Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

@Kaien ((Don't mind the title.... It's a really cool phrase okay))

Ri was not aware that being glared at all the time could be this fucking exhausting. Even she wasn't this fucking cranky! Did these people have grumpiness written into their souls?! She was pretty sure she got the gist now, confirming the few rumors she'd heard in passing, considering she didn't talk to many. Oasis fucking hating immigrants with a burning passion that couldn't quite be captured in hearsay and rumor. That, and Ri apparently screamed immigrant with her very presence. What was it? Her valuable bracelets that probably weren't made in Terrene, because who the fuck wasted metal on fancy jewelry rather than something useful? Her clothes which were also pretty obviously not fucking Terrenenian clothes. Probably all of the above.

Fuck this place. She was going to leave this place was soon as possible.... With Blue in tow of course. She wasn't leaving Blue in a shit hole like this alone. Blue was literally the reason she came here. It'd kind of defeat the purpose to leave without her.

Though, for now Ri was standing on the edge of the outskirts of the village, trying to get a fucking break from a mix of dirty and greedy looks. Very much appreciated if people would quit ogling her possessions and probably plot to murder her and leave her body in a ditch somewhere.

Of course, her pokemon were with her. Just Venom, Sai, Arashi, and Andy, though. Yuki was in her pokeball..... Even though she wasn't moving around right now, she might soon and ah.... She thought about the blob-like water-type pokemon. Then she stared at the ground. Yeah, nope. Yuki would not appreciate this, and Ri would let her out later.... Maybe. This place was just dirty and hot and would dehydrate Yuki. Absentmindedly, she thought it might be nice to let Yuki explore the ocean.... Neither Sai nor Yuki had seen the sea.... They should get the chance. She made a mental note to do that when she could.

She normally would stare at the sky... But the sky was fucking bright thanks to the blinding sun, that even staring at the open blue was stressful on her eyes. She was settling for sitting her ass in the dirt and staring across the way at more sandy dirt. Venom was curled loosely around her, similarly just... Laying there in the dirt and sand, Sai sitting on her rump next to him, and Andy next to her. Arashi was the only one still bounding around, apparently exploring the strangeness of this new dirt.... That honestly, was new to Arashi.

Ri sighed, sounding a little more content than earlier. She had a soft smile. Arashi's energy was always.... Pretty cute actually. It always was good for cheering up.

An Anomaly
The sun beat down strongly, the hottest season of the year proving itself. This was the first summer the woman was experiencing, though the dry hot air was nothing she hadn't already been accustomed to. While it was markedly warmer than before, it didn't change much, the desert the village was located in being heavily influenced by the sun at all times of the year. There was a lack of moisture in the air, which prevented the weather from being stabilized at all. She idly wondered what about this part of the world cause this to develop such as it had. There certainly had to be some reason to it, though she had neither to tools nor the people to discover such a fact. Nor was such research at the top of her list to pursue.

She was headed out of the village, to take a stroll. Her pokemon were all put away in their balls, the woman preferring not to deal with the risk of other trainers and their unruly pokemon causing a scuffle. So she'd wait until they were out of the village to release them, and see about training them. It had been a busy week in the clinic, seeing as how the new shift to heat was causing more people to suffer from heat-related illnesses. Not that there was much besides providing shelter and water to cure such ailments, but still they were required to do so in order to aid those who were too reckless with being out and exposed too long.

As she reached the outskirts of the village, earning a couple quick gazes from the chatting gang members perched at the entrance while she passed, she noticed something odd. Normally, people stayed within the village or were moving to either enter or leave. But as her gaze traced on the group of pokemon and a human, there was no such movement. There was a small pony prancing around, and a few other pokemon who seemed to be relaxing just as the human was. The red hair that she sported seemed familiar, a shade that one didn't see very often. She only remembered a couple such people with that hue in their hair.

As she got a better look, getting a side view while walking, Gem realized she'd met her back in Crater City, during the Winter Festival. This certainly didn't seem like a place she'd expected to see the woman. And thus, her curiosity was sparked. She took a few steps closer before speaking up. "Ri, if I remember correctly. What bring you out here?" She was confident that the name was correct. It wasn't a very difficult name to remember, and this woman was certainly unique enough to bar space in her memory. So she didn't even consider the idea that the name she spoke was incorrect, instead waving with a curious grin. Would the woman accept another conversation with her? She hoped so, as leaving her curiosity wondering was unsatisfactory. She would leave if her approach was unwelcome, however she preferred to have a conversation, if Ri was amicable to it.

As someone approached from the side, Ri turned her gaze to see..... Huh. She remembered this lady from the Winter Festival. Her name was Gem, if Ri remembered right, and Ri often did. She had a pretty good memory, for better or for worse. As Gem approached, she spoke up. She asked what Ri was doing there. Hm.... If she remembered right, Gem was from Oasis.... So, she probably wondered why the hell a blatant immigrant like Ri was in Oasis Village. Thankfully, Gem seemed to be the one Oasis native who didn't hate the shit out of immigrants.... So... Maybe Ri could have a decent conversation. That's what she hoped for anyways, since well.... Her other conversation possibilities were Blue or literally anyone else. She did not want to talk to Blue, or anyone else in this hell hole. They would either not respond, or they'd probably stab her or something. Either way, Ri was even less inclined to talk to anyone in Oasis. Though.... Admittedly.... She did start to feel kind of weird after too long of her pokemon being the only living creatures she talked to. So.... She guessed a chat with Gem was okay.

Ri shrugged loosely. "Eh..... Right now? Just a break from the natives." She remarked. "As a general point? To look for someone. Long story short, I found them. Haven't left yet." She said, even as she omitted pretty much.... Most of the details. Blue had been the one she was looking for, except now she was feeling immensely stressed and irritated and confused about the whole thing. She was deeply frustrated and okay maybe a little angry with Blue because she was being a fucking idiot and needed to grow a spine and her submissiveness made Ri want to hit something until her fists were bloody. She was stressed out because despite that, she fucking cared about Blue and didn't want to see her hurt, and wanted her to be safe, and Ri wanted to know that Blue was safe. She was confused because she both didn't want to be around Blue, and wanted Blue to be safe. They were.... Admittedly conflicting desires, that Ri was failing at pushing into the back of her mind.

Of course, she wasn't going to spill her guts out to Gem. Okay, Gem wasn't a total stranger. Still.... She was literally a foot away from total stranger, more like stranger I've met but still a stranger.

She cast her gaze out to where the sandy dirt stretched onward. "Kind of surprises me that anyone would want to live here." She said absentmindedly.

The red-haired human's pokemon noticed the lady's approach. Venom wasn't really sure how to differentiate them in all his head. Humans were strange.... Though, this one had a shiny rock on her face. Venom supposed he could simply thing of this human as the weird one. It fit well enough. Who put rocks on their face? Humans were really weird as a whole, but this one seemed extra weird. He lifted his head to look straight at the weird human, staring unblinkingly.... Though, mostly because he didn't have those weird eyeball flaps that Sai called eyelids.

Sai and Andy only turned their heads to see the newcomer. "(Who's that?)" Andy asked idly. Sai didn't really have time to answer, because Arashi noticed the human with dark hair. Arashi had squealed and was already bounding towards the newcomer, at admittedly far too swift of a pace. Sai had to practically leap to tackle Arashi to the ground, to stop her from potentially ruining the human's shins at the very least via collision with a zebra. Andy sighed. He thought that kid could use a lesson or two in relaxing.... That other kid Yuki was practically the electric-type's polar opposite.

I'll add Diglett once I post to have it hatched, and Cleffa if I get her [with maybe spinda? IDK Stay Tuned]

An Anomaly
To look for someone? How curious. She wondered whom could be here in this village that the woman would come all the way over here for. And of course, what the relationship between them was. From their first encounter, she didn't seem the sort to form attachments strong enough to sway her goals and destinations. So to be someone worth travelling to such an unfriendly and unwelcoming place marked a significant impact on the woman. Though from the demeanor, this wasn't the proper time to inquire as to the nature of such. Perhaps a question for further in the conversation, assuming the young woman was amicable to continuing their chat that long.

She had a soft smile as she heard the comment about taking a break from the natives. Ah yes, the native of Oasis. "They certainly are a rather abrasive bunch. Very opinionated and very stubborn, with a knack for making enemies. Certainly not a group many would fancy sticking around for any extended period of time." And, for those marked and known as immigrants, a rather dangerous bunch. Their assumptions and her contributions to the village were the only things keeping her on a level where they believed she wasn't one herself. "I can certainly understand the need to get away from them for a while. I do the same somewhat regularly myself." Of course, most of her walks were for other purposes, but being around the troublesome folk and patching up their victims didn't leave a lot of time to her research and studies.

The woman seemed to add another thought, not truly directed but still spoken. While not requiring a response, Gem decided she would reply to it. "It's not a place very suited to living. It seems to only attract those with no other place to go, or those of like minds to the gangs only. Others are rare, from traders simply passing by for the sales and experience of travelling, and those here for research, such as myself." It was true that she'd remained in Oasis simply to continue her learning about the area and it's residents - Both human and otherwise. The woman didn't see herself having much interest to trek back to this village once she picked up and moved elsewhere to expand her research, and thus she was sticking around until she felt she had all the knowledge she could get from this place.

Arshia was ready to continue, but a pokemon dashing at her in excitement required her attention first. Though the young one didn't make it far before another of Ri's pokemon tackled it to the ground, to hold it in place. A blitzle, one she'd seen before. Based on the size of the creature, she guess it was still very young. The duck was an unknown, one she hadn't come across yet though. It was nice to see her older pokemon able to use discipline on the younger ones. Such a structure of balance was efficient and orderly, just what she expected from those who owned pokemon. Her own team was expected to hold such discipline in themselves and the young ones of the group. She returned her attention to the woman, seeing as how these pokemon seemed to be caring for themselves.

"The one thing that can certainly be said positively about those living here is they are resilient. The people who live out here are not the sort to be brought down by any force easily, and are quick to show such to anyone who might question or threaten their stability." She was, by no means, defending the folk who lived in the village. Her tone was neutral, factual. It was like she was reading it from a book, simply providing information. She was curious to hear what the woman's reactions were, trying to break into a more casual atmosphere between the two of them. Once she was able to crack through the unfamiliarity that came from them being strangers, she might be able to ask more prevalent questions Ri would likely be unwilling to answer to any random passerby.

Ri figured that Gem at least seemed sympathetic for her problems with the natives. That was a good sign. Gem sounded like she wasn't particularly impressed by the natives of Oasis Village either. She shrugged. She looked at Gem. She figured that even if Gem was a native, considering she didn't seem to agree with them, she imagined listening to them drone on and on about their shitty opinions probably got tiring after a while. Ri really didn't blame Gem for wanting to get away sometimes. She wasn't sure about Gem.... After all, she hardly knew the woman, but personally Ri could really find people.... Exhausting. Her thoughts drifted towards Blue and her expression blanked out. Blue was.... The very definition of Ri's stress. Things had built up until they exploded from Ri's end, and she imagined that if Chuck cared was serious about that threat, if she ever put herself in his line of sight, he'd murder her. Or at least give it a good try. Another reason to make herself scarce in the actual village. These were all horrifyingly unpleasant thoughts, but none of it really showed on her.... Weirdly blank expression.

Then Gem continued to speak, and Ri seemed to come out of it, her eyes returning to alertness as she looked at Gem as she spoke. Ri snorted. "Not very suited to living is putting it lightly. I prefer the term hellhole." She said honestly. She didn't see much of a point of hiding her rather drastic opinions. She didn't think that Gem would be crying out for her blood for speaking so badly of the land Oasis Village was built on, but at the same time.... Ri didn't think she would care if she insulted the village to the face of a gang member. Maybe it was fucking stupid, but Ri didn't care. Ri wondered if she should care more. Maybe? She really wasn't sure. Regardless given everything.... As soon as Ri had the chance, she was pretty sure she was just going to leave again, go back the way she came and maybe..... Where did Ri want to go? She could probably return to Ashfield..... She wasn't planning to stay in Oasis Village, nor the mountains, and there was no way in hell she was going to settle in Crater City. So.... Ashfield she guessed it was. She supposed.... She'd heard of a fourth city she'd never been to, on the other side of the continent. She guessed she could.... Consider visiting and checking it out, but she wasn't entirely sure.

Venom had more or less ignored the antics of the young zebra, as it was.... Fairly predictable. She tended to be rather rough, though unintentionally. The zebra was rather good-intentioned for the most part, aside from when she wanted to play the game that Venom taught her. Though, he was sure that Sai would try her best to teach that back out of the zebra. He wasn't sure how well that'd work, but he wasn't sure how much he cared.

Sai was currently holding Arashi down, seeing as Sai was older and stronger than the younger Blitzle. "(Don't rush people like that!)" Sai gently scolded, even as she was struggling to keep the squirming Arashi down.

"(But I just wanted to say hi!)" Arashi whined.

"(You can say hi without almost injuring someone!)" Sai replied forcefully, though Arashi slowly stopped squirming, and Sai finally let Arashi up, sitting back. Arashi seemed to have her enthusiasm properly deflated.

"(Okay.....)" Arashi mumbled. Sai sighed.... She was still trying to teach Arashi how to be gentle, but it was slow going. Arashi still always jumped straight into things full throttle, and she often times accidentally was surging into a proper attack.... Even though she was pretty sure this was the second time Arashi had been chastised.... Sai wondered how many times it would take before the lesson would sink in.....

Andy wanted to have a better look at the new human that he wouldn't get from the ground, so he stretched his wings and flew up to the red-haired human's shoulder, and perched there.

Ri let Andy land on her shoulder, and half-successfully suppressed a hiss of pain because dammit, Andy's talons were still sorta sharp. Though, she didn't miss what Gem had to stay. Ri sighed reluctantly. "You do have a point. These people might be full of shit, but I do suppose it deserves some respect that they managed to build a village in the least hospitable part of Terrene." She admitted. The scrublands were shittier than the mountains that was for sure, and the mountains didn't house a city for good reasons she imagined. Ri sighed and rolled her eyes. "Y'know... I wonder if they picked this place because they knew no one in their right mind would want to live here.... Natural deterrent for new people to move here."

I'll add Diglett once I post to have it hatched, and Cleffa if I get her [with maybe spinda? IDK Stay Tuned]

Taking Note
Listening intently to the return on her noting the abrasiveness of Oasis's residents, she noted the tone. The meaning of the words. If it hadn't been clear already, those words would have been more than enough to tell her how much discontent Ri had experienced since visiting the desert settlement. Not that she was surprised, but each person took it differently. The tone hinted towards a deeper emotional reaction, something she wasn't keen to find. After all, she fully believe emotions were simply a distraction that turned the strong weak. No matter how powerful you were, if you were subject to your emotions, you would always have a way for others to exploit your weakness and gain an upper hand.

It was simply illogical to her.

There was no reason to comment on her statement of it being put lightly in her terms. 'Hellhole' was a term she didn't completely understand, though the meaning behind it was pretty clear to her after her time hearing the word 'Hell' in this world. The abstract exaggeration of the enhanced word was what she was able to glean information from. Careful observation had told her that such a word wasn't necessary, as it was just a way for people to express a strong feeling towards something, normally rage or hatred. She felt neither, and didn't plan to start anytime soon, and thus disregarded the word.

The pokemon were communicating with one another, seeming pretty intelligent and well-bonded with each other. Having a team with strong inner bonds and cooperation was important. Something that the woman was still working to create with her own young pokemon. It was important that they be able to operate cohesive towards a common goal, and make the most practical decisions based on what they are accomplishing and how the others on the team are faring. When applying the concept to a diverse group of pokemon with different abilities and histories, it was especially important and difficult to do.

"I take it these are all pokemon that accompany you? It's quite a brilliantly diverse group." The real question on her mind was why they were all out and free, rather than stored within the devices designed to keep them safe and under control. Of course, seeing that there was an enforcer able to keep them in check assuaged any concerns that these pokemon would be causing trouble. "Where did you get them all? Or is that perhaps too long a story to delve into?" She was honestly curious, studying the group and wondering what kinds of capabilities each of them had.

Ri's comments and theory on why they picked this spot was a pleasant surprise to hear. Not many were able to weigh the possibilities evenly in their minds without their natural bias influencing what they could or could not discuss. After all, simply bouncing ideas wasn't about whether you actually believe in it or not, but simply laying out each individual perspective for an even base to analyze the most probable choice. The theory was one she'd considered as well. "It would certainly make sense with their rather extremist views on immigrants. I personally don't understand how one can simply rule out a person due to where they were born. A person is as valuable as they make themselves, and shouldn't be judged based on factors outside their control." Her thoughts on the manner were simply blunt. She had neither sympathy nor empathy to the immigrants who were outcast, but felt that it was simply a waste of valuable skills and hands towards gathering resources and improving the settlement. They were stunting their own growth due to some ridiculous belief.

Gem began to ask questions about Ri's pokemon. She shrugged. She wasn't sure what to make of the diversity comment.... She supposed it was to be expected, since she never really was... Looking for pokemon to accompany her. It just sort of happened. Venom had been with her from the beginning, Sai had been a sort of.... "Reward" for helping with Ashfield's fires last Summer, purchasing Arashi and Yuki's eggs had been a spur of the moment decision, and she certainly hadn't expected Andy tagging along. Ri shrugged. "Well.... There's one more." She said. "She's a pokemon that doesn't do so well on land. She's too heavy to carry, so I have to keep her in her pokeball." She admitted. She tilted her head. "Hm.... Venom, my Seviper has been with me since the start. Sai, the Psyduck was a.... Well.... I was sort of given her as a reward for my help. I bought the eggs of Arashi, the Blitzle, and Yuki, the one who is in her pokeball. Andy joined us in the mountains, before I came here." She explained.... Though, admittedly she left out several fine details. Like timings, other than Venom's, and some of the finer reasons that the pokemon ended up joining her as companions.

Then Gem gave her two cents on Ri's theory as to why they settled in the dry scrublands of all places, instead of somewhere else on the continent. Gem seemed to agree, and then went on to view her own perspective on immigrants. She snorted with agreement. "Yeah, it's pretty dumb." She rolled her eyes. "Maybe they just want a scapegoat to blame all their problems on. It's easier than actually trying to find a solution, or dealing with it reasonably. Just point and say that it's all their fault. Feels like you're doing something with practically minimal effort." She shook her head. "Or maybe they're just scared of what they don't know. Immigrants are going to be wild variables, coming here with their own ideas and stuff, that maybe don't fit in with Terrene, and maybe it's too late for them to fill their heads with native ideas." Ri shrugged her shoulders. "Or maybe they don't even have a real reason. Hate like that.... Doesn't need much of a reason. Maybe they're just hateful and need people to vent on."

Ri found that the Oasis Villagers.... They sort of fit what Ri expected from people more. Even if she fucking hated them and their whole shtick, they made more sense to Ri. Tch, they didn't trust anyone they didn't know. You were either one of them or you weren't, and you had to be born there to be one of them.... Oh, and probably born to people who were also in the group. That, and if you showed a single droplet of sympathy for the "others" that meant you were a filthy backstabber and not in the group anymore. It was unbelievably stupid, but it made more sense to Ri for people to be that.... Terrible. For all they touted their own virtues, they were fucking dripping with hatred and sin like acid. Ri didn't think too much about faith, sin, and virtue and all that stuff. But the word sin worked well. These were the sorts of jackasses who told themselves they were good people, and they only extended what kindness they had to people they claimed were also good people......

Funny thing was.... Ri thought she had the right of it. Good people, bad people.... Eh. Wasn't actually that easy to tell the difference. It certainly didn't depend on where or who you were born to. It didn't matter what you looked like, or any of that bullshit. It had everything to do with who you really were. Ri subtly eyed Gem. So far.... Ri thought Gem seemed alright. Not enough to trust her with that much but.... At least good enough to talk to. Though, she didn't know much about Gem. Did she know how the woman would react under pressure? Did she know about if she had friends, and if she did, what kind of people they were? A quieter part of Ri said that it didn't really matter. This woman didn't matter. Because Ri would be leaving, and maybe they'd meet again, but it wasn't like they'd ever grow close enough for anything to matter. She was just a conversational partner to fill the void, and maybe forget the crushing guilt that currently seated itself in her chest. Ri was great at running away from her problems.

This was just more of the same. Funny how she accused the villagers of being afraid, when Ri sometimes felt like she was fear and anger and little else.
