Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

KENDON OSCURO
21 - male - heterosexual
Appearance
Kendon stands at about 5'11" and weighs around 155 lbs, depending on his most recent dietary habits. His short, dark brown hair is often styled so that the bangs are raised up in a triangular shape. When no pomade or gel is available, he'll just sweep his bangs over to the left and back of his head, and when it is especially messy he'll hide it beneath a hat (dad hats being his main choice of headwear). His eyes match his hair in color, appearing to be black in unlit areas. Kendon's build is only about average, as the most exercise he ever gets are his walks to the train station or around town. While not overtly noticeable when dressed, his stomach protrudes marginally above his waist. He has relatively light skin, which tans under light sunshine but burns easily in extreme weather. On his left arm, just below his wrist, is a circular Alolan tattoo depicting a gust of wind (he and his three siblings have one each, based on the cardinal elements). His outfits are typically comprised of a simple T-shirt, a plaid flannel over it, and jeans. Occasionally, he'll swap the flannel for jacket or a long-sleeved sweater, although he almost always rolls the sleeves of all his tops to his elbows. His sneakers are a simple dark grey with white laces and are scuffed from consistent use.

The young man's posture is rather bad; while not terribly hunched over, his back tends to be slouched a majority of the time. Every now and again he'll notice and straighten himself, before slumping back down in a matter of minutes. This produces considerable discomfort in his spine, and one can often find him attempting to crack said spine as well as numerous other joints in his body. His facial expression is usually distant -- though, not so much thoughtful and intriguing as it is distracted and disconnected. Kendon rarely smiles unless in the presence of others, and when he does it is almost always with a closed mouth. He hates how his teeth look; despite being relatively straight, some are chipped and have rough edges, and one in the front of the bottom row is still a baby tooth which for some reason was never replaced with a larger tooth. His arms are reasonably free of hair even though much of the rest of his body is not; his legs are covered all around, as are his armpits and a bit of the area around his navel. Even his face is prone to grow some patches when left alone for a few weeks without shaving. That being said, those unmaintained areas are almost always hidden beneath his clothes.
Personality
Kendon has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD), and as a result often suffers from low energy and a severe lack of motivation. Frequently, he struggles with the simple task of leaving his bed, much less anything else he needs or wants to do that day. He also finds himself bored by most activities, even the hobbies he enjoyed most previously -- such as reading and writing. Whereas at one point in his life he lived vicariously through both of these pastimes, he currently has trouble getting through a single page of either. This only serves to contribute to his sunken moods, as his lack of passion has him worrying about his place or purpose in the world. He constantly feels like a prisoner -- or, even worse, a stranger -- within his own body. There are times where he'll scream within the mental confines of his mind, imploring himself to complete this task or that, only for his body to stalwartly ignore him. More often than not, he'll end up giving up altogether and drifting back into excessive slumber. Still, he does his best to hide his condition from those close to him, and spending time with them helps to dispel negative thoughts -- at the very least, distract him from them. Not many are aware of this inward turmoil, yet when the few that are express their concern Kendon does not hesitate to lie blatantly to them. He believes it's best not to burden others with his own problems; and besides, he should be able to overcome his issues on his own.

In addition to being depressed, Kendon is also somewhat socially anxious. His interactions with strangers are usually awkward; full of brief statements, downward glances, and uncontrollable fidgeting. This condition is solved through one of two methods: frequent conversation over a considerable period of time, or the consumption of an alcoholic beverage or two. However, even with those he is familiar with Kendon takes a more passive role, never really taking the lead. He also tends to shy away from confrontation or conflict of any kind, and will most likely ignore any altercation he may pass by (or watch from a safe distance away). If forcibly presented with or pushed into such a conflict, Kendon will choose the most pacified course of action, one that would result in the least amount of issues from arising. Additionally, he has an incredible amount of patience and understanding, and in the few arguments he has attempts to stay as calm as possible. His conversation apprehension, however, only applies to humans, and he is not nearly as inept at dealing with pokémon. He is much friendlier with these creatures, not having to worry about failing societal expectations or facing social repercussions. He'll often speak to those which allow him near, making up discourse based on how they react to his words. These "exchanges" vary from small talk about the weather to in-depth discussions about the nature of the universe.

Pokémon aren't the only ones Kendon produces mock dialogue with; when he's alone (which is most of the time), he'll speak to Trixie, an imaginary fairy of sorts. Originally a side character in one of his stories, Trixie surprisingly grew into his most favorite character, and one he would write most often about. There was something about her brash nature that he admired, a brusqueness which spoke to a confidence he would never have himself. In many ways he was envious of her; as unpleasant as she may be at times, her character inspired him to improve his own. It is in this way Trixie became the most significant tool in combating his depression. Whenever he finds it difficult to motivate himself, Kendon imagines the pixie berating him, and responds according to her commands. He finds it easier to gain agency when not relying on himself, and with this method the young adult is able to regain some control in his life. Make no mistake, he holds no delusions about the Trixie's existence; nevertheless, that does not stop him from calling upon her regularly, to the point where he now wears headphones in public so as to speak to her in public, under the pretense of being on the phone.
History
Born the second of four children, Kendon Oscuro found himself very different from the rest of his siblings. For starters, he was the only male among them, which in itself led to him having a rather distinct experience from his sisters. That, however, said nothing of his relationship with them, as he felt closer to them than he did with any other in his life, but he never adjusted quite as well as they did. See, his father's work often had him travelling to different regions, and rather than be left behind his family chose to travel with him. This meant having to relocate every few years, which in turn meant having to constantly leave behind old friends and make new ones. For his sisters, this was of little consequence, as their naturally upbeat and friendly personalities led them to get along with just about anyone. For Kendon, on the other hand, this mixed poorly with his unfortunately shy and quiet demeanor. He eventually gave up on making friends altogether, and with such limited use his social skills began to suffer. Perhaps this was the reason for his attachment to his sisters, being one of the only constants in his life, or perhaps it was their parents' eventual divorce which led to the strengthening of their bond, but he knew that he could rely on his three siblings for anything.

Well, almost anything. There are a few things an adolescent boy will refuse to go to his family about, no matter how close they may be. Whether that thing would be too awkward or too shameful to mention, Kendon would sometimes resort to an alternative source of comfort: writing. Stories were no stranger to the young boy, as he would often dive into the world of fantasy novels in order to escape the more unforgiving and less spectacular aspects of reality. There came a point, however, when the whims and conceptions of alien authors no longer satisfied the machinations of his own imagination. He took up writing his own stories instead, to work through the problems he couldn't go to his sisters about. It was then he thought up of Trixie, a fairy whose purpose was to serve as a foil to his main character -- a character who was, admittedly, a bit too much like himself. If his main character was everything he was, then Trixie was everything he aspired to be: confident and in control. He wrote with her so frequently and so passionately that he began to understand her on every conceivable level, as one might understand a partner they spent every waking moment with. His connection with this fictional character became so complete that he no longer required a pen and paper to hear her voice, but would only need to speak and he would know how the fairy would respond.

Trixie was not his only companion, of course. Once his father retired and his family settled in Hoenn, Kendon found it much easier to create and maintain numerous friendships. It turns out that there were others as socially stunted as he was, many of whom were also as engrossed with fantasy as he was. The presence of these like-minded individuals allowed for Kendon to excel academically, and with their support and assistance he was able to achieve high grades in most of his classes in school. Post-graduation life, unfortunately, was not as easy for him. Kendon had no plans outside of schooling, and once that part of his life was over a substantial chasm was left behind. What was he to do now? He had no real ambitions -- although he enjoyed writing, he had never considered it more than a hobby, and never imagined he might pursue a career with it. Pokémon training, as popular as it was with his peers, was also out of the question. While his family did have a pet granbull, his parents disapproved of pokémon battling and refused their children pokémon of their own, lest they were to abuse that privilege. While battling didn't appeal to Kendon either, he had once fancied going into Pokémon Research or Pokémon Breeding (but suffice to say, he lacked the general experience and, quite frankly, wouldn't know how to begin with either of them).

This would be the beginning of what can only be described as a misfortunate storm in Kendon's life. Whereas his peers were making progress into their adulthood -- beating Gyms, getting jobs, some even settling down and starting families -- Kendon was stuck at home, doing nothing. To make matters worse, it wasn't just his friends who were leaving him behind: his sisters, too, were moving on. One sister was married and moved across the region to be with her husband. Another was studying water-type pokémon under a prestigious professor and had relocated to their lab in Slateport. The last was still in school, but had already made plans to take up an internship with the Devon Corporation. They all had futures. Kendon had none. Faced with this undeniable truth, the boy fell into a crippling state of despair. He continued to live, but only barely so. He slept most hours of the day, only rising from his bed to eat a small meal or use the bathroom. Every now and then would gain a burst of energy, determined to turn his life around. On those rare days he would complete a basic task, such as taking a shower or writing in his notebook, and feel invigorated about the prospect of change… only to return to his zombie-like state the next day. This would result in him staring at the ceiling, blankly, wondering the point of his being. And then he'd wish that he could die, that his world could end.

And then it did.

Kendon was in his room, as always, when the disasters first struck his town. He had long desired for some external force to end his existence, to gift him a well-warranted death. What he had never wanted was the same for those around him -- his suffering was his, and his alone. There was no need to drag down others with him. Yet, it seemed as if fate was dealing out Kendon's punishment to all, indiscriminate of whether they were deserving of it or not. He should have known that a peaceful death was too much to ask for. It would be too good for him to disappear alone, too easy. This was a much more fitting sentence for his worthless self. And, knowing this, Kendon made no effort to evacuate or protect himself. His family would worry -- was worrying; he could see the flashing and vibrating of his phone from where he was lying. Still, they would move on. They had their own lives to get on with.
