Welcome

Our old universe has
fallen into impossible chaos and destruction, but the Legendaries will save us; are saving us; have saved us. Soon many lives and memories will fill this new world, and give it purpose.

Events

Terrene continues to heat
up, both in temperature and in conflict. Beta is asking for spies to infiltrate Omega's camp, while Dentelle simply wants to inquire after the scientist's progress. Later in the season, Beta is hosting his annual crater city tournament, where people can test their Pokemon and their leadership and strategies against one another.

Season

Summer will be here until
September. The heat of summer is here in full force, as well as the accompanying summer thunderstorms. Bug, electric, and fire types all thrive while others wilt under these conditions.

((Numel yaaaaay

Ri did not consider the desert to be her favorite place. Oh, of course from a perfectly objective standing point that removed literally all factors aside from her curiosity.... She was glad to be here. It was different than anything she'd ever seen, and the heat and the dryness couldn't tamp down too much on her interest. It was the immense amount of stress that Ri felt like she was about to be crushed under that was giving her a massive headache. Not a literal headache, but it was comparable to one. Oasis Village was full of shit people, and there was no one there she wanted to deal with. The natives were either gang members or sympathetic with them. There were very few immigrants there, and Ri didn't want to deal with Blue right now. She just didn't. It was confusing and stressful, and Ri couldn't clear her damn head when she was pretty sure dust somehow got in her ears. This whole place was a literal hell hole in Ri's opinion.

So while the desert was pretty barren..... It was also quieter and free of human glares and human-related stress. That is.... Unless some jackass showed up. Ri hoped that wouldn't happen because she needed some fucking peace. She'd been walking for a while since picking a direction from Oasis to keep walking. She figured the farther away, maybe the more her head would get a fucking rest already. That, and gang members wouldn't be coming to try and beat her up or something this far out.... Right? Ugh, she hoped they weren't seriously that crazy or filled with hatred that they'd scour the entirety of Desert fucking Strip looking for immigrants to leave bleeding out by some rock.

Ri didn't have Arashi or Yuki out. Yuki wouldn't like this dry place. She couldn't.... She couldn't deal or entertain Arashi as she would need to right now. So, instead she was holding Sai in her arms. It was... Comforting, and she didn't think Sai minded being held. She didn't carry Sai like this as much anymore but.... Sai's feathers were soft and she preferred being close to Sai than to any human she knew.... Yes, even over Blue. Like always, Venom slithered behind her, following her footsteps. Venom seemed to adjust to the scrublands best out of her pokemon. She'd seen Andy try in vain to get the dust and sand out of his feathers, before giving up and trying again later. Andy was currently flying above them, though he was still staying close. That was good. Ri sighed a deep, breathy sigh.

The desert lacked tall trees or large boulders that could limit one's vision, allowing a human like Ri to see far and wide. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to see. Other humans seemed to be staying out of this part of the desert for the time being and the Pokémon inhabitants were mostly sticking to their hideouts where they couldn't be seen.

However, Ri and her Pokémon would eventually be able to notice some kind of a commotion in the distance. There were two yellow Pokémon: one was bipedal and its skin resembled armor segmented in brick-like shapes and the other was walking on four legs, had a hump and a pair of sleepy eyes. There was another one in between the two creatures: a dark purple cat that was smaller and thinner than them. The camel was slowly and steadily pushing forward, his head pressed against the back of the cat. Unlike the other two, he was calm and seemingly uninterested. Purrloin, on the other hand, was squeaking in panic and struggling to escape, but with Numel pushing from behind and Sandshrew holding her paws and pulling from the front, she was in a pinch.

"Let me go, you freaks! Where are you taking me?!" the cat cried, trying to break free from Sandshrew's grasp, but it was clear that the other two Pokémon were stronger than her. She struggled to keep balance as she walked on her hind paws.

"Who's the freak?! Demons like you must be cleansed!" Sandshrew snarled out a response. She was doing most of the work in this kidnapping, but with her and Numel's efforts combined, the trio was slowly moving in one direction, much to Purrloin's disapproval.

"What are you talking about?! I haven't done anything! Help!"

Noticing how powerless she was against the two, Purrloin started looking for help elsewhere. And she just happened to spot the approaching group. There was even a human among them, but she couldn't be picky. She was in trouble and desperate.

Sandshrew was too focused on her job to notice, but Numel eyed the group, blinking lazily before his sleepy voice informed them, "This does not concern you. Please move on."

Instead of encountering humans, it seemed that today's disturbance would be wild pokemon. When Ri saw pokemon in the distance, she recognized immediately two out of three of them. There was a Sandshrew and a Numel. She'd encountered a Sandshrew before in the tunnels, alongside Blue, while she'd seen a Numel owned by that mountain hunter. The third pokemon took a few seconds for it to register in Ri's mind. A... Purrloin. She tilted her head at the situation that she could see. Uh.... It seemed like the Sandshrew and Numel were dragging the Purrloin along.... Against the cat's will apparently. If Ri had a hand free, she would've been scratching her head at the admittedly confusing display. The cat was clearly still alive, and besides that, she was sure that shrews and camels did not eat cats. It was.... Weird? Ri wondered if she should just keep walking and forget she ever saw this. It was pretty strange admittedly....

Unlike the red-haired human, Venom and Sai were privy to the words being exchanged. Though, they were no less confused. It was clear that the Sandshrew and Numel were.... Strange, and had a strange way of thinking. They seemed to believe that the Purrloin needed to be.... Cleansed? Sai didn't understand exactly what that meant, but Venom had a good guess that they planned to kill the cat. Though, Venom wondered why they didn't just kill the cat right here. This whole place was searing hot and dusty, and it wasn't like any spot was better to kill the Purrloin than any other. Besides, he wasn't sure that they were actually going to eat the cat. It was weird... He didn't understand the rationale.

Sai just thought in general that it shouldn't be going on. Sai tried to meet the human's eyes as she began squirming. "(Can you let me go please?)" She asked the human, hoping that the human would get her meaning even though she didn't understand pokemon tongue. Thankfully, the human did bend down to set her down. The human seemed to be eyeing the weird pokemon, though.

"(What's going on?)" Sai asked the three pokemon native to the desert, as she moved to stand in their way, hopefully so they'd stop to talk.

"(Why don't you just kill the cat right here?)" Venom drawled. Sai shot him a glare.

"(Venom!)"

"(What? They're obviously going to kill the cat. My question is perfectly valid, if they're going to kill the cat, why not do it right here?)" Venom pointed out. Though... If Sai were to act on her own, Venom imagined Sai would be trying to save the cat.... Though, Venom didn't really see the point. He didn't really want a dark-type near his human.... Well, not full-time. He could tolerate the dog owned by the small human that the red-haired human liked, since that was always temporary. Inviting one full-time? That was a big no no. He'd kill the cat first, even if it pissed off Sai further.

Purrloin welcomed the sight of the approaching group with relief, although she wasn't getting her hopes up very high. Whether they were responding to her cry for help or simply curious, she was still in a terrible situation.

Despite Numel's warning, they came closer. The camel was understanding enough to imagine that the situation was fairly unusual. It was simply bad luck that they had to run into someone, but he didn't blame them for stepping in. He only hoped they would pick the right side or not get involved. Sandshrew stopped as the duck stood in her way, but she was still pinning Purrloin down. The cat wasn't struggling anymore - she had had enough time to realize it was not helping. Her only chance was this strange group. The duck appeared... harmless, at least when she stood next to that huge snake. He looked far from friendly, but Purrloin wasn't even intimidated anymore; she had been struggling for her life for a while now. She gulped as he asked his question. So, just as his appearance implied, he was an intimidating fellow.

"These freaks are kidnapping me, that's what's going on," Purrloin hissed out an answer in a hurry. She didn't like being talked about like she was already a dead prey.

"This isn't about killing her! We are taking her to our master! They will decide what we do with this demon," Sandshrew pressed the cat's head down in an attempt to silence her. "As my friend here said, this is not your problem, so get out of the way."

"What master?! You can't just do this to strangers! This is unfair!" Purrloin argued in a shaky voice, looking to the duck for support. She was the only one acting like she didn't necessarily want her dead, which was... not the comfort she needed, but better than nothing.

"It would be easier if you stopped resisting, demon," Numel's sleepy voice sounded from behind the cat.

"So, what will it be? Are you letting us go or shall our master take care of you, too?" Sandshrew asked the trainer's Pokémon with a cruel grin. One could tell that she probably enjoyed making sacrifices.

Venom was relatively indifferent to Purrloin's plight. He had no reason to care for the demon cat, and most of his reason for stopping was curiosity and confusion. Though, he did agree with the cat's assessment that the camel and shrew were both rather strange to the point that Venom didn't care much for them either. Though.... He didn't really care for them in the first place, so that didn't really say all that much.

He didn't like being told what to do, though. He was.... Okay with the human giving him a suggestion or two, but just about anyone else? Okay, apart from Sai as well, he hated being told what to do. The shrew proved they were being big weirdos, and they had some sort of.... Master, that they needed to defer to. Hmph. "(What if I don't feel like getting out of the war?)" He said, trying not to sound too petulant, but Sai was giving him weary looks anyway.

Then the cat started protesting again, and Sai looked deeply troubled. "(Why do you need to take her to your.... Master? And who is your master anyway?)" Sai asked, feeling a desire to help out Purrloin. It sounded like she hadn't done anything wrong, and it wasn't fair. Okay, so maybe life was a little unfair, but they didn't have to sit there and let it happen.

Venom hissed angrily when they were being threatened, his tail began waving from behind him. "(Sai.)" He said sharply.

"(Yes?)" Sai said, giving Venom a pointed look. She knew what he wanted, but she wanted him to ask. She knew she'd need to demand a little better treatment. Plus, she was older and no longer the little duck that Venom had basically raised and would do what he asked. Okay, so the first part was still true, but the second part wasn't.

"(.... Please help me. Help me kill the shrew.)" Venom asked, though it sounded very much like he was hissing through his teeth, despite the lack of teeth aside from his fangs.

Sai nodded. "(Better. Of course I will. This is unfair.)" She narrowed her eyes at Sandshrew, and holding out her wings, a shining orb of blue formed between her wingtips, and she threw it at the Sandshrew.

Venom did not want interference from the camel, so he turned his gaze upon the camel and as he hissed wordlessly, his eyes glowed red.

Andy was flying above, and could see what was going on. He was nervous at the battle having begun, though he was sure that the adversaries Venom and Sai had chosen had not noticed him.... He just needed to stay up here quietly, and they'd battle it out and he'd be fine. He hoped Sai would make it out okay, she was an interesting conversation partner.

Ri had not been expecting a battle when she released Sai. Though, it seemed that Sai and Venom were engaged in a fight now. She could tear them away from it, but eh.... She guessed that Venom wanted to kill and Sai wanted to help. She thought about how Sai had defended Andy from that hunter and his Numel.... It seemed like a safe assumption. She wasn't sure exactly what she should do.... She felt she should do something, but she wasn't sure what. If she stepped into the battle, she'd probably get hit.... Either by the wild pokemon, or get in Sai and Venom's way. She cast a glance upward, and Andy was keeping his distance by flying high. She was really glad that she hadn't taken Arashi or Yuki out of their pokeballs.... This wasn't the right environment for children. Still.... She found herself just sitting there awkwardly, as she reached into a pocket to grasp at the shitty knife she still carried around. Would it help? Ri didn't know.....

Sandshrew narrowed her eyes as the snake showed first signs of resistance. Would this really have to turn ugly? They could always go around this strange pair, but with the squirming cat, it wouldn't be so easy... Besides, she was pretty certain they would still try to stop them regardless. She chose not to answer the snake's taunting question, but the duck's inquiry sounded genuine enough to be worthy of her response.

"Our master shines as brightly as the sun! They are the beacon of hope, who fights against the demons of the desert," Sandshrew explained in an exalted voice. She sounded happy to be sharing this knowledge, as if hoping that her preaching would convince the snake and the duck to join their not-so-noble cause.

It didn't appear like it worked though. Sandshrew once again narrowed her eyes as the snake made his intentions clear by asking "Sai" to help him... kill her?! The nerve of that thing! She was no fool, she could see that they were strong and even together with Numel, she would have trouble. But hopefully, their master would hear the battle sounds...

Water splashed against Sandshrew, shoving the armadillo back. She involuntarily released Purrloin from her grip and would have been tossed against the cat, but the demon made use of the opportunity to run right away. She jumped to the side, letting the armadillo lose balance and trip.

Numel wasn't as invested in this entire exchange as Sandshrew was, but even he had to turn his attention to the opponents. The snake was staring right at him and Numel froze in fear. That intimidating, red-eyed glare was so terrifying that his muscles tensed up and refused to listen. The camel's sleepy eyes opened a little wider in fear. He was known to miss certain details, like getting a mean look from someone, but this time there was no way he could not see it.

"Have it your way! Let's go, Numel!" Sandshrew cried after getting back to her feet. She put her clawed hands together and out of nowhere conjured a ball of mud. She immediately tossed it toward the snake's face. Without waiting for the result, she ran to Sai, attempting to slash the duck with her claws. They shined with purple, toxic energy before the attack.

While Sandshrew attacked, Numel stayed back, putting on a determined face. It was time for his contribution to the battle! He inhaled deeply before he Growled in a low voice, as if trying to frighten the opponents, "Give up now!!" He didn't need to move for this, so his paralyzed muscles did not bother him.

Meanwhile, Purrloin was slowly backing her away, hoping to be unnoticed by anyone. In her mind she was already making some big migration plans.

In full honesty, neither Venom nor Sai really.... Understood what the Sandshrew was raving on about. It sounded like the shrew really loved this... Master, though they both doubted the actual nobility of this for different reasons. Venom didn't really think highly of anyone else except Sai and the red-haired human, so by principle he thought this master probably wasn't as great as this dumb shrew thought he was. Sai, thought that the idea of some "master" trying to eradicate the demons of the desert, was utter bullshit, even though she tended to be more polite.... Her thoughts drifted to Mary, and she kind of wanted to tell this shrew where to stuff it. Though, now they were locked in battle and this was not the time for words, that much was true.

Sai's water-type attack struck against Sandshrew, and the Purrloin that was their captive was able to scamper off. Venom didn't care much, even if Sai was relieved because of the result. Venom supposed it was one less thing in his way, which was good. Venom was satisfied when the dumb camel that was Sandshrew's accomplice froze up. They could deal with the camel if they so chose after dealing with this dumb shrew. They could now focus. Though, Sandshrew either didn't notice the paralysis of her assistant or simply did not care that Numel was frozen in place and likely would have problems attacking their enemies.

The mud collected between Sandshrew's claws was flung Venom's way, and towards his face. He turned his face so it wouldn't get as caught in his eyes, but the mud splattered across his scales and stung rather badly. The mud seemed to dry in the cracks between his scales, and he hissed annoyed, as it was suddenly harder to move as quickly with the mud stuck in between his scales.

Meanwhile, Sai raised a wing, and Sandshrew's claws slashed through her skin and she winced in pain. She narrowed her eyes. She gently winced again, and Venom did as well, from Numel's growl, and they both shivered ever so slightly. Though, Sai quickly steeled herself again, and a stream of water came out of her opened bill, heading straight for Sandshrew.

Venom hissed angrily, and wanted to be sure that they were being thorough. He was slower than he usually was, but he hoped he would be fast enough to at least sink his fangs into this dumb shrew. He lunged forward, jaws wide, and snapping at Sandshrew, trying to dig his fangs into the ground-type's flesh.

Above head, Andy was still circling around, trying to keep tabs on the battle from a safe distance. It seemed like.... Sai and Venom were trying to finish off the Sandshrew first, and would deal with the Numel afterwards. He remembered singed feathers from the last time he met one of the creatures, but at least he knew that Sai had some natural defenses against such attacks.... Still, he had no desire to get in close.

Ri was still hanging back, though she saw that the camel appeared to be.... Paralyzed. She would've thought it would've moved, and Venom had done something to it. Sitting around.... It didn't sit right with her. She'd done it plenty of times, but she wanted to more involved. Well... Numel was part of the fight and seemed to be paralyzed..... Ri pulled the stone knife she carried out, and held it in her right hand. She did her best to quickly skirt around the fight between Venom, Sai, and Sandshrew. Then she moved to stab Numel with the stone knife she had. She had no idea how tough this thing was, but hey. Only way to find out how hard she needed to stab was to do the stabbing.

The sound of Numel's growl might not have been very intimidating, but it was loud enough to be heard in the vicinity. On the other side of a pile of boulders, around 40 feet away from them, something moved, lazily turning around so that its face would be directed at where the familiar voice was coming from.

After attacking the duck, Sandshrew put herself in a dangerous position, close to the enemies. Even with her back turned to Numel, she knew that he couldn't be counted on, his voice came from about the same place where he was when the battle started. She didn't have the time to get upset when Sai sent in another blast of water that pushed her back. The Ground-type screeched in pain. The impact tossed her right toward the snake, who closed in on her and trapped her in his powerful jaws. Sandshrew cried in panic. Venom's terrifying, merciless face was the last thing she was before losing consciousness, her fate being completely left in his hands. Metaphorically speaking.

It would take a few seconds for the dull-witted camel to process the circumstances and realize that his partner was mostly done for. His normally sleepy, uninterested look was twisting into a face of fear as Sandshrew's demise was becoming apparent. Then, all of a sudden, the human sneaked up on him and tried to stab him with a blade. Numel was too oblivious to notice and even as the knife struck him, digging into his hard body with difficulty, he didn't appear to have realized it. Seconds passed before the camel looked up to see the human who towered over him. In the same moment, his slow mind processed the pain of being stabbed - even though his hard skin protected him from the mediocre-quality weapon, it had been breached. Numel whined in pain. His short legs refused to move, the effects of the paralysis still present, but his upper body fought through this handicap, firing a fiery blast of energy from the Pokémon's hump in a nearly automatic self-defense mechanism.

Purrloin was standing on the sidelines, fighting an inner battle to decide whether she should aid her rescuers or not. They were doing fairly well, which meant they wouldn't need her, but also that it was safe to stick around long enough to say thanks. But before she could relax, the cat spotted something approaching. She squeaked, jumping in surprise, her back hair raising up. One of the boulders that those freaks had been taking her toward suddenly started moving... But the cat realized that it was no ordinary rock. Not only was it floating effortlessly and silently toward them, it had a pair of half-closed, focused eyes and yellow spines all around its body. It was a creepy Pokémon, Purrloin concluded, having the eerie feeling that this was that "master". Though it didn't seem to notice her as it was heading toward the snake and duck instead, she had reasons to think it didn't like demons like her very much. She started backing away silently.

Summoned by its comrades' pained screams, Solrock came forward, its expressionless eyes taking aim at the Seviper. Sandshrew's lifeless body was either locked in his jaws or, if the snake had released it by then, somewhere nearby, allowing Solrock to come to only one conclusion. These Pokémon had hurt its associates. It didn't matter whether they were demons or not. The Meteorite Pokémon wasn't going to tolerate this. It didn't bother with warnings and attacked right away.

It focused its energy on the ground nearby, lifting up several smaller rocks before tossing them toward the Seviper and the Psyduck. As they flew, Solrock proceeded with another attack: it spun around in the air, releasing blasts of telekinetic energy toward the Seviper.

The combination from Sai and Venom was enough to knock out the Sandshrew, and Venom had thought they'd be able to finish off the dumb shrew without much in the way of problems. The thing was, Venom didn't think their master was that close. He didn't consider they'd interrupted the "kidnapping" in the remaining segment of the journey, as opposed to straight in the middle of it.

Now, Ri remembered that Numel's had fire attacks from that time in the mountains. Nevertheless, she was surprised and... Admittedly being right on top of the Numel, she had to throw herself backwards. She really didn't want to burn her whole face off or something, but she didn't escape burns, embers having scorched her arm. "Shit!" She hissed out. It fucking hurt. At least the Numel still seemed pretty stationary. She was contemplating stabbing it again, but it seemed like Venom and Sai had defeated Sandshrew fine, and they could probably ditch right now.

Except, then Ri, Sai, and Venom all seemed to notice the sudden floating rock.... That wasn't actually a rock, but a pokemon. "Solrock..." The word was whispered and slipped off Ri's tongue, like all pokemon names. She wondered who she'd been in the void of her lost memory that she knew all these pokemon names. She always could name a pokemon after seeing it.... It was truly odd. It was interesting-looking, though it set her on edge. Er.... She wasn't entirely sure it was friendly.

Venom hadn't clung onto the Sandshrew, dropping the shrew as soon as it stopped moving.... Though he could tell it was merely unconscious instead of dead. A fact he hoped to rectify later, except.... For this guy who immediately was on the offensive. Venom had assumed this was the.... Master that they'd spoken about, considering how he readily came over to attack. Venom was already moving, and managed to dodge the small rocks, while Sai was not so lucky. She yelped and screamed a little as the flying rocks struck her, leaving bruises from the force. Venom did not escape the powerful blast of psychic energy. He screamed. How could he not? This shit was fucking painful! It felt like he was being cooked alive, in a way that was infinitely worse than any desert heat. He wasn't used to being on the side of it from an enemy, because he knew Sai would never actually kill him. A total stranger was a different story. By the time the pain subsided so Venom could move again..... He was hissing angrily. "(Sai. Give everything you got.)" He hissed loudly. He was weak.... And if they wanted to live they had to give everything they had to this thing.

He rushed the stupid thing, his tail smoking with the dark energy so often wielded by the demons that they apparently hated. He slashed his tail forward at the offending Solrock, except he couldn't stop. It was hard to attack without much in the way of breaks in between, but he really had to do this. Or he was pretty sure he was going to die, and that was not an acceptable outcome. He wanted to keep going, and certainly not die in this shitty desert. He kept going, and his tail still surrounded with dark energy, he struck again. As soon as his attacks were made, he immediately began slithering away as fast as he could. Okay, he wasn't scared, he was just wary! This thing was powerful against his kind!

Sai attacked next. She didn't tend to overexert herself, but she agreed that they needed to finish this thing. Watery energy gathered in between her wings, rounded into an orb, and then she threw it at Solrock. Except, she couldn't stop either. Breathing heavily and pushing through the pain of being pelted with rocks, she repeated her attack, gathering more water and power and throwing it once more at Solrock. She could only hope that this would finish it off.

Ri was freaking out. The Solrock threw fucking rocks at Sai and Venom, though Venom managed to dodge them, Sai was not as lucky. She still seemed.... Okay-ish. Venom was struck by a different kind of attack, and he seemed to be really struggling. Ri was panicked, but she really wasn't sure stabbing a rock with her crappy knife would help anything. She wasn't entirely sure Numel was that much of a threat either, so instead she nervously slipped her hands into her pockets, grasping a pokeball tight. If Solrock did not fall unconscious, or otherwise be taken out as a threat, Ri would grab an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throw it at the Solrock. If that happened, then Ri would also scream as she ran away. Venom and Sai wouldn't really have much other choice than to follow the fleeing human.... Hopefully away from the murder machine that called itself a pokemon. Andy, of course, would be soaring in the skies, hopefully safe and out of range of being killed.

Purrloin was already running away when Venom and Sai struck back. She wanted nothing to do with the floating sun-shaped meteorite, although when she looked over her shoulder, she noticed that the human's Pokémon were counterattacking and doing fairly well...

Solrock expected resistance, especially from the ones who had defeated Sandshrew. Its attacks appeared to be effective, considering the pained screams. The rock's face remained neutral as it watched its opponents' dismay. They didn't leave it a lot of time to act again though. The snake came leaping, using its sharp-edged tail as a weapon. Solrock didn't try to dodge - it had calculated that this opponent would be faster than its own mostly immobile body. The first slash had the sun-shaped Pokémon spinning involuntarily, but the second shoved it downward. The rock came crashing to the ground. The red pupils visible in its mostly closed, black eyes, disappeared. Their light went out and the Pokémon was no longer moving. To any witness who would be coming their way then, it would simply appear as a very unusually shaped rock, as still as rocks usually were.

It would be rather surprising to such a person that the duck proceeded to cast not one but two Water attacks at the fallen opponent. One blast splashed against Solrock, leaving its rocky surface wet and forcing a dent in its hard skin at the spot of the impact. Another came and did the same, but there was no reaction from Solrock. It had taken Venom's attacks with a similar lack of emotion, but, perhaps unknowingly to its opponents, by the time the second Water Pulse came its way, it not only showed no sign of pain but also simply didn't feel any.

Numel was similarly oblivious to what had just happened to his master. In fact, he watched its death with a tired grin. He was in the middle of processing the fact that the master came to rescue him. It was probably too late for Sandshrew, but Numel knew he wouldn't be left alone against these guys!...

Several seconds later, his smile washed away. The camel's mouth opened as he stared at the sun-shaped meteorite.

"M-master?" he asked uncertainly. Despair was taking over him. He tried to move his legs and approach Solrock, but they again refused to move. This time static ran over his body, keeping his muscles so stiff that he couldn't even shoot fire. Not that he was going to. He could see that he was very clearly outnumbered and it didn't even matter anymore. The master he had been serving, his friend who gave him a purpose... They were all gone. Were these strangers going to kill Numel too? The wild Pokémon hardly had any strength left to resist.

Given how Venom had nearly been done in by the intimidating psychic-type rock, he figured their overly aggressive reaction was totally reasonable! After all, sometimes it was as simple as kill or be killed. Though, he had to admit that he hadn't exactly expected the Solrock to go down so easily, with only the strikes from his tail. The water attacks from Sai struck an already fallen body, and it was.... Admittedly unnecessary. Venom supposed he overestimated the rock because it had an advantage against his kind, and had hit extremely hard with that psychic attack of its. Anyway, it was down now. It looked dead, and that was good enough for Venom. It almost looked like it fit in with the landscape now. Venom hissed satisfied.

Sai let out a deep sigh of relief. She'd been.... Admittedly, scared. She knew psychic attacks seemed to.... Hurt Venom a lot, but while hurting him sometimes felt a little.... Cathartic to finally just vent a little, regardless of how okay it was.... She wasn't as okay with someone else attacking him, probably because they might kill Venom while despite everything.... Sai never would. She felt tired, and perhaps a bit silly that she'd seemingly expended a ton of effort where it hadn't been necessary.... But things seemed alright now. She looked around to see where Purrloin had gone, and she seemed to be a decent distance away.... She guessed she'd been backing away because of the perceived danger. The demon cat seemed okay though. She awkwardly smiled and waved.

Meanwhile, Venom was slithering over the unconscious Sandshrew. He huffed. This dumb shrew thought its master had been everything.... And yet that master was now dead, because of Venom. Oh, he admitted the rock had gotten a solid shot in, but Venom still came out of it alive... Unlike them. It didn't take much for him to sink his fangs into the Sandshrew, though in a much less energy-expending manner than before. Since it was already unconscious, it took much less trouble to finish it off now.

Andy was cautiously descending down now that things seemed to have calmed down, and he came just in time to hear Numel's weak cry. He looked over to the camel. He was wary of approaching the camel, but he didn't exactly fly away either. He cast a glance over at the Solrock. Where he'd been flying, he hadn't been within earshot to hear any conversations going on. But.... Hm. He glanced over to Numel. "(Can't move, huh? That was your master?)" Andy inquired.

Sai answered Andy. "(Uh.... Yeah.... These guys seem to be a group with the rock guy in charge. Venom killed them, and.... Yeah. So.....)" Sai explained, nervously shifting her weight. Sai glanced at Numel. "(What should with him?)" She wondered.

"(We could kill him.)" Venom offered, as he slithered up. "(Wouldn't take much.)" He pointed out. Sai scowled at him.

"(Or we could just leave. I think we're done here. Besides.... I'm feeling pretty tired....)" Sai said, slumping a little. She really thought they should go back home and just.... Rest up, instead of hanging around and possibly get attacked by more wild pokemon.

Though, Andy was mildly curious about this weird Numel, who had a "master." From what he understood, it was usually pokemon calling humans masters, if they had any. It piqued his curiosity enough that he wanted to stick around. "(We could hang around for a bit.)" Andy suggested.

Venom snorted. "(Why?)" He hissed. "(Unless it's to kill the camel, I don't see much point, bird.)" He said, thinking the bird's suggestion to simply hang around rather ridiculous and pointless.

Sai glared at Venom, before glancing over at Andy with a much softer but confused gaze. "(Ah.... I am a bit curious why you want to stay.)"

Andy did that little shifting thing he did with his wings that mimicked a shrug. "(Eh. I'm curious. I'm just thinking he might be a bit more.... Interesting than the last of his kind we met.)" He gestured to Numel with an open wing. "(Besides. This one is incapacitated. It's safe.)"

When the Solrock fell, Ri let out a loud cry of relief, before falling to her knees. "Fucking shit...." She breathed, before she let herself fall and sit back. That was..... That was stressful. She groaned, and rubbed at the corner of her forehead with her palm. "That was dangerous...." She muttered, even though Terrene was always dangerous.... It still wasn't quite every single day that one of her pokemon was in serious danger. She was glad this was one of those times that they turned out to actually be able to handle themselves..... It was reassuring. Anyways..... It seemed like it was over. Though, she still glanced over at the Numel that.... Huh. When had Andy come down? It appeared all three of the pokemon she called companion were.... Well not really huddled, but they all seemed to have their attention focused on the camel while they talked. The same camel she'd stabbed and had burned her in response.... And the same camel who was.... Pretty weird and helping the Sandshrew drag away that cat. She wondered if Numel knew that Solrock, seeing as the Numel seemed to be upset now.... Or perhaps it was because Numel was surrounded by corpses and at the mercy of their killers. Could be either one. She figured they could afford to rest a bit....

Venom, Sai, and Andy seemed busy with whatever they were talking about anyways.

Though, if they were going to sit around for a bit.... Well, she felt like she was reasonably nervous about how Venom was doing. She forced herself to get back on her feet, and plop down next to Venom instead. He seemed to notice, and turned his head to look at her. She sighed, and reached into a jacket pocket to pull out a bottle of potion. The bottle itself was made of wood, and she had to break off the top. She eyed Venom. "Hey, stay still and trust me." She said softly, before she started to pour some of the potion into her spare open palm, and smear it onto Venom's scales. He hissed softly, but he didn't struggle. That was nice. She hoped it was making him feel better.... That's what this stuff was supposed to do, right?

From her safe distance, Purrloin noticed that the floating meteorite was done for and the strangers who had helped her were victorious. They hadn't appeared particularly heroic to her, they mostly seemed displeased with the other group's attitudes... And she had also noticed that these guys were scary. The cat was about to run off full speed in hopes of never having to think back to this day again, when the somewhat friendly duck waved at her. Purrloin grimaced awkwardly and waved back. She hesitated for a moment, but eventually went back to talk to them.

They were in the middle of discussing Numel's fate. The camel, even as slow as his kind usually was, seemed aware of his far from ideal position. His eyes were wide open and barely blinking and they traced back to each of the Pokémon as they spoke. He wasn't even trying to move, knowing well that even without the paralysis, he would be too slow to outrun them. He could only listen to their discussion and hope it would end well.

The bird's curiosity could be his salvation. With his usual delay, Numel spoke up shyly, "Y-you've already won. I'm no threat to you, you can let me go... M-Maybe I can show you the way to the human place?"

He was using more words than usual, but this wasn't a usual situation. He had to cling to any sparkle of hope in order to save himself. Since they were out here with a human, Numel even concluded that perhaps they needed guidance. He had no idea. Anything worked.

"Hey, thanks for the help, guys. You really saved me from those lunatics," whether on purpose or not, Purrloin spoke up right after Numel, as though she was trying to move the attention to herself so that his suggestion wouldn't be considered. "This guy might be useless, but since you helped me and all, I feel like I should warn you. I've heard of this stupid demon-hunting bunch. I didn't want to believe it, because it sounded so absurd. We're not all that bad, you know? But anyway, their group was supposed to be bigger than this. If the other lunatics see that you killed their leader, you might have to get ready for another battle."

Sai supposed they didn't seem.... The nicest, since uh.... Well.... They had killed Sandshrew and Solrock, and were now discussing killing Numel or not as well. She imagined they seemed like a dangerous bunch, and she guessed she couldn't blame Purrloin for being so.... Awkward back at her. Though, it seemed that perhaps Sai seemed friendly enough, as Purrloin was coming back. That was.... Good. Sai didn't like the idea of being feared as Venom seemed to enjoy it. Sai preferred to make friends and have a good time, with the peace that conflict tended to shatter into a million pieces. She guessed.... She wasn't really good at that, especially not with Venom with her.

Thinking back to Numel.... Sai, noted how the camel wasn't even trying to move.... Sai cast a glance at Venom. Would he just go ahead and attack the camel if he tried to make a break for it? Then again.... Numel didn't seem like the speedy type, and was already paralyzed by whatever Venom did from before. Numel's chances seemed.... Slim, if only she were able to talk Venom out of killing him.

Andy tilted his head. "(Human place? The human settlement?)" He inquired.

Venom scoffed. "(We already know where it is......)" That was partially a lie. Venom didn't know exactly where it was, because they were new to the area, but he was pretty sure they could make their way back to it perfectly fine.

Sai glared at Venom. Then she looked over at Numel. Then back at Venom. "(C'mon, let's just leave.)" She pleaded with the Seviper she called.... Partner.... Sometimes. It didn't feel entirely.... Right most of the time. It felt off.

Then Purrloin began speaking after approaching again. Venom hissed angrily at Purrloin's words. "(Really? There's more of these idiots?)" He grumbled. "(How many morons could that hunk of rock have convinced to follow their craziness?)" Venom openly complained.

Sai seemed troubled. "(I get what you mean.... But if there's more.... We really do need to leave now.)" She pointed out. She cast a glance over at Numel. She could ask him to vouch for them..... But.... They'd killed his friends, she didn't see him helping. She sighed deeply. "(Okay.)"

Andy sighed. "(Okay, then. I'm not really a battler, so I'm going to duck out again.)" He said, flapping his wings, and flying back up into the sky, apparently completely losing interest once the possibility of more conflict cropped up.

Venom groaned. "(And he doesn't even bother to help....)" He complained. Sai nudged him in response.

"(Hey, not everyone is built for fighting.)" She pointed out. Sai took a deep sigh. She looked at Venom. "(Can we at least agree that we really do need to leave right now?)"

Venom gently lifted his tail blade. "(.... Alright, fine. I'm not exactly in optimal condition, and fighting is hard work....)" He grumbled in reluctant agreement.

Sai sighed, and she tugged on the human's pant leg. She hoped she knew that it was time to leave now. With some grumbling from Venom, it seemed that Sai, Venom, and the red-haired human were all trying to leave now.

There had been some further chatter from amongst the pokemon, when it finally seemed that they were ready to leave. Ri sighed in relief. She really didn't want to stick around for too long. She hated Oasis Village, but at least they were probably less likely to be attacked by wild pokemon close to the village.... Even if they were more likely to be attacked by people instead there, ugh. She began taking the first steps, she could only hope nothing would suddenly materialize to attack them.

encounter results
Escaping was a good call here! Here are the results for the anticlimactically short and brutal battle!

The battle against Sandshrew earns both Venom and Sai 2 exp each, because of the exp difference.

Because the Solrock battle was so quick, I can't reward them with the full exp for a level 22 opponent, but we will give each of them 5 exp - the effort put into the battle was around the same, even if Sai was mostly hitting a dead rock.

For using Glare on Numel, Venom gains 1 exp!

And for using STABBY STAB on Numel, Ri gains 3% exp toward combat. She also lost a potion.

I will add these changes to your index now. Since Ri and co. escaped before more danger could come their way, you are free to continue the thread or request closing.

Purrloin and Numel watched their exchange. The cat was nodding in approval as they were coming close to the right decision. Good. She hadn't exactly gotten attached, but the least she could do is let her saviors escape this place safely. Heck, she was considering leaving the desert for good herself.

"Wise choice. Stay safe, travelers," Purrloin meowed a goodbye, waving in the duck's general direction. She was easily the most likeable in this bunch. The feline's eyes darted, scanning the surroundings, but everything appeared to be still and well, deserted. It didn't look like anything was coming to attack them.

If what Purrloin had said was true, the other dangerous Pokemon had to be further away, allowing them to safely retreat back toward the village, without anyone disturbing them. It appeared like the cat had really done them a favor, just like they did themselves a favor by listening to her warning.

Numel was gradually processing their words, realizing that at least they wouldn't be killing him. He breathed a sigh of relief by the time they were too far to hear him. However, Purrloin was still there. She flashed a malicious smile.

"Well, what was that about cleansing demons? How about we do some cleansing right now?" she hissed, letting out her sharp claws. A naturally slow, paralyzed target would be easy, even considering the difference in their battle experience.

Numel gulped. It looked like he hadn't been saved, after all.

Without further ado, Ri was walking away, though she worried that something else might crop up. The redhead didn't feel like you could ever really tell what would come next, could never promise anyone that you were safe or things were going to be okay.... Even if so far, Ri didn't see signs of anything approaching to come attack her and her pokemon. She walked, and kept glancing back to make sure everyone was keeping up and still with her. With Andy in the sky, and Venom and Sai following on the ground.... Things seemed fine, but she couldn't help but worry that things wouldn't stay that way. Nevertheless, she kept somewhat nervously checking.

Sai, as she was walking away, looked over to see Purrloin waving goodbye and wishing them safe travels. "(Bye... Stay safe.)" Sai returned. The idea that Purrloin might run into trouble again so soon.... Was.... Unpleasant. Sai didn't want to dwell on it, otherwise she might start thinking like Yuki. Yuki's mindset was.... Pessimistic at best, and Sai wanted to try and see if she could correct that.... But for now, Sai had to stay positive and hope that Purrloin would be alright even after they parted.... Even though Purrloin was a stranger, Sai wasn't interested in seeing others die.

The red-haired human was soon gone from the area with Purrloin and Numel, with her accompanying pokemon with her. None of them saw or heard Purrloin suddenly turn on the fiery camel, seemingly to enact her revenge.
