. Then she turned to face Grape, who seemed to have a better grasp on the odd way that humans communicated. "(Oh.)" Rowlet wasn't entirely sure what to say. According to Grape's words, if they were to be believed, both the human and the Gligar would like Rowlet to stay with them, to join them. It seemed that her participation had... Endeared her to the other flying-type and she was no longer on the menu. That was nice. As well, Grape claimed the human was nice. Rowlet wasn't sure if it was a human thing or specific to this female. Still...
Then Rowlet seemed to perk up a bit at the berry offered. When Grape didn't pounce onto it, she hesitantly hoped forward, best she could. She cautiously pecked at it, before eating it probably and nibbling it. Hm.... Grape seemed to be right and this human did seem pretty nice. At least she wouldn't have to worry about food, and perhaps she wouldn't have to be alone. That was a nice thought. She turned to Grape. "(Okay. I think... I'll stay with you.)" She hooted her answer. She didn't know how to communicate her answer to the human, so she could only speak to Grape. Hopefully he could convey the message to Cecelia.
Cecilia smiled as the little bird hopped forward and ate the berry from her hand. Her heart felt filled with warmth for a moment, realizing that she'd made a real connection with this pokemon. Grape clearly liked Rowlet too. She'd never seen him hesitate before jumping on food. He'd never seemed particularly inclined to share anything. Perhaps it had to do with him being an only child, or rather, an only pokemon. Having someone to share both food and attention with would probably be good for him.
"Okay, honey, if you're going to come with me, I'm going to have to carry you. You shouldn't be flying anywhere like that. Once we get to town, we can take a better look at that wing." Cecilia said, carefully reaching out and lifting the little owl. She carefully set Rowlet on her shoulder and beckoned Grape nearer with one hand. Grape came close, feeling pleased that they had a new friend joining them, and Cecilia rubbed he bat-scorpion creature between his ears.
"Grape, we're all very hurt. We need to get home, and you're the only one who knows the way. Do you understand? We need to go home, where we can rest and eat. Home." Cecilia instructed him, hoping he would understand what she needed from him. She took a few moments to investigate the area and search for the arrows that she'd used. Luckily they hadn't moved around too much during the battle, so most likely all of her missing arrows were near Rowlet's tree.
Once she'd done the best she could as far as finding her missing ammunition in the dark while injured, she used her hand to signal to Grape that he should lead them onwards. Grape understood the word "home" as it was where they went at the end of every adventure and training session. Home was the place with the soft blankets, the old woman and her bossy psychic cat, and often it was the place where they all ate dinner together. He hadn't been in any mood to go home before when he was relishing his freedom and the darkness of night, but after a battle like they'd just survived, home sounded wonderful.
Grape glided from tree to tree, leading Cecilia along in the direction he knew led back to the main path towards the village. He stayed low and chittered to help his trainer along, as she moved slowly and couldn't always see him in the night. Rowlet also helped, pointing with her good wing and hooting softly in Cecilia's ear when the trainer had lost sight of Grape. Cecilia tried not to show how much pain she was in or how weak she felt. She felt like she could fall over any minute, and it took all of her will to make each slow and agonizing step. She tried to remind herself that if she was tired and hurting then certainly her pokemon were too. She needed to get them to safety as well.
At last, they found the path and Cecilia could feel the packed dirt beneath her feet and see the clearing through the trees that led to the sparse torchlight of the village below. She heaved a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness, I think we can make it from here. Good work you two." Cecilia reached up and gently lifted the rowlet from her shoulder so that she could hold the pokemon in front of her. It was so light, as if she were holding a pile of leaves or feathers and nothing more. The owl tilted her head and gave out a questioning little "hoot". "I've been trying to think of a name for you. I haven't checked the pokedex to find out exactly what you are, but I'm pretty sure you're a grass type by the way you threw those leaves down at the weasel pokemon. So how about Sweet Pea? It seems fitting. I'll call you Sweet Pea."
Sweet Pea gave an affirmative "hoot", and Cecilia set her back on her shoulder. "All right then, Sweet Pea, Grape, it's time for us to head home at last." Cecilia carefully limped her way down the path towards the village.
"I first met my girl right here, on this path," Grape told Sweet Pea, now bouncing along on his tail behind them. The owl turned her head all the way around on her neck to look at him as he spoke. "You'll like living with us. I'll protect you, and I'll teach you to be really strong like me!"
Sweet Pea still felt a little nervous about all of this. She'd never been to the human village, but Cecilia and Grape were treating her so nicely that it made her feel like she'd be safe. It would be nice not to be alone anymore and to have friends. She settled herself as comfortably as she could on Cecilia's shoulder with her injured wing and rode along, allowing the sensation of cautious hope to blossom inside her heart.
